This park is gorgeous, easily accessible and provides plenty of outdoor options to suit just about any picky person. Wanna hike/run/bike some trails? Yep, LDSP has plenty of those with varying degrees of length and difficulty. Wanna gather some family or friends for a nice picnic- OK yes this park has tons of picnic tables and even larger verandas than can be reserved online. Are you looking for a place to dry park your RV- there are over 100 spaces for you. The park even just opened some cabins last summer (Aug 2018) that allow visitors to "camp" with a few more amenities.
We really enjoyed our visit to the Superstition Mountain Museum. The staff was super friendly and helpful. We found that the museum really helped us all understand the draw and appeal of the mountain. It also helped us get a better feel for the history of the area. My daughter had read the Superstition Mountain Mystery series by Elise Broach and really wanted to visit the area. I'm so glad she did, we all found the stories and legend very interesting. The museum itself isn't very big but it's packed with information. There is also quite a bit to see on the outside, as well, including some old movie set areas. Well worth the stop.
Check out the outdoor train set during the winter and you will not be disappointed! Perfect for all ages! Awesome!
Loved it. Friendly helpful staff. Very interesting
Authentic old town with gunfight reenactments every Saturday. A fun day.
This is a treasure for Mesa. There’s is lot of astounding history to discover. I enjoyed the inside museum that tells the backgrounds stories of the wildlife, the mines, the gold hunters, the cowboys, and the soldiers - including my favorites The Buffalo Soldiers. And then the walk around the complex after brings to life everything I learned inside. Great experience for all.
We were able to watch the stamp mill in opreation. Very nice
Great place to see some history. And an awesome movie set.
Very beautiful place. Be careful driving around the steep mountain and be prepared to spend some time driving.
So much fun with the kids
Beautiful location and a bunch of historic information
So much history and fun shops with a great story
Elvis church !? nice old west atmosphere rattle snake keep an eye out
Fun place to learn about Superstition Mountain and its history bring comfortable walking shoes and plenty of water there are a lot of trails behind the museum so be sure to not get lost it can get awfully confusing and you can lose your direction really quick. Don't forget to go down the street and visit Goldfield Ghost Town that's what we're the real adventure begins
Extremely cool. The most hammered and shredded looking mountain range I have been to. Tons of history and it looks like the setting of a great Western. Also the legend of the Lost Dutchman Mine is centered right around this area, hand it's hard not to get pulled into the lore
Great little museum, lots to read about history and past gold miners. Great souvenir shop.
A fun place great with the kids.
This museum is small but has a ton of fabulous exhibits about Apache Junction, the native American peoples in the area, and a lot of info about the lost Dutchman's buried treasure. It was definitely worth the trip. Also if you're over 55 you get a dollar discount making the entrance fee only $3. Can't beat it for the price!
I liked the exhibits. Nice walking around outside. Was not crowded so we could take our time and read everything g and enjoy the pieces we liked the most.
Everyone was friendly. The museum was interesting.
An interesting historical place to stop in! A neat model train set not to be missed, and much to discover!
Very interesting. Worth the trip. Allow a couple of hours
Fun place to visit
What a fun way to experience he history of the Superstition Mountain area. Everyone who works and volunteers on the grounds are knowledgeable and kind. My son loves to visit and pretend to be a cowboy for the day. The outdoor part of the museum is free to explore and the indoor is beyond reasonably priced. And the views are spectacular.
Great place to stop. It was our first stop while in the area. Nice gift shop. Lots of cool stuff to see. The model trains were very well laid out. Unfortunately they were not doing demonstrations the day we were there. We will return to see the demonstration another time.
I've always loved Arizona!!
Such a beautiful mountain, so much history and hiking , camping, good conversation all around no matter where you stop. Get a map of the area and start exploring .
Interesting Elvis chapel, great photo ops, and the only walking labyrinth I have ever seen in this area.
The people are so nice and very knowledgeable. My family totally loved the whole museum.
Attended an outdoor concert there buy Domingo de la Gracia. It was such a beautiful setting with the sun setting over the superstitions. The mountains for a glow with the sunset!
Hiked to the top of the Flat iron this morning. 6 hours round trip. Awsome views!
AMAZING!!! Loved the preaceful dessert and Mountains. Loved the singing birds and random lizards. My husband and I loved our adventure to The Superstition mountains.
