Great place to learn about our past or just to walk around with the family or a date. Visit this museum at least 1 time.

Julien T.N

I love this museum mainly for its LA History part very well documented and illustrated

JBaby343

Interesting exhibits. Super clean. All the staff was friendly and helpful. Lots of information to take in and lots of things to see.

Phoebe Van Buren

Came here on a Saturday afternoon with free admission since my boyfriend had free tickets from AAA. Not too crowded or loud. Very clean. Loved the animal exhibits to see the African and North American animals. The backdrops for the animals made me feel like I was right there in the environment. The dinosaur exhibit was amazing too! There's also an insect exhibit - not too large, but you can see a centipede, millipede, hissing cockroaches, and more up close.

Jim Z

Great place for kids as they grow up. Variety of subjects from today to millions of years ago. We go at least every year. Loan area in the basement is great for school projects. Parking costs $15 and avoid the area on Rams or USC game days since they share parking.

The Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County is the largest natural and historical museum in the western United States. Its collections include nearly 35 million specimens and artifacts and cover 4.5 billion years of history. This large collection is comprised not only of specimens for exhibition, but also of vast research collections housed on and offsite. The museum is actually an association of three Los Angeles area museums: The Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County, the The Page Museum at The La Brea Tar Pits in Hancock Park and the William S. Hart Ranch and Museum in Newhall, Santa Clarita, California. The three museums work together to achieve their common mission: "to inspire wonder, discovery, and responsibility for our natural and cultural worlds. Entry to the Natural History Museum is 6-14$ based on age. There are admission charges for some of the special exhibitions and events.Members admission free. Parking is not free you need to pay 10$ based on timing.

If you love the wonder of dinosaurs, this is the place for you! Dinosaue

Christopher Carver

This museum had a lot of dinosaur bones. So far, it's been the best museum that I've ever been to. There are lots of things to see. Many items are unique that I have not seen anywhere else.

viraj ambetkar

The dinosaur hall is really awesome! The kids loved the fossils of so many dinosaurs. All the exhibits are neatly labeled with lots of information. Some exhibits, like the fossil finds in the dinosaur hall, have been made interactive for kids. The museum is very spacious and informative. Parking and connectivity from the metro is not a problem. The cafe has limited options, but has healthy items that are not too expensive like other museums.

Heather Pham

We got there early, so parking wasn't too bad. The Natural History Museum felt a little hidden behind the science center, but staff was able to help us find it. All in all a great day at the museum!

Corina Rao

Certainly a good place to visit with your kids of any age or go on your own. I love their gems collection. The garden and butterfly house is great to see in the summer time. Parking is easy to find but a bit pricey. I like the architecture of the building as well and the proximity to other places you can visit.

Hien Hoang

Great place to visit with your children during in the weekend. There are a lot of things to see and learn.

Christina Meek

Me, my husband and our 3 year old son traveled down to Anaheim and LA for my 29th birthday this year and we had the pleasure of visiting the LA Natural History Museum. I was looking for something fun to do with the family but that would also interest our 3 year old. The woman who helped us at the front desk was very sweet and informative. It was our first visit and I'm looking forward to going back there is so much to see and learn a out here and they had a wonderful dinosaur exhibit! Our 3 year old loved it so much. (He is in love with dinosaurs) they even had interactive things for kids as well.

Trevor Price

I love this place! Easy to spend a while day looking at all the different exhibits. Definitely going to purchase a membership!

Ignacio Vela

This is the most incredible museum! Definitely I'm gonna come again!

Lucy Xue

I really love this museum mostly for how much they contribute to the community. They host a lot of educational, family-friendly events and are very active in promoting citizen science. They keep track of different species of plants, animals, etc by encouraging people to send in photos of things they see, and have published really helpful and accesible books to educate the public about the local wildlife. The museum itself is fairly small, but all of the events and etc really keep me coming back over and over again.

