Old, and needed a refresh. Also just dusty and dirty. Fun but brief.
A nice and educational dinosaur experience. I was honestly surprised.
My son (7) loved it.
Awesome educational place for kids of all ages
Such a wonderful place to bring your family and spend the day
We had a lot of fun identifying the different dinosaurs and looking at all the fossils and footprints. They have done a great job to make it fun for the kids! ( Adults liked it too!)
This place is not just for the young, so don't pass it up. So much to learn about millions of years of history. See how the world has come and gone in yet similar ways as today. You think that you know how big a dino was, till you stand next to a femor of one. Worth the small fee to keep the remarkable information flowing. A must see for the young and old.
I don't how they trained the dinosaurs so well but they were very well behaved. The swim with the plesiosaur was very fun and child friendly. Although you don't get to swim with the big one, the small ones are very fun. Next up was the triceratop tractor and I know what you're thinking, "is that a live triceratops pulling a wagon that you're riding?" And if you are asking this question you would be correct. One problem I was of course afraid of was if this would end up like that documentary, "Jurrasic Park." Well I could rest assured that the animals (or should I say dinos) are in safe habitats and are surprisingly domesticated. Very fun, I would say the pterodactyl plane ride was me and my kids favorite. 10/10 would run with velociraptors again.
Great for the little paleontologist in our family.
Great place to learn about the history of our planet. If you are in town or driving through check it out. You can spend a great time exploring dinosaur history hands on.
Great place for the whole family to go for an hour or two. Prices are affordable and their is food and shopping nearby for afterward.
Museum lighting is dark, dreary, no one in museum to help visitors. Focus on gift shop. I was slightly disappointed for $$.
Great skeletons and animatronics, but the lighting needs an upgrade.
Kind of small but very interesting for fruita history and more
We really enjoyed our visit. Staff was very friendly, prices were very reasonable, and there’s plenty to see and do for at least a couple of hours if you’re into dinosaurs at all. Way better experience than I expected.
Great place kids loved it, people are nice
Great place to bring kids, my 6-year-old great nephew loved it. Lots of interactive stuff, fun for adults as well. Great place for kids to use their imaginations. Just the right size for younger kids, we were there about an hour and saw it all.
Fun place to bring the kids and explore.
Wonderful fun! Great exhibits for our family which included two little girls. I just wish we could've spent more time here!
Happened to be next door to our hotel. Although small it was incredible. Interactive. Much better than a lot of larger museums. Can't beat the price. Gift shop prices don't gouge you. Highly recommend
One small area under construction. Kids had great time.
Great place! Lots of great displays.
A lot of bones! Very impressive. Nice gift shop with very reasonably priced souvenirs. Friendly knowledgeable staff. Beautiful displays. You can touch some of the actual, real dinosaur bones!!
We are yearly members because my son adores dinosaurs. We love going here. :) The staff are always friendly and go out of their way to entertain my son.
My kids got to see the Dinatronic dinosaurs
Do I really need to leave a review when the name of this museum is sufficient? Your children love dinosaurs. They'll love this.
Very fun even for small children. Interactive and educational
Was very dissapointed, thet didn't tell us they were going to close soon. We didn't get through half of it and they closed the store first. Who closes the store first? Not only did I have a dissappointed little guy, they lost out on multiple sales. Poor managemet and communication to customers.
Ask the rangers where to go they will point out the best spots always
My family enjoyed an afternoon here. My kids enjoyed learning add much as they did playing.
It was fun for the children under 10. Small little museum and it was raining that day so it was a good thing to do on a rainy day
This place was a lot of fun. My niece and nephew had fun exploring the exhibits. They even made a couple of friends with other kids visiting.
It's small & things are very worn and not as tween (ages 9 + 15) friendly as I'd hoped. Seemed more appropriate for younger children
All the American Dino info you'll ever want to see and experience. Great friendly staff.
Fun for kids and the whole family. One of the few good museums in the area!
Children will love this place, so much to see and learn.
Excellent skeletons and partial fossils on display, but easy to get through in 15 mins. My 9 yo son was satisfied and happy. Browsing the gift shop for a dinosaur tshirt and toys was a highlight. Close to the freeway, gas stations and restaurants, so this makes an excellent roadtrip stop.
Small, somewhat gimiky for the price. Don't make this a final destination
Always fun to go hangout with dinosaurs with my daughter.
