As you know, we do not usually stop to give reviews when these are good and we usually do it only if we've had a problem or issue...
This belongs to the category of History museum.
We had an absolutely amazing time here. At first, we were not sure if our kids would engage. The "backyard" is great and our kids had a fun time there, but we finally got them really interested in the giant sized tinker toys. Our son built a monstrosity! We got all of our moneys worth out of building things and raising the flag on the river boat! Additionally, they learn about milking cows, raising hens, baking bread and many other things! We packed a lunch and really appreciated that they catered to this by offering a well appointed place to have a pic-nic! Overall, this museum is small, but packs a big punch.
Great hands on facility with something for kids of nearly any age. They have a room for toddlers and kids that are active where there is a fort like treehouse structure built into a wall as well as a moving water bin where they can fish for magnetic fish and see toy boats move. Deceptively large building and lots of walking space. The big trees talk, though my toddler son was not a fan and seemed frightened of them. Decent size auditorium where they show cartoons. Content covers Alabama history from the 1800s to present. Nice place to bring the kids. $5 for toddlers up to 3. No time limit. They seem to have a partnership with paw patrol as far as characters and merchandising. They also have someone dressed as a character to meet the kids. Located downtown so metered parking is your best bet.If you have a educator ID your discount lets you in for free!
Love this for rainy or cold days!
Nice place to take the tots to play. All in all it was a pretty safe place, but as always, keep a hawks eye on your child, not the phone. I was a bit surprised that the water area didn't have a cover over the deep end where the water flows down making it a drowning danger. It also hosted black mold on the inside of the container which I accidentally put my hands on. When I mentioned it to a staff member she just gave me a blank look. I was kinda spooked by her reaction. There's a lot of creativity that has gone into the design of this, and lots of opportunities for creative play. Definitely worth checking out with your tots.
Me and my daughter enjoy ourselves every time we come to early works and we will definitely be back in the future.
Great place to take my daughter to play, no matter the weather. I would have given it five stars based on my own membership, but then we had my nephew's party here today. My sil paid $135 to have 45 min for cake, pizza, presents, and clean up. The ice cream cake was still frozen enough it took us ten min to cut it. The birthday boy got to eat half his slice of his cake and got to open 1/3 of his gifts. They mean business about that 45 min. They will chase you out! I was thinking about having my daughter's party here next month, but not now!!
Lots of fun for younger kids
Great place for kids! Tons to explore play and learn. Price is great too, especially if you get the membership!
Hi, We took a day and went to Early Works with hopes of entertaining and 8 year old. Well, the museum was very nice and the people were VERY friendly, but I would not say go there for entertaining children. There is a room for 6 and under that is great for them, but I just can't give the museum more than three stars, especially for what we paid. This is just my opinion, but my girlfriend agreed with me that this is just not a very entertaining place to take the family. Don't plan on staying there long, the museum is very small compared to any other place of this sort. I hate to sound negotive, maybe you will get more out of it than we did. Don't expect alot like we did. You can go through the entire museum in 45 minutes, and that is going very slow! Have a great day!
Great for out of town guests with kids.
I remember going here as a child and having endless amounts of fun. If you have children, it's a place worth visiting.
For the young and old
Spent an hour here and never had to worry about the kids. And we all learned things! Very family friendly.
Had a birthday party there recently 45 min in the party room is not enough time to take care of everything felt very rushed. The museum it's self was ok really wouldn't recommend it for a bday party.
Kid friendly, amazing staff, and informative while being fun
Great place to take kids of all ages.
Great Children's Museum! Hours of Indoor fun for The Whole Family.
Very fun and informative for children!
Always have a great time when visiting
What a great experience! Attentive staff and excellent exhibits. The kids are really going to enjoy it and it's an easy 2 hours of Entertainment
This place makes history and learning a lot of fun. The story telling tree is the most interesting thing to look at and hear. Kids who love dogs will really like it.
Nice place to visit
Love this place!! So fun for kids under 10! It's not too big but you can easily walk around with a stroller. Clean bathrooms and friendly staff!
Great kiddie fun for the whole family.
A nice half day with the young'uns
GOOD place for a birthday party or a wedding! Attended one of each there recently. Fun was had by all. Check it out for your next event folks!
Great fun for the family!
Well worth the money.
Had a blast!
Anazing collection of toys and learning tools. 4 yrs old twins could stay all day.
A great place for families to spend an afternoon
Compared to other children museums we've been to, this one is really small- but- it was clean and the staff was very friendly and we killed 45 minutes during our trip. We parked on the street for 50 cents, (25 cents per 30 minutes) which wasn't too shabby for a downtown.
Great place to see some of alabama history
A bit of a disappointment. Not enough to see and do for the admission price charged.
Had a great time with my daughter. We purches the annual pass so we can go a lot this summer. She always has a blast and we play dress up and pretend in the general store and cabin. She loves being able to touch and play with all the thing they have set up. She doesn't even notice that she is actually learning about her areas history!