Kalyan R

It was a lot different from the last time I went as a boy. The museum had great displays, interactive activities and lessons. So it was amazing. There is so much to see. Museum cafe was pricey of course but we went anyway and it was good too. Definitely liked and remember the display with the species of animals, the rocks and minerals, and fossils.

Jay Perez

Fun for the entire family. My youngest daughter loves dinosaurs and the dinosaur exhibit was awesome. My oldest loves gems and minerals~ the exhibit was just fabulous not to mention they have a "gem store" in case your interested in purchasing gems which we did. Very fun and educational~a must see!

Nathan Stein

It is a really cool museum. I particularly liked the animal dioramas. I would not go there on a regular basis, as they do not have new exhibits that frequently.

Manaia Pio

The way the museum is set up is very confusing and unorganized. The displays are very spread out and very empty and boring. Was very bored and done after like 30 min. It was a waste of money. The science center next to it was much more interesting and fun.

Faith Rideout

One of the most interesting museums I've ever been to. Filled to the brim with information and exhibits to keep you occupied for hours! We happened to go on a day when there was a special even going on throughout the garden and had a great time! We got a college student discount and only ended up paying 24 dollars for two people; which for something that will keep you entertained for hours I think was an amazing deal!

Daniel McWhirter

This is one of the best museums for kids and families in LA. Staff are super friendly and you get the feeling they actually want people to visit (ahem, LACMA....). The grounds and architecture are a key part of the draw for me as an adult. I enjoy taking half an hour in the garden just to read or mediate or watch the birds. Only down side, coffee from the cafeteria leaves something to be desired.

Noemi Banuelos

It has a kids area for them to play, explore, and draw. It has cool interactive screens to explain what you are looking at and has different rooms that are each interesting.

James McDonald

Great museum with vast exhibits of dinosaur skeletons, bones, facts, curiosities, and fun. Well done information and educational sites too. All this for a bargain price.

Alexa Ynfante

The exhibits are great and well taken care of. The butterfly pavilion is a must see during the spring and summer season.

Kate Anderson

I visited with my family during "Dino Fest" and if it weren't for my two young kids, I could've spent hours here. I didn't realise there was an 'outside' area until we'd already decided to head off, so in regards to inside the building itself; the displays, setup, information, etc. was really well set out, the building itself is gorgeous (very moody!) and my kids enjoyed the things that were hands-on. My cons: The bathroom situation [as a woman] is horrendous; the two bathrooms I went into had 3 and 2 stalls, so long waiting lines. I don't know what was happening with the queue to enter but as we left, the line to get in was insane (almost down to the nearby road). Could've been because of the event itself. Not realising there was a whole area outside we could've explored because it wasn't explained to us/no signage/etc.

T Thelland

Very cool museum with lots of displays of different animals in their natural settings. The galleries are in beautiful wide halls with lots of space to move. Several benches are provided next to the natural displays so is a great place for artists to skefch. The gemstone exhibit was phenomenal with thousands of different gems to view. The seashell and bird exhibit also surprisingly comprehensive for the small area it was presented in. The history of Los Angeles was very enlightening as well with photos displaying how areas were centuries ago, and how they are now. The display goes on with many paintings and pieces with plaques telling the story of settlers, wars and progress. The arctic dinosaur exhibit was not as comprehensive as I thought and focused more on how arctic explorers did their job (interesting but not what I expected.) So I'm not sure I would see that part again. Luckily only a temporary feature. Also several kids activity areas, so if you have young uns, seems like a fantastic place to go with interactive learning displays, face painting, drawing, "digging" and several displays of fossils that you are free to touch and feel. Just be ready for the long line to get in on a Saturday afternoon. This is why I give it 4 stars - they do provide shade for once you get closer to the doors but I'm still not 100% why the line up was as it was.... You stand fifty feet from the doors where you actually buy tickets inside and staff allow you to enter in intervals. Unsure if this is for fire safety but jt seemed almost like the wait was fabricated in order to encourage you to purchase a year membership, since once purchased you could get in right away.

