This is a real gem of a museum. You can tell it is made by people whom put their own efforts into it, whether they were skilled or not, and regardless the results, the heart still comes out in each display. You won’t likely get to see the tanks or outside vehicles unless they have a second escort to monitor the he outside, but you can see them from the side road. You do get some up close views of the Huey and lots of weapons and war artifacts. Not very big and runs on donations. Go see it!

Went to museum today. The website says it is open 1-4 weekends. It was CLOSED!!! The guard at the gar says yes "it will open in Sept. It is closed for the summer. They should update the website". Yes they should. 2 hour round trip.

We were pleasantly surprised at the quantity and quality of displays they had. We spent almost 2 hours there. Our 12 year old grandson has an interest in military airplanes and was beyond excited to see and learn more about them. Great afternoon activity.

You ENTER through the main base entrance on McDowell. Show your ID to the guard. Museum is free, but they accept donations. Looks like it was established in the 60s. If you love military gear, the place is a candy store. Captured Japanese artillery piece. Even have a Huey helicopter gunship in the building. They let my boys play in the Jeep with the M60 marked "No climbing" on a piece of paper tucked under the windshield wiper. The volunteer vets are fun to listen to. Very limited hours, Sat & Sun 1pm-4pm. But Chuck said they'd do other times on appointment.

Visited in January and though a little difficult to locate, it was interesting enough once we did. FREE (they do accept small donations), not huge, but definitely worth the visit. Getting a close look at the vehicles/helicopter was very cool.

Go ARMY!!

This is a great way to spend some time and see Arizona Military Involved History, including rough riders and regiment insignias. Lots of personnel equipment was on display also including many uniforms and descriptive plaques. Good way to learn a little something but also keep your eyes busy looking about. The volunteers work hard and it shows!

Mark Siahaya

Cool small museum with lots of history and artifacts. Definitely worth a visit if you like military history. My 6 year old was very interested in it.

Scott Stewart

For a small museum, they effectively use the space and provide a great oversight of Arizona military history dating back to the westward expansion (and some before, as well). While it is a smaller museum, their collection is solid and can be followed through each military period. Friendly and helpful volunteers can provide assistance, as needed. Probably the last place that has a nice display about the "Great Papago Escape" by German WWII POWs since the city did not care for the camp and escape route in recent years. Facility is an old adobe building that was utilized by German POWs to repair vehicles, so it is, in itself, a historical facility, as well. Completely worth the time and effort!

This place was really awesome. Located on a military reserve base and OCS for the Army, it adds to the military feel. The tour guide was amazing and took his time explaining in detail each event and showcase as well as answering questions. Covers everything from the Spanish War and beyond to include Civil War, WWI, WWII, Operation Iraqi Freedom, etc. Teaches you about the rough riders, Navajo code talkers, blacks in the army, uniforms worn, the native Americans in the military, and a whole bunch more. Make sure to bring something to drink with you however, as I didn't see any vending machines or water fountains, however I could have just missed them. It is also not temperature controlled so it will be a little warm on the inside. It is handicap and wheelchair friendly.

Drove three hours to see the museum and it’s closed for the summer, nowhere on Google or the website said anything about it being closed.

We had a great time. They have so much cool stuff and can tell you all about it. It's not required to pay but donations help them with bills and keeping the place open. We will be going back

Learned a lot of history here about the immediate area and even found an article about my neighborhood and found out there was a book written about my neighborhood during WWll.

Great museum. Admission is free, there is a collection box and they appreciate donations. It's small but thorough if you really enjoy military history. We were there for about 2 hours and pretty much saw everything and had time to read most of the information.

Mark Paladino

Make it a must see on your list!

It's a free LITTLE museum but it's awesome. Has a lot of historic facts there and some really interesting pieces. The vet that was volunteering the day we went was absolutely amazing. He told us about his time in the Vietnam war as we were in the Vietnam room and showed us how the helicopter works the kids loved sitting in it while he explained. He was very kind to them and answered all their questions. Nothing like first hand knowledge.

SAMOUL IBRAHIM

Everyone who is interested in military history should visit this anazing place. All the volunteers that run this museum are ex-military.we were lucky to hear a story of one of the helicopter pilots share his experience during the Vietnam war and it was amazing

Kangaroo Jerky

Amazing museum with so much information! It is on a national guard base, you must show your driver's license and tell them you're going to the museum and they'll give you directions. The museum is completely free, however there are some donations and I definitely left a certain amount. It starts with displays of Arizona's history with wars, from the Mexican War (I think) to today. I mostly enjoyed the WW2 section, specifically the Japanese, which features a captured piece of artillery. There is also a Huey inside! I won't spoil it all, but it's so awesome. I definitely recommend this for those who are interested in history!

Don Milligan

The theme of this Museum is "lest we forget" it is a tribute to all who serve this great state and Nation throughout Arizona's history the theme especially honors those who made the ultimate sacrifice. You really got to visit this Museum it's awesome every aspect of it

Sam Hutchins

ALWAYS love a military museum regardless of its size!!

Great place to learn!

If you are a military historian or interested in military this is a good museum. A little complicated to get to as you have to show ID to the military post guards.

Awesome when Marianne Cole was there. She was so friendly and helpful.

The museum is on an airbase. The gates near the museum are marked locked and there are signs to use the main gate but nobody tells you where the main gate is. If you come by bus get off at the stop after the Circle K on Bushmaster Blvd. It is not where you think the entrance might be judging from Google Maps. As for the museum it's quite small. If it's a lot of effort to get here don't bother. The place is quite far out of town and only open weekends. The military vehicles were inaccessible when I visited

Antonio Montana
