Went there for a friend's wedding! Absolutely beautiful view especially during the sunset time! Clean and very well laid out. Perfect areas for pictures!
Such a fun trip with my 4 year old. The backpack activities were very age appropriate and got him interested and kept his attention. The playground areas, barnyard animals, hike and life size Lincoln logs were his favorite. The museum is interesting for adults and the scenery is great. Prefect family day trip.
Really enjoyed this museum. Took the family and spent a few hours doing the self guided tour. A lot history and really liked the houses from 1800s. Did a small hike down the mountain trail to the road and saw tow deer. I would recommend a visit.
Such a beautiful place, and the staff was knowledgeable and kind. There's plenty to see, and it's not surprising that it's a popular place to get married. The old cars and houses are so interesting!
Great Great piece of Huntsville History. Well worth the trip. Great customer service.
Very educational
It was extremely interesting. There are some general upkeep type things that would add to the aesthetics. If more folks who live in the area could volunteer and/or donate, perhaps some of those things could be improved upon.
Beautiful view. Just make sure you get there before they close. If you don't, it's no big deal. You'll just have to go up a steep hill from the entrance.
Went to see The Sanders Family Christmas play and it was amazing! The church was charming and perfect size for that kind of show.
Need more food and drink for outside activities
Beautiful Place and awesome Service
I used to visit Burritt on field trips in elementary school and always loved it. And my husband and I recently got married there! It's an absolutely beautiful place for a wedding, with great views of Huntsville and a spacious reception hall. All of the staff and volunteers are very nice and helpful.
Very pretty place for a wedding.
The museum alone is worth the trip up and the views are stunning of the history facile valley but today's outing was wonderful. The historical demonstrations they do are well done, the exhibits are good and the reenactora are engaging and knowledgeable. Today we saw sheep shorn, wool cleaned, weaving etc. the children there seemed enthralled and the museum does a great job catering to younger crowds as well as adults. We are members and enjoy Saturday's on the mountain.
Huntsville's own state park right here in the middle of the city!! Wonderful place for kids, adults, hikers, bikers, and nature lovers!! Check out their webpage for camping, cabins for rent, picnicing, hiking trails and so much more
Interesting history and well presented historical context.
The weather and sunset on The View were great!
Never even knew this was here until my employer held our banquet here. We plan to return again because the view is amazing and the museum is interesting and fun.
Fun family time. Lots to do.
A nice stroll through time. Great views and a beautiful place for weddings. Christmas will be decorated, lit up, and they'll have carolers.
Amazing place with great mountain overlook. Has a little kids play area as well! Loved this place - it was a little cold and chili when we went there, felt real amazing. Has a nice little gift shop as well
Recently visited Burritt for a wedding. I did not tour the mansion or grounds on this trip but I have done so on previous visits. Grounds are well kept. The mansion and other historical exhibits are well preserved and interesting. The newer lookout platform and the hall are modern beautiful additions but also complement the other historical structures. Of course the greatest attraction at Burritt is the location itself: Monte Sano Mountain! If you are just visiting Huntsville or have lived here your whole life you should visit Burritt.
Beautiful view of Huntsville.
Very beautiful mountain!
I have lots of fond memories of the Burritt from my childhood - mostly of the amazing views. Lucky for me, one of my best childhood friends even had her wedding here a few years ago, so I got to revisit and relive some of those memories. The Burritt continues to grow and expand. It's now got quite the collection of cabins and side buildings that depict what life was like in the valley and surrounding hills in the early days of Huntsville history. The Burritt also host plenty of historic festivals and special exhibits throughout the year.
The museum and park have a great view of downtown Huntsville, and are cooler in the summer. The occasion was a special Celtic Day with a half dozen displays: Irish Society of North Alabama, harpers, weavers, Irish dance demonstration, and Scottish dance, in th he historic village area. More folks would have attended with more publicity.
It was picturesque- a nice place for a wedding. But I wish the grade school field trip included more interactive activities.
Beautiful scenery and great area to relax by lake.
Very nice spot on the mountain. Incredible view of the city. Lot's of historical stuff to see.
Beautiful place! The staff was awesome! And my Show was amazing!!!
We attended the City Lights Concert Friday night. The In the Mood Band played 40's music and some 50-60's. Weather was beautifully temperate with a cool breeze. We ate our brought in supper as the sun set to great music. This is a very popular venue and Friday was no exception and was in fact, exceptional. One problem is parking. You must arrive very early to park in the mtn. lot. We had to ride in school buses with chairs and coolers,, etc. It is always oversold. My parents in their 80's had to go through this. The evening brightened once we arrived and got settled, but it was a very aggravating way to begin the evening. If you attend, go one and a half hour prior to the start.