Emily Chiong

We went on a weekday so it was less crowded. My kids enjoyed the Hall of the Mammals, as well as the dinosaurs. There are a variety of exhibits, which make it interesting for everyone. Overall, it is a very nice museum.

Stephanie Arteaga

A good place to explore and learn. Good for kids and adults alike. There is a lot more to see now than in previous years.

Danielle Marsh

Lots of cool things on display, and loved that they have the animals in displays that replicate their ecosystems. I’ve been here before with my friend and we somehow missed 1/4 of the museum (the birds, shells, and dinoLab) so be sure to use the map they provide on entrance. I do wish that there was more on marine life (especially considering that over 50% of life is found in the ocean) but overall a nice day out.

Zombie Snacks

Best museum in socal. The kids love coming here every chance they get. If you live in LA, a membership is more than worth it!

Tania Milian

It was fun for the whole family. The water area was the highlight of the visit for my son. I wish they had more interactive activities for children.

Shari Lisenby

Here are Antarctic dinosaurs. So there are many dinosaurs and very good fossils. It is a very interesting experience to explore the history of Los Angeles here. The exhibition of minerals and gems is very good. I stayed there for about two and a half hours. If only adults come, they should stay here for a longer period of time and be disappointed.

Christopher Zepeda

I love dinosaurs and ice age animals. The arctic dinosaurs exhibit was a magnificent place to look at. The only downside is that they sure love to price gouge you a lot it was 60 bucks a person for the arctic exhibit. Just be careful when you buy tickets here and make sure you get what you're paying for.

Colby Wakeman

What an amazing place!!! Our kids 5 and 2 absolutely LOVED it. Seeing all the different dinosaurs and was definitely the highlight. We went and saw the butterfly’s. Definitely worth going. Be sure to get tickets when you arrive at the museum! They let people in in timed groups. The kids loved seeing and watching all the butterfly’s fly around and land on things.

Ricardo Quintana

Excelent displays and exhibits. Mixes old style exhibits with more modern ones. Building also has an older section and a newer one great architecture. Lots of animals and dinosaurs exhibits very well explained. Also interactive activities for both kids and adults. Don't miss the gardens or the old entrance facade outside.

Rocio Alejandro

My 1yr old loved the museum! We arrived right when it opened, so we avoided the crowds. I bought a cute dinosaur book for her in the gift shop. Everyone was super helpful! Very enjoyable experience.

Luca

The museum is big, there are a lot of things to visit. You can travel the world by going around the corner, that's amazing. You can see scientists working on fossils, very interesting. The staff is very friendly and helpful, they will approach you even if you don't ask for their help. Very beautiful location.

O L

Many sections within this museum, it would take you a few hours to see everything. Great useful and accurate information is provided here. Kid friendly and super clean inside.

Sarah Mertz

Great place for kids and adults to learn about all things dinosaurs, the natural history of the LA area and beyond!

Sarah Tiedeman

This was a wonderful addition to kind of a sad trip to California we were so happy you were able to stop by and at least enjoy the museum in LA the staff is very nice and the museum very well laid-out multiple levels of enjoyment also we partake in the butterfly Atrium and a couple different movies and a couple different things that we're going on in the museum it's so nice to see that there's different things going on still

Jess I

Unlike other museums in the US, the Natural History Museum does not age limit the student discount. As a 30-year-old graduate student, I am grateful for this. I, also, appreciated the humility presented in the dinosaur exhibit. They offered an easily understood explanation for how and why our understanding of dinosaurs changed across the years; including saying something along the lines of "we got it wrong."

Steve Urbina

Fun as always lots to see and can't ever leave without a souvenir or two

Richard Uranga

The Museum was a lot different from the last time Immany years ago. The museum has great displays and the classic displays with the dim hall with the animals and scenery (taxidermy) , interactive activities for children, and even lessons ad well from the knowledgeable staff of scientists. There is so much to see and not enough time. Museum cafe was pricey of course but we went anyway and it was good too and we were there during lunch time. You'll be happy there for sure, a lot of selections for drinks or food. Definitely liked the experience at the NHM and remember the amazing displays with the species of animals, the rocks and minerals, and fossils.

