As you can read, it reaches an feddbacks average is practically the best, and it's based on a large number of opinions, so we may be pretty sure that the assessment is very credible. If many people have bothered to evaluate when they've done well with the business, it works.
You know that we do not usually stop to set scores when they are good and we usually do it only if we have had a problem or incidence...
This belongs to the category of Archaeological museum.
I love this museum. The exhibits are professional, informative and beautiful.
Absolutely awesome quick field trip with the hubby and kiddo. Nice and quiet, but full of history! Highly recommend!
Super friendly staff willing to give you lots of history lessons.
They are improving with every visit. I'm glad to see more information than when I was younger. This is a great place to take kids.
Nice place
One of my favorite places!
Always a great place to visit for a stroll and a bit of local history of the great Mississippian society.
Gem of a park on the Black Warrior River with a great deal of history, hiking, and educational opportunities. Be sure to check out the museum.
A very interesting place to visit. A very important native American historical place.
A good place to get some R&R.
Loved this place loved campground loved the employees thank you for having me
Love camping here! Quiet and peaceful!
Mediocre at best. If you've never been here, come see it! It's a very interesting place to visit once in a while. And the prices went up, I think. Museum is interesting, but is in need of attention and some updating.
Loved it.
my grandchildren thoroughly enjoyed the experience
I have not been there, but hope to soon. We always passed through when i was a little girl on way to MS to visit family. I still pass through & hope to stop in this time. It has been on my bucket list since i was very young. As if i am being called there. Born near nanih waiya. Hope to see you soon. EDIT:: 7/28/19 finally made it. magical. museum has beautiful artifacts. a bit disappointed in the gift shop. should have books about the mounds. bought the DVD.
Such an interesting place to visit. We stopped over on our road trip. Campground was empty except for us. We extended another night just so we could learn about the mounds. This led to us start looking for more of these mounds. This is our past, our history.
The most beautiful park ever and it not fare from home. We visit yearly and just started staying overnight and camping. We love it how clean the place is and the staff is so nice. If i lived close enough to drive daily i would love to work here just to be closer and learn so much more.
Very disappointed. Nature trail in terrible shape, boardwalk remnants with rusty nails strewn along path, tree limbs overgrowing the boardwalk. You can do better, Alabama. Walked to top of the big mound but exhibit was locked, as someone with knee replacement this was not easy, so a sign at bottom would have been nice. Looks like more money was spent on the gift shop and coffe bar than the grounds. Used to come here alot as a child but have not been here since I was a teen and they have let the exhibits deteriorate! The park of my childood is no more, and it was free then.
Amazing stop
The museum and grounds are interesting and well kept. All of the people I met who worked there were courteous and helpful. Beware of the fire ants though! Fire ant mounds are EVERYWHERE!
Visited the park today. The museum is very small but kind of interesting. The walking trail is not kept up very well. The wooden platforms are broken. Instead of fixing them, there is just wood piled in the middle of the adjacent gravel walking trail. All in all it's not really worth the drive or money spent to get in.
There isn't much to it, but for what it is, it's awesome. I'm a citizen of Moundville so i get in free on most days, so I don't really have any information on admission.
There is something spiritual about this place. Trounce around in the woods while you're there. They are amazingly beautiful.
Great place to bring your Kids & Dogs
With a trip! Amazing historical site, well-maintained grounds with an interesting museum full of native pottery and informative exhibits.
Took my grandaughter from michigan she loved it
A little limited on the amount of stuff to see/do given the scale of archeology they discussed in the video
Very spiritual feeling place . Beautiful. Definitely worth a day trip
Lots to see and do between the displays, the mounds and chief's hut, the trails, gift shop, and goldfish pond! The kids and I thoroughly enjoyed our time here.
Museum was very small but had some excellent pieces and there was a guide there that gave some excellent history. The gift shop and snack bar were almost empty of merchandise. Took me 3 hours to get there and only spent about 1 1/2 hours total, including time spent escaping from the heat
Great histoy and museum
Love
Loved it ...please go show your support
Worth the time. Great history and the largest collection of pottery, I have seen.
The connectedness to our past can be felt!
Nice place to visit on a sunny day. Staff is friendly and helpful. Lots of information for those interested.
The artifacts and artist renderings of Native American life help bring history to life in the minds of visitors.
You'll learn a lot in this well-equipped and nicely arranged park.
A hidden gem nestled 30 minutes south of Tuscaloosa. Immerse yourself in Pre-Columbian Native American culture and way of life!
I enjoyed the history of the mounds and the employees were very friendly. The grounds are kept up nice. The only problem was the mosquitoes were terrible on the boardwalk.
This is well worth the money. Lots of history here. Near that there was a whole civilization here that we know hardly anything about. Great day.