Kids had a blast
Beautiful and fun
The kids had fun, but overall it is a bit strange and the strangeness is kind of hard to describe. It seems like a regular museum, which has a few random daycare-like areas integrated in. I wish it integrated more experiential science exhibits, rather than having so much space allocated to dry topics, with oddly integrated kid-oriented aspects. If you have been to science museums in bigger cities you might be disappointed, but the kids will likely have fun since there are a couple areas with toys and play areas.
One of the best children's museum available. Not too big and geared for younger children. Two and three year olds can have a good time and there is plenty for adults to learn too.
Fun place for the kids
Awesome place for kids
Great place to take family
It was a treat to visit this place when I was a kid, and when my sister and I recently took her two boys, it was still really nice. There is plenty of fun and interactive things for the kids, and it's enjoyable for adults, too. Great place to take the family. Who knows you might all learn something!
We had our son's birthday party here this past year. The ladies who work there were very accommodating for the time they allowed us to setup and cleanup. We had plenty of time to enjoy the party and the museum.
There's lots of things for kids to do.
It was a fun experience for us my toddler loved it so hands on experience for her and she loves her dog from the gift store will be back again soon
Great family outing
Edit: Management contacted us to apologize, and has assured us that they corrected the issue with improved staff training. We appreciate their responsiveness and have increased our rating from 2 to 4 stars. Our kids love Early Works, but there have been some changes in the staff at the front desk, and we will probably not renew our membership. Management needs to do a better job of vetting and training new hires to ensure a positive customer experience.
There is so much to do, even for little kids! As long as you avoid the field trip groups, it's not too crowded. There is a parking garage next door that is metered, so make sure you bring change (quarters, dimes, and nickles accepted).
So much fun!
So much for children to do and learn.
They advertise forsmall children but the subject matter of the museum is you advanced and too dry. My five year old nephew enjoyed the building block section singularly. He was bored with the rest. The service is fairly non-existent...
Great place to take your kid(s) to see history and play in Biscuit's Backyard.
Kids loved it!
Educational Great people working here as well
Fun place!
Interesting
Fun for kids under 6. Staff are snooty. My kids were playing in an Area and staff member started cleaning up as my kids were still playing....
Very interesting place to take the kids
Colorful exhibits and staff make an afternoon of fun for the whole family at EarlyWorks. They have an exceptional ballroom than can be rented out for private events as well.
Great experience for children! And adults..☺ Love the talking tree.
I can't say enough nice things about the staff. They are always ready to turn on the talking tree for my son. They have weekly crafts. Biscuits backyard is great for small children on cold or rainy days.
Great!!!
Such a fun place for a young child! My son loves the music and Biscuit’s Backyard! Always a fun time!
Amazing place!!!
Family friendly children's museum.
Too young for an 8 and 9 year old.
Had a great experience at this museum. Our child loved the exhibits and would highly recommend it for toddlers through elementary age kids.
Good place to visit with little kids
The museum is great for children. However it needs some renovations upstairs. The young staff was wonderful. For a children's birthday party location you can't beat the price or the activities. $150 for about 2hrs, for a party of 30+, private puppet show, private play room, complimentary party favors, and party invitations, and personal party guide. Just bring your food, cake, dishes, drinks and any decorations you would like to put up.
I had no idea the did birthdays till we attended one. It was cool the room was huge and the kids loved it
Lots of fun!
Lots of fun. Biscuits baxkyaef is great for little ones. Dress up is fun for older kids.
Always very informative and hands on. The staff is friendly and they keep all the activity areas very clean despite the high volumes of children they get. I have been bringing my son here since he could walk and he has a blast every time. Would definitely recommend for tourists.
Hands in fun for kids & we loved it!
The Chair are wearing
Fun for family
A fun way for young kids to explore history and have a hands on experience
Educational great for kids 3-9
My two year old loved. Especially that backyard place on it. He got to meet Skye off Paw Patrol. I would say it's more younger kids but I seen a few older kids in there enjoying themselves.
This place is awesome. We had visited and loved it. We had my daughter's sixth birthday party here and it was wonderful. They went above and beyond to make her day special.
So cute & charming...the decorations & thought to make it realistic is amazing...the educated info was impressive!
I used to love coming here for school field trips !
I took my grandchildren on separate visits. They had a blast! I would consider a membership if they didn't live so far away.
Attended Supper with Santa and had a blast! The volunteers are phenominal!
We have an annual membership, my grand children love it so much. They frequently ask to go to the museum. . It is wonderful for the nine year old as well as the 2 and 3 year olds. It is the three year olds favorite place to go.
Awesome place
Lovely staff. Some exhibits are too wordy and could be more interactive. Kept my kids entertained for hours and met some new friends too!
my son loves this place!
Learned a lot about Alabamas history. My one year old had fun exploring in a non crowded environment. Staff was super friendly and welcoming.
Kind of small, staff very friendly. Learned a lot about Alabama history. Our kids loved it.
Great place for all sorts of kids! An area for 18mo or below to play in, tons of things for kids (especially if they love pretend and stories!). Friendly and helpful staff :)
Amazing place! Most kid friendly, mom friendly place I have ever visited!