Dorian Ness

One of the cities treasures! Worth every cent, excellent exhibits, interactive and easy to navigate. For an additional $6 you can see the Oceans 3D (totally worth it) and Antarctic Dinosaurs (interesting but somewhat lacking). There's a small cafeteria with abundant indoor/outdoor seating. To be honest I could write a book on this place and still wouldn't do it justice. I suggest wear comfortable shoes, take your time and enjoy!

Brenda Moya

Brought my 3 year old. He is super excited to see all the dinosaurs. 9/7/19

Kranthi N

It's amazing, I felt like all the animals were real

Morris Martinez

One of my favorite places to just hang out. I recommend everyone get an annual pass here.

brenda zuniga-garcia

Amazing place. Definitely take advantage of the free Tuesdays. My baby and fiancee loved it. Coming back again soon

Beta Zed

Better than I expected. I went for the gem/mineral exhibit—which was awesome btw. The “LA”exhibit was also quite good.

Sam Mills

I love museums. $66 Good deal for two adults. The architecture of this one is wonderful. Two central atriums that lead out into exhibits for dinosaurs, gems, rainforests, etc. The special exhibits were butterflies and Arctic dinosaurs. The next special exhibit is going to be about spiders :)

Cesar Cruz

It was so wonderful, I bought a membership for the family. You definitely want to take your time and enjoy your experience. Bring a lunch and enjoy it in the garden or buy a tasty meal at the cafeteria.

The Elite Friends

It is a great place to go to get great information about the world around you!

Miranda Martinez

Went to look at dinosaurs. Was a little disappointed. Was hoping an expecting a little bit more then a 5-10min walk through. Was actually looking forward to looking at big dinosaurs, however there was only a total of 5 little ones. Over all loved the other animal exhibits.

Ya Boy Mycroft

Staff are all super helpful and friendly, the Becoming LA exhibit is also extremely fascinating and super well done.

Anthony kruzic

Great place to take the kids,or us older kids. Great exhibits, an some great interactive exhibits as well. Take a walk out to the Rose Garden on a nice spring day it is amazing. Also have a great cafeteria in the lower level and terrific gift shops with very unique items. You can spend hours inside just walking the exhibit halls, all air conditioned. The Science and aerospace museum is just a short walk away and is tremendously interactive friendly. If you haven't been good summer day adventure.

frederica smith

Such an educational treasure. Beautiful, clean, informative. The kids love this place and I can find no fault. It's big so definitely comfortable sneakers recommended. Six stars in my book.

Maria Delgadillo

Loved it .❤❤❤

J D

A wonderful setting, and a great deal of learning possibilities. A oasis of natural curiosities. The problem is some of the employees; rude, indifferent, especially toward children. I witnessed this on various occasions. A better hiring screening process, more training. Service, and conscientious employees, would take this Los Angeles institution to another level.

M&M Sister Vlogs

I simply LOVE visiting this museum. As a homeschooling family/member, we spend quite a bit if time researching and diving deep into topics. This location has so many wonderful exhibits that we are always able to get the details and specifics we desire. The addition of the 3D theater as well as the Pavilions during the different seasons are TONS of fun. Parking is 12 bucks cash which is not bad when you factor in all the things included with a family membership. There is a restaurant, and tons of room for kiddos to burn off some energy as well. We plan on doing the overnight stay this year for a Night at The Museum type of experience!

Melissa Thorpe

Had a good time. There are a lot of different things to see, but many of the buttons and lights do not appear to work in the Birds section. Immensely enjoyed the Butterfly Exhibit, as well as the Gemstones & Minerals. Was excited to see that teachers and military (both active and retired) get in for free.

Kevin Moore

Great place to take your family lots to see and take pictures of and other activities. Just make sure you research anything extra they may have for a limited time so you dont miss anything like seeing the butterflies!!

