This is a must stop and see. Not only do they have a great museum with so much to see and much of it hands on (you can sit in the trucks etc) but the staff are so incredibly knowledgeable and friendly. I could spend a few days looking through here!

A terrific remembrance of life on THE ROAD. From a model t to a VW love bus, from military memorabilia to the typical dinner, it's all here (and don't forget Roy Rogers and Dale Evans!) I loved this stop along Historical Route 66.

Amazing and historic...full of memories of my childhood and my parents generation. The staff is knowledgeable and helpful. Lots of fun gifts to buy in the gift shop. They gave us a hand out "An Auto Tour on Rte. 66" Victorville to Barstow that I read after leaving the museum. We drove part of the tour to the bottle farm. Thank you to the people who made the museum possible.

PerrynTracy Beard

We were greeted by our guide upon entering the museum. The display of items dated back to the 1920's to current brought back a lot of memories when I was younger traveling Route 66 from California to Indiana. Loved it all.

A small unimposing building pack with so much history. When we went we met two German couples visiting dressed in 1960's apparel, an added plus for our visit. This place had so much history... cars, restaurant settings, books and other memorabilia. Entry is free but donations are accepted. More than one visit is required to really see everything. Lots of Roy Rogers stuff also.

Lynnie Bell

Well worth a visit, very friendly and helpful staff and route 66 memorabilia, it's also on the original route 66 road

This roadside attraction is fee free and managed by volunteers, and is a little gem of a place that reminds us of the lost era. The artifacts are amazing and well maintained. Overall, an outstanding and well decorated place which deserves much more accolades, especially being the non-profit venture it is. (Note: Previously stated as Family owned. Updated this misinformation after response from the owner).

Shell & Woody on the PCT 2019

Worth a visit, everyone was friendly and a good place to buy some Route 66 souvenirs. A real shame that a classic diner can't be incorporated into this, it would work really well, even if it was just shakes and coffees.

Keith Barry

Just had to share my superb experience here. Every volunteer is so engaging, interesting, and enthusiastic at this delightful museum. All lovely people. It has a wonderful collection of Route 66 items, along with those of its Western heritage, local telephone exchange equipment, radios and other a myriad of other things. Thanks to Lou, a US Air Force veteran (who was based in the UK for a while), I learned the origin of the car transistor radio. It's financed by donations and sales in its shop; so do put some money in the pot or buy some R66 related merchandise to let it continue its work.

Kyle Ackerman

This place deserves more than 5 stars! Another excellent Route 66 icon keeping the Mother Road alive. This place is full of great photos, literature, props, ect. The staff is very knowledgeable. We are from Arizona and passionate about our stretch and these folks are the same way with California! Highly recommended by a family of true "Roadies"

Chris Welch

fabien hecquet

Thank you very much for the kind reception ! Thank you for your advices !

Dottie Hagood

Small museum filled with Route 66 memorabilia. Friendly, helpful, knowledgeable staff. The museum had so many items that jolted my childhood memories. Most kids today would not have any knowledge of many of the items here. Great museum to visit. Have been to museums across the country, big & small & this is definitely one of my favorites.

Meshweida Carter

So many great antique items to see. Nice t-shirts too

Edwin Guzman

great people

Alima Muhammad

Went to Greyhound bus station; did not visit the museum.

The museum in Victorville is comparable to the Route 66 museums in Oklahoma. They have a large variety of displays and the docents will talk history with you if you choose to do so. Be sure to get a copy of the hand-out that is next to the donation jar, it lists all the landmarks between Victorville and Barstow.

TIMOTHY COLE

Lou is a volunteer here and he made the experience for me! From stories of his own experience to stories from the items in the museum, he really helped to frame my understanding of the pieces of Americana in the museum. I definitely encourage people to check out this free museum.

