REVIEWS OF Pratt Museum IN Alaska

Terry Davidson

Nice museum with a collection that covers the natural world and art.

Angela Bacon

Small.. Cheap.. Lots of information. Older lady at desk was very helpful and knew quiet a bit about the culture and history. It has local art from modern age people within the last few years and also stuff from tribes many years ago.. The back has animal info and a bird watching camera feed from bird island. Its worth going to once u hit homer to better appreciate ur surroundings

Jeff Hall

Just enough to explain the area and the bay but not too much stuff to overwhelm you.

Konstantin Ivlev

Really great museum. Spend 3 hours reading content and watching films. Reveals a lot of facts about Homer itself, Exxon oil pollution, locals, animals and history of the place. I’d highly recommend to visit Pratt museum.

If I could give it more stars I would. Stationed here at Fort Campbell in 2010. This museum has had many improved revisions. It is a gem in my opinion. I would highly recommend this museum to everyone I know. The kids love it. This is great place for a family visit, plenty to read and plenty to look at. God bless America and all of its troops.

Exhibits were very uninspired. The $10 entrance fee goes toward ???? The garden out front is poorly labeled and the pocket guides provided do not reflect most of the plants you see. The guides show plants that are not even planted.

Very small, I would have figured that the 101st would ensure that their museum would be as grand as their history is. Not so much! The aircraft outside are falling apart and deteriorating where they sit. Not very impressed.

Leanne Swager

Short but the people are really nice and the displays very interesting.

This is a great opportunity to see some of the history on the 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault). They have displays from several of the major battles that the 101st participated in, including the Battle of the Buldge and D Day. I wish some of the aircraft on display outdoors were better maintained, but it does look like they are actively working on refreshing some of the displays.

Jim Naville

Awesome museum. You have to get a visitors pass at gate 4 to get in but it is worth it. Nice static displays out side of helicopters and planes along with some guns and vehicles. Check it out.

Even though there is a large population of elderly and disabled veterans in the area, this Museum is not disabled friendly. The entrance is literally within 20 feet of the handicapped parking, but people are forced to walk an additional 100 or so feet because they decided to place the walkway away from the entrance. Makes no sense. Upon entering the museum with an elderly female, we requested a wheelchair if available, and the Lieutenant acting as greeter informed us that the museum does not have wheelchairs at all. The displays were poorly costumed and arranged, even though it is a brand new facility, there is an overall sense of incompleteness and lack of care for the displays themselves. A disappointing end result for a museum that was under construction for the better part of a year.

My youngest kid is fascinated by this place with all the planes, hellocopters and machines. Great place to teach them about the people who operated them, read the memorials and remember our fallen soldiers.

Anibal Pacheco

A museum representing the rich heritage, military traditions, and sacrifices of the many soldiers who have served in the 101st Airborne Division (AASLT). There is something from every military campaign the division has participated in and lots of weapons and military artifacts for visitors to experience. Above all the best thing is that entrance to the museum is free of charge. However, be prepared to go through the Visitors Center to gain access inside this military base. You will need a valid license, vehicle registration and proof of insurance to obtain a visitors pass. Highly recommend for history buffs or to teach young children about the history of our nation.

Kandy mnms

Very current, modern like, not like your typical dark and drabby museum. Very fun and interesting. I wanted to look at everything. Kids loved the huge vehicles and learning about the different weapons from my dad. Had some interactive pieces also.

Joy and Jeff Wright

Always great place to stop. Lots to learn. We always walk over the memorial area and pay respects to those lost during a tour. Especially my husband's 2010-2011 in Afghanistan.

There is a lot of great stuff packed into this little museum. Although the history of the 101st Airborne is relatively short, compared to many other parts of the US Army, a lot happened in that history and this museum illustrates it well. I don't think many folks visit this place to remind them of that proud history, but they should.

P Sweeney

That was an absolutely amazing experience. I live in Clarksville & was unaware this was here! I would highly recommend anyone to visit. It is awe inpiring

Candice Jennings

Good place to learn

Good place to go with the family.

I haven't been since to renovation except to the outside exhibits and sad to say that it looks like those are being ignored, there's some planes and vehicles that have had fading paint or rust on them for years something needs to be done before they start to fall apart.

Michael Morningstar

We enjoyed touring the Pratt museum at Fort Campbell. The displays, pictures and story boards were very informative. The aircraft and equipment displays outside were nice to tour. The main thing missing was a display of more modern equipment and vehicles.

Very well done information on Alaska culture, history and nature. Enjoyed visit thoroughly. They even have a video about the Kilcher family

A gem in downtown Homer. Though somewhat small, it is crammed with exhibits that provide an insight into the people who came to Alaska for a fresh start. Lots of interact areas with audio about the settlers, plan to spend a lot of time if you get hooked on one of the stories. We also enjoyed the videos in the basement area with the wildlife displays. A plus for my wife who is a quilter were a number of quilts around the building including one that was being raffled off. Outside is a example of a settler cabin including the out-building. A very nice option on any day but especially if you need to find an inside activity on inclement weather.
