REVIEWS OF Arizona Commemorative Air Force Museum IN Arizona

Megen Ashley

Very comfortable in the winter however, as it is a large hanger, it is not air conditioned so be prepared to sweat in the summer. Great historical displays and learning opportunities and fun for the whole family. The staff is more than happy to chime in with anecdotes and will walk you around if you have questions about specific aircraft. The gift shop is also great with puzzles, clothing and more.

EVAN BUSKIRK

Great little museum of classic and vintage historical aircraft. Price was a little steep

Jesse Alva

Kids loved it. Very friendly staff. Lots of history.

Richard Kilby

Excellent museum to visit if you're interested in WWII war-birds. We were able to crawl through the B17 and spent 30+ minutes chatting with the volunteers and pilots about the aircraft. A great hands-on learning experience.

Peggy Schendel

Did not go to museum. Went in to front and the gentlemen gave me directions.

Christopher Tucker

Appreciate all the history and the well kept planes and other things all through the facility.

Sarah Holly

This place is well worth the price of admission. I have been to a few air museums before that have mostly focused on just the planes. I enjoyed this museum because it had the exhibits along the walls with the engines and equipment. I think I spent more time looking at the engines than the planes. Unfortunately, the B17 was not there when we were, but hey that's just a good excuse to go back. Highly recommended for airplane, military, mechanical, or historical enthusiasts. Great for families of all ages.

tac towns Breed

I went there for the "night in the 40's dance" and Fell in love with it. Been going for the last 3 years

Kim King

Such a beautiful evening, thank you to my friend Mary Gilbert and the Sonoran Swing big band. Come out next year 3rd weekend in March. Worth the listen and attendance

Joynes Joynes

It's best to visit in the Fall/Winter as this will bring more aviation events than in the heat of summer

Aaron Kittredge

Great little air museum with amazing old aircraft, great staff, clean facilities, and the opportunity to walk through a B17 Bomber, which is actually still in use. Pretty unique and close up experience with iconic WWI and WWII aircraft, as well as a few more modern jet fighters. My 4 & 5 year old boys enjoyed it too. Cool place that I felt was worth the price of admission. I'll be visiting again.

Hook 'em Horns

Our family enjoyed a wonderful experience at the Arizona Commemorative Air Museum. My brother also bought his lady a special birthday flight in their Stearman Model 75 Biplane! She had quite the day! Our appreciation to the outstanding crew who made our visit so memorable and work hard to keep history alive at the Arizona Commemorative Air Museum! Hook 'em!

Chris Snow

Awesome place to go and see history! Plenty of parking and the docents who greet you when you enter the "hanger" are super friendly. The facility is very clean and well maintained. And you are able to go into the maintenance area to watch the people who keep these historical birds flying which is really neat. Plenty of opportunities to take pictures and learn about the history of these planes and pilots. Highly recommend going!

omar casill

Family friendly place to take children of all ages to learn about American history and the brave people that fought the wars to keep our country safe

AJ Torres

It is the best and very informative and educational for kids

sam thomas

Great little Museum, when I went there they were doing a military antique show which was pretty cool. The museum is connected to an active Airport just to let you readers know.

Bob Whitener

Wonderful collection of planes.

Barbara Hyde

Such a fun evening, been going for 6 years now

Daniel Vera

Went for my birthday, came with my two grandkids. One is a student pilot. Really enjoyed all of the planes, especially walking through a B-52 bomber. Was totally happy with all of the reader boards detailing many of the pilots, the Muskegee pilots, women pilots, the Hispanic contributors from Arizona. Could've spent more time but had to get home with the boys.

William Bennett

Great museum with quite a few planes in excellent condition. Lots of displays with information mostly about WWII. Volunteers were very informative and readily available for questions. Nice gift store too.

Ostler boys

What a great little museum. Love being able to show the kids our history and how far we have come.

Flew in the T6 Texan Absolutely amazing fun Airplane and Craig my pilot!

Starting out the trip with the wonderful gift shop attendance information that was given and walking around the hanger and the plane outside, everything was great. Very informative and friendly.

Had to keep on top of them to get things done after paying extra money to get it done quickly.

Santa Velazquez

CAF AIRBASE was amazing... kids loved it. Great place to visit with the family and if the kids are Interested in planes/ pilots.. my son is into the military stuff right now so he had an AMAZING TIME it was great .