Nice pleasant enjoyable
Very nice not to exciting but cool
NOT FREE. And way too expensive.
This is such a cool place! Such rich and interesting history. There is a really cool boardwalk and geocahces. The museum may be a little cultural inaccurate but still very interesting. We were the only people there the day we went.
It cool
Love it!!
Worth to visit
This place has a nice museum and is a great place to go for any archeology or Native American prehistory enthusiast.
Awesome place. Kids loved it!
A hidden gem!
It was a perfect day trip for me and my love. We went to each mound, museum, sat by the lake, and watch the video at the beginning. I was told they have a Native Indian festival at the end of October. So far I've been to the Etowah, Ocmuglee, and the Kolomiki Mounds. I enjoyed all of the indigenous history, and the staff is extra friendly. The cost was 8$ for adults. It was worth every penny.
Lovely place, photos don't do it justice.
Great place to go. Museum is very interesting.
As an archaeology student, this was a must see when doing fieldwork in the area. These mounds are very impressive though the video in the welcome center was a little cringy. Not a bad price to get in ($8 for students). Wish we could’ve gone on more mounds but it’s understandable. The park was really kept up nicely and all facilities were very clean - even the Indian Village model was fairly clear of cobwebs. I wonder how this upkeep (i.e. mowing the lawn) affects long-term erosion. The museum was very nice and I loved seeing the artifacts up close. The hologram medicine man was under maintenance when I went, but it would’ve been cool to see since I’ve heard about it before.
Great place lots of history..
Moundville Archaeological Park is a premier destination for anyone interested in Native American culture and architecture. The second-largest site of the Mississippian Culture, the site helps to translate some of the grandiosity of the native accomplishments in the Eastern Woodlands. Renovations to the museum have brought it into the 21st-century, with elaborate and beautiful exhibits that go far to intertwining the views of Native Americans and the archaeological recoveries. Visit the park, and you will be impressed.
To the a 1,000 people in ancient times lived there is amazing too see
Great place to take your family
Very serene setting on very well maintained historically significant grounds. Since I last visited, great improvements have been made to the Park and its a highly recommended stop if you are in the area and have a couple hours to spend looking at the fascinating piece of the Native Americans who lived in the area
This is a very large site that would be more fun if you could explore it more. They made stairs that go up two of the mounds. Those are the only ones you are allowed to be on. I would have liked to experience them all. It would not have taken much more effort to find the entrances to all of them, and make them durable enough to withstand us visitors.
superb, relaxing, & educational... great camping
Informational and very cool to walk thru
It is a drive through exp. with places to park and walk. There is a "living Museum" area where you can see how the people lived and an awesome Museum with artifacts and reproductions. Had a chance to talk to the park director. Swell guy and his passion for the park was evident. Well worth the visit!
Site is beautiful! But Information and descriptions and depictions of indigenous people were very disrespectful. They taken a culture and stamped it as native Americans. Its comes off as forced and unrealistic. There should be a reevaluation of this. It is clear that they share similar beliefs, worship, fears, and craftsmanship of different cultures. The other thing they share with the ppl in Ethiopia, Kemet, Olmecain, Xi, Kushite, and Seminoles, they all are black! Duh!
Worth the trip.
Interesting place and very nice museum
Awesome for a short visit of a forgotten civilization
An interesting archeological and historical site. There is a small museum at the north end of the park that explains the history of the mounds and Native Americans who lived here.
Amazingly well preserved archaeology site. There is a self-guided tour that takes you around the grounds or you can walk up a couple of the Mounds to get an overview of the complex. The museum is very well put together it has a lot of information and interesting artifacts. The staff is very nice and willing to help you out. The University of Alabama has done an excellent job of preservation and informing the public about Native Americans in the past.
It's a gem in Alabama to get in some culture, history, and a nice walk. I wish I'd taken a picnic
A little eerie, very cool place if you love history you'll love it
Wonderful museum and park!
One of the best locations in the state for stargazing at night.
A great introduction to Native American culture before Columbus' arrival. Beautiful grounds to see the mounds in context. Can climb to the top of 2 of them. Excellent museum and a campground. Great experience.
We have gone there several times for the meteor shower and it is a great park. Great place to walk bike and just take in history. The campsite is clean and honestly I feel that it is a jewel that has not really been discovered. We were the only campers there and they have 20 plus sites. We camped in a full hook up spot that backed up to a field facing northeast and it was a great place to watch the meteor shower. The kids loved it and awesome weekend!
Had a great day
It's amazing what people did with a basket and minor tools.