Very interesting for anyone interested in dinosaurs. Not terribly high tech, but not dumbed down like so many museums these days.
Great place. Super interesting for kids and fun exhibits. The dinosaur that spits "acid" (water) was my little ones favorite... The cousins disagreed, but it was great. Highly recommend.
This place is so amazingly awesome! A must see
Cute museum worth the admission. Rather small, but good for an hour or two of fun.
Perfect for younger people
A must stop. It is a hidden jewel. Best part of our road trip.
GREAT detour off the highway on our trip. Really good exhibits. $30 for our fam of 7.
The lecture was great.
We try to go at least once a week, my kids love the dinos!
Good for kids. The giftshop prices are a little too high. That being said there are definitely worse things you can do with an afternoon.
We liked the animated dinosaurs very nice
Very cool place for young and old
It was absolutely affordable for a family of 7, only $30! We enjoyed the facts and the interactive portions of the exhibit. My kids enjoyed and excavation exhibit where they were able "dig" up bones!
Great little museum with many interactive areas to get children involved. Definitely worth a visit!
First time coming here and it was very interesting and fun for all . My boys like learning about facts and history. And the anamatronix are neat. . gift shop was a little pricey but the cashier was very nice.. .
Great place to visit - very cool displays and information, great parking options, reasonable prices
Small museum but lots of real history, bones from the area.
Fantastic place for adults and kids! Interactive, educational. Amazing
Cool place to stop and visit. Moving displays with sound make it cool for kids. One that spits water too. Hands on areas for the kids, and you can see inside the researchers area while they do their work. Very cool.
Well done informative displays. Some great fossils & casts.
Great place, and the exhibits stick pretty close to the specimens found in the western Colorado and eastern Utah areas. The museum has a mix of full size (cast) skeletons, recreated dino's, and individual bones. There is a compelling mix of stories and information about where all the stuff came from (much of it within 20 miles of Grand Junction). If you like Dino's, this is a cool place to go and if you have kids, I think they will be largely captivated. Plus after spending two hours there I killed it on Jeopardy so the information is accurate. Plus Fruita is a great place to visit. Biggest plus, a velociraptor is only like 3 feet tall is the 3 rd pic shows.
Love this little museum.. not an expedition in jurassic park but the kids will enjoy it
Great place about dinosaurs with interaction stuff for kids of all ages.
I am a Dino volunteer and can not think of a better place to spend my time
The price was decent. They have a family rate that made me happy. It's small only one floor. You could easily do it in a few hours. They have animatronic dinosaurs which is cool, but some are in desperate need of repairs. There are a lot of "hands on " exhibits younger kiddos will get a kick out of it. My older kids did have fun. I would say that the target audience is preschool-6th grade.
My 4 year old had a blast! To me though it seemed a bit dated and run down. Kiddo had fun and thats all that matters. Several dinosaurs have movement and the gift shop was nice.
Fun roadside stop. Staff care.I got in trouble from old guy custodian for messing with Dino bean bag toss. I deserved it.
Lots of information to be had here!! They play a movie at 11 which lasts 30 minutes and has great details about the wheres and what. Where the bones cane from, what dinosaurs. The staff is friendly and great its a great learning atmosphere and relaxing to just go see all the exibits.
I can never get enough of this place. My big guy wants to go every chance we can. He constantly talks about what he sees there and has to show off his patch to everyone. We will be back.
Fun little museum with animatronic dinosaurs and some fun digging and water erosion play areas
Good lerning, small place but very interesting
Love that we have this place so close. Its our sons favorite!! Love the ever changing exhibits too so us big kids dont get bored.
We had a great time, a bit small but our younger kids loved it.
Cute little place and gift shop. The grandkids and the adults enjoyed it.
Great place to take the kids with great exhibits. Lots of fun and educational activities for everyone.
I would rate five star, but there was this very gruesome animatronic with a dead dinosaur's head in another's mouth. Probably not the best for children
Fun little museum with lots to see.
They dont have the spitting dino anymore just a ripped up old dino. my daughter was so disappointed
I love this museum and used to go everytime I visited family. Definitely worth the stop!
This place is very cool!! The kids had so much fun ☺️ And the gift shop is great too!!
It was nice but the staff was not that friendly.
Fun and interesting place to learn about dinosaurs!
