REVIEWS OF San Francisco Museum of Modern Art IN California

A great collection of art- a good use of time for both the artsy and the art noobies. I recommend downloading the app and coming with with earphones to fully enjoy the experience. Last recommendation- the coffee is actually pretty good. It was one of the best we had in the city

Nilton Higuchi

The best modern art museum of SF. Exhibition of Andy Warhol , great to review his Works and how revolutionary his ideas and the influence of art applied to mass media have influenced several generations of people worldwide. Also do not forget to see Calder works - altough a few of them are in exhibition, they are representative of his great talent. Nice place, Great to spend some pleasant hours .

frank janeczek

Amazing museum, one of the best in the world for modern art. Certainly one of the best in the New World. Highly recommend.

Elbert Perez

Great museum in the heart of SF. Big exhibits always go through here and is worth the money spent to support the arts. Don't forget to explore Yerba Buena right after

James Duffy

Wonderful exhibition of many different medians of art. 7 floors of exploration that you can spend the whole day lost in. Coffee shop on 3 for and cafeteria on floor 5. Great time for everyone interested in art.

Greenmaid O'Really

Very good exhibitions. Great architecture. Good snack bar snd gift shops too. Free coat desk. Don't bring overly large bags or you will have to leave them with your coat.

Paul Lowrey

I went back for the first time in several years for the Warhol exhibit. The new expansion is fantastic. The mural at the lower level is not to be missed. The whole experience wandering around the expanded facility is definitely worth a trip.

Shirin jafari

I cannot express how much I love SFMOMA. Their membership/ members benefits are definitely worth it! Their cafes and services are great, and don’t get me started on the art! It’s hands down the best museum in SF and definitely worth a visit at least once (if not every week!)

Arnav Singh

The place was immense and will take several visits to immerse in detail the many special exhibits. From the huge digital mural called The Chronicles of San Francisco which depicts the daily life of a cross section of over a thousand residents to the wonderful comprehensive exhibition of Andy Warhol which spans several level there is no way see it all in one day. We spent most of the day on Warhol's impressive 40-year career and barely scratched the service. It will be worth every penny to consider an annual membership. Highest recommendation.

Dylan Finch

There’s lots of good modern art on over 5 floors. It will probably take you a whole day to go through the entire museum. The museum also has a wide variety of art, from paintings to sculptures to live art pieces to life sized art you can walk through.

Stephen Hayhurst

Always good in SF. Traffic from Sacramento was really better than normal. Went to SFMOMA, great place, to see the Andy Warhol Exhibition very good & interesting. :-)

Tom C

Interesting place with a lot on display but very expensive for what you get. Much like most modern art galleries you are unlikely to enjoy this if you aren't into modern art. Whilst the range the gallery contains means you can spend a long time walking round, there seems to be a lot of "filler" art. There are few stand out rooms, most noticeably the Warhol stuff they have on display currently, but there is a lot there that is fairly uninspiring. I wouldn't say this is one of the best things to see in San Francisco, especially if you are here on a limited timescale and is by no means the best Modern art galley with The Broad (LA), MOMA (NYC) and The Tate (London) all containing a more exciting selection in my opinion.

Eliza Ross

Lovely art museum in SF downtown. Great exhibits and museum store!

Jonathan Ellmann

was a very enjoyable time unfortunately a lot of exhibits were closed as well as trust me you do not want to bring a backpack with you on this tour! you are not allowed to wear a backpack on your back and some guards will say you can have on strap on on arm and then others will yell at you for that as well making things very embarrassing to say the least. it was a very distastefull way to correct me for having my BACKPACK on my back... they acted almost as if you were a criminal trying to steal their art....

Brett Higham

As MoMAs go this is a great one. Really enjoy the photography exhibits here. The restaurant in the lobby is excellent and definitely worth your time. Great coffee as well is available here from local SF Roasters. Try to hit this place during the week. Weekends are a little out of control here.

Maureen Newman

SF MOMA is a fun place to wander around every few months when they change exhibits. It takes around two hours to see all the floors and spend time really looking at the art that interests you, but maybe three-to-four hours if you want to thoroughly read everything.

Talent Theparee

The space is really nice and the exhibits are often interesting. Many pieces of modern art, on the other hand, often don't make much sense. Great for making jokes and poking fun at some of the "art", though. However, there are also genuinely aesthetically pleasing pieces as well

Lead Horse

Have a lovely lunch outside on the 5th floor with great fresh food at MOMA! Service is friendly, environment is peaceful and is like a secret garden.