Amazing historical site
Beautiful grounds, great walking and biking, incredible museum
The site is very interesting as an archaeological park. Interesting displays, very informative museum. The Camping was fantastic. I hate to give a great review and have people find the campground. Inexpensive $12 a day. We had a full hookup site for 10 days. Massively large sites. A half a dozen had full hookup, the others had power and water. Quiet and peaceful. All of the staff was pleasant and helpful.
This was such a cool afternoon trip! Only $6 for a tour of the whole place. You can walk around on 2 of the mounds and drive near the others. There's multiple museums and a model village. All of their statue depictions are extremely lifelike! Besides that, the museum is one of the coolest I've seen dealing with Native American history.
Hermoso lugar, cuando no hay nadie alrededor es re silencioso y pacífico. Muy lindo para conocer algo de historia.
These kinda places should receive more funding from the state and federal govt then what they do. So places like this can be preserved for many years to come.
It been a long time, 30 years or so, since I have been to Moundville, and I wasn't expecting much. I was happily surprised, especially at the museum. I am constantly amazed at the beauty that surrounds us in Alabama, and the beauty people can craft with their own hands. There were plenty of examples of each of those to astonish and delight me. If you haven't been lately or ever before, please do go! Enjoy!
I wish we had taken more pictures, this was a really fascinating place. There was a really cool informative video at the beginning of the tour in the visitor center, afterwards we were able to drive by each mound. At the museum there was so many sculptures to view and so much to learn, there’s a mound by the museum that you can climb upon and it’s the highest mound. There were beautiful views! There were ponds around the mounds that had fish and turtles! It was fascinating to see so many turtles, and they were big too! I would definitely come here again, and I would recommend you stop here too!
Had fun and learned a lot!
It was hot. The kids had fun.
Great loop for jogging, very interesting history!
Very interesting displays in small buildings that are in much need of repair. Clean grounds. The large building with displays are very informative. Beautiful view of river & nice picnic areas.
Really cool find.
Bc u can learn and have fun
Just a gem of a place.

Was shocked at the ticket cost. All the websites say $4 for adults but when we got there, it was $8. Only later did I realize the reviews were pretty outdated. All-in-all, it was worth it. Truly impressed with Mound B. The area is well taken care of except for a few outdoor displays. The museum is great! Worth a stop. :)
We are going back
An amazing glimpse into a vanished culture. Story is well told thru the museum exhibits and artifacts. We stopped mostly for a spot to rest during a day of travel and find a picnic table. We ended up spending several more hours than we actually had time allotted for in our travel schedule. The area around the conference center on a bluff overlooking the Black Warrior River was a lovely spot for a picnic. The nature trails were well maintained and looked to explore a variety of landscapes. Some of the remote exhibits are looking a bit shoddy but considering what their budget is it's not surprising. The mounds themselves will impress you with the size of the mounds themselves and the scope of the site. Plenty of room to let kids run off some energy on a road trip.
Great camping, beautiful grounds, gift shop, musuem, coffee and cafe. Super nice people, quiet RV camping and tent camping. Resident lives on grounds, super friendly, part of University Alabama. Great place, off the beaten path in a small Southern town!
Cool site, great info at entry and museum once inside the park. If you like history, this is a good stop. Camping site available (rv and tent), did not stay, but they looked very welcoming. Coffee shop in museum.
wowowowowo mounds
It's one of the most interesting places I have ever been' it's alot'like the Aztec sites in South America
Amazing artifacts. Good camping
My daddy helped build the beginning of the museum and mounds, he was born and raised in Moundvville
Great history.
Nothing really to do. If they put as much effort into the rest of the place as they put into the gift shop, they'd be set.
It wasn't as good as when I went my fourth grade year but it's still awesome!! I love learning about native Americans!!
Great place to visit. I came the park during elem school and forgot how interesting it is. They have cleaned up the place and improved the museum area. If you are in the area, I highly recommend it. If you plan to eat there, bring your own food.
Tons of birds on nature trail that gives you more views of Black Warrior River. Very cool to see the history and artifacts in museum at Moundville. Enjoyed our visit.
the kids and i spent 8 hours here it was a blast! then it rained we all got soaked i had to carry them half a mile to the car we climbed all the mounds and marveled at the white man's reconstruction of the indian village
The most beautiful mounds in the world!!!
Amazing archaeological park for indigenous artifacts. First nations & veterans enter at no charge which was nice. Wrist band provided so you can come and go for the day.
Great history, excellent muesem.
Stumbled upon this museum on way home from a camping trip taking an alternate route. Very impressive museum with Indian artifacts.
Very worth a visit! Lots to wonder about.
The best part of Alabama. Beautifully maintained.
Good combination of internal dioramas, and letting people see the mounds for themselves outside.
Outstanding display and public outreach. Beautiful and amazing to see into the past of American prehistory culture.