$25 for our whole family to get in and my toddler loved it! You can touch almost everything, and that's a big deal (;
An awesome place to take the kids.
The Dinosaur Museum in Fruita, CO. is such a delight! This place is full of surprises. There are real dinosaur fossils on display and some are ok to touch. There is a sandpit filled with fossils that can be excavated with tools provided by the museum. Walk inside the mock Brachiosaurous heart chamber and get a true perspective of just how big it really was. Then, in the gift shop, there are many souvenirs. They have gems, toys, candy, and they even have a machine that turns a penny into a flat pendant with a stamp of a dinosaur of your choice on it. It's definitely an experience.
Fun for kids. Interactive displays
Neat place in a fun little town. The displays are all very effective, the information is just enough that it isn't overwhelming. We enjoyed the animated dinosaurs and all the displays that have you a perspective on the size of these dinosaurs. Worth the visit and break for the heat.
Friendly staff, cool however kind of small Museum.
Great place to bring your family fun Interactive exhibits and a great gift shop
My kids loved how the museum brings the dinosaurs to life
Fun and educational place.
The dinosaur exibits were good and the staff was wonderful. Avoid the gift shop!!! We went to another dinosaur park the same day and found the same stuff for half the price
My kids (4 and 2 y/o) had a great time here on Halloween. Friendly staff and not too scary.
Fun museum, we stop every year when we are passing thru and it is nice that there is always something new to see.
New exhibit, We come to dinasour journey At least twice a month to catch all the new exhibits
Lot of facts here, very interesting didn't realize so many were in Colorado.
Great place to go with the family. Educational and fun!
Our 2 year old loved it, I would have enjoyed it more if they had wine tasting with the dinos
Small but fun museum. Definitely geared toward kids. Probably expect to spend less than an hour there, maybe 1.5 hours jd you have kids. They had a good gift shop compared to other similar museums. Rawr!!!
So fun! Definitely stop with the kids. Worth the cost. Gift shop was great too! People are friendly.
We've been coming here for years and it's always an amazing experience. Family friendly and always a new exhibit to enjoy. The prices are very reasonable, and the membership is definitely worth it. Would recommend to anyone, especially families.
Fun place for kids and interesting for adults
We've been to some of the best museums in the world an I'd have to say this little museum is really a great place for children. It will hold their attention for about 1.5 hours and the material is presented in a way the kids can explore dinosaurs discovered in Colorado. There is a friendly staff that is very knowlagable about the museum and the exhibits. We enjoyed it Very much.
Great museum, super knowledgeable guide, was amazed that there was a lab in the back that apparent is very advanced and ships to.other museums worldwide.
Fun learning experience
Fun for kids of all ages! The animatronic dinosaurs are semi in need of repair but I think that adds to their charm. Lots of fun and interesting dinosaur facts to be found throughout the whole museum. You can even try out an earthquake simulation. They also have a good sized gift shop.
We loved it!
I absolutely loved this museum! Some of the displays are a little dated, but it was neat to see the animatronics, and to watch professional paleontologists working in the lab. The museum was a big hit with my nephew's because there are many interactive exhibits and the gift shop is fun and decently priced for a gift shop. I really enjoyed buying plaster casts of dinosaur claws and teeth.
If you have a kiddo fascinated with Dinosaurs this is the place for you! Spend a day on a real dino dig adventure and get hands on dirty, digging up the past. Not that adventurous? Spend a day in the museum with great animated exhibits with a ton of stuff to see and do. We had a blast!
Amazing place to take the whole family
Very well done... They dig most of they're own displays and are ready to answer questions.. Recommended!
Worth the time. kids would love it
Cute museum, geared towards children. I learned a lot, and saw some living fossils, as well as some great casts and actual fossils. Spend 20 bucks in the gift shop!
Dirty- entryway smells like mold and sewage. Not very educational or scientifically accurate. Super outdated and sad...the coolest thing is the car filled with oxygen tanks out front
We participated in the half day dig, after which we toured the lab and the museum. (with 6 year old and 17 year old.) The whole experience was wonderful! The museum was of the smaller size but very interesting and engaging. Learning how they use the lab and it's tools were great. But the dig was the icing on the cake. Thank you for the amazing day!
