Interesting, not enough so to pay $25 for a tour of the inside though.

A little oddity in Hartford. It's a private building and you cant get too close, but you can still get the idea from the sidewalk. Don't go out of your way to see it, but if you're in the area it's fun to check out.

Absolute gem. If you care about art, culture, or interior design in the 1930s, the Austin house is a must. The house has been lovingly restored and the tour guide was knowledgeable and very engaging. Also, just responding to another reviewer, thr Austin house is not private; it’s owned by the Wadsworth Atheneum and is opened to tours twice a month—you just have to call to book in advance. Well worth the $ and the time!!!

Very interesting tour of Chick Austin's house in the wealthy and beautiful area of Hartford! He was the art director of the Wadsworth Atheneum from 1927-1944 and was innovative at the museum by introducing modern art to America. The house is a historic house museum built in the Neo-Palladian style and is only one room deep while being long in length. It is filled with 17th- to 20th- century Italian and German furnishings, with the second-floor modern style with Bauhaus designs.
