Huntsville Museum of Art despite the tiny size it tries to cover the cultures around the globe. Great collection of artifacts from all over. The activities designed for young ones where they allow you to interact with the art. Must visit and there is discount in ticket if you are close to 5. I would recommend visiting on Thursday near to 5 the ticket is only $5.

This museum has a variety of art that appeals to all areas. There is an interactive children's area, permanent exhibits, and exhibits that change, so there is always something new to see. Check out the website or call for free activities. Once a month children's art activities are offered for free. Also, the is usually a part of the museum open for free to visitors. Free parking is available next to the museum or metered parking on the street. The museum is also a beautiful place for weddings or other events. It is next to Big Spring Park, so you can make a day of it visiting the museum, picnicking in the park, enjoying fresh air, and feeding the ducks! In the winter there is outdoor ice skating at the museum, and in the summer there are free movies in the park.

ginny reynolds

That was a very cool surprise to find an outdoor live venue on a random Monday night! Loved it!

Cheryl Robertson

Had lunch at Pan e Vino great Italian on the patio overlooking the pond gardens. Had great photography exhibits as well L some other types of art. Several touring exhibits only there for a short time so don't miss them. They are reciprocal art gallery from many around the nation.

Wonderful museum to visit during the holidays. The outdoor skating rink and decorated trees have become a family tradition when in huntsville.

Cindy Newsome

First time, great experience

Courtney Kirkham

Small museum, but pretty cool. They have kids activities on Saturday mornings, so that's a good time to bring children by and get them exposure to art.

Roberta Graziussi

It is still the small.town museum.I rather going to nashville or Birmingham museum.of Art

Bill Fowler

A bastion of culture in the heart of Huntsville. I admit I don't utilize this municipal treasure as much as I should - I've attended several events here but seldom go as a museum visitor. The building itself is art and the staff is alway earnest and studious in helping the average person feel at home.

Psych_ 477

We had so much fun here! Very clean, friendly environment!

Colin Clark

It's a very nice art museum that changes its galleries from time to time, located downtown Huntsville surrounded by a beautiful park, the restaurant is very enjoyable as well.

They have a great variety of special or traveling exhibits. The staff is friendly and parking is really convenient. A little pricey for the size of the museum but definitely worth an annual visit.

Cameron Hill

Really cool place. Went because of college.

Ulrich S.

Nice place. Thursday evening only 5$ fee.

Lawrence Gibbons

West Point showing was excellent

Troy Scott

Nice venue for an event.

Darryl Gutierrez

Best Friend from B'ham and I really enjoyed a quick trip through the Norman Rockwell exhibit at HMA. It's 12.00 for adults to enter the museum. They offer a 5.00 Thursday "special" after 5 PM, but I'm not sure about the details (is it every Thursday, select Thursdays??) and their web site calendar doesn't indicate what Thursday either. At any rate, do catch the Thursday deal if you can get details, because it is well worth it for $5.00 I've seen the museum grow over the years and have enjoyed everything from Maplethorpe to "whats up doc, the animation art of chuck jones" to the Red Clay Survey.

Carla Holder

The opening lecture of the Connections show included talks by two of the three artists, as well as a small reception. It was pleasant and intellectually stimulating but I don't think I'd buy one of the skateboard art pieces or washing machine ones.

Katie Buffington

Very nice museum.

James Daughtry

Great exhibits and friendly, helpful staff. They are excited about art and share the excitement with you.

Diane Church

Loved the Alabama Constitution exhibit. I was also impressed with the Vietnam journalist photos.

Benjamin Woodward

Great ice skating rink outside this time of year

Kathy Leafgreen

Great art, docents knowledgeable, 5 at 5 special was well worth participating

Pat Reynolds

Lovely museum. Small, but tastefully done. Quiet and easy to go from one exhibit to another. Was disappointed at having to pay but also realize the arts have a hard time. Very nice, informative staff and a well stocked, tho small gift shop.

Ashley Gilliland

Wonderful mixture of classic and modern art and workshop activities

Angel Pennington

A lovely experience...best $12 I spent in 2018!