We took our 10 month old niece and she had a lot of fun just looking at the dinosaurs. The moving ones scared her some. This is a great place to spend a few hours. It isn’t a huge museum but has a lot of great information and several interactive areas for kids. Some of the exhibits are run down and old but the entrance fee is cheap and there is a decent gift store. We will definitely be back as she gets old and other family members come to visit.
Informative and interesting, fans of dinosaurs certainly won't want to miss out. The animatronics are a few decades old, and they all have that kind of retro charm that makes the whole museum a delight. Don't miss the earthquake simulator either!
Reasonably priced with a very affordable gift shop. Great place to visit with kids. We had 12 kids ages 16 to 7 and they all loved it. A must see in fruita with kids!
Great place to take the kids. Or if visiting from out of town must see.
Cheap and the kids had a great time learning with some interactive exhibits. Lots of great information for all ages.
The museum is small but still kept our son busy. It has water play, dinosaur bone digging for the kids. Staffs are friendly.
Different activities and lots of information
Great time for kids of all ages. Good information and lots of hands on. The animatronic Dinos are lots of fun.
Wow! What a fun stop in Fruita, CO! Both our kids loved it! Learning about Dinosaurs and fossils, seeing local sites where fossils where found and excavated and digging up.our own fossils! Oh and playing in the water table, of course
Okay but it could be better. Needs a serious overhaul. All animatronics need repairs and are on their last leg. Feels super dated.
I love this place. The people are super friendly and the displays are wicked.
This place is so much fun for the kids. I love some of the interaction exhibits to really get the kids into it. I do wish they had more than a snack machine as far as food goes. Maybe add some dino nuggets or something. That way after a long drive they can eat and then enjoy it. Instead of focusing on food and missing some of the experience. So parent tip : bring a snack and have them eat before you go. Bathrooms are good and clean . The gift shop sells a bag of rocks for only a few dollars the kids seem to enjoy them. Friendly staff. Average price for a museum. All in all 4 stars .
It is exciting for dino lovers to visit a museum that does more than display fossils. Active digging and discovery happens here! I appreciate the focus on quality educational exploration and not just thrills. I do wish there was more to see, and more changing exhibits. Some things are showing age and wear, like the chalkboard and the kid digging pit. And once you read all the placards and see all the moving dinosaurs that is about it. My 4 year old likes the consistency though!Overall a fun and educational way to spend an afternoon.
Kids loved the animatronics of some of the dinosaurs and having a dilophasaurus spit at them. Good exhibits and lots of things for them to touch.
Its fun for kids age 3 to 9, but not bad I suppose for a dino museum.
My kids loved everything, from the Earthquake simulator to the anamatronic dinosaurs (though the bug Utahraptor near the front is a little scary because of the other dinosaur in it's mouth) you can also view where they clean and prepare the fossils for the exhibit
Very fascinating. Took kids, who had way too much fun with a dinosaur that spits at you... the tour was great
Used to be a lot better and more interactive
Nice day out with grand kids
My kids had fun and its affordable!
Lots to look at, outdoor dinosaur walk is excellent, it is however outdoor. In hotter seasons wear sun block, get early start, bring water. Spend the extra money for family discovery pass to include 5D aquarium movie walk through, its awesome
Fun for kids and family
We pulled off the interstate looking to eat during our trip from SoCal to the Midwest and were lucky to find this gem of a museum. Enjoyable for both kids and adults.
Super cool and lots of good information!
Went on school field trip. The kids all had a great and it was actually way cooler than I had expected
My grandkids and I loved it really enjoyed reading about the finds in Colorado ❤️
I had no idea that this place would be so excellent, I was mighty surprised. Not kid stuff at all but nonetheless an exceptional kid place. The exhibits were really well done and did a nice job of tying the Dino history to the local area. Many cool things for kids and adults. The emphasis on education and not just entertainment is really nice. Highly recommended, kid not required.
Great for kids! They have some amazing animatronic dinos that the little olkids love and a huge variety of exhibits for all ages but yet a small enough that they don't loose interest.
It's a good place for easy entertainment and knowledge. Just a little short
Kids LOVED IT. GREAT INFORMATIVE
My parents & I took my sister & her family to Dinosaur Journey a couple of days ago. My nephew loved it, & we all had a blast! He loved the dinosaur spitting at him, the earthquake, & the digging area for kids.
For the price it's not to bad
Great place to visit very informative
Great place for adults and kids even party rooms to rent out great for family get togethers
