Nice place, clean and well kept.

It looks like various people have cared about the stories told within the museum...at some point. Unfortunately it looks and feels like the building has become a dumping ground for anything and everything donated to Az historical society in the Flagstaff area as the place is crammed full of items to the point that some things were pushed underneath displays or into corners. It's a neat building and has some cool stories to share, but it needs to purge all the extra stuff cluttering up the place and decide on which stories and items to showcase.

Located just outside North of Flagstaff on hwy 180 is a must stop specially for your kids and history buff! Plenty of parking and handicapped friendly. Please wear shoes and NO sandles. There's small rocks on the grounds and lots of walking plus stepping up to do! Take lots of pictures or video those magic moments with your family. Check for business hours.

Nice little museum. The exhibition was great and the outdoor area was nice too but there are better places if you are interested in old machines and stuff like that (for example the Monterey County Agricultural & Rural Life Museum) the absolute highlight was the old Steam Train in the front part.

Steam engine locomotive is very cool

Katherine Armenta

It is a small museum but, it was great to see the past preserved. To have the ability to see what was used by people long gone and the struggles they went through and the fight for survival. Well it's just amazing.

Guadalupe Sanchez

Awesome place veterans are free

Septimiu Chiorean

Muzeu foarte interesant care presupune că vizitarea atât a unor exponate in interior cat și in exterior.

Great hands on exhibits about northern Arizona.

This is a fantastic museum of the history of and around Flagstaff. We've lived in the area for almost 25 years and have never visited the pioneer museum here in Flagstaff. That was definitely an oversight. My husband and I spent more than 2 hours here looking over the many historical artifacts inside and out. They are nicely displayed and alot of them are arranged by decades. There is an incredible amount of information. Kudos to the association who has collected and maintains this museum.

Manuel B

The museum was impressive with lots of interesting information. It doesn't look like much from the outside but it's packed full really cool stuff. And don't forget to walk around the outside.

Lovely little museum, stuffed with exhibits too. Pulls no punches and tells the truth about local history and minority experience. Well done!!!! Great outside exhibits also.

Wonderful curators on site to show you around or let you wander and enjoy on your own.

Kevin Byrd

We love this place. So much fun and the junior curator challenge was a real challenge. No 12 train and the cabin are wonderful. Best of all was the staff. Friendly and knowledgeable. Also they gave us an exceptional rec for a local lunch spot that was right on. Take your kids here to the pioneer toy room. Our girls didn't want to leave. Thank you to the Flagstaff Historical Society. Your museum is fantastic.

Come learn something new about the days of the pioneers! Not only is it a wonderful museum, but they host events, as well! Talk to them about parties, meetings, or weddings!

Mark Brown

Great little museum! In a region where nature (i.e. the various national parks) is the primary draw, this wonderful institution shows the unique and fascinating culture and history of its human inhabitants. In a way, it completes the picture.

Ronald Perry

We had the most wonderful time and learned so much about the history of Flagstaff and surrounding area! The people there were wonderful and spent time talking with us and answering our questions! We loved it Ron, Helen and Anne

We really wanted this place to be fun. But maybe had unrealistic expectations. It is a quaint museum that showcases some interesting history. It's also a wedding venue. Odd.

Came here for the Flagstaff Wool and Fiber Festival on June 2, 2019. They have many historical buildings like cabins, barns, and root cellars. The museum itself is an old house and there's plenty to see. They have old farm equipment like plows and other machines display. The festival featured lots of booths selling things like alpaca scarves, spinning wheels, and other knit goods. The best part was the petting zoo! There were sheep, alpacas, goats, and even Tibetan Yacks!

Linda Abdo

Jae Sevy

This was a wonderful stop on our trip! If you're a history buff or just like learning about Arizona History, I highly recommend coming here. Besides the main house, which used to be a hospital, there is a barn, the train, and several other buildings to check out.

Stacey Gray

A great small museum with lots to see. Usually these types of museums my kids are in and out in 1/2 an hour. We were there for easily 3 hours. They have a junior curator activity that was fun for us all as well. Plus-I’ve seen lots of retired trains with cabooses, but this is the only place I’ve seen where you can actually go inside the caboose! As a train lover this was big for me. I highly recommend a visit while you’re in Flagstaff. .

Samantha Byrd

Another must see in Flagstaff, AZ! We all loved being able to wander in and out of the buildings/houses. Loved reading the local history! Our girls loved seeing the old wooden toys.

So worth checking out. Did a Museum tour and this was one of 3 on our list for that day. Tons to look at and a lot of history to read up on

Kyle

No matter how hard I haunt this place, I can't keep people from coming to my hospital. I rattle windows. I rock the old chair. I moan in the vents and blow in the rafters. But, people insist on coming in to learn the incredible history of our community. They laugh and learn and grow closer as families. They make lasting memories with loved ones from out of town. They bring their kids and complete the scavenger hunt for knowledge. I curse the curators for keeping such an interesting museum. - The Ghost of Lucille Ruff

Kevin Titus

Sue Kopinski