Breanna VanDell

I'm not usually an art museum person but we heard great things about it so we visited. It was actually really fun and neat to see all the different art. Plan to spend a couple hours there do you don't need to rush.

Shandearan Bell

The best place to get a dose of art, inspiration, and perhaps good conversation. Worth becoming a member. They rotate and change art often enough to keep the museum feeling fresh.

Luiza Borba Santos Araújo

Amazing museum, from classic to contemporary art. Great cafe w/outdoor area for families. Store on 1st floor worth the visit. Lacks changing tables on most restrooms.

Owen Ridings

The Andy Warhol exhibit was an wonderful educational experience on the different stages of his career.

Theo Stewart

Magnificent. The building alone is so beautiful & aesthetically appealing that it is worth a visit. Not to mention the incredible collection held within that will captivate and inspire. Go.. just, go... The only regret you would have would be missing the opportunity.

Bukky- Third Culture Individual

I enjoyed touring the San Francisco Museum of modern art! We enjoyed it so much we signed up for membership. Being a member allows us to visit the museum for free for a whole year. Which means we can visit anytime to learn more about every single art work (if we choose to) I think that's amazing!

Pam Young

Awesome exhibition of Andy Warhol. Great space great staff and wonderful collection! The lunch was pretty good too.

Edward Harrison

This is one of the best art Museums/Galleries in the United States. 6 or 7 floors of art. I've seen the Buckminster Fuller and Andy Warhol exhibits there and they were displayed very well. Cudos to the curators.

Zac Slade

Great museum, 6 floors of awe over and over again. Head the website and come early and spend the day.

F.A. Sites

Very ho hum. Nothing inspiring. A whole room dedicated to empty Excel sheets drawn in pencil. I get that art comes in different styles, but that's ridiculous. I went on a free day, thank God.

Remy Ludo Gieling

Awesome museum, highly recommend. Do visit the gift shop - has some very cool design items.

Aleida Luna

For me it was a wonderful place to visit in San Francisco. I love art so this is an ideal place to spend time with my kids but, this specific time my little one was not feeling well. Other than that I am ready to come back to finish the last 2 floors that I did not have a chance to visit at the time.

Mary Hall Patrone

Always a great place to visit. This time we were there for the Andy Warhol exhibition. Outstanding display of his work! The curator went over the top to showcase his works of art. I came away with a whole new appreciation for this critically important artist.

Danni Hameen

I love this place, however, I would recommend going during a off time. When it’s packed it’s hard to enjoy the art. But overall the museum is clean and well organized and the food at the cafes was pretty good as well

Eri van

One of San Francisco's must-see destinations, located within walking distance of Union Square. Explore seven floors of an internationally recognized collection of modern and contemporary art. Founded in 1935, the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art was the first museum on the West Coast devoted solely to 20th-century art. General admission to the museum is $25. Members (who pay $100 a year) will be allowed free admission, as will visitors 18 and younger. Admission for seniors (65 years and older) is $22, and visitors ages 19-24 (with ID) will pay $19.

Selina

This was always one of my must-visits in terms of Art Museums. Was not disappointed at all! I quite liked the layout of all the art exhibits (easy to navigate throughout the museum), and the staff were also very friendly and helpful. There …

Mu M

The new layout of the building is beautiful, especially the gardens and the cafe are well designed. There's a space exhibition, and that was interesting. Unfortunately the most of the exhibitions are disappointment. Modern design isn't a lack of design, but the art works are sadly far from the inspirational. They used be dynamic, passionate, and can be called 'ART.' So if you're looking for truly inspirational, beautiful art, you'd better go out to streets of downtown, art galleries in the City, or Golden Gate Park. There's so much better natural arts and true artists' art works you can find. And most of all, it's free!

Tim Monahan

Simply huge and amazing Takes around 3 hours to get around it all... really thoughtfully arranges and exhibited.... the actual building is a art work itself and there are many tall windows out to the city. :-) loves it

Marco Nasser

The Andy Warhol exhibition was nice. The museum has a very interesting collection of contemporary and modern art. Definitely a place to go in San Francisco.

Adam Carruthers

The permanent exhibit on floor 2 has something for everyone covering a wide range of modern art throughout history. If you prefer more abstract or pop art or photography, you'll see something neat for sure.