Nice place to spend a few hours viewing where so many old western movies were filmed.
Very cool place
I really liked this exhibit. I would very much recommend you stop if in the area.
Loved it here!! Great experience and the people who worked here were amazing with the knowledge and history of it!
A place where the old west has been preserved like the OLD LIVERYSTABLE AND THE ELVIS PRESLEY CHURCH FROM THE APACHELAND MOVIE RANCH.....where my wedding was held !
They were great . My daughter's wedding there was beautiful.
Neat place to walk around, they had plaques naming different trees and cactus. Old mining equipment, gift shop, and little museum.
Much more interesting than expected. When we piled three grandchildren and 5 adults ages 6 to 74 into the vehicle and headed out to visit the museum, some were grumbling a bit, but as soon as we arrived, everyone perked up and started exploring. The biggest surprise was that everything except the actual museum was free. And the museum was inexpensive especially with 17 and under free. We hiked around the trails and explored the old equipment, petted the animals, and took in the Elvis Church as well. The highlight was the 20 Stamp Mill, where they did a live demonstration of how ore was processed from big rocks into fine powder. It was very loud and totally worth the whole trip. It runs each Saturday morning at 11:00. Don't miss it!
Lots to see. And lots of history!! A must visit while in Az.
Didnt get to spend much time here..due ariving shortly begore closing. Wonderful place. VERY VERY pet friendly. Water stations set up for animals. And we were told our dog can go were ever we go. And shes a pitty. So friendly.
Rustic piece of history that my adult daughter and I found to be packed with local mining (and movie making) history. The little railroad was not operating due to non-peak season maintenance. There is also a several picnic tables and shaded areas to rest
If you are in Scottsdale and are looking for a nearby place to visit, this place is worthy of consideration. There is a nice gift shop you can get into for free. Insider there is a nice museum that you can visit for a fee (I believe $5 per adult). The folks there were very friendly and knowledgeable of the local area. There is some phony stuff to take pictures at (fake jail, stagecoach, Boot Hill Cemetery, etc.). There is also a church that was in the Elvis Presley film Charro. This is not the original church. The town where the church was burned down year ago. They say the church was moved here, but may have been rebuilt. There is a large figure of Elvis on the altar where you can take pics. An interesting place to check out, but if pressed for time, you won't miss much.
I loved this stop on a road trip through the area, this particular stop has plenty of "old west" town movie buildings and sets to view and explore, a short walking tour, and a museum that takes about 20 minutes to walk through. All was well done, educational, and just enough to satisfy a curious person about the history of the area. I'd highly recommend a stop here.
Great place to stop! Nice museum, sights to see, and helpful people.
I love being a Volunteer at the Superstition Mountain Musum... in the Gift Shop and General Store. The Museum is an awesome work in progress developing new exhibits and adventures each season. I even visit when I'm not volunteering. It's a wonderful place to be. Hats off to Jeff (Event Planner/Volunteer Coordinator)and Dave (Gift Shop Manager).
It is nice museum to visit. If you like old western movies with lots of cowboys, you should visit this place. The white church on the ground was used by Elvis for his western movie. You can also see many old mining equipments. There is nice gift shop where you can purchase local gifts.
Beautiful mountain .Well run state park
Very cool little museum. The whole place is volunteer run. Admission to the indoor museum is $5, but all of the exterior exhibits are free. We came on a day when they demonstrated the stamp mill. The ground shook when this big beast of a machine began turning big rocks into little rocks. Hard to imagine this machine is over 100 years old but still runs like new thanks to the efforts of the volunteers at this museum. The museum inside has lots of interesting displays highlight life in the area and legends concerning the Superstition Mountains.
Staff was really nice and I really liked the church.
We loved our whole experience here, the views were beautiful, the stamp mill was incredible to see in action & we all found treasures in the shop. Can't wait to go back!
I only visited the Elvis Chapel today due to doctor appointments. The host was very friendly and gave us a little of the history. I do plan to go back soon. I know it will be an enjoyable day when I do. This Chapel is Beautiful. Take the family, you can't go wrong on this outing.
Cute little shop set against the beautiful Superstitions
Quirky, interesting, great volunteer staff, beautiful setting.