Daniel Perez

Awesome place to take kids. The giant dinosaur set ups brought tons of excited cheering and the place was clean and well kept. They have a cafe and multiple gift shops. Recommend taking 5+ kids for the education and cool exhibits.

Mark Campbell

This is the best place ever! Came here as a kid and now come with my wife and son. Great displays, constantly adding something new, and love being a member. Highly recommend to everyone no matter the age.

gabriela mondragon

Really big place. Good exhibition. Fun place for the whole family

Mike Firestone

This was great, fantastic building with incredible art and fossils to look at. Definitely a must see if visiting Los Angeles! Great for kids of all ages too. Staff were very friendly and helpful.

Maria Cerda

Great museum, with so much to see. The Gem and Mineral hall is amazing. Lots of dinosaurs, all sorts of bugs and animals. You definitely want to wear comfortable shoes, because you will do lots of walking. There is so much to see you will need an entire day to enjoy all the neat exhibits. Lots of fun things for the kids in the Nature Lab and Garden. There is also a section inside with tables where you can eat. You do have to pay for parking and addmision to go in the museum, price is very reasonable.

Kai Ker

Got to go here super nice.......keeps you intertained ....so many Bonez to See

Eli Ebrams

I love this place. It's huge and free on certain days of the month

Subhi Nahas

I loved the exhibitions there. Although, I had time to see only a few. I was lucky they had the Arctic Dinasours exhibition! It was very well done projections, storytelling, and models. They also had an extensive collection of other dinosaurs, which was mesmerizing!

Kevin Morris

A true Oasis to visit in Los Angeles. Yes amazing exhibits inside but if you haven't been to the new nature garden then you need to come checkout this beautiful place to relax

Thomas Lin

Great museum for adults and kids. Very informative and educational.

Denise Hotchkiss

Beautiful building and lots of really interesting exhibits. Fabulous gardens as well. Good for the whole family!

Ashley Jones

This is a really cool place! So much to see & do. Definitely a spot for kids! They'll be busy for hours! Well maintained & staff was friendly also. Check it out when you're in the area.

Judy Wilson

This is of interest to any age, filled with great dioramas and explanations for the dinosaurs, and all exhibits. I liked the gems display and many others. Downstairs, you will find a large Lego installation of the Jurassic Park jeep and a dinosaur standing in vegetation---all made of hundreds of Legos. While 1-2 hours will do it, what a good way to learn!

Laura Lee

AMAZING!!!!!!!! This on your to do list. Watch out for the spiders on display they’re dead. But spiders for me , NOPE!!!!! Had a great time

Theresa Flores

We visited this museum while on my daughter's spring break. Besides all of the permanent exhibits, like the Gem & Mineral Hall, which my daughter loved, the Nature Festival was going on at that time so that was a nice bonus. We also watched a short film about Predators that was very interesting. Since we visit family in the area regularly, my family will definitely go back to this museum because there's more to experience.

Chris Banning

One of the best museums on the west coast. Been going since 1960 and I love the animal dioramas that are done so beautifully. There are very interesting exhibits on Ancient Egypt, Insects, and much more. Food is available. Parking is available. Highly recommended for a family outing on the weekend or if entertaining visiting guests. Science Center is nearby also located in Exposition Park. The Space Shuttle is there.

Kris

Awesome experience. Dinosaur exhibit was amazing

Greg Stone

We had a really great time visiting here a couple of weeks ago. Hours of fun and education at a very reasonable price. The dinosaur exhibit was very cool and I recommend it to anyone interested. It isn't a place I'd go more than once a year but I would definitely come back the next time they had a new exhibit.

Khanh Pham

Small museum Very cheap price on crystals. But they are tiny shapes. $15 parking $free for la residents after 3pm $15 entrance fee Really cheap for a kids day I think. Got many rock and minerals. Some art works

Alicia McReynolds

Great place for family trips. Maybe not for littles but there is something for everyone.

