It's a great idea to bring kids and family to explore the art and the park
Great Experience students really enjoyed.
My grandkids had a blast
This place is constantly changing, updated, remodeling, and moving. It's always a new experience. I love all of the new things coming. I love having a nice, clean, relaxing place to go and relax, walk, and enjoy art work.
The park that is around Art Museum is great for walking and picnics. The museum has quarterly art exhibits that change out. There is always something new to see. They also have some works of Zelda Fitzgerald on display.
This is a very nice museum.
Needed a place to burn a couple of hours during a recent road trip and after some google searching we found this museum. It was very nice and everyone was very friendly. Kids really enjoyed the kids area. Well worth the price of free!!
Go out there wit the babymama and baby's
Lovely facility with changing art exhibits so you have a reason for return trips. Nice cafe for a relaxing lunch or snack to round out your visit even providing one vegan option.
The museum is beautiful, as are the grounds. The children's area is WONDERFUL! Very interactive, and there is a lot for the kiddos to do. My two year old had a blast, but it's perfect for older kids as well. We will definitely be back.
I loved the African Art exhibit on the 2nd floor.
My first time being here, we were on Spring Break but anyway I really enjoyed this place. There were a lot of things to see and the guards and staff were awesome and friendly.. Even though the guard that me and my family had talked to us half to death and showed us where to go and he even made us laughed we really enjoyed ourselves that day... LOL
Beautiful. Great place to bring the family.
My 3yr old daughter loved the kids interactive art part of the museum and I just loved the set up and flow of the galleries will be bringing my oldest children here next time we come to ally to visit family.
Absolutely Amazing! My baby has artwork there! I loved the performances and artwork by all of the kids
Kids area was fun and had a lot of activities. We spent 2 hours with young children entertained the whole time. Security staff was anal about multiple things and more restrictive than the rules stated (bringing a "flat stanley" for photos). Ruined the experience.
I love it
I'm so thankful people help preserve the land, arts and everything in the museum represented. Such a wonderful place.
Love going here.
Unexpected gem in Montgomery. Entrance is free. The artwork is beautiful and everyone is very friendly. The blown glass exhibit was brilliant as well as the sculpture garden. A must see!
Attended the artist talk with Richard Mills this afternoon and it was very enjoyable and is a beautiful museum.
Beautiful, event was wonderful, people were helpful.
I walked there in the humidity and it was a nice cool and pleasant museum. I was curious to see more historical art, maybe Antebellum Alabama. There was Voting happening while I was there. T/he staff were friendly and welcoming. There is a pond outside and people were feeding turtles.
Beautiful grounds and amazing museum!
Beautiful serene family place
It's so beautiful inside and outside and my enjoyed the tour
Great museum is well worth finding. It's set inside a park that has great paths to jog on. There were sculptures outside around the museum with descriptions inside the museum if you wished to view them from the large windows. Attached to the main museum is a children's interactive musuem. It teaches them the different styles of art. The hallway that connects them to the main museum has students art from various schools. The museum itself is 2 stories and very large as well as spacious. You can easily spend 2 or more hours enjoying the various types of art.
Not only is the museum nice the grounds arounit it is big and open. With a dog park.
Went to an 80th birthday celebration in Cafe M, very nice, beautiful and peaceful scenery. Highly recommend a visit to the museum.
Free, great atmosphere, amazing galleries of awesome artists! Love it EVERY time I visit!
My daughter and I love this place!! Art for the grown ups plus a place for the kids that is all hands on. Outside is beautiful and you can feed ducks and geese. Awesome place for a picnic on the lawn!!
Beautiful art work. Free admission.
We had a wonderful it. The kids really enjoyed.
Nice place
This is a wonderful museum and thghe kids area is fantastic
Wonderful exhibit of Southern Women Artists, well curated exhibits overall in an approachable setting. Nice sculpture garden as well.
We had a great time at the children's museum portion. Some updates to that area could be nice, but we had a great time anyway! We explored the fine arts as well and it peaked the interest of one of my children, so we will be back soon!
Really awesome permanent collection (from Impression and American Post-Impressionism through Hopper. Plenty of Alabama artists and other categories represented as well) and interesting traveling exhibits. Uncrowded. Lots to explore. Free We are definitely coming back to spend more time.
My son enjoyed his visit, which is a plus in my book
Great place to take the kids. preteen enjoyed the technology, preschooler enjoyed the car race, puppets and color me in motion exhibit.
