REVIEWS OF Palm Springs Air Museum IN California

Jake Porter

Very nice and clean. The people working there have a first hand experience of some of the vehicles and that makes it feel personal. So much to take in. I would totally go again!

Tommy Nguyen

Fantastic museum full of history and retired planes. You could easily spend a day reading all the historical information throughout the exhibits. The staff are mostly volunteers, super friendly, and always happy to answer questions. There's also a couple flight simulator setups on the second floor you can try out, as well as lots of old original periodicals (Life magazine) from decades ago.

Zoraida Perez

Nice place! Staff at front not friendly

Pat OBrien

Best value for your dollar when it comes to see and learning about our history of flight during the various wars we have been involved in.

Musycian

Fantastic place. History lessons that you can live through.

Rosita Lopez

What a great place to see. I was in awe the entire time. Plus so many retired servicemen giving their time. How honorable

Dave

Visited last September, from the UK. Exceptional museum with such a good variety of aircraft from the US military inventory. Loved the personal guided tour of the B17, well worth the small $5 donation. Great library and collection of aviation books. Well worth a few hours of any AVGeeks time to visit.

GrandPa G

I had no idea that there was a museum in Palm Springs let alone one with amazing plans. The B-17 is not to be missed. There are so many planes to see. They have been immaculately restored. I believe that most of them are flight-ready. I was there for two hours and I had to rush around to see most things. Allow yourself lots of time. The kids love it too!

MixedFlix

My wife and visited the museum in 1998. We really enjoyed viewing the airplanes on display at that time. I had recorded a few video scenes back then and finally pieced together a little YouTube video to put up. They had some really cool ship models on display there at that time too.. very nice. You guys take care, Bill

Pierre Gagnon

If you like old planes and history then this is the place to see. They even had some old veterans from ww2 the day we went.

Chris Garris

Great collection of warbirds, they even offer flights on their DC-3 and B-17 on some days. Large collection inside and out.

Jim Bennett

Great museum with lots of history. Aircraft cover all eras of modern flight. Well run with on site veterans who can speak personally about their knowledge and experience. Museum well laid out with many hands on displays.

Jodie Eade

Enjoyed the morning here looking about. Lots of things to see. It was super hot -but it is Palm springs

Gerald Nolls

Went with Dad and sister. This place was fantastic. Even more so because of the amazing group of volunteers. These gentlemen are passionate about their areas of expertise and experiences. One of the volunteers was able to track down a jeep he'd driven in Vietnam, which he had a picture of him sitting in. He had it shipped to him, got it restored and donated it to the museum. The museum is separated into different eras. It is well worth the visit.

Heidi Smith

A very comprehensive museum with great docents!

James Anderson

Took our granddaughter to visit Santa. So much fun! The long line moved quicly and canopies were provided for shade. Great bunch of exhibits, too. They brought in SNOW for the children to play in.

Mark Smith

Absolutely Amazing. Highly recommend. I can't say enough about the place. Everyone there is truly wonderful people. Going again next time I come to Palm Springs.

Annie Peters

We went for the Memorial Day ceremony and flower drop. The museum staff and volunteers did a great job. The planes and other displays are interesting and nicely maintained. We're glad we went for the Holiday, and would probably go back to see the museum again.

Waverly Place

An awesome last minute addition to our plan!

Frank Dieterich

A very fine selection of older and newer military aircraft. All displayed beautifully. If you're lucky, they may even fly one while you're there.

Cowboy69 From Hell

A definite must do if you love planes, love war history, love piston & jet aircrafts or have a veteran family member that served. Remarkable collection and always growing I'm told. I really enjoyed talking with the knowledgeable crew that are there for information.

Clavia Juarez

Squire Brandy

Absolutely loved seeing all of the aircraft and walking through some planes you only see or read about.

Nicholas Kanning

A ton of history about Palm Springs and WWI, WWII, and Cold War Era events. Inside and outside display of military planes and memorabilia. Also has displays on some of the past presidents and Hollywood celebrities and their contributions to the military, including Marilyn Monroe, Dean Martin, Bob Hope-to name a few. This is a nice half day excursion to get away and learn something new.