Bon Manhkong

Awesome museum. Great space. Exhibits are spectacular! Gotta see Andy Warhol from A to B and Back Again. Permanent collection including the Doris and Don Fisher Gallery are magnificent!

Paul Shaw

So much to see so little time. This would be brilliant if you could see over 2 days. The parking was $26 for about 5 hours so should be factored. Andy Warhol exhibition on at the moment for an extra $10 was a must see for me. Staff great well planned and informative.

Dmitry Barsukov

It's okay. For those who understand and enjoy modern art, maybe. Not for me.

Joseph Ziliak

Loved the Andy Warhol special exhibition. Had many outstanding works of those recognized as modern artists.

Uncle Bill

Over 7 levels of exhibits, 2 hours is definitely not enough time to enjoy fully. Gift shop alone will easily take one hour adjacent to ground level lobby - spans 2 levels.

Gina Marr-Hiemstra

Museum was thoughtfully layed out with interesting and inspiring pieces of art that makes one think. Loved how their were comfortable seating area throughout. Lunch at restaurant had nice selection of options including good wine too!

Patrick Suhner

Very impressive museum with extended collections. Of course you have to pay the price to culture access like everywhere in the USA (35 USD for an adult with special exhibit) but it is worth it, although you may not have time and motivation to visit the whole museum at once. To be recommended to go several times considering the special exhibits are also of a very high level.

Tara Cabullo

Went during the Andy Warhol Exhibition and it was the best thing I did this trip. Spacious, great app for audio, well spaced and great curations. Big store too!

David Pittman

I went to see the Warhol show, which was very good. The cafe is also very nice; on a nice day they open the glass walls to the patio.

Sebastian Arrese

Beautiful exhibits across different art disciplines and subjects. I’d recommend planning to spend a few hours (2-4) in the building unless you’re coming for a specific exhibit.

Penina S. Finger

Nice first dip into the collections. Wayfinding is terrible. The printed maps are nearly useless.

Edward Cardinal

Great exhibits, great layout. Excellent sculptures, paintings and architecture with easy parking.

THERESA SIMONS

JRs San Francisco Chronicles absolutely captivated me for hours! I will return as didn't get to hear all the stories I wanted to. Incredible display of diversity and community: San Francisco at its best!!

Tristen Hyde

Loved this museum. 7 floors! Amazing. Staff were super nice. Except for the lady at the bottom of the stairs to the 2nd floor. She was barking at people to wear their backpacks in front but didn't tell us why. We had to ask another staff member. It was so you didn't bump anything. Gift shop was nice. Got a few things that weren't expensive.

Thomas San Francisco

AnTonioSF USA

Visited last year...not too much has changed, but the new exhibits they do have especially on the 4th floor, are interesting and worth checking out. Spend a few hours here and give your eyes some candy.

Val Ann

Beautiful art, lots of floors. Be prepared to walk. Lol

Reginald Manuel

Located in the heart of Downtown San Francisco, the Sf MoMA is a cathedral to art. The different floors showcase the different types of art. They even incorporate art into the actual building. There's a library on the second floor so you can self educate and further your knowledge.

Diane Brauch

Great museum. I went for the Warhol retrospective. Excellent but gone now.

Brandon Lewke

Great museum, you can spend hours there. 7th floor has a very important exhibition on violence towards women, not for the faint on heart. Loved the living wall and the spiders!

Ashley Grenstone

Five stars because of the amazing artwork, both in terms of the legacy of some of the classics and the originality of some of the new stuff. I was able to visit as part of the Thursday free nights and I enjoyed my chance to tour the place. Staff were pleasant but a little on the quiet/invisible side. Couldn't tell you why that bothered me a little but combined with the extreme openness of the architecture of the building, something about it walking through it felt empty. But that's just personal feelings - everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves. Plus the spider sculptures were the best!

Amanda Cook

An excellent place to spend an afternoon. I love checking out the newest exhibits, recently we saw an extensive collection of Andy Warhol’s art. Make sure to check out the living wall and sculptures on the patio as well!

Hamzeh Hamarneh

Well, it’s a no brainer! If you’re in town and you want have what possibly can be a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to see some fine art! You go to SF MoMA. I am glad I had the opportunity to see Andy Warhol’s body of work in summer 2019 over there, I don’t think of a better way to spend the day. Hint: allow at least 4 hours to explore the place, it’s 5 floors of art, it’s not something to be done in a rush!