Beautiful place,u can even feed the ducks, jus bring some bread, its fun
Check out the HUGE labor themed Jacob Lawrence exhibit before it leaves next month!!
No bags allowed?! Why not just do a bag check? It’s preposterous to come all the way to a museum and then be told you have to leave your bag in the car. This should be a banner on the web page warning patrons of this peculiar rule. At 100deg in the shade I am not leaving my personal affects in the car.
Amazing art and great classes for children to attend!!
It a beautiful place and its relaxing with lots to see.
Took the grands on a Sunday Funday. It was a great place!
Fun for the family while there. When we called back to ask the name of an artist they had on display (we couldn't remember name) the lady who answered the phone was insanely rude and refused to tell us the name. She admitted she knew the name, but that we could come back if we wanted to know. We explained we didn't live near them, we had been on a trip, and she still refused.
Low-key. Clean. Relaxing. Far from the center of the city, but, great place to relax, especially given the surrounding green space.
Beautiful place to visit that doesn't cost anything. It is a fun place for everyone. They have all different types of art, and they are almost done with the new outside garden. They have different pieces that come in for limited amounts of time, so you usually see new things every time you visit. There is a separate place just for the kids where they can interact with all kinds of things. The outside is a great place to take pictures and interact with the ducks.
Great experience. Very busy.
Wow this is awsome people, if you stay on the road please visit this museum is a really beautiful place in Montgomery 100 % approved.....
Food's fine. Staff is friendly but sometimes inexperienced. Ours wasn't familiar with traditional mixed drink names or availability from the bar.
Located in Alabama Shakespeare Festival (some people call it the Wynton M. Blount Cultural Park), it's one of the only places to appreciate mutiple forms of artwork in the city. Admission and parking are completely free, but donations are welcome. They have new exhibits regularly and even display local artworks. The museum has a cafe, a store, and even a kids' area. Check out their website if planning a trip, or you can just swing by. Usually open 10am- 5pm, 12am-5pm on Sunday, and CLOSED ON ALL MONDAYS and Holidays.
This is a great place to take the kids nice art and variety great experience
Lovely place to visit and view exhibits. Love the interactive exhibit for children!
Its is a very nice place with a very diverse collection of art work and family activities.
Excelent
Fun kids area. Nice artwork. Outside is a fun place to picnic and walk around the fish pond.
Beautiful paintings, sculptures, photos and glass works. My wife broke her foot a few days before and was wearing a cast. The museum loaned me a wheelchair to pick her up in the parking lot and take her through the exhibits. The staff was very friendly and helpful, although there was one guard who followed us around like she thought we might steal something. Lol
Just a great experience. Go there staff the exhibits all is wonderful
Love their DiVine Lunch special wine pairing. Chef Jennie Weller always comes up with a great menu!
A fresh creative retreat ❤️
I love it out there it look nice to like the lil lake they have there's a lot to see there open walk space
Great place to take the kids for an hour or 2. On nice days you can feed the ducks outside and take a walk. On rainy days it gives you something to do indoors.
Lovely art with children themed areas..+++
Wonderful place full of inspiration and appreciation of talent
Great work and nice place to get out for a day from the hustle and bustle.
Medium sized art museum that is about half permanent exhibit and half on rotation. The kids section has lots of engaging and educational activities for children which certainly amused my girlfriend. The grounds are huge with many musical events being held in and around the facility, some of which are free, some not. The museum itself is totally free and right next to the Shakespeare Festival theater. Between the two, a great way to spend the day.
Really good place I recommand for family picnic
Thus is a must see, it was amazing
Artworks Exhibition for Children sponsored by Montgomery's Junior League is just as enjoyable today in my adulthood as it was when it first opened in my childhood. I love taking kids for their first visit & seeing the surprise & excitement in their eyes as they turn each corner...and the motion screen room is clearly my STILL top attraction in my book!!! Thank you, Ladies of the Junior League, for your continued support of such a worthy & wonderfully fun cause!!!
Beautiful place to take Family and Friends! By the way bring plenty of
They just opened the new open door exhibit. It looks real nice.
Nice museum, it's free and they have a donation container. They don't have cameras in the parking lot area and my vehicle was broken into. Glass broken, a bag taken but no one was hurt. Be careful as to what you leave seen.