Matt

Pretty large viewing of all sorts of planes! The little simulators they have in the library up stairs are fun to play with too.

Jessica Dieckmann

Very knowledge staff. Enough items and exhibits to be entertained but not overwhelmed.

Absolutely amazing museum. Staff is so friendly and informative, not to mention a good majority of the staff are veterans or have had previous experience in the aviation industry. They are so full of knowledge and really make this place special and truly immersive. If you’re in the area it’s honestly worth visiting.

Dustin Myers

Huge variety of aircraft on display with historical significance. Had a great time with family, my niece and nephew, 6 and 3 enjoyed seeing the planes and adults enjoyed reading about them as well.

Ruth Powell

Very well laid out museum. The docents are very helpfuland informative. Most (if not all!)are vets.

Don Young

If you are in the Palm Springs, Indio, or Palm Desert area, put this Air museum on your bucket list. This planes are incredible up close and personal. The personnel are mostly Vets, and will give you more information than you can fathom. You'll get to climb through a B17 and realize some of what our military service did to keep us safe. There is a snack area to grab a bite before viewing more of our winged history. Thanks to ALL the workers and volunteers for giving us and our grandsons a day to remember!!

Marla Cruz

Grat place to take kids & you have a great view of the airport. You get to see planes taking off & coming in. Absolutely Great.

Boyd Elton

What a fantastic experience. I could spend days here! Amazing variety of exhibits, and the staff are all so friendly and helpful!

Caren Oldfield

Nice collection of historic aircraft & vehicles, memorabilia from a few wars, historic video clips, ship & submarine models, etc. Nice gift store. Great kids area. Reasonable prices. There are a few veterans around to answer questions and one larger plane that you can tour inside for a "donation" of $5 or so.

Caladon Evans

Great museum!!! Loved the no ropes experience of being able to touch the aircraft. All the volunteers had amazing backgrounds, were eager to answer questions and volunteer additional information. I would go as far as saying that I prefer this over the national air and space museum and the Udvar-Hazy Center despite the smaller collection.

hughesja1975

Fantastic collection of all your favourite aircraft spanning several decades. Facilities and exhibits are immaculate. Docents are a credit to the museum and clearly proud of the collection, it's heritage and their role in bringing it to life for visitors. Big thank you to Benito for taking some great pics of us with the Tomcat and for his P-47 tales and to Lynn for his detailed insight into the amazing B-17 ( Do the internal walk around, it's a privilege!). You can even eat your lunch in the cafe under the wing of the mighty '17!

Daniel

Lots of history, plan to spend some time and look around.and talk to the veterans.

Lisa S

We spent 3 hours here and enjoyed every second of it. Stan and Mick who are veterans and volunteer are filled with spirit and so much information and truly made our visit a very memorable one. BTW:The cafe they have inside the museum has a great menu and very friendly staff.

Beyond expectation. Brilliant models, well kept aircraft that they allow you to touch and feel, and even tour the interior on a few. Excellent, helpful and knowledgeable staff. Great place to go!

Paul Wah

Great static display of aircraft from WWII to present. They also have a great display of scale model ships and planes. Four Stealth F117s will be retired and the air museum will get one of them. But most important was the friendly and informative staff.

donovan bartlett

This is a wonderful air museum. The docents are excellent and extremely knowledgeable. We were there when they were offering rides in the Ford Trimotor and the Mustang fighter for a price. A broad variety of exhibits. The lecture series is excellent. Appreciate the cafe, as well, since you will find yourself here much longer than you may have anticipated.

Mark van Gorder

The place is much larger than it looks. The Veterans there are wonderfully helpful. Thanks to all of you for your service to our country. Anyone visiting the greater Palm Springs area should set aside two hours and visit. It's a must do.

Tina Donahue

Great place to spend the day. Love the history!

Paulette Chambers

This is a wonderful air museum. The docents are excellent and extremely knowledgeable. We were there when they were offering rides in the Ford Trimotor and the Mustang fighter for a price. Hreat for all you warplane enthusiasts. Great static displays out on the tarmac, as well as interesting ones of all kinds inside the museum. The docents are very knowledgeable and great with the visitors. I had a great visit there!