Antonio Beas

It's a great place where you'll see learn a lot and be able to see how huge dinosaurs were. It's an excellent place for all the family!!!

Brenna Ray

I recommend that any and everyone visits this museum. Not only does it provides outstanding visual and fossils, but it's a great learning experience.

Brittany

Great museum for everyone of all ages. So much to see and so much to read were going to have to take another trip to see it all. Gift shops, convenient restrooms placed throughout, changing tables for parents. Tip; for parents bring a small stroller for your kiddo. Some parts of the museum are more narrow and it's hard to get a full sized stroller through without pushing people out of the way.

Christine Thompson

The Natural History Museum of Los Angeles is a gem of Exposition Park. It is easily accessible from the blue line and downtown buses. It is a beautiful space, from the marble halls int sure to the native pollinator gardens outside. There are endless rooms and exhibits to explore; I recommend the Gem & Mineral Hall and the taxidermied birds. The facilities are accessible and the staff is knowledgeable and friendly.

Kendra Williams

Good place to live out your inner archeologist and paleontologist. Interesting exhibits even though I'm not into the whole taxidermy stuff. Got the package of the exhibit and two 3-D shows. The shows were ok but too many kids talking loudly and parents not telling them to be quiet. Butterfly exhibit was the good, as was the reptiles and insect exhibit. Cafe pizza wasn't the best and the water tasted like nasty tap water.

Vladimir Volosyuk

Very good collection of dynozaur skeletons. Great place to bring kids.

Ethan Robson

We had a really great time visiting here a couple of weeks ago. Hours of fun and education at a very reasonable price.

Walter Flournoy

This museum had a lot of dinosaur bones. So far, it's been the best museum that I've ever been to. There are lots of things to see. Many items are unique that I have not seen anywhere else.

Derek Bair

This museum is the real deal. There are plenty of dinosaur fossils, the halls of taxidermy animals sorted by continent, and lots of different things to do and see that will take up an entire day or more. Unfortunately the day that I went the museum was having a 'bug day' and some of the exhibits were closed and infested with children and insects. It made for a more interesting experience and a reason to go back. It's well worth the price of admission and a great place to take the kids, family, date, or even just yourself. It's also a photographers buffet and an excellent place to test our new cameras and practice.

Kumar Perinbam

Amazing place. Been there 3 times and I always like. Spent about 2-2.5 hrs

Alvin N

I took my family here today and we had a great time. The museum was extremely busy for a Thursday since there was what looked to be a elementary school having field trips for all of their students, but the teachers and chaperones did a great job of keeping control of their kids. The staff were very knowledgeable and friendly and my only regret is not living in this beautiful state so I can take my boys here more often.

Stephen Smith

The website is one big unclear advertisement. I had to drive 7/8 of the way around to find parking. The parking was $12, not the website $10. The website was unclear saying entrance is$14 for adults. At the window I was told it is donation only. After paying for a fifty minute movie, we watched the film went into the museum only to be told we needed to pay extra for the exhibits we wanted to see. Very disappointing ☹️ experience.

Dani Settineva

One of the coolest museums in exposition park! I have visited this place many times over the past decade and still love it and never get tired of coming here! The museum is huge, very difficult to cover all of the exhibits in one day. One of my favorites is the gem stones room full of beautiful stunning jewels. Diamonds are a girl's best friend as Marilyn Monroe puts it. Parking is expensive and limited and you do have to walk a bit to get to this museum from the consolidated parking area. Bathrooms are clean and staff members are very nice and helpful.

Drones in Pursuit

I was immediately impressed upon viewing the great expanse of this museum. There are exhibits that will impress each member of your family, each exhibit being very comprehensive in their field. However, if you are short on time, I would first recommend going to the gem and mineral section, and then followed by the dinosaur hall, as both sections were extremely interesting. One could easily spend all day in this museum without losing interest at any time. Overall, I would highly recommend coming here.

Tanya CELIS

We have the family membership and it's great. We can go to any exhibits or see any IMAX 3D movies as many times as we want. We love the surroundings too, kids have a lot of fun.