This is a very pleasant museum, and an excellent diversion for an afternoon when the weather makes being outside uncomfortable. Sure, it's not the Louvre but what can you expect in a state capital with a population of a few hundred thousand? But it has a children's wing to keep yours occupied, and a rather eclectic collection of paintings and sculpture, much of it by artists from Alabama, and admission is free. I heartily recommend it.
I take my children often but this trip was a pre-k class trip so we got the chance to see a puppet show and it was super cute and perfect for the little ones. It reinforced shapes in a very creative and relatable way.
The museum rests near I 85 and Vaughn Road. It has been in existence for over 20 years with expansion currently in progress now. There are ducks to feed and a wonderful little cafe inside. There's a children's area housed at the front left end of the gallery. They have interactive play as well as story time. The exhibit changes periodically, so visit often. Walking trails are adjacent to the building for the health conscience. Groups are welcome.
First and foremost, it was free to come here. It was also perfect for my whole family. There was an area for my children to play and explore and utilize many interactive displays. The outdoor sculpture garden was very unique and a great spot to visit on a sunny summer day.
Enjoyed a casual walk through this collection of impressive works. Great jazz band playing while in attendance added to the atmosphere. Excellent Art Works children's interactive section.
Beautiful museum in a beautiful setting. It’s free to enter. The space is nice and open with some very nice installations. Be sure to venture outside to the sculpture garden. The museum is in Blount park so it’s also nice to park and walk the grounds. I highly recommend a visit.
Great place for family. I would recommend one to visit the museum with kids and young adults to expose them to the arts and humanities.
Gorgeous art with calm and serene surroundings for proper enjoyment. Glad there’s also a kids’ section. Nieces and nephews enjoy it very much. Keeps them busy and focused.
Had a great time on my mother /daughter date
I had not been in the Arts Museum before my daughter had to go for a school function. I was glad to finally see the inside. It is very interesting, and the artwork is amazing. There was also a display of china when we went. Local student artists also have work displayed here. And the museum is free to visitors. There is a gift shop where you can buy something if you'd like to help support the Museum.
MMFA is a fixture of Montgomery Living, and a vital home for Alabama artists.
They have a fun area for the kids
I love how this place is free to the community! It's so beautiful inside and out.
A wonderful outing for a HOT Alabama Autumn
Well worth going periodically for various rotated exhibits.
Great venue for art and small productions.
Our family love this place, every week there have events, sometime free...
It’s so nice to have a free fine arts museum in town. There is a great kids area in the museum with lots of interactive games and and activities. There is an original Charlie Russell and some cool sculptures. The pond in front is full of turtles which the kids had a lot of fun feeding bread to. The museum is part of the Alabama Shakespeare Festival complex which has two big ponds and lots of walking paths.
Beautiful facility. Great artwork from children and professionals. Very quiet.
Miss Drew in the gift shop is an absolute gem! Her work is amazing and she is so sweet! I absolutely recommend her of you want some unique jewelry!
Lovely museum and outdoor area. Bathrooms were nice and clean.
Wonderful place to visit
Wonderful place.
Beautiful facility, interesting collection, and nice children's section.
Spent a week in Montomery to be with my husband's family. The muesem was a nice thing to fill time. Great if you love art or want to pass time. There's a great kids area too.
Beautiful and interesting pieces. The grounds are just beautiful.
O the Beauty and Joy of this place,Perfect for every age group
Have ALWAYS loved this place❣️
A nice display of paintings, sculpture, & porcelain. Alabama artists were represented too.
The building is clean and has plenty of space. Staff are helpful with directing people. The road leading into the place is confusing at times.
Many wonderful things for the children to do. Relaxing and fun for adults too. We really enjoyed ourselves.
Wow! I'm impressed with the grounds, exhibits, etc. Excellent opportunity to expose children to the arts!
My kids and I always enjoy the museum. It's got some really cool stuff and keeps the kids happy! And it's free...can't beat that!
Take the time to visit! This is worth the trip to see the exhibits.
Love this place. It's so nice and quiet and I love looking at all the art . Even from the kids.
This museum is very nice and there isn't a fee to enter. They accept donations. I went here on a date and the exhibits were wonderful! The gift shop also had lots of items to choose from. There is a nice cafe, but go online or call to verify the hours. There is a children's section so your little ones will enjoy themselves as well. The museum offers art classes and activities for kids! Hope you enjoy your visit!