Ada Avila

This place is absolutely incredible, one of the best museums I've been to. Also they have a C-47! Awesome!

Kevin Kong

Really impressive museum with lots of different aircrafts from different eras on display. Not only that, there's a lot of educational information on the wars and other types of weaponry in general. The theater runs on an automatic viewing of various movies from History Channel. In addition, there's a library upstairs with computers set up with flight simulation games and a joystick for control. When we were at the museum, they were unfortunately setting up for an event, so much of the museum was closed and the displays moved around a lot. The museum is also right by the Palm Springs Airport so you can watch planes take off and land up close at the airport.

Mark Laing

What a great cache of old airplanes! And a B-17 too. Loved it!

Carmen Gastelum

People there give you a lot of important information we were all exited listening a the stories.

Rachel Walston

Worth the price and very engaging! By far best air museum I've seen this far!

Jim Bagley

The Palm Springs Air Museum is an exceptional collection of aircraft and aviation history. Plan to spend three hours to really experience all the displays and walk through the hangers. This is a growing facility with new contributions and it is getting better all the time. Be sure and visit the resource library upstairs with its vast collection and flight simulators. There are hands on display areas for kids to learn and interact with aircraft. The docents are all knowledgeable and eager to provide information to bring the history to life. Bring your friends and family for a worthwhile enjoyable experience.

Patrick Moltrup

Amazing place. Always first class staff and events. My wife and I came back for the memorial day event. Everyone is helpful and it's a lot of fun. The planes are so great. I have one suggestion though. The food made available during the event was not good, and it was difficult to get too because of the amount of people. I would suggest allowing food trucks to come in, park in a line and allow them to sell food. It would work much better. We will be back, love the museum and everything you do!

Jgsushi

Excellent aviation museum! In my opinion, there are 4 main highlights in this museum. 1) They have an excellent array of wartime aircraft from WW1 and 2. Accompanying the aircraft are stories from the war, artifacts and many primary sources. 2) For aviation enthusiasts who are typically more interested in modern day airliners instead of military aircraft, there are perfect views of the entire runway surface at the Palm springs airport. If you're like me, you'll want to catch air Canada's 737 MAX 8 which flies in and out of Palm springs a few times a day. 3) There are a multitude of veterans from various wars milling around, eager to tell their stories and share their experiences with visitors. 4) My other favorite part of the museum is the simulators and aviation library located up on the second floor. Everything comes with the price of admission and aviation enthusiasts can get lost for hours!!! Overall, this place was incredible and interesting for both enthusiasts and normal people. I highly recommend it! If you stop by the Palm springs visitor's center, which is at the base of the road that leads to the Palm springs aerial tramway, make sure you pick up a pamphlet, which gets you $2 off of each ticket.

julie biersmith

Oh my gosh, if you have a couple hours. Go here. Its incredible Nicest people, great collection

Maryhelen Billingsley

Very informative love the Air Crafts and old Cars.

Joshua Alvarez

Loved coming with my family, always had a fascination for planes. But most grateful for the those who have served and are serving our country.

Kaydee August

It was so cool how they take care of the museum and it's very nice to walk around you learn a lot of things.

Russ Brown

Outstanding collection of planes. Plan on a few hours for your tour as the amount of planes, displays with articles will take you that long. Well worth the charge for this visit.

Lance Sorensen

The museum is one of the best air museums I've visited, I've been to several. The added bonus of the squadron of T-34s doing a fly-by demo in formation was a wonderful treat. It's a must visit when in Palm Springs. Many retired veterans on hand to offer stories and details.

Ali Delgado

Top notch air museum. Great exhibits and friendly, knowledgeable docents!

Edward Coleman

Great planes and supporting exhibits. Volunteers made this a great visit.

Blair Van Vliet

Like so many visitors, hate to leave, check their calendar and try to stop in when they have something flying, take the kids for sure. They will love the prop riding contest.

Nadine Ahrenbeck

Seems that it is a place founded by some guys with the same passion. At least nothing very interesting and for 18 bucks a bit too expensive.