Alan Urban

A rare experience, a museum that flies artifacts. Airbase Arizona shows and tells the story of military aircraft AND offers passenger flights on 7 WWII airplanes.

Cass Larson

Great atmosphere an knowledgeable staff. Only wish they had Cousair.

Tony Wolf

Great place lots of history a must see

Clay Moore

Very warm and welcoming people, were genuinely glad we chose to go there.

Justin F.

One of the best off-the-cuff experiences I had while looking at colleges in AZ. As a huge aviation guy and someone who loves our country's history, it was amazing to see such good-condition, airworthy aircraft up close. The staff are super knowledgeable and have many stories to share. Definitely on my list for my next trip out there.

William Carter

Would have been amazing if they updated their hours on google before people drive 6 hours from Las Vegas, burning two days of leave on a Monday and Tuesday, just to get here and read the sign on the door telling me that they’ll be closed both days I took off of work. Great experience.

Robert Sams

What a fantastic place for Aviation fans! Great store and museum, plus rides in several WWII aircraft! Things from this era are getting harder and harder to find and they do a great job of keeping the era alive!

Tera

Lots to see, every plane had a detailed sign, we got to see the B-17 take off and land. Veterans were there to answer questions. Worth the stop.

Alexander Monson

If you are interested in military history and aviation, you will be in flight heaven! We actually came here for a biplane flight for my friend. he really enjoyed that, then the more we looked around the museum the more impressed we were with the displays. There are so many employees and volunteers, all who have military histories and have incredible experience, knowledge and stories. The museum is well laid out, with excellent signage and backup information. If this place calls you at all, you should go!

Kim Davis

Outrageously interesting people (docents) to match some super cool planes. Anyone who worked aviation (in the military for example) would get a huge amount from it. My kids loved it as well; my four-year-old picked out the plane he wants to buy (despite me telling him that it is a museum, not a store). The store isn't half bad either. A must see for pilots, mechanics, and all aviation buffs, and great for kids and families too.

Dan Randolph

It was great....especially after I joined a tour that was going on. Would have been nice if they had told us about yours being available.

Munetaka Araki

This is an awesome place to go if you love planes. They have a lot of selections. You can spend whole day there looking at every collections. This place also offer a ride in one of vintage war plane. Some day I will do that myself!

This place has a lot of cool planes and aircraft history. The employees are knowledgeable and most are retired Veterans! I had a blast visiting this place, good times. You can also fly in a plane.

iHATEFORCE

Really cool museum. Varied collection of aircraft from WWI up to the Vietnam War. Staff here are so friendly and willing to share information. Will absolutely return.

Michel Heijnen

Great collection and very friendly staff. I was given an overview of the aircraft by one of the docents upon entering which was very helpful! Could definitely spend a couple hours here. So much unique information, with each piece having a special and intriguing history. Thank you!

Bob Andersen

Reminded me of a past life, in the army when I road in Huey's.

j be

I have to say it was a great outing. Staff was friendly, knowledgeable, and excited to be there. Add the fact you are able to see first hand major portions of our aviation history, and hear the story's first hand.

TJ Parsons-Drone Voyager

Great place for history buffs. The guides are very knowledgeable about the planes and history of the campaigns they served. I'm going back soon for a ride in one of these historic planes.

Nick Alati

Brought my family, wasn't expecting much. I forgot how awesome a Flying Fortress really is. How overbuilt the DC 2 and 3 were. I kind of forgot how much I love Aviation. Or so I never realized how much my son-in-law, daughter and two grandsons thoroughly enjoyed themselves. The volunteer staff keeps the air aircrafts in tip top shape. More so the building, Warehouse, hanger is spotless.

Swetha Chellappa

Really cool place!

blueteaful

This was super fun to visit. There's a B-17 that you can walk in, which is pretty cool.

Storm McAdrian

This place is awesome in that it serves as a valuable place of learning.

Tyler Hanson

Wonderful experience! Knowledgeable and passionate volunteers, with a great selection of aircraft.

Jeff W

Friendly and knowledgeable volunteers, great planes, and veterans get free entry.

James L

Wonderful place, not a lot of planes, but great history. During the Summer, June-Sep, they have two for the price of one Wednesday. Had a good time.

Charlotte Brown

CAF which was originally the confederate air force museum. Knowledgeable volunteer docents. Went thru a B 52: this museum allowed more hands on than most. Helicopter (Huey) flew in Vietnam with mounted on side. Cool place; really enjoyed this museum.