Stoner Wars, Are You Ready

I absolutely love the wonders amd beautiful sites this museum offers. The exhibition they share keeps me being a member and exploring. Thanks

ELENA ACOSTA

BEST PLACE FOR THE ENTIRE FAMILY. LOVE IT!!

Colton Whitmer

Very cool. Dinosaurs and gem display was good

Lyndsy Faulkner

This place is so cool! My friend (who is a teacher) and I took our three kids, ages 6, 8 & 10. They all loved it. There's so much to see! It was a great day trip and I will go back, even though it is quite a ways away from our house. Great experience!

Michael Smith

It was a good day and there's really a lot to see. Some of the hands of the exibits need some TLC. I highly recommend taking the kids the dinosaur exhibits are phenomenal and the dinosaur puppetry was the best part of the day.

Santizo Alvarez

Nice learning experience for kids and adults happy to be a member and enjoy the nature walks . If you like a peaceful environment where you can walk and learn this is the place.

R. Ortiz

Amazing place to engage kids and grownups alike! Friendly and knowledgeable staff. Incredible collection. HIGHLY recommended!!

Dodgers 84

Had a fun time with the family. My kids love to see the history of the place

Kenneth Bubar

Haven't been here in years, but went back for a random adventure, and it was cool. Animal exibits are a bit old timey and they look like the same ones I saw as a kid 30 years ago, but also kind of nostalgic. The dinosaur exibits are still top of the line, and cool to see. I visited the entire museum without watching any movies, and was out in 90 minutes so I was hoping to kill a bit more time, but outside of that it was pretty enjoyable.

FaithFull Fitness

Absolutely amazing. Best museum I've ever been to. Had so much fun.

S. Fields

You can spend endless hours at NHM not only to pique or sate academic interests or curiosities, but simply as a fun diversion for the entire family. This city's gem has free admissions FIRST Tuesdays of every month and EVERY Tuesday in SEP (*NO free admissions in JUL and AUG). While you can take advantage of this, consider supporting this LA treasure via membership or donations if/when you can afford it.

Becky Holt

Very cool museum, and actually the whole reason we stayed in LA for a day before flying home. Really great display of animal history with well designed exhibits. The dinosaur hall is what drew us here, and we were not disappointed. It was a little bummer to learn that a lot of the skeletons on display are cast replicas, but they're no less impressive. Especially the T-Rex fossils. They also have a pretty good place to eat - with better food than most museums we've stopped at.

Jill Christie

A great natural history museum! Lots of dinosaur skeletons!

Corbin Lack

It has been over a decade since I've been here and the experiance was exactly the same as a small child. Full of wonder and excitement the moment we walked into the main hall and we saw our first set of bones.

Trisha Ruelas

This place was absolutely amazing! I have an Arizona science center membership-which gives you free admission to other center in different states. I have been to the ones in Vegas, Seattle, Oregon, Tucson, AZ and the discovery cube in California. I would have to say, this one is my favorite. There is so much to see it's amazing.

Christopher Gorman

Absolutely love this place. They have redone the dinosaur exhibit and its freaking awesome. Plus the gem room, is retro but also a classic. I also cant forget the hall's both mammals and Africa. They are classics from when i was a kid. would like to see an update in the halls. I know i am asking too much but wouldn't it be great if the creatures were there with a video wall that had actual video of the described location with small lighting and sound effects. Again dreaming here. But it"s great for the whole family. And remember they have a free day every first Tuesday of the month. (Except during high seasons)

Mike Mackintosh

Love this place. Always something new to see or experience. Went during the Spider Pavilion and it was a nerve wrecking experience, but quite amazing. Also the Endeavor was free for viewing as well!

Tita O

I am watching Los Angeles in a completely different way! The exhibition of how Los Angeles come To be is fantastic! And the dinosaur, the gardens, the roses everything is an invitation to rediscover our city.