I love it. It was calming. The exhibit by children was amazing.
Love the museum so much!
Great place to visit more than once. Awesome children's area and wonderful art.
Very interesting, educational, and fun place to take the kiddos! Plus it's open on Sundays and it FREE!!
Nice place to feed fish, birds, and turtles.
Love this museum! The art is always phenomenal, the kids area is super fun, and the events held there are really enjoyable too! Great for art enthusiasts and families alike!
Great museum with a calm atmosphere. The theater is also great. The shows are awesome
Very nice museum with some great works of art both inside and out. They treat the military to a free night of food and art every year!!!!! I love this place!!!
Great class!
Great food and service at the cafe. Wonderful way to spend an afternoon.
We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to the Montgomery Museum of Fine Arts today. There were nearly all styles of painting and expression there. I was impressed by the presence of three Rembrandts, several Thomas Hart Bentons, and other well-known and local artists from Alabama. I enjoyed the exploration of culture at the intersection of Art. Upstairs is a small collection of African traditional masks and art. There is quite a bit of spiritism connected with these masks and art. I highly recommend to visit to this spacious, bright, and beautiful Museum in Alabama.
Nice place! The garden is very beautiful. Many activities for children
Nice serene museum and surroundings
Wonderful programming for children including the Artworks children's area. My child just finished the nature-themed art camp and loved it! She completed several different pieces of art.
Good art and garden art. Bring the kids every week, not to play but to learn and appreciate. So nice of the city to give it's people this privilege for free
My first trip fo attend a class for Highlands College couldn't of been better. Attending this museum was very memorable and a great site to see. The staff was very informative as well as professional.
Awesome place to just lay around n enjoy the view.
FREE! Excellent kids part! Truly an adventure! Great outside art!
Great family Entertainment, highly recommend to friends and family.
One if Montgomery's crown jewels, located on the grounds of beautiful Blount Cultural Park, which is also home to the Alabama Shakespeare Festival.
Great display of talent as FLIMP was going as well.
Great collection of painted art and glass works. Complete sets of 17th and 18th Century china table service are amazing
Lovely museum filled with a variety of artistic pieces to suit all tastes, including an area for children's activities
Grand kids love this place
Great place clean great exhibits
Wait, people still go here?
Needed .ore time to see everything. Planning a second visit.
My kids and I always enjoy going to the museum. The kids area is perfect and just what we need for overly hot days during summer break!
I love the new addition to the museum
Beautiful location and lots of lovely art inside .
It was nice to explore new and nice staff
Very nice museum, good way to spend a quiet weekend afternoon. Enjoyed the exhibits, the location is also very nice. Staff was helpful. I guess the one negative would be, the gift shop closed before the museum did,so I missed visiting the giftshop, after viewing the exhibits. I will go back when I am in the area again.
Very nice museum, good way to spend a quiet weekend afternoon.
Sometimes I drive through on my way home just to slow down & de-stress from the crazy traffic! ☺
It was a great place. Beautiful art works. A good place for a family to visit.
A real surprise! Impeccably clean, gorgeous and interesting collections, friendly and helpful staff. The grounds are beautiful to boot! My favorite was the sculpture garden but if you make it before January 20th, the simply stunning Lino Tagliapietra glass blown art exhibit is among the best you’ll see outside of Italy. A must-do if you’re touring Montgomery.
Pretty nice place.. Everything you'd expect from an Art Gallery I suppose.. I like their children's area and the hallway full of art that grade-schoolers did. It is usually very inspirational. Most of the art museum doesn't really seem to change and once you've seen it, that's really all there is.. but they do have exhibits rom time to time that can be kind of cool. I like the outdoor area where you can feed the ducks and the evil swans and how close it is to the Shakespeare Theater place.
It was quite a find If you have art on your mind A curvaceous and obscure driveway Helped to frame the location this day Then we discover that it's free So what's not to see With a varied collection Every room created a section With an outdoor art to come We may have to return and then some But relax and enjoy the settings And there will be no regretting Phil Lunney 9.12.2018
Very imposing building, exhibits and displays are placed in a very subtle manner allowing you to spend time examining them at your leisure. Very quiet and peaceful. The exhibits are easily interpreted. I love to go there.
My son 5th grade class artwork is on display.
It's always soothing!
Nice place for lunch, really good food and an awesome waiter. My only complaint is no dessert. This is the south. I want some pie.