Carol Fornoff

We took our grandsons and we all enjoyed the museum.

Kerry Tilley

Fantastic exhibits, knowledgeable docents, very informative and interesting!

Nay Tiri

A wonderful museum that pays homage to our wonderful and brave veterans who served our country. Many wonderful planes from WWI, WWII, and more that have been faithfully restored or are being restored. The docents are veterans themselves and share many stories with the guests. A must visit for adults and children.

Kelly Swan

Its ok. But the person behind the desk was kinda gruff. Stuck up! My husband was in the air force but he has pass away. I believe the VA is the one to blame.

Rosemarie Sanchez

I think this is a great museum.I hope every body thinks the same thing

Seth v

If you haven't seen it you need to

Carol Pears

Very interesting for the full family.

Thurmon Tilley

Great to see the planes of the past.

Taushalee Hope

Take time to read and study displays. A wonderful Vetrien walked me through. I was fascinated

Casey shoemaker

The kids had a great time! The gift shop is not for kids. They had very few shirt options for my kids. Very few options of anything for the kids that was under $40.

Bonnie Burd Dubinskas

It was very interesting. The docent was very knowledgeable and explained everything we saw. He told us stories of various pilots and experiences they had. I would recommend this museum to anyone interested in airplanes or U.S. war history.

Lulu Alleyne

I love museums, so this was great. I do wish they had a student price. Its $15.00 for adults. The workers are volunteers. Other than that, it was nice.

Amanda Red

Amazing and cool indoors, for the hot summer heat, kids, seniors, get a taste for our history and the flights that made us America!

Todd Mowen

They have to hangers full of old Jets, planes bombers you name it. There's a lot of information about each one and there is staff walking around answering any questions you have. Great place to get out of the heat during the summer.

Callean Bocock

I could not believe how cool this place is! My little cutie pie was not too enthused when I told him we were coming here. He's more of a natural outdoorsy science kid. Right when I parked our vehicle, his eyes lit up. I have to admit, mine did too! Military planes everywhere! Veterans walking around, eager to talk about their stories were one of the highlights of our trip! I could not peel my son off the inside the B-17 Bomber plane! WWII, Korean and Vietnam memorabilia galore! I wish we had one of my uncles here to tell us of their experience. I can't wait to take hubby here. He'd definitely appreciate all the marvels of engineering.

Andrew Waggoner

This site is dedicated to the preservation of aerospace history. The museum has a nice collection of military aircraft. The high-point of the visit was a B-17 bomber that patrons can walk through. Bring your camera because you will want to take a lot of pictures.

Kiran Antony

Amazing airplane collection. Some WW2 planes are so well maintained that they are in flight conditions. The museum is located at the Falcon Field Airport Mesa (hangar at south-west). The display is completed with models and archive footage.

James Barner

This is where U.S. military history and SUPERIORITY lives! This place will make you proud to be an American! The B-17 is immaculate! Puff your cheat out, salute the flag and enjoy what made America great!

Chris Harowitz

Very cool little museum with a nice selection. Staff were helpful and nice. Got to see a B-25 take off.

John

A full hangar of air-worthy historical aircraft. Lots of fighters/bombers from The US, Japan, and Russia. They also have a C-47 that they do air tours on and you can go inside it when it is parked on the apron. Very friendly and knowledgeable volunteer staff.

ernie copeland

The museum is excellent. There is a range aircraft displays from WWII to Vietnam. They also offer warbird tours and rides in their B-25, B-17, C-47, Stearman, and SJN/AT-6. Check out their website for more info.

John Bailey

Real flying history on display. All aircraft are in flying condition or being restored to ment condition.

Nolan West

Had a memorable flight in a Stearman open cockpit airplane.

Wayne Bushnell

Fascinating explanation of the development of the aircraft engines by the docent.

Roger Blain

Excellent aviation museum, including several WWII era airplanes that you can book flights on. I really enojyed my visit and got to walk through 2 bombers that had recently landed. I live in the Mesa area, and sometimes spot one of the aircraft flying in the 'wild'. It is a unique thrill to see and hear them in places other than an air show.

Bart Kemp

Very nice volunteers, beautiful aircraft, more history being saved

Mark Paladino

Check it out. Interesting aircraft and displays. Friendly people.

Tom Layton

Very nice. Love the WW2 airplanes.

Bruce Sherman

Wonderful spot for aviation enthusiasts and families to see some very rare aircraft. The mostly volunteer staff are all in their own right historians and very willing to share their knowledge.