David D

Came here specifically for the Warhol exhibit and was not disappointed. Beyond the timed exhibit, there is much to see at the museum and you could easily make an entire day out of walking through its entirety. Well worth the price of admission.

edo

Nice building but displayed artworks were not very engaging for me. Too many abstract or minimalist art and installations. I had much better experience in NYC MoMA.

Jill Hollstein

Some interactive exhibitions. Top floor was closed off. Good range of different exhibitions. Have to pay extra for Andy Warhol exhibition.

Michael Hakes

Super cool place. Lots fun. Very beautiful museum

LMN O

My BIGGEST gripe with this place would be buying tickets, which was made difficult and confusing, most notably because of the staff dis-interest. Overwhelmingly one of the most depressing and unwelcoming art installations that I know of worldwide. An over abundance of staff, with a complete disinterest in any interaction with the patrons, standing around stopping any form of interaction with the art. There are gulags that are more welcoming.

Todd Reed

Loved my visit. So much to see and experience. Really glad I was within walking distance from my hotel. Spent quite a few hours walking around, soaking everything in.

E C

Always cool exhibits. This time I saw Andy Warhol- there were several sections. And there will be movies in the next weeks, that were inspiration for some of his work. Not cheap- get a membership if you go more than twice a year. The gift shop is great!

Jordan Gooch

We went specifically for the Andy Warhol exhibit and it did not disappoint! It was very thoughtful in the layout and did not feel overcrowded. Very enjoyable experience!

Peacedog Santa Cruz

Saw the Andy Warhol exhibit after reading the book Factory Made, fascinating! Andy was such an enigma, but his art is transcendent genius. Andy had his 15 minutes of fame + Sadly, he predicted his own death at 58. It would have been interesting to see what he would have produced in the 1990's as AIDS was morphing in society/gay society, and left a huge hole in the gay culture, at large. Plus, the advent of the internet, would have been a whole new platform for him. Love SF MOMA for bringing Andy to us to show how art is timeless, and in time.

Yusuf Ahmed

This is a huge modern art museum. With that being said, be sure to give yourself a lot of time to explore all seven floors. The museum is amazing and full of fine pieces. It is a great place to take the family or go solo and waste the day away.

stephen gaccon

Great warhol. Wxhib when we visited. Also BEST COFFEE in my time in SF.

Beck Marquis

I managed to visit while the Andy Warhol exhibit was in town and found it to be excellent! I'm typically not attracted to museums but I found the overall experience to be well worth the investment of time and money. I walked away with many questions and a desire to find out more about several of the artists. I recommend arriving when it opens, then plan to stay for the day.

Maria Comstock

Always a great experience and membership a good deal with lots of good perks like members only hours.

Richard Robertson

The Andy Warhol exhibit will be here all summer. This is a wonderful opportunity to see the scope of his work. Warhol can be a lot of fun - he has quite a sense of humor.

Heejeong Seong

Exhibitions are always great! I love the museum's store. Also the coffee shop inside the museum is a hidden gem. If you come to the museum, you should stop by and have a cup of coffee!

Keith Makan

Excellent art. I went to see some dope Egyptian photography and some pieces on the history of photographic techniques.

Ivan William Dall Groven

Amazing. A must-do when you’re in SF

Kian O’ Neo

Very cool mesuem with a great collection of art. The only problem was it was a bit unclear where everything was and the staff didnt seem to know either. The food was also very overpriced. Other than that it was an amazing museum with great art pieces

SouEun Jun

Cool, neat, full of interesting Modern Art works. It was way better (in my opinion) to enjoy the works than the MOMA in NewYork which is always packed with people.

Thomas Bornheim

I was not impressed by the collection. I wish modern art museums would start to be a big more daring, and present art that invites for more open experiences. Or maybe computer and phone screens make me feel less excited about rectangular shapes? I hope others are getting more out of it! :)

Ravi Krish

Amazing Museum.. 7 floors filled with Art, paintings, photos, videos, sculptures, etc. Currently special Andy Warhol's work exhibits along with other great artists on display. Don't miss the living wall on 3rd floor,it has 19000 lush plants. Staff super friendly at all levels. It will take 2 to 3 hours to go through but certainly it will be more if you are Art fan. Museum is immaculately clean and extremely well kept. Museum contains 33000 pieces of art. I didn't count

Pobed Lavrentjev

On display is an obsolete art, good for art history or recent antiques, unless they consider ,,Modern" as a static period, frozen in time. Then I would be looking for places with a title...Art in progress, ... contemporary +... something like that. Gerhard Richter, with his controlled and calculated "audacity", and his reputation as a richest artist, bugs me the most. And his stuff occupies most of the six floor.