Linda Sorensen

This is an excellent museum staffed by a large number of volunteers. We we're fortunate to attend on a day with the T34 fly in. It was great fun to watch them start up taxi out, take off fly in formation & come on back. I particularly liked displays on women in aviation & Viet Nam Pows.

Bridget Ashton-Patty

Cool war planes & knowledgeable volunteers - some even veterans.

John F. Rohlfer

Very well kept. The volunteers work hard on displays and get involved with visitors

A place where you could understand how terrible the world war is, and how soldiers protect our life even though they know they would sacrifice. Thanks, the great soldiers.

trish Miller

It was great. The number of different planes kept it interesting. The staff was friendly including the techs

Roger That

One of the best air museums I have been to.

Jennifer Samuels

A great way to learn about history and a fun venue for an event as they host many community and private events.

Michael Giesler

A must see Museum. A lot of U.S military history. Lots to do and see, even flights in restored military and commercial aviation planes. Very affordable and family friendly.

Rosa Bartlett

This is a wonderful place. It has an amazing collection of WWII planes which were my reason for visiting. I was allowed to sit in a Spitfire, which was one of the planes my father flew. It was an incredible experience to clamber in, sit in the cockpit, hold the controls and imagine being up in the skies in a dogfight with the enemy. The museum staff were incredibly knowledgeable and very charming to us Brits.

April Cobb

Super friendly volunteers, who are very informative and very friendly. They all seem almost like family, and like they really care about the museum, which makes it really pleasant to visit. Great place to take kids as they're not very finicky about touching or getting up close to the planes. Really think this was the best part of our visit to Palm Springs, and next time we'll bring kids!!!

Jess Friedman

Palm Springs Air Museum is home to aircraft from World War II, Korea, and Vietnam. All of the aircraft are in flying condition, and some can even be booked for private flights! (That was just a biiiiit outside our budget…) The docents were all veterans, and it was really neat to talk to them about their experience and expertise. We got to tour an A-26, for which my husband's grandfather was a mechanic during the war. It was really neat for him to get to get a glimpse of what that was like. My favorite part of the visit was definitely watching my husband's face light up every time he spotted something new. He was like a kid in a candy shop, and we both really enjoyed our visit.

Edward Pages

One of the best airplane museums i have been to in a long time..absolutely unexpected to find such a big plane collection in the desert area..totally loved the four different hangers with the different era of planes..my son loved that he could actually touch n be close to the planes n a few had accessability n u could go inside.

Kim Anderson

Amazing place to visit with kids. Volunteers love to show the aircraft and stories.

A J Brown

Amazing place right next to the airport. The attendants were very helpful

John Kamauff

Absolutely fantastic Air Museum. Wonderful volunteers, and what an opportunity to see vintage airplanes actually flying. Cant miss it

Margo Christou

The volunteers are top notch. Spent the afternoon there with the fam and it was a lot of fun.

Peter Boon

Really great place to visit with beautiful planes and friendly volunteers willing to explain amazing background stories. A tour on the still flying B17-G is the best.

Daniel Wolfe

Nice place to land and scout thru older world planes of eras gone by on the fly.

Jeff Stover

An amazing air museum for such a small town. World war II fighter airplanes that actually fly. Jets from modern era with excellent people to share all their knowledge with. Great place for special events. Yearly Memorial day flower drop from B-17 airplane. Many great special programs and lectures throughout the year. Excellent food at "Freedom Fighters Cafe" located inside the Museum.

Jonathan Dautrich Jr.

Volunteer staff was very friendly, without being too pushy about wanting to talk. Was great being able to walk right up to and under almost everything, without a bunch of barriers everywhere. Absolutely loved the extremely detailed models.

Isabelle Rodrigues

An amazing tribute to amazing men and women. A must see!

Tony K

Incredible museum if your into aviation and history

Tony Kokab

Loved this air museum. Very well organized. Lots of planes. Lots of helpful volunteers around, happy to answer questions. The cafe was fantastic. Just an all around great experience... highly recommend.