Mariela Cuellar

Enjoy the time with your family.

Richard Dyar

Neat. Not big on art though.

Shawn Hoban

I saw four exhibits (Woodstock, Lunar orbiter photos, Vietnam war photos, and multi national art pieces). All were excellent. This is a great half-day event. Pofessional presentation of all art pieces. Very nice.

Esperanza Cardenas

The art is okay, it's a fairly nice museum for Huntsville.

Misti Bressette

Took kids on a field trip there from school. The tour guide was very knowledgeable. The exhibits were great! We had pizza from Pane Vino in the park afterwards...highly recommend it! Both places were great!

Diana Harrell-Neal

The Galleries are beautiful. I recommend that you should visit

Chase Dyer

Awesome. Leave time to see the featured exhibits.

Gloria Scott

My first tip is stop at the Huntsville Visitor Center and grab your 20% off coupon then make sure you visit this museum. The hand cut paper, tires, and metals were the big draw for me. They were absolutely stunning. There was plenty of street parking and terrific cafes nearby. The staff are friendly but the museum is a little warm inside so layer. No food or drink are allowed inside.

Austin Meyer

We we're only visiting, and wbet to "music in the park." It was very spacious and family friendly. Everyone seemed more prepared than us, with picnics and some little tables (definitely pros). Get there early if you want a good spot, but truth be told there isn't a bad spot in the whole area.

Carly Erin

We mostly patronize the Academy for art classes. My kids have enjoyed and learned a lot from attending classes at the museum. The offerings are varied, unique, and touch on multiple mediums. We just finished up Cartooning & Ceramics and both kids had great experiences. We've also been pleased with the weeklong summer programs, and don't miss the museum gift shop! Great unique and some locally made gifts for all ages.

Aaron Clairday

Love this place!!! We even bought a membership!

zach smithson

Really a nice art museum, and it's in a great location

Fred Chu

Great place for relaxing and pondering the artworks.

Brandi Young

Awesome for expanding creativity

Matthew Urbanic

Great exhibits (with a good rate of refresh), but small. The building is huge, but it just seems a little underwhelming once you get in. Excellent mix of media on display.

Jonathan Brock

Great place with clean and quiet environment and amazing pieces

Zainab Chaaban

This museum had gorgeous glass pieces, and some interactive exhibits. Kids section has a wide variety of activities for the youngsters.

Carmen Flores

Beautiful Art Museum! Truly enjoyed it.

Dionne Mcfarlane

Awesome exhibits. Happy that I went

Roger Goodmon

Concerts in the Park

Mad Piper

The children's summer class for jewelry making cost a lot more than it was worth. $35 at Joann's will get you a better experience at a lower price.

Steve Llano

Really nice museum with very interesting collections. I really.like how the galleries are laid out. It's a small.museum, more of a gallery but you could spend a whole morning or afternoon here. It's a great facility and I was really happy with the variety in the galleries.

Joseph Chandler

This art museum is always filled with unique and interesting things. They also have some great kids activities on the weekends. It's within walking distance to pretty much everything in Downtown Huntsville. Also some great views.

Elusive Bobbin Studio

I can't decide whether this should get 3 or 4 stars. The museum was nice, staff in the gallery where knowledgeable and friendly. The exhibits were interesting, however, compared to other art museums I've been to, the admission seemed steep for the size of the museum. It's on the small side. I expected more.

Kimberly Robinson-Myers

Beautiful renovated. Pleasant family environment and dog friendly place with music in the park on Sundays

Michael Bradley

Their 5 after 5 is awesome. Plus it's partnered with panavino for a bit of a sweet deal.

Lois Ingrum

The environment was welcoming the moment I stepped into the building and there is a park and Fontaine outside

Sheila Conlon

Beautiful!! Great park attached as well. Pictures fine just no flash..

Mrs. Wendy Fulmer

Great place to relax see some great art, grown your knowledge. Great for kids since has a kids section to bw able to touch and practice art. Also has plenty of family oriented activities and well for adults only nights. Superb place!!!