Chase Hansen

I really enjoyed this location. The exhibitions and collection was very I retesting to see. I would have enjoyed it more if maintenance paid more attention to care of the buildings. I noticed a lot of scuffs and marks on walls which is a bit distracting. For the cost of the ticket there should be more care.

Shai Ghelberg

I enjoy visiting this museum. There's a huge variety and a very impressive collection. It's a bit expensive and there are too many people. The new building is beautiful and very pleasant to visit. There's a complimentary coat check.

Zetao Weng

Really fun! It took us about 3 hours to casually browse through the floors.

Sheryl Taylor-Munro

Went to see Warhol exhibit and discovered so much more. Be sure to stop by cafe in the museum for a light lunch or just a snack. It's in a lovely setting, indoors or out.

Awesome museum, not to big/long not too short. Also love the building design!

Swee Hiang Poh

The themes of exhibits were attractive, especially on these three (1) Art and Architecture showcasing how the Sea Ranch was transformed into human habitat without destroying the ecology and contours. (2) We Are Here by Suzanne Lacy on the interactions she had with the women community showcased by photographs, posters and visual artworks, and audio exhibits, and (3) Louise Bourgeois Spiders with gigantic models of spiders. Educational. Entertaining.

E Carmen Torres

A beautiful structure; this time for the Andy Warhol exhibit. The exhibit very thorough and well curated. Discovered the tribute to the 50th anniversary of the lunar landing-- small and educational.

Joanna Barnfield

Great collections of different periods of art. Very impressed with accessibility and energy of this place.

Gary Ogawa

Wonderful place to spend the day, enjoying all the great works of art! Great building, fabulous facilities. Restaurant, coffee, and store. Went to see the Andy Warhol exhibition! Loved the works displayed. 7 stories of art! Large backpacks can be coat checked, or worn up front. Pictures allowed.

Lia Vellandi

This is a great museum! Beautiful since the remodel and lots to see. Plus walking distance from public transportation

Fellexandro Ruby

Spent three hours getting inspired here. Loved what they displayed at level 6 5 and 4. We went on a quick tour with Sandy. She's very helpful and resourceful in explaining the artworks in the lobby area. Thank you Sandy

Marcella Lindsay

Just a wonderful museum. Andy Warhol exhibit was an amazing surprise.

Miles Fore

Some of its cool. A lot of it I don't get. Good entertainment.

Carita Murphy

I went here last year and I'm still reflecting on my time here. Amazing works to look at. Not enough places to set my juice box down.

Josh Gate

So many great artist displays and showcases! The staff seemed fine. The layout worked fairly well to see everything, but you’ll definitely want a map on hand. Take your time and enjoy the sights.

Amber Pakos

HUGE museum with an impressive collection. Great place to see lots of cool pictures, sculptures, etc, as well as learn about the artists and spend some time introducing yourself to a plethora of perspectives and experiences from other cool humans. It's an art museum! What more can you ask for?

Lisa Ricci

Loved the Andy Warhol exhibit! Wish I’d had more time! Price was a bit much considering the massive school groups I had to navigate around, but would come back to see similar expeditions.

Vivian Hir

It is very fun to look at modern art because you can make up your interpretations and there is no wrong answer regarding the significance of the artwork. There is a nice garden wall and sculpture park where you can take aesthetic pictures of yourself.

Anoosha Sagar

Great place to explore modern art. Went during the Andy Warhol exhibition and it was amazing. They have a big and nice collection touching various aspects of modern art. Surely a must visit if you are an art lover!

Paulette Hughes

This is an iconic past time for San Francisco's post cards and for a TV show called Fuller House. These beautifully maintained homes are a colourful sight for all to gaze upon, a quick snap and you are done though. We walked about 15 miles this day and started in Union Square and worked our way across to the painted ladies and you pass through so interesting places like Japan Town.

Lesley Thomas

This place is THE PLACE for culture and embracing ideas, beauty, pushing limits, and communicating in various forms of media POV or just to simply share a piece of the artist...