Stephanie Oswald

This is such an amazing museum! They have combined their passion for sharing history with their real-life military experience to provide both a historically accurate, yet visually appealing space for people of all ages to come and enjoy! The staff is amazing and I love that they are so informative. They definitely add more to the learning experience with their knowledge of the various planes and historical milestones of aviation. One of my favorite museums to visit in the state! They also host a Big Band 40's themed party every year to raise funds, which we were able to attend this year! It was so much fun and beyond amazing!!

Loric Harding

A wonderful museum with very invested staff. They had good representation for the different times in US aerial combat history. It would be nice if they had an even larger sampling, but this was amazing given what they have. I highly suggest going.

Char Landes

I had the greatest ride over the Superstition Mountains in an SNJ. If you live flying, you gotta go for this ride!!

Michael Pietrobono

Great staff great collection. Expect to spend time hearing great stories of then and now and knowledge that's detailed, broad, deep, and interesting. You'll feel like a kid again!

Tim Hickman

Wonderful small museum of vintage aircraft. Friendly folks working there ready to answer questions and share a relevant story. You can even book a ride on some of the aircraft.

Roger Graham

Great displays of vintage military aircraft

Tamera Sellers

Now for anyone who is a world war two history buff who loves the old bombers this is the place for you!!! The air crafts were amazing and what made this extra special is you or your children could actually go inside these great relics and take a peak and have someone in the family snap a picture with your head out one of the windows! But absolutely no touching which is a totally understandable rule..The actually have World WarTwo vets that volunteer their time to chat with you if you have any questions which I found absolutely intreguing. Always call and check they are only open on certain days of the week and one last important point there is NO air conditioning in any of the hangers of course so try to catch a cool day we learned that one the hard way. All in all a great learning experience along with Al Many thanks to him for his bravery and service! We had such a great talk what a great man...

Michael Peters

Two hangars full of history are here just waiting to be learned. The museum staff is all over and very happy to convey pearls of wisdom to anyone. This makes an excellent weekend stop if you are interested in warbirds, general aviation, or US military history.

Nancy Schroeder

A great place for Father's Day, Grandparent's Day, Veteran's Day, any day!! Great planes, some you can go into!!

Lorraine Hall

Very well presented and you can get a ride in the old planes for a price...awesome.

Tina Nave

Excellent family friendly adventure.

James Egbert

I still wish I could go up in a B24 & B25

James Stratton

This was one amazing experience I took a ride in the Texan and it was a thrill of a lifetime thank you for making it possible

Steve W

Don't visit if you have small children! Went today for the free museum day, and glad it was free (will not be returning). We had 3 different people stop what they were doing to run next to us to stand and give dirty looks to us. For one employee he gave us information about a plane she was looking at while being held, but quickly switched to telling us "have you heard the rules for her?No touching, no running" We didn't do either of those things and my child was actually being great. The "rules" would be followed by awkward silence and nasty looks from another employee when again my daughter was being held looking at a plane. This employee literally stared at us and glared until we walked away. I'm very dissapointed and will never return here.

Big Sky 1991

Had a great time seeing the WW2 aircraft and exhibits. They let me in for free as a Veteran, that was nice.

Yunier Lopez

Awesome place to walk around and see some history, they have a lot of planes and helicopters in their show room as well as out in the hangar and in the parking ramp, they even have some old Jeep Willys, not only you can see but you can even fly in some of the old planes they still have in service, definetely a pretty cool place to visit.

Brian Kemp

We flew on The B17 today. It was an amazing experience. The staff was great. Plane perfect. Museum wonderful. 10/10

Christopher Robin

Great place to look at planes and learn something

Glenda Harrison

Educational and fun to see restored planes take off and land.

John Crawford

This place is a great small museum. We happened to be there when the two bombers were taking off and it was mesmerizing to see them wind up and take off. I found the docents to be eager to chat and interesting.

mary z

Love this place with all the World War memorabilia, planes and veterans who volunteer to tell their stories.

Ervin Anderson

What a neat place to hear about our nation's aviation history. John gave us a very informative story of the planes, the people and places where aviation has made a historical impact in our history.

I went with my girls and while they were a bit young (3 and 6), we still had a great time!

Keith Kolb

Amazing little piece of US aviation history tucked away in our friendly Mesa neighborhood. Great place to go with the kids to beat the summer heat.
