Never Sleight

Fun way to spend a few hours.

Ryan Edgington

The displays of planes were pretty cool, as was the flight simulator, and my favorite was the "theater room" which plays a documentary on Japan's attack on the Aleutian islands in WWII. However, it seemed the museum mostly featured airlines or pilots who became small business owners. I would've enjoyed more displays on Alaskan WWII pilots, as well as how the Cold War effected aviation (if at all). Instead, the musem seemed to put a lot of attention on the business side of aviation. It may have given a better visual if there was a map showing the locations that our current bush pilots fly to, but maps were lacking as well. I definitely enjoyed parts of the museum, but I probably won't be going back.

Erik Lindhjem

Great museum with more WWII history than I expected to see.

Melissa Roth

Gregory Bohuslav

Tower is fun place to watch float planes take off, you can listen to air traffic control. Museum does a good job telling the story of Japanese invasion and bombing of US during WW II. Yes, Japan did invade US soil, they landed and held two Aleutian islands.

David Medow

A great museum and a must-see for visitors to Anchorage. Very excellent displays and a thoughtful, friendly staff.

Jesse Gill

Great little museum! Entry fee was very reasonable. Contains tons of info about the history of aviation in Alaska. I especially loved the section about the battle of Attu. I never knew about the Japanese invasion of Alaska during WWII, so I really enjoyed learning something new!

John Carrico

A great museum with many great planes and stories. I wish I had more time there!

Spent about an hour and a half here. Small but plenty to see and beautiful views from the tower on Lake Hood. An easy stop on the way to or from the airport.

Interesting history of Alaskan aviation

Erinn Stranko

I've been here a couple of times one of those being for the annual Bodega Beer Fest. Super cool place and awesome for an event. Only problem being the bathrooms. They could use some updates and possibly more actual stalls if they are going to throw large events here. As a museum, it's super cool and driving around Lake Hood to see all the planes is a plus.

Charlotte Rousseau

Terrell Durant

I'm really surprised at the level of interest that this museum possesses. You can see everything from Helicopters to airplane engines. Virtually everything aerospace is contained in this facility. This facility has a lot to offer the aerospace enthusiast. I recommend checking it out!!!!

Amy Cummings

Lots of interesting info and artifacts organized into a smallish space. Good photos and info on the Aleutian island involvement in WWII. The kids loved climbing into the tower and looking over the airfield. Some updating taking place as of April '18.

Yeva Sharp

One of the best place in town to entertain the toddler!

JeongYoun Hong

Poorly maintained.

Dalen McMichael

Very nice.

Brian Barnes

Fun history of Alaska Airlines and old planes. We went up to the Merrill tower outside and sat in a chair and enjoyed the float planes coming and going. There is a repeater speaker from the real tower so you can get the feel of the communications required for operations.

Rob Stapleton

The Merrill Field Tower Cab is a great place for wine tasting or party and to view Lake Hood aviation operations. The hangars are full of history and historic aircraft. This museum is always changing exhibits and rebuilding aircraft to fly, not just to replicate. Not only are the aircraft historic one of the hangars is on the National Registry as the first hangar at Lake Hood the largest Seaplane base in world.

Excellent aviation museum. Fantastic aircraft with big focus on Alaskan history.

Pudu Creative

Interesting museum full of local aviation history. Relatively small, even reading through all exhibits and watching a mini-documentary we spent just over an hour there. Price to get in the door is somewhat high; however, ticket sales help fund plane restoration projects.

Off Grid Alaska

Awesome place!

Jamie Piszczuk

A great museum telling the history of flying in Alaska. So much information! Stories varying from the first flight to the Japanese invasion during WWII to the formation of Alaskan Airlines - great stuff!!

Edward Hahn

Poorly curated. Poor location

Steven Robbins

Nice view of seaplanes

Sarah Sandbak

The perfect wedding location. We originally considered an outdoor wedding, but did not want to risk the Alaskan weather. The museum gave us the best of both worlds. The auditorium was the perfect place for our ceremony and we were able to get some great outdoor shots by the lake, the planes, the totem pole, etc., etc., etc. Shari is wonderful to work with. We wanted to move some chairs and tables around (a major no-no at some venues) and she didn't even bat an eyelid. They have a great kitchen, complete with overhead door for easy access, which makes set up easier for your caterer. Overall we had a wonderful experience.

Michael Smith

This is a really good place

Holly Braden

Grreat history lesson.

Captain Barn

Cool place with a lot of history and a great view of the floatplane runways

Ryan Hall

Great day out

Erik Bailey

What an awesome place. Talked to the curator and he said there original museum burnt down and this is their new location. This museum is unique in that every plane in the museum has ties to Alaska. Either it started there, crashed there, or somehow touched Alaska, all their planes have some history with this state. If you are up here, I'd definitely recommend visiting.

Ashley Swartz

A real eye opener and wonderful educational history lesson. The aviation world in Alaska is quite fascinating. The planes and jet on display, were fantastic. A very sad, dark part of history rarely discussed , was also showcased in a very good documentary.

Robin McKellip

Benjamin Hutt

Ozark Satellite

missing one of the most decorated and influencial pilots and personalities in the states history.. william Munz, state senator, author, founder of Munz airways, recipient of civilian air medal 2x, awarded by presidents Truman and Roosevelt for heroic rescue missions, he even has an airport named after him, yet somehow not featured in this museum of Alaskan aviation.. disappointing

Bruce Hodgens

Rodney Gomes Ferreira Sobrinho

Small but precious! I love spend some time on the control tower looking the seaplanes landing and taking off.

Mark Gefreh

margie dahlof

Small, but powerful. Family connections to WWII in Aleutian Islands. Don't miss video.

Bradley Peterson

I've always been an airplane lover, and getting the chance to see rare aircraft such as a Grumman Goose, Widgeon, an airworthy Boeing Stearman, watching a Fairchild Pilgrim be restored, and seeing all the dirty and old historic aviation stuff you won't find at many other air museums is very unique. The experience ranks up there with the Seattle Museum of Flight.

isis holcombe

My nephews loved it. Little more spending then expected but its was good

Love the planes!

If your into aviation, stop by & view their displays of vintage aircraft as well as the restoration shop where they are making "magic" with older aircraft. Its convenient, right on the airport grounds in Anchorage, and overlooking the busiest seaplane port in the US.

Christopher Wood

The displays were very interesting and informative. There were plenty of exhibits to see and enjoy.

Jean Pretorius

Cindy Zeolla

Trey Eastman

F Stein

Great place and a must-see for aviation enthusiasts. Museum not only displays various aircraft but also covers the impact the aircraft had on the development of Alaska. You can easily spend an hour (when the sun is out) sitting on the terrace of the old tower and watch sea planes taking off. Friendliness of the staff really made my day, thanks!

Noah Hamner

Short and sweet museum, goes into Alaskan history with flight and air lines. Lots of restored planes and some really good information on the battles in the Alaskan islands during world war II. There's a short radio tower for lounging where you can listen to the local radio chatter and get a good view of the lake.

Dale Stoltzfus

The staff was friendly and helpful. Exhibits and vintage aircraft were very interesting.

Although I am not a hardcore aviation enthusiast, this was an interesting visit and a great way to spend some time while waiting on a flight out of the ANC airport. The displays were not all in the best shape and they are spread out in various rooms , hangars, and outdoors. The $15 entrance fee was a bit steep, but really it looks like they need the money so I didn't mind paying to support them.

Bob McNally

Great place! Allow a couple of hours, you will need it.

Mark Beiler

One of my sons favorite places.