Wes Cisco

Huge museum. Thoughtfully laid out and well run. It took me a full 8 hours to tour it all, with about 45 minutes of that for lunch. Tip: the "regular" food is on the 5th floor. And I could have easily spent an hour or two longer had I spent more time watching more of the many video exhibits. I will be back more frequently.

Carrie Mizejewski

I loved the experience and could have wandered for hours. There were a couple “interactive” installations that were captivating. Just an altogether great place that everyone should see. Super spacious so it’s easy to move around and feel like there’s a lot of space and place to be.

Igor Mitrovic

Great modern art museum with some memorable architectural solutions and some great coffee bars and inside gardens.

Jacob Keefer

The German Art floor has long been one of my favorite things.

Maxwell Wallace

Beautiful art. Beautiful space. They actually have a free video exhibit you can access on the ground floor that is amazing.

rdwatch

SFMOMA never disappoints. Best current exhibition; April Dawn Allison.

Aimiende Negbenebor Sela

Wish I had more time on my hands during this visit to check out the special Warhol exhibit they had, ut I breezed through the museum such that I would not have been able to enjoy the experience if I tacked that on to my itinerary. I learned so much!

Max Lawson

Fantastic museum definitely worth exploring. The art collection is vast, and the building itself is very impressive with some nice outdoor areas and views

Fandy LP

I regret that I did not buy a city pass. It spend me 25 US dollars to visit, but I would like to say quite worth it, so many floors and so many work of art to see. I almost have a 3/4 day stay here, I didn't feel hungry, I used to have two snacks between my breakfast and lunch. That's because the Museum is too attractive you will forget to eat. LOL

Judy Cohen

Warhol exhibit very fine. We had a bite in the museum restuarant. Great soup and salad.

Chenghong Wang

I went there for the Andy Warhol exhibition. It’s a very nice exhibition. Also, you can download the audio guide app so that you don’t need to rent one.

Adrian Michael Kelly

One of the best museums I've visited. And I've visited many. Superb.

Caleb Persia

So many great artists and pieces spread over a massive gorgeous facility. You could spend a day here and still miss some things. Bring some headphones and lose yourself in the art. Lovely views of the city as well. A must see in San Francisco.

Dennis Chan

An eye-opener in to Modern Art. Downloading the mobile app is a must in order to help appreciate the art more.

Jim L.

This is a huge modern art museum. With that being said, be sure to give yourself a lot of time to explore all seven floors. The museum is amazing and full of fine pieces. It is a great place to take the family or go solo and waste the day away.

Fabio Stabile de Oliveira

There was a very good exposition of Andy Warhol. The installations of the museum are very clean, organized and modern. There is a parking area two squares south from the museum. The elevators inside museum do not withstand the flow of visitors. Better to use the stairs.

Brian Wagner

This place is great! It definitely takes more than one visit to get through everything on all seven floors. So much to see. A lot of thought provoking pieces. It's fun to go with friends and you can get everyone's interpretation of certain works or you can experience some of the more interactive pieces together. One of my favorite places when I'm in the city.

GG AA

Impressive building but the exhibition did not meet my expectations. Was expecting a lot more. The LA one seems to have a better collection.

Anubha G

SFMOMA is a great spot to go to if you’re in San Francisco! The overall atmosphere is wonderful and elegant and and the artwork is intriguing and interesting. Their temporary exhibits that last a few months are wonderful and make MOMA a place to visit again and again. The museum has a wonderful cafe as well as a restaurant with high quality food as well. Great location for a half day or day long trip!

Alexander Lajes

One of the best museums I seen I'm from San Francisco and everything I go to the museum it's always a new exhibition fantastic

Shirley Armstrong

Super museum. Lots of fun & impressive changes since last visit a number of years ago. Glad we were able to visit again.

Shawn Germain

Really beautiful and clean museum. The staff was very kind. I definitely recommend going especially if you are visiting San Francisco because it is powerful and gives you perspective.

Christine Nordquist

The renovations opened up an already beautiful museum. Just saw the Andy Warhol show, it was amazing to see all these works close up. Only drawback 37.00 entrance fees! (Part was additional because of the special show).

S PC

Amazing! Six floors displaying a thoughtfully installed collection of outstanding contemporary art—started with 1960s German art. Stunning open spaces with a variety of views outside—lovely outdoor areas as well. Not crowded on a Friday in summer. We skipped the Warhol special exhibition and still saw some of his (overrated) work in other galleries. Loved the fabulous experimental photo exhibition, painting and sculpture. Can easily spend half a day or more here. Excellent and very large museum store.