Martin Derouen

Super interesting and very well done. Talk to actual ww2 pilots who flew the plane. Highly recommend

Tom Jacopi

Way better than expected. You get great access to planes as you are so close you could touch them. But the real stars of the museum are (1) the small exhibits and (2) the docents. There are many small displays such as cut away models of ships that are so incredibly detailed as one could spent 15min just looking at one. Plus every docent we interacted with was knowledgeable, friendly, and discussed their subjects with the enthusiasm of a kid. A very enjoyable visit.

Ted Crippen

Sped hours here just soaking up the history.

Sandy Williamson

Great history volunteers simulators and airplanes. Love it want to spend more time...learned about 900 gliders that took troops and jeeps far behind enemy lines on dday

caryn mason

I went with a friend and expected to be bored but the tour was so great I'd go back! These guys volunteering their time are pilots with amazing stories. Beautiful location, too.

Ralph Tarpey

The aircraft are very well presented throughout history. Very friendly staff/volunteers to receive additional information and chat with.

Sumayr Sekhon

All the exhibits were well maintained. Lots of different aircraft to see with plenty of knowledgeable veterans eager to talk about them

Terry Richard

Very nice displays lot of information. Lot of different planes

JB Brown

Best air museum I have ever seen so lucky to have such a wonderful place in the valley.

Jeffrey Cooper

All types of aircraft and events. You can walk up to the planes and get the real scope of them. Staff is awesome and knowledgeable

gloria gaxiola

Loved all their volunteers. They truly enjoy answering your questions and guiding you to important details that would be very easy to miss without their help.

Denise Cooper

Very impressive museum with well preserved planes and extra information to understand the context of when they flew.

David Yinger

The Palm Springs Air Museum has a sizable collection of flyable World War II aircraft. Composed of three hangars currently, the museum offers details about the aircraft on display, personal stories from the docents, and exhibits the Pacific Theater and European Theater in separate hangars. Since many of the aircraft are flight-worthy, sometimes the aircraft are in a torn-down state for annual inspections and maintenance. This allows you to see the inner workings of radial engines and cable controls that would otherwise be concealed from view.

Chon Becerra

Great staff and hospitality. Keeps the memory of our armed forces alive for generations to come. Their Memorial Day event is tops!

Paul Lauher

Great museum with lots of helpful docents. Nice collection of aircraft, with flying status C-47 as well as P-51 that go out regularly.

Aj Mock

Great place, wonderful exhibits, was able to walk through a B-17 with a couple tour guides who were very knowledgeable.

Evelyn Leon

Awesome place to visit with family and friends. Very helpful and respectful workers around. And over all amazing site and history.

Darren Van Soye

Props and hops is the bomb (literally). This beer festival occurs once a year at the museum. Great to see and hear all of the classic planes from the past. The beer is pretty good too.

Jenny Baker

Fantastic set of planes and war memorabilia to look at. Go inside a cockpit and they currently have a B-17 bomber to go inside (for a little extra donation). It does get a little hot; there does not appear to be air conditioning.

Perry Strebel

Went to volunteer for a gala benefit held there. The entire catering staff was most friendly and helpful. Also the retired WWII plane pilot's that volunteer there are most knowledgeable in regards to the planes housed at the museum Going to go back for a complete tour. Awesome!

Punit Joshi

The PSAM was fantastic, and a person who appreciates history could easily spend 4-5 hours there, if not longer. There are a number of aircraft on display (both WW2 era as well as Korean and Vietnam war eras) and also some modern aircraft. They have a good interactive kids section, and a whole hangar section dedicated to a B-17 that you can tour, though there is a separate suggested donation (read fee) and a height minimum. Overall a great museum and totally worth seeing. I was on a short timetable and thus might have seen only about 60-65% of the place.

Christopher Bauer

Our Indian Guides tribe visited and loved it. Really enjoyed the B17-G and talking with a number of vets about their experiences. Lots of great planes and exhibits. Our boys loved the flight sims and were given exceptional instruction.

William Bracken

Nice air museum which is partly still being set up. Some of the museum is a little crowded with exhibits but learned some more about the various branches of the military.

Carlos Hernandez

Beautiful place a lot too see an learn.