Candyse Crow

Great location with amazing art. Definitely would make this a stop if you're in the area.

Fox Wilson

The Huntsville Museum of Art has some really unique exhibits that have no real analogue elsewhere. It's definitely worth a visit if you're in the area and have spare time. Student admission is $5 (their website is wrong) and is a great deal.

kyle brown

Very nice museum. They have a lot of unique exhibits and they rotate their featured exhibits fairly often so it's worth coming back to. Great if you're in the area and either love art or just wanna get out of the heat for an hour or two.

Paris Brewton

if I could select 100 stars I would! We were beyond satisfied with not only the space of the venue, The Loretta Spencer Hall, but the staff! You guys are amazing. ESPECIALLY Ms. Jennifer Goff!! She stepped up and in on so many different levels and made sure our day was everything we could imagine. Even though our ceremony was in the park and not inside the staff STILL stepped in to make sure the transition of our guests was simple and easy! I recommend you guys for EVERY event! We look forward to seeing what we can come up with for our baby shower! Keep up the good work!!

Adrienne Marlow

Nice and quiet...workers there do not bother you so you are able to take in the art

Robert Mitchell

the comment that the entrance fee is high for what it is , hits the nail on the head for me- its not a world class or national class museum at all- just a passing diversion at best

Marcus Scott

Good learning experience

Ron Hoff

Great little museum with lots to see and do here.

Paul Garcia

We recently moved to Huntsville and decided to check out the Museum of Art. We lucky enough to find a good parking nearby. We were able to take advantage of one of their many enereance discounts. My family enjoyed the art nouveau and I enjoyed the newly opened Vietnam War exhibit. We also enjoyed the interactive exhibit as well as the historical art exhibit. The museum has a gift store with many unique items.

Randall Elley

They always have the most interesting exhibits pass through. I love going and seeing what all they have.

King James

Very nice staff, wonderful art work and fun things for the kids

Bob Stell

Always something good. Usually several exhibits on display.

Travis Shrontz

For classic art that older generations appreciate a bit more, it's a must see, but there are rarely any modern exhibits and it pales in comparison to Lowe Mill. More variety is a must if the Museum wants to thrive for generations to come.

Lana Porter

Really enjoyed

Aiman Rahman

Very beautiful!

I had an amazing experience at the Huntsville Museum of Art. The fact that the weather was nothing short of spectacular that day and ambiance was phenominal. I was there to attend a wedding and the venue seemed to be a perfect fit for such an event.

Victoria Holdean

Recently went here to see a children's exhibit and was impressed by the building and the show. They charge for special exhibits but other parts of the place are free. Very clean and nice setting for a pleasant viewing of culture. Recommend a visit.

Joshua Romans

Very educational with a great variety of art

Julie Blair

One of my favorite places in town

KevinScott76

Very nice place

Matthew Shotwell

We went with out three kids (3, 6, and 7). They have a nice series of children's exhibits, and there is a great interactive section for kids as well. We all liked the glasswork and silver work. There was a large section of art from local children artists (K-12) that our kids enjoyed and seemed to appreciate more than the other galleries. The museum building itself is located next to a park with a large fish pond and walking paths that we also enjoyed.

j evans

I have an annual membership which is reasonable for unlimited access and special events. The museum has regular displays as well as new art provided throughout the year. It is a great atmosphere to learn and relax. They also have an area just for children. I highly recommend the Huntsville Museum.

Kay Campbell

Check out Thursday evening Wine & Art after-5 event!

Matthew Henry

The museum is relatively small, but has worth-while exhibits including a children's activity area and a 'walk-through-time' tunnel. It is also well-incorporated into a restaurant with live music directly adjacent to Big Spring park - makes for a nice evening date. Wine is available on Thursday nights for the 5$ after 5pm special admission.

soraya benefield

Peaceful place and a friendly staff.