Great day on the apache trail. Beautiful scenery and goat to see the mountain goats! Tons of them they were right next to us in the valley and up on the cliffs
Very interesting - great volunteers
Very small museum and when I was there at 2pm the Apacheleand store was closed. In fact a lot of the attractions were not operational.
Excellent place to learn a lot about the local history of the Superstition Mountains. The gift store was absolutely fantastic and was filled with high-quality books about Arizona and southwest history, folklore, Native Americans, and the Wild West. We especially liked the large selection of locally mined semi-precious gemstones. The staff and volunteers at this Museum we're all very friendly and helpful. Be sure to have a hat and water because it gets hot when you're walking around the grounds.
Very nice visit for us, the star of the show was definitely the Dutchman and his sweet donkeys. It gets hot so bring water, most of the attraction is outside. There is a general store and the gift shop where you can find cool things and also water bottles in case you didn't bring any. Everyone there was friendly and knowledgeable.
A great way to spend a Winter or Spring afternoon. Learn Arizona history. Everyone is friendly and will answer any questions. The view of the Superstition Mountains are amazing.
Podunk is right. This place is cute and historic but a little ran down.
I loved it .....better then tombstone. Train is cute, old mine perfect for little kids, mystery house, seeing the animals. Spent 3 to 4 hours, wish they had the museum open during the week. Beautiful mountains in all of my pictures. Ice cream is really good, and fudge. I will go again!
Very interesting and informative. The guides were very nice.
I liked here better than Tombstone, lots of interesting history
History....in your face. The rocks, maps, artwork, books, hand written ledgers, mexican disemboweling knife (my fav)....small museum but packs a punch! Look at everything, all has a Superstition story attached. We live in the best place on earth. Az history is amazing!!
A fun place to spend your morning with family
I have stopped in here several times for a quick bite and for just some old west entertainment. It is definatly within the old west character and if you haven't been worth a visit for sure. They seem to be adding new attractions as well.
The museum itself might be small but it has a ton on information. They are well informed and have up to date information on the Lost Dutchman's gold. Love taking my family and out of town guests there. Plus they have festivals and are continously expanding.
This stop was so much fun! The staff was very engaging which made the visit a lot of fun! Highly recommend it!!
Free little museum and chapel. Not as much as goldfield further up the road
Great collection and information on the areas moning history. Very informative.
Really enjoyed The lost Dutchman mine. Great for family outing.
On the Apache trail, this museum is a great way to spend a few hours. On Thursday afternoons they offer a lecture with topics relevant to the area. I.e. the amathyst mine, the wild horses of the Salt River, the Superstition Mountain history. It is free, one needs to bring own chairs , it is outdoors. Setting has been used in several movies. If you are interested in history, The Superstition Mountain Museum is an easy pull off the main rode to visit. It is situated with the Supersition Mountains as a back drop.
Is always good to see the while west. Love it
Enjoyed the visit and although small it was quite informative. Employees were courteous and polite. The giff shop was fairly priced.
Nice museum. & store
Great museum and ghosttown! Friendly staff, photographers welcome and lots of community events. Plus the Elvis chapel
Interesting place. Lots of things to do and see. All day would be overdoing it, but easy to kill a few hours here.
Old westerns aren't my style but it's an enjoyable stop if you're into the history and atmosphere. Didn't get to see everything, but the people and vendors are nice.
An awesome area museum, with a lot of Apache Junction history. So very happy they were able to preserve many icons of our little town, such as buildings from Apacheland, the Grand Hotel sign, the Mining Camp Restaurant sign....and many other interesting items from the area. They also have a great special event space. The views are simply stunning!
Not a great deal of things to see when we went. Some of the stories were great and the people were very friendly. I gave an extra star because we were let on for free because they were honoring vet's and their families for their service. We were told there is much more at other times of the year, but we did not have that experience. Worth a visit if you are in the area though. Wouldn't go out of my way though.
Stay away to crowded. Hikers horses angry jeepers. Way to crowded to enjoy
Nice view... Very peaceful.
Lovely scenery, walking trails. Gift shop.
The float was great. Proper foot wear is a must for walk back.
Great Time. Loved The Elvis Chapel.
