REVIEWS OF Bruce Museum IN Connecticut

This is a nice gem of a museum tucked away in Greenwich. There was ample parking. The fee to get in was $10 (for 1 adult) as of this writing. There was a large selection of various beautiful minerals. A cartoon part of the museum. Ancient China. Local paintings.... A very eclectic museum but very well taken care of...

Most extensive collection of historical and current day people, objects and animals named Bruce in the state! Lovely and knowledgeable staff too!! Ask for Bruce

Disappointing. Multiple school groups touring the museum made viewing the exhibits nearly impossible for me and my husband. We had to step over children sitting on the floor several times just to exit after we gave up on seeing anything. Suggest museum be closed to accommodate school groups.

Nice museum undergoing major changes look forward to coming again view added areas guess when completed in 2020, enjoyed entry area had art exhibit on grounds, very interesting natural local history of the area in Connecticut.

Frank De Jesus

We are lucky to have a museum of this quality in our area! For a chance to absorb culture, art and history without having to battle the commute and congestion that comes with trying to get access to a Manhattan exhibit is rewarding. Beautiful facilities like these, remind us how much there is, away from "the city". We enjoyed the illustration and cartooning exhibit that is currently on display. And we very much look forward to what the Bruce Museum will offer in the Future! Thank You!

Small, but with some very worthwhile exhibits.

Small and they charge for admission, but nice work, the people are very sociable and we had a good time.

I have a young family and my children are drawn to art and love their regular visits to NYC museums. My daughter who had been here on school trips insisted on extending her stay at Bruce Park by paying the museum a visit. It gets 1 star solely on its interesting contemporary global impressionist collection and a welcoming front desk employee, Whitney. The rest of the visit was marred by a menacing security officer, a woman in her 30s, who repeated "ssshhs" constantly throughout our 15 mn visit everytime my children forgot to whisper and just talked. An old guide with 3 women in the group kept staring at us in a hostile way and when my 7 year old whispered how she should spell impressionism, the old guide turned around and sternly yelled, I told you to be quiet. It was unbelievable and hurtful. Soon after when I tried taking a phone photo of the painting (and no where did it say that photographs were not allowed), the security guard yelled from a distance of almost 20 meters, No pictures. It was an extremely unfriendly place to say the least and since we happen to be a colored family, I can only draw the obvious conclusion on the disgusting attitudes of those who represent this institution.

Kind of fun museum, I was there recently during their art sale, which was interesting. I would not go to the museum itself, it is quite small, with not much to see. I also verified with the person selling the ticket if I could bring my dog, I was told yes. Only to be told no after I have paid the tickets... Kind of either bad communication or very bait & switch...

Kindra Fontes-May

I was impressed with their exhibits, especially for a small museum!

Jim Dunne

The Toulous-Lautrec exhibit was excellent. The docent was very knowledgeable. The Brice Museum never disappoints.

Denise Ash

Was there for a private party so I did not see the museum in entirety but what I saw was nice. Will go back one day as a regular visitor soon.

Elliott Berkowitz Sturgis

Great for a family visit and will burn an easy hour or two.

Medium to small-size museum. Can finish everything in couple of hours.

The geodes looked like miniature fantasy worlds and looked so cool! I learned the natural original shapes of stones used in jewelry and the like are nothing like I thought. Now I think some stones actually look better in their original natural state than what they're often reshaped to.

Irving Adler

A great boutique museum!

Luca Marozzi

For a small town like Greenwich, this museum is a great plus. Always interesting stuff, worth a visit.

M G

Small museum that hosts some wonderful special exhibits.

Robert Otto

Nice Natural Science Museum with a strong Art/History backing. Take a second to appreciate that the building is an enclosure, adding more working space, to the original museum, the Bruce's victorian mansion.

It had a great Robotics Show a few years ago. R2D2, Robbie the Robot, and many really neat robots and things.

Excellent museum. Easy parking and traveling exhibits. They had a Toulouse lautrec exhibit which was rare and really nice.

A must-see museum! Check website for current exhibits. Set within a nice park offering a kiddy area. Local restaurants within a short walking distance.

Free on Tuesdays, interesting exhibits, but just a small museum.

4.5 stars. I enjoyed everything about it, but, like everywhere in Fairfield County, it is somewhat overpriced. It's not a big museum at all, and the permanent art collection on display is pretty small, but I did really like the three special exhibitions. The first was a series of lovely watercolors of the American Impressionism School, the second was a group of fun (and unusual) animal lithographs by Andy Warhol, and the third, my favorite, was twenty photos from a contest involving microscopic photography, something I'd never seen before. Amazing! The staff were helpful and polite, parking is a cinch, and the building is handsome, even nicely situated. But ten dollars is a little high for a small museum you can see in an hour. Probably 6 or 7 would be right. But I realize many art museums are in a crunch, and most are getting pretty pricey. Unfortunately, this is counterproductive to gaining a wider audience.

Cassandra Amoro

I enjoyed the exhibits of art made by high school students. The wild life area was also amazing.

The Bruce Museum is a museum in downtown Greenwich, Connecticut with both art and natural history exhibition space. The Bruce's main building sits on a hill in a downtown park, and its tower can be easily seen by drivers passing by on Interstate 95. Permanent exhibits include minerals, area Native American history and more

Allen Root

Great for kids. Family membership makes the most sense and there is free admission to other museums including the Intrepid with a Bruce membership.

This museum stands out with its mix of science and art shows. They have the most amazing works that places like the Met and MoMA would die for and there is not the crowd of selfie-stick wielding tourists getting in your way. This is a fantastic treasure with great lectures, fantastic exhibitions and great family programming.

What an incredible art museum. The exhibits are small, however the quality of their selection cannot be impeached. The Bruce Museum truly exemplifies the truism that quantity does not equal quality, I highly recommend the "Retooled" exhibit.

We'll not look in the air the same way. Dr. Dan is a gift to the community. He made the presentation on the array of bird species and the "great bird" so engaging that I can't wait to come back to learn more and more of the body of science that he will offer. Great thanks and he is a gem in our midst. Brenda Lydecker

Jen Beck

Small museum, but rotating exhibits. The space is packed with items and information. Go slow to make sure you see it all.

Dan Friedmann

nice small museum.

John Maddison

A bit expensive if you pay to go in. Save yourself $60-$80 by waiting for Smithsonian Institute Museum Day and you can get vouchers for free entry from Smithsonian website. (Each voucher is one adult plus one ”guest”, so if they get a voucher each then 2 adults can take 2 older children in, under 5 years are free). Natural history section was good and informative and week presented, great even for younger children. Big meteorite, genuine dinosaur footprints in rock, and other exhibits from the local area about wildlife, local lifestyles before European settlers arrived, etc etc Modern Art section also good, but children could not appreciate the messages/meaning/joke behind each exhibit, for example the glass hammer or the chocolate ashtray.

Jenny Mellott-Lillie

Great small museum. Great exhibits and the greens they have are worth oogling.

We drove by the Bruce Museum on our way home from Connecticut and decided to stop by because of the high ratings. We were a little disappointed to find out the museum was actually pretty tiny. There is a permanent section with some older geological and wildlife exhibits. The main section has a rotating exhibit. Overall we just felt it wasn't worth the cost of admission.

Antoine Georges

Small but an incredible collection of rocks

The exhibits change regularly, there are volunteers to explain the art, or not, they are sensitive to you enjoying the experience as you like it. Tuesday's is free entry, the gift shop is fab.