Jody Castle

Fabulous dinosaurs of the Antarctic exhibit! Great detail on field operation & challenges to exploration. Such a wonderful way to spend an entire day.

Enrique Beneterra

Great place for the family. We left a water bottle in the Museum Store on 7/31. Lemmeknow.

Victor Garcia

The natural history museum of Los Angeles is a wonderful place for families with young children. Our family attends the annual L.A. Nature Fest. The kids take home so many freebies from the sponsoring companies that we often have to walk to our car after visiting the booths just to drop off all the stuff. The younger kids are always in awe when they see the dinosaur bones. Excellent place to learn and grow as a family.

Paul Rios

Were on excursions in this museum. Well, it wasn’t very interesting, but the children really like the museum. Many exhibits of animals of different species. But adults are not so interesting and nothing impressive.

Michael Marschner

Awesome exhibitions. Very educational. Not a low cost place to take kids.

It was my first time back to this amazing place in 20 years. And it has changed alot from what I remember. But let's just say I needed to visit because of the dinosaurs and to find out they have an actual dino lab inside was mind blowing to me. The renovations from what it used to be based on my memory have definitely been worth it. I am definitely coming back as a member.

Amazing!!! The butterfly exibit was great. Staff is very helpful and polite.

Laurie Chaidez

It was really great, although we didn't see it all! What was the best part was the butterfly garden!!! Lots & lots of different kinds of butterflies! LOVED it!!

One of my favorite museums in LA a great place to take the kids, and for everybody to learn new things

Frances Peterson

GORGEOUS, huge, well done. Far from parking. Variety. Gorgeous architecture. Visually a treat. Nice staff.

Wonderful experience. Lots of fossils and stuffed animals. Very clear explanation printed in front of each exhibit. Also, there are staff members in each hall ready to explain.

Amazing place, loved the Rose Garden, so underappreciated.

This place is an excellent place to take your children or even for adults. It has everything for everyone to enjoy. It has a garden, a place for kids to play and to learn about insects and animals.

One of my all time favorite places in the world. I've been a member for the last few years but a fan since I've been 5. My son is the second generation museum enthusiast and just like dad amazed. The exhibits are great with much information to ingest The live shows are one a kind and so is the staff. It's a very intimate museum that makes you feel engaged at every stop. I seem to always find something new to learn and see, even though I've been here over a 100 times. I love you Natural History Museum of Los Angeles

Great place to learn about our past and see exotic things like dinosaurs, mayan or aztec pots, or the lifeless body of a though to be extinct fish. Overall fantastic and affordable.

Graham Kettle

Excellent place to teach the kids. Plenty for adults to learn as well. Well set out exhibits. Only minus star ... food way too expensive.

Kenneth Salazar

One awesome museum, there are multiple floors in this building and its full of wonders!. If you have nothing else to do on a date I recommend coming here you will not regret it. You have to pay for parking and the entrance for the museum. I highly recommend this place!. Also try to bring cash because if you get the munchies there are vendors outside with snacks.

Been coming here for 35+ years, but now with my own kids. Just love the place.

Chad McGill

I loved the exhibitions there. Although, I had time to see only a few. I was lucky they had the Arctic Dinasours exhibition! It was very well done projections, storytelling, and models. They also had an extensive collection of other dinosaurs, which was mesmerizing!

Chris Meredith

Parking can be challenging, but not impossible. This is a great place for children to see and learn about many different things from dinosaurs to gem stones. The butterfly pavilion is a must if you visit.

Neda Bridgeman

My 3 year old loved this place. He wasnt scared at all. The kids area was very interactive.

As oposed to the CA Science Center there is an entrance fee. For a family better off buying the yearly membership which is a tax deductible. Great exhibitions definitely can't take all in a day.

So glad we got their membership since we enjoy attending their exhibitions and events. Kids learned so much from meeting a real paleontologist and different types of butterflies from their butterfly pavilion exhibition. Looking forward to attending their bug fair and dino fest! If you don't mind your kids being wet, they have an outdoor splashing area!
