this is a wonderful cultural resource with an amazing collection | they are always putting on a wide variety of interesting programming that will appeal to multi-generational audiences | the staff and volunteers are so friendly | very well run | it is centrally located and easy to find

You will not want to miss a trip to the museum. Set aside a few hours. There is so much to see and feel. There are historical tangibles that are sacred and kept safe here. I was changed after a tour. Lloyd was so generous and knowledgeable. A real treasure.

This Venue is Amazing! It has rare /out of print books like the Original ...12 Years a Slave, the First published book by Phyllis Wheatley, Slave journals/letters, newspapers, films, movie posters...so Much! A Library, Musuem, old prison cells! A virtual TREASURE TROVE OF AMERICAN HISTORY. MY SOUL WAS ENRICHED!

Lots of great art and African American historical photos and documents. Excellent place to host an event; they have a stage for music. We came here for a political fundraiser and saw Aloe Blacc and Ganda Boys perform. Don't miss this cultural gem!

This place is truly a gem, and I'm very surprised more people don't know about it. There is a treasure of civil rights movement archival material here, from print over sound to video, huge music archive, the place can be rented for film shoots, and on specific Sundays there are live jazz performances with amazing musicians.