I really enjoyed it here. While the it is small, it is packed with information and visual stimulation if you enjoy history. The museum itself is clean and well organized for the small space it is currently occupying and boasts loads in local history. The staff is extremely friendly and knowledgeable and I am looking forward to returning with my kids. A must see if you are by the Superstition Mountains. There are a few walking trails that are great for beginners and still enjoyable for more experienced walkers as well. The scenery is stunningly beautiful and never gets old. In certain seasons, they also have gun fighters and mule/donkey rides for the kids as well.
This is a new and growing museum but you should definitely come here and throw money at them to support their work. They are trying to raise money so they can do a lot more interesting demonstrations. It's worth the long drive out here. The stamp machine demo was super cool, you will definitely want to see that if you can, it's a very unique opportunity. The museum itself is very small, about 30-60 min to see, tops, but it has a little on a lot of different areas. The gift shop is pretty cool, lots of interesting books. The volunteers have a lot of enthusiasm and can answer questions.
Really nothing there to see. Kinda disappointed
We stopped at this beautiful park before entering Superstition Mountains which were breathtaking!
It's a nice place to take a day trip with friends and family. Will definitely be back.
There's not *much* to this place and it's a bit non sequiter (a replica movie church and Elvis shrine, a barn with... barn things... a model railroad, a functional stamp mill), but what's there is solid and has a nice atmosphere.
Fun for kids and adults! Free Will Donation. Great Gift Shop!
Had a great time viewing what man and mother nature had to offer. Do impressed with the majestic view of these mountains. Lots to do on Apache Junction
It is well worth seeing
Our 3 year old loved the trains. They even had a Christmas train running. And of course he had to have a bag of polished rocks for his Treasure
I worked in the Chapel as a volunteer. I loved telling everyone about the movies, actors and things that happened years ago in that area.I loved talking to people all over the world that visited there.
Super fun place to walk around and get a feel for the old west. I love to go there for western shoots with all the barns and open areas it's perfect for that. They have a indoor museum and places for picnic. Fun place.
We live down the street and stop in a few times a week just to relax and be amazed by the beauty
This is a must see. Must see the Stamp Mill Demo. Lots of history here to see and learn. Great place.
They have great events here, the kids always enjoy hiking around, and the staff is friendly. My boys already want to know when we're going back!
Friendly, knowledgeable, and fun. This is a must stop for any visitors, and a regular visit for locals looking to relax and enjoy some history. The train display is amazing. Be sure to check it out. Amazing views of the mountain on the back lot!
Interesting place. Neat buildings to walk through. Lots of history there. Museum is worth the $5 cost to walk through. Very educated volunteers provided lots of good information.
Great place to visit all kinds of interesting souvenirs for purchase. Make sure you go see the church!
Jim is a gem. Very knowledgeable.
This is a wonderful place! The staff are courteous and very knowledgeable. So much history of the Superstitions. Amazing!
Love this place! I'm in awe of the mountains & I've seen them 100's of times. The praying hands are a spectacular pic too
Cool little place.
It's a very special place. The museum gives you lots of info about the local plants, animals and history. The staff dressed up in period clothing and played fun characters. The grounds give you plenty to explore. Including model trains, mining equipment and the movie sets used in the golden age of Western film.
Not worth going to. Boring. Not informative.
We really enjoyed the outdoor talks about the history of Apache Junction and Apache Land. The gift shop has a wide assortment of memorabilia, too. A "must do" for visitors.
One of the best and least expensive little museums with incredible exhibits indoors and outside! $5 adults. $4 seniors. Old barn, gallows, and chapel from Apacheland Movie Ranch, amazing outdoor train villages (only Nov-May Fri-Sun), a few trails, general store, good gift shop, ore grinding equipment displays including a huge stamper, burro rides, nice photo ops, picnic area. Stage coach with photo ops. No on site food, so take a picnic and allow plenty of time for the place, especially if you go on one of the days when they have one of their guest speakers/presenters, Heritage Days, or exhibitions.
Interesting place if you go be sure to check out the reptile show!
The outdoor train sets are great entertainment for kids, some history, but better than across the road in the tourist trap
You just have to see it for yourself!
The history of the museum, the church that was used in Elvis Presley's movie Charro, and the fact that it's old. The West comes alive here and in Goldfield ghist town.
Really interesting with lovely staff/volunteers
Interesting facts about the Lost Dutchman mine. A lot of history here and things to do. Great for kids and adults.
