Average Rating:

DESCRIPTION

You will see all the reviews of people who have information of the services of Alaska Islands & Ocean Visitor Center (Museum) in Alaska.

Nowadays this business has a score of 4.7 over 5 and the rating was based on 164 reviews.

As you can see its rating is almost the highest, and it's based on a high number of feddbacks, so we may say that the score is quite credible. If there are many people who bothered to evaluate when they are satisfied with the business, it works.

You know that we do not usually stop to give opinions when these are good and we usually do it only if we have had a problem or incidence...

This Museum is included in the category of Nature preserve.

Good explanation and exhibits of what they do - studying the a animals and excitement of Alaska so that future generations will be able to enjoy nature the same way we can.

Lots of information on the local ecology and geology in the region. There are a few trails that you can explore just outside the center that have moose, though very rarely. If you're in Homer, it's a great place to stop by.

We came here with our toddler just a half hour before closing. The exhibit is fairly small but has many interesting installations and artifacts. Unlike the Sealife Center in Seward, Alaska Islands & Ocean Visitor's Center doesn't have any live animals. That doesn't necessarily make it any less interesting, but maybe not quite as engaging for a toddler. We went when it was a snowing and windy, so we weren't able to do the trail. We'll have to come back in the summer and try again.

Really nice, free museum with a surprisingly broad range of exhibits. I would say that it's oriented more towards families but as a single 30 something adult I found it to be interesting enough to spend 45 minutes there. Information about local wildlife, ecology, conservation and the world war 2 battle between Japan and the US in the Aleutian islands. There are two 15 minute movies you can watch. I didn't watch either of them but I saw others who did. Short walk from here to Bishop's Beach to get a first-hand experience of the ocean life. Stop at Two Sisters Cafe along the way to fuel up for the journey (or to treat yourself for making so many good choices in one day)

Blaine Richardson

Short film about Alaska was interesting. The staff there was super friendly and very knowledgeable. Good stop.

They had an otter pelt on display and it was amazingly soft and plush and explained why otter furs were so sought after when people irresponsibly over harvested otters almost to extinction. Catch the two story tidal marker. From low tide to high tide.

If you're looking for a great place to take the family then visit the Alaska Islands and Ocean Visitor Center. The exhibits are very well done. Most of the exhibits are interactive, so the kids should have fun pressing buttons. Outside are some trails to help stretch the legs from that long drive. Plenty of parking for vehicles and large RVs. Restrooms are here, but no food.