Zachary Mangum

Great for what it is. There was a great exhibit in world War 2 propaganda/bond posters when I went through. Also a great kids area for young kids to have fun

John A. Tamplin

Once a year the national muesuen collection with the Smithsonian gives free admission to the public. Took advantage of thia to take the full family on an outing to see some beautiful displaysof art and sculpture. Thereis a kids wing which ia interactive and a few of the exhibits actually encourage you to touch them. My favorite area though is the marvelous display with the sculpted animals. The level of detail to each one is exquisite and will make you think about how much time, energy and love was put into each piece. This isa place worth visiting any time of the year, but if on a budget then keep informed of when the next free day will be provided by the Smithsonian.

Joyce Evans

There is always something interesting, and they regularly change their exhibits.

Kia Love

Amazing venue, beautiful exhibits!

Crystal Schwind

There was some nice artwork. I enjoyed my time there.

Brenna Terry

The Huntsville Museum of Art is charming but a bit small. With the expanding local art community, the focus has turned to modern, Southeastern artists, many of which are worth keeping an eye on! Recent additions include an interactive children's gallery and the Davidson Center. Some past exhibits have included big names, such as Maxfield Parrish, Norman Rockwell, and Ansel Adams. I remember a few others dedicated to cinema fashion and anime! I grew up taking classes at the Museum Academy under the tutelage of talented local artists, such as S. Renee Prasil (see her studio at Lowe Mill!) A friend of ours curated a collection of Tiffany stained glass windows. The gift shop has unique offerings, many of which are relevant to the current shows. You never know what will come through the HMoA!

Monika O'Keefe

Great Mucha exhibition.

Steven Barnes

A nice art museum with great exhibits.

Brian Kirk

Not huge but great collection and fun stuff for kids

Aaron Hearne

Small, but good. There are rotating exhibits and free activities for kids on the weekend.

Doreen Dial

Saw Norman Rockwell exhibit & it was very well done & interesting.

seagirl seagirl

The staff constantly watch you like leering tough New York City policemen, waiting for you to steak something or take the forbidden photos. Very insulting! I was so insulted I almost dropped the original Mona Lisa I was slipping in my fannypack. (Seriously if you have social anxiety the stalking custodians will really make you nervous.)

Saliou Yerima

Very nostalgic and equiped.

Flora Eason

The art is not great but the staff is friendly and it's a beautiful event venue. I love the little gift shop--lots of unique finds.

G Davis

Great staff and exhibits

melissa white

Very beautiful

Stephanie Marion

Always something to learn and the kids love to drop in and create.

Christina

This museum is always nice to visit but this time, it was over the top. All 5 non permanent exhibits were wonderful and we enjoyed the permanent exhibits too. Now selling Suzy Pops in the gift store so when you are leaving into the hot air outside, you can have a refreshing treat.

Laura H

Beautiful museum with a mix of local artists too, and very helpful staff. I loved the inclusion of many different mediums, and female artists.

Tiffany Pittman

Went with my girlfriend and enjoyed it very much!

Sammy Butler

Huntsville needs a better Museum of Art. The current one is OK for Decatur or Athens but not Huntsville. It definitely needs to be expanded.

Dave Jackman

Fun variety in their rotating exhibits.

autumn casali

For a smaller local art venue Huntsville Museum of Art is alright over all. I've been several times in the last year as they get new features, I liked the kids interactive zone and the pre-historic area with a remake of the Hall of Bulls.

Tony Davila

Great little art museum with spaces to have large and small events like wedding, cultural events, official organizational symposiums and more. Centrally located in Huntsville ne r the lake and civic center.

Caitlin Van

Was ok

shawn pittman

only been once but good art

Joe Cherry

The museum has a good rotation of exhibits. The kids program is good.

Jim Gordon

Surprisingly good!

Susan Martin

Very nice museum with lots of galleries for a city the size of Huntsville. Nothing pre-1800s in the collection though. Lots of changing and touring exhibits. Nice history section for kids. Beautiful collection of Italian silver animals. Pretty location. Classes, gift shop, restaurant attached.

Joyce Vento

Small but well curated museum.

Kat Kathryn

Very fancy with interactive room

Frrst Lthr

Traveling exhibits are often very good, it is cheaper Thursdays after 5pm which makes it worth it for me

Steve Crandall