Silvia Colombo

The art is amazing but at the time of my visit large portions of the museum, including the whole 7th floor were closed off. My visit was overall a positive experience but ended on a very bad note due to some of the most rude and incompetent staff I have ever experienced.

Anthea Tan

My boyfriend and I got in for free since we are students. As long as you have a valid student ID it should be free. Love this place ❤️

Kat Dej-Panah

Beautiful modern art museum, worth a visit. Great gift shop too.

Richard Schagrin

We were there years ago before it underwent a major expansion. This time they had an Andy Warhol exhibit that was fantastic in addition to their contemporary permanent collection.

Tessa Graham

This is such a wonderful museum. Was able to enjoy six floors of captivating art (there wasn't access to the seventh floor). There are a few cafes where you can grab a bite to eat as well. Lots of innovative and fresh art to explore. An enjoyable time to be had by all

Michael DelGaudio

Overall art is well curated and good for a small museum. The rooftop cafe is also work a lunchtime visit. Taking one star off for high prices and ineffective ticketing for entry.

Cynthia Stephens

Beautiful building and ever changing diverse artwork! Close to public transportation and today was an unusual Free Day! Staff are pleasant and helpful!

Joshua Covington

Millions of dollars worth of culture and creativity for just a few bucks... I heart art! It makes me a better human.

Matthew Wilson

Very good museum. A little on the small side. I expected more art work

David Negrete

Great museum with excellent art choice. It's a pretty big museum so be prepared for a long walk. The museum store Is also awesome. It has many terraces and a couple of café s with many choice all of them pretty good.

Andrew Weber

Can never go wrong at the MoMA. Great exhibits, outdoor patio and space.

Joseph Muhle

Had a great time, I love that I was allowed to take pictures to remember my favorite pieces. I would like to go again to explore it a little more.

Lasse Bogen

Great place to experience great art of all types. Easy to get around and all the info you need to see everything.

김동윤

A bit pricey ($25) for a student, but the exhibits were finely curated. I saw many pieces I had not seen done by my favorite artists.

Amanda Peters

Lots of Warhol. Great photography exhibit. It's as advertised: modern art. Nothing but.

As a tourist or student of the arts, I would highly recommend a stop over at the museum in San Francisco Great displays to see n enjoy n worth every penny you spend here

SFMoMA leveled up with the Snøhetta- designed expansion. Special exhibitions are high caliber and the location is central to downtown. Check the days / hours before heading over - open late on Thursdays and CLOSED on Wednesdays. You should plan to spend at least an hour here, and can easily make it longer depending on your appetite for / interest in modern and contemporary art.

Must visit if you are in town and have an afternoon to spare. We really enjoyed the Warhol exhibit.

John Miller

Great museum with a wide variety of artists and work. Traveling collections are a great highlight. Highly recommended.

Always wonderful art in a modern and spacious multi-floored museum. So many rooms to explore and delights to behold. Several cafes and a living wall in which to rest.

I came to visit for the Andy Warhol exhibit and was surprised to find they had cake to celebrate his birthday this week. The exhibit was wonderful and the rest of the museum was too. I will certainly be coming back soon.

The Andy Warhol Exhibit was amazing, well done, and I saw quite a few new pieces I have never seen before! The gift shop was very affordable and had a good variety!

Bernhard Kowatsch

Amazing museum for any visitor. Take plenty of time if you are interested in modern art. Also check out the special exhibitions, e.g. currently a special Andy Warhol exhibition. General admission does not include the special exhibitions. There is also a nice restaurant/bar inside the museum. There is also a gift shop located inside the museum.

Went to Andy Warhol Exhibit! Was great! And the cafeteria on the 5th floor was AMAZING! Love the MoMa!!

It is pricey, yes. But there are currently 6 floors of exhibits to look at and appreciate. They offer different ticket prices for things like young adults, kids, seniors, etc. I've been twice in the past two years and I think the exhibits change too.

I really loved this museum. The architecture was incredible and I found many of the pieces inside the museum to be inspiring. For example, I am interested in urban design and this was one of the few times that a museum included anything about that topic in their permanent exhibit. I certainly plan on going again in the future.

I love museums/galleries! If you don’t, I would at least take a look around the gift shop, so many great finds.