Chuck sr Daniel

Route 66 is one of the most stunning highways in America.

bruce robles

This one is great. Lots of memorabilia displayed in a relatively small space. The staff are extremely friendly. I talked with 4 volunteers who work there. Three of them were veterans which gave us something in common. Everything from a display booth from a 1950's style restaurant to a VW microbus with all the "Peace" and "Love" slogans on it. And painted flowers as well. Other pieces showing both the history of Route 66 and displays about the local area. Highly recommended. The only downside is the limited hours. 10 AM to 4 PM on Monday thru Saturday and 11 AM to 4 PM on Sundays.

Robyn Adams

Chatterboxlove

I know the hours can be a little bothersome, especially when traveling Route 66; however, this place is full of so much history and photo ops. Bob and Lu were the two volunteers we interacted with the most and we SUPERLY enjoyed their company, stories, wealth of information, and smiles. Highly recommended stop both for adults families. Glad we decided to stop here on the way out of town after arriving during closed hours the week prior. Take a photo with the giant Hula girl or in the VW bus. Phenomenal seriously.

Derick Somner

This was such a great find. The staff are the friendliest and show a true love for Route 66. They welcomed us, showed us around, answered questions and told us about other great stops on our trip. Plus, they let you sit on some of the displays for pictures like the old Ford model T. We will definitely be back!

Marlem Palomo

Super cool to see all of the old and obsolete stuff they have at the museum. For older generations it will bring back wonderful sweet memories. I truly enjoyed it. The docents are very knowledgeable and extremely friendly. Go and have fun. Oh, also great Route 66 memorabilia for sale. Don't miss it.

Fillipe Lopes

Awesome. Lots to see. Be sure to take picture on the Ford Model T

Eric Tam

A very small museum but if you're in the area you should stop by and check it out (there's no admission fee but please consider donating and buying some souvenir). Staff here was friendly (I think most are volunteers) and they have a Model T you can sit and take a picture. Walking through here, you do see some history (they even have a Motorola phone from the early 90's) including telephone switch board, washing machine and fridge. They have some cool souvenir and reasonably priced. Hours of operations vary so do call ahead.

Teresa Sherman

Very nice people!

Katina Carter

Great museum for the young and the old. History for all to see.

mike angelo

Very interesting part of Americana. Super nice lady works there that provided great tips about places to go on the route and life in Victorville. Look forward to exploring the route further and seeing America as it once was.

Caio Slikta

Very interesting museum. Go with plenty time so you can listen to the volunteers amazing stories. (Lou has pretty funny ones) Lovely staff.

Annie Nelson

I can't believe I've lived here for 20 years and never visited this Museum. It's a cornucopia of so much history in our area. It made me realize how old I am since I recognized so many of the objects including an outhouse. My friends and I couldn't have felt more welcome! The docent there was amazing! It's a completely free museum run by volunteers but donations are appreciated. I'll definitely go back now that I've found this fantastic Museum in the high desert.

Randy Putt

Super informative staff. Lou is a legend... what he doesn't know about the local area and route 66 is probably not worth knowing. Great opportunities for pics and gifts. I only wish we had put more time aside to spend longer in there. Defo be heading back to catch what we missed out on. So much to see in there. Truly amazing place!

Mike Brown

What a find! Exploring the high Desert and came across this nugget of a place. Had the opportunity to get a private tour from a board members what treat.

Christoph Thaler

Interesting people's and stories about the history

Tony Tanz

A great little museum to visit. The car park isn't the best for motorcycles. They've laid pebbly gravel which makes manovering more fun.

Wesley McClain

This place is awesome. I stopped by here back in October to find a Geocache, and ended up inside for over an hour. There is so much history about the historic Route 66 as well as local history and automotive history. It’s amazing how much stuff they can fit in this place. If you have the time to stop by, I highly recommend it, and make sure to give yourself plenty of time to wander around!

Dcosta F

Very interesting the history of the famous Route 66. When wartime rationing and travel restrictions ended in 1945, Americans took to the road in unprecedented numbers, and Route 66 entered its golden age.