Had a great time touring the place. Different relics spread throughout the property. Look closely and you'll see bones, old heavy buckets, etc. Really interesting items of note: maps showing the location of the old ranches (would be awesome to see a current day overlay on that showing roads), how the Superstitions were formed including rock samples, the old church and buildings, the drag stone mill, my favorite thing was the giant photograph showing a cattle roundup shot from the same position on the property today. That was incredible! Stop by the general store for an ice cream or soda, get your squished penny from the machine, lots of places to stop and rest for us old folk. I'll have to return in cooler weather to see some of the stuff that was closed for the summer.
I really enjoyed this museum. Keep in mind you can get a free pass if you visit your public library. Anyhow, the museum has 2 parts- the paid part is their indoor exhibit, and then they have some historical artifacts on the outside. The indoor exhibit took me a little over an hour to see. It was small, but if you take your time reading each sign, it can take a bit longer. I saw exhibits on animals in the deserts, Indian artifacts, geology of the area, and then also displays on the history of the area as well as stories of people that tried to look for the lost treasures. It was interesting to read, albeit it was a bit text heavy and sometimes the font was a bit small and tiring on the eyes. The older man walking around the exhibits was very kind and knowledgeable and really strived to add that personal touch!- kudos to him. The outdoors part was very fun as well. It took about an hour and half to walk around and carefully look at each exhibit. There was a chapel dedicated to Elvis, old mining and stamp mill displays, historic houses, and even a mini railroad. So much to see! It was still a bit hot though, so make sure to bring you water.
Nice hike and views. Very crowded.
Although I only visited this place because of my uncles funeral it was very nice. And the fact that he loved this place is all the reason for me to like it.
It is a fun place to adventure there is so much to see. If you are looking for a place to let all you worries out or to talk this is a great old western place. Cheers for a taste of the wild wild west.
Had a lot of fun, this place is fantastic.
This was a great museum showing very interesting facts and photos of the area. The volunteers there are very polite and helpful.
Absolutely fantastic! Everyone was very kind and knowledgeable. If you can, go when the trains are running! Quite a sight to see!
A neat place to visit that is close to Phoenix.
Great place to learn some history about the local area. Be sure to walk the trail out back beautiful views of Superstition Mountains. People running the museum are most helpful.
We really enjoyed this hike we took. There are so many different trails to choose from here from easy to difficult.
Beautiful mountain range and an awesome drive. From here you could go take a couple lakes and go down to fish Creek Hill. Must stop at the museum's and Goldfield.
It was a great experience...so beautiful m.
Kinda a neat little museum. The model train is amazing.
Great park. Plan to live there in the future. Always clean, friendly people and lots to do.
The rich history of our beautiful Superstition Mountains is perfectly displayed in this wonderful Museum!! Love it!!
Fun place to visit
This is such a hidden gem. So much history and you are taken back in time! Make sure to walk through the museum (read all the interesting facts about this towns inception) and the elvis chapel.
We were intrigued up until we reached the museum, staff was too busy talking to each other.
Very fun place to visit, lots of old Western style buildings to see. Lot of different ways to see the desert Train rides and horseback riding available.

Awesome place to visit while in town for a graduation!
Lots of neat little shops and a cool mine recreation you can tour through.
Cool place to visit and explore
If you are going this way it's a fun stop. There is a working blacksmith on the weekend who is happy to share his knowledge. There is still memorabilia from the days it was used to make movies.
It's a neat little museum of the surrounding peaks, the native peoples who believe them sacred, and the US history surrounding it all.
Very good place to start a tour that will be one of the most beautiful drives you ever take. Excellent!
If you enjoy western history and lore then this is a must place to visit, with Superstition Mountains as a backdrop, this is a place full of historical events.
nice please to stop during the trip :)
Always fun to go visit. The friendliest people working there. Very well maintained, the train display is awesome.
Really enjoyed reading about the Superstition Mountains
Attended market at the museum which featured artisans from Mexico : jewelry , rugs and sopbisticated pottery. Friendly atmoshere delicious food.
If you are looking for a great road trip destination while visiting or just for the day, head east not west! Great little museum and the gift shop has some great books about the Superstition Mountains and lots of great gifts
The amount of history displayed in the space was very informative