We had a birthday party for our one-year-old at Early Works yesterday and it was the most pleasant expierence ever! We had a big group of 36 people and they were so accommodating. Biscuits Backyard is so fun and the museum is so cool! Our host was so nice and let us take our time in the party room! She was so great and sweet with all the children. They supply party favors and they price VERY VERY fair. We are so happy with the entire day. I REALLY recommend throwing your birthday parties at Early Works if you’re looking for an affordable, fun for all, no stress party environment. Thank your Early Works for making our babies birthday great!!! We will be coming back!
Enjoyed it very much
The kids enjoyed the activities.
Great place for kids to learn about historical facts focused on Alabama's past.
Great experience for kids!
a bit expensive but worth it. you can spend the whole afternoon there with family.
Great family fun
Great rainy day outing for the kids.
We were just passing through Huntsville, and I was so pleasantly suprised with this Children's museum. It's one of my favorites in the US especially if your children are smaller. I only wish we had more time to spend there. The staff was also incredibly kind.
Awesome! My daughter used to go there. Today she took HER daughter! A positive experience every time.
Good place if you have ypung kids. I would say under 6. But they have a ton of interactive stuff my son loved.
We love EarlyWorks. A fun way for our kids to spend a rainy day!!
Great for the kids in learning history about Alabama.
Definitely not entertaining for a 4 year old. Not one single staff member spoke to us or asked if they could help us. It's basically a "Look at pictures hanging on the walls" kind of place. There was a room with a pond and fishing (plastic fish in bleach water) and that's where we spent our time. For the admission price I expected more.
Lots of interactive fun for all ages of kids, even the very small ones. Worth stopping by if you're on a trip or keeping on your rainy day list if you're a local.
Great event space!!!
Staff is friendly, and kids of all ages love this place!
We really enjoyed it. Great family slow paced fun.
We came here for the first time in a school field trip and the kids really enjoyed it. The workers are really nice and it seemed to flow good.
We love love love Early Works!! My son can play for hours and learns so much, while having fun!!
We used The Grand Ballroom for our daughter's wedding reception. The place was nice however, it was hard trying to reach someone to talk with over the phone. I left messages and never received a return call.
Love. Great for the kids
The kid loved it. Lots to play with friendly staff.
Was wonderful my granddaughter had a great time!!
Absolutely Fabulous!!
Love the way I was treated here
This place looks great from outside. I do hope the museum will be revamped soon. Even my 6 year old found the computer interactive very annoying as it was repeating the same thing when it was not in active use. Several exhibits didn't work right or were broken.
Shared some time with my grandchildren
An excellent place for a day with the kids. We have visited the museum twice, once with just our 10 year old son, and again with him and our 6 year old grand daughter. Both times were filled with fun and wonder. We shall be returning regularly from our home town, Prattville, well worth the 3 hour drive!!
Must Go
It's fun, kinda small, a little pricey at $20 for a kid and adult at military discount... but, still fun.
This museum is very interactive for younger kids but even our 12 year old enjoyed it. The staff is very helpful and friendly. Definitely worth the membership price.
Love it. It is better than the one we have at home in Baltimore. Kids learnt a lit bit history from it too, not just a place for toys
Enjoyed my visit here.
Wish it had a few more areas to check out, but nice overall for my 2 year old.
Kids love it! But adults will get board after 1st visit!
Wonderful mix of fun and learning. Went with a 3 year old and a 6 year old. Both had a great time
A fun place to bring your kids!
Wonderful service! People are very friendly
D
Fun and entertaining place to take the kids. Majority of the exhibits will give a little bit of light on the historic past of the Tennessee Valley area. The exhibit with the river ship was a huge hit for my son. Decent pricing. If looking for a family outing that will keep thw kids moving while inside this is a good spot to head.
A wonderful place for children and families to explore and have fun
Best place to visit with family anytime it is open. I must recommend get the membership. Employees are great.
Great hands on learning.
This is a fun place for kids to learn and play with other kids. It is clean and well maintained.
Had my nephews birthday here and we were very disappointed! The party planner was late by 45 minutes. We didnt get much help with our party. But i will say it was a nice place but customer service was awful.
Fun hands on activities for kids! Think the price is a bit too steep though.
One of the best places I’ve ever brought my daughter. She would stay here every day if able.
Great Museum for the kids and a great event space for weddings and corporate events.
Great place to wander around with young kids 4 to 10 yrs. We visited on a saturday, so i expected more people but it wasnt quite empty either. They do have a little cafe inside. A great deal of things were interactive and could be touched, which my 4 year old loved. I would love to have seen characters dressed up for the different time periods/areas to talk about the exhibitions. Oral history/interactive learning is better than reading a bunch of placards.
This was a wonderful hands on museum for children of all ages.
This is the best place for young children. All sorts of things a 3 year old can get into. No snack bar, but tables available if you bring your own snacks.
Just arrived for our 11 month old's first experience at Earlyworks only to find they are closed down until July 9th. Would have been nice if they had posted this on their website. Waste of gas and parking fees.
Supper with Santa was wonderful! The museum is a very warm, inviting place.
Keeps my son busy. Place to go and enjoy with your family