Burritt on the Mountain is a gorgeous mountaintop park and living history museum atop Monte Sano Mountain in Huntsville, Alabama. The venue also boasts a gorgeous hall near the bluff that, used in conjunction with the recently built outdoor space called "The View" or the gazebo, is very popular as a wedding ceremony and reception site. Burritt holds a good many events throughout the year such as small concerts, craft events, historical celebrations, and more. The staff are wonderful to work with, and it is definitely a must-do spot when visiting the Rocket City.
Awesome place to go and check out. I took my two daughters 4&6 into the mansion and told them not to touch anything and the gentleman that was the guide said no its fine he wanted them to touch and to be hands on, and when one of my girls inevitably broke something on the music player anyway he was really nice about it. Also nice gift shop with nice staff
I look at everything as a whole. This place is nice and has some good views of huntsville has a walking trail and 6 or 7 cabins....however it is absolutely not worth price of admission. 2 adults and 2 kids for $36 is a little ridiculous for a self guided tour with not a whole lot to see or do. Most of the staff there was absolutely wonderful and helpful except for one lady she was rude to my kids and wouldn't let the knit or touch her knitting stuff and this was on a children's fun day where they are supposed to be able to interact and do things they did back in the 1800's so it felt to me and my wife like she just thought our kids were too young to care so why bother teaching them. Other than her everyone else was great. But as far as the whole place being worth $36 I see more of a $20 value on this where kids under 10 get in free they shouldn't have to pay for suffering through a boring experience for them.
Nice collection of historic architecture from Alabama in the historic park, with lengthy wooded hiking trails encircling the campus
Cocktails with a view is a chill and fun experience. It's a great way to see Huntsville unlike anywhere else in the city!
Great place to learn about early American history and lifestyle for any age group or family
Nice historical Museum on the Mountain. Very nice family activity. Important to bring your kids to see how people lived not very long ago. Very nice location for a special event (wedding, dance etc). People are very nice. Check out Sweetpea the heirloom pig!
Attended a wedding reception. Beautiful facility and view!
I went here with my son's class as a field trip and absolutely loved the hike and the whole outdoor experience.. I will definitely be returning to enjoy with family and friends..
This place is gorgeous! It is the perfect wedding/reception location in Huntsville. However, there are no hotels there and you would need to bus your guests from the wedding to the reception and/or the hotel. In the alternative, you can have an alcohol free wedding.
Amazing venue! I enjoyed an evening concert with great foods and drinks available. But that view! Makes the entire experience just that much better. In fact, the view alone would be worth the stop, the music just made the experience that much better.
Nice place.
Beautiful views. Historical village was just awesome. Great place to spend the day exploring!
It was a great adventure to our weekend!
Our grandson loved this place. Very Interesting place to visit and good views of the city.
Beautiful view of Huntsville. I've gone for a couple events and I loved the atmosphere. This is a great venue.
Views and facilities are beautiful. Staff didn't know a thing about their own sound system so the ceremony wasn't very well held.
Great venue for weddings.
Burritt has a lot of history and one of the best views in Huntsville. On a clear day you can see the Saturn V at the Space and Rocket Center as well as the test stands at Marshall Space Flight Center. You can tour the mansion and see how people used to live in the village replica. There is a gift shop and play areas for the kids. They also offer a wedding venue. Burritt seems to have unique events year round.
Great views! The new patio space is amazing. It's a nice place.
Happy fathers day from burrits on the mountain!
So beautiful, and everyone was so nice.
Excellent cafe and scenery
Relaxing, and historical, great views, informational and have a special events building
Beautiful view of the city
It's a beautiful place. There are a lot of different views and things to see. It's well worth a trip
It was ok... the employees won’t very interactive inside the area, but the front ladies were very nice and sweet. Probably won’t go again.
Antique enthusiasts probably wont cease to critique the mansion ! Still enjoyable because it is culture.
Always a great time with the kids. Educational and relaxing.
Always love it there
Wow. I didn't even know it was in hunstville. Came here with my son field trip. We both enjoyed it
Really interesting historical site! There are several cabins that vary across the years, burritt's mansion, and an animal farm to check out. Admission is around $12. Beautiful view of Huntsville and a perfect spot for weddings and events. I'm excited to return for another event soon!
Summer camp seemed to be well organized. The little girl I picked up said she had a lot of fun
Disappointing. Pricey for such a hodge-podge of historical art, people and furniture with no connection to Burritt. The mix between modern and past is conflicting. I would not recommend as a tourist attraction but as a wedding venue, both thumbs up.
A very cool place to visit, beautiful overlook, knowledgeable staff, lots of local history.
Interesting old neoclassical style mansion with a nice historic building park. Also has a party venue.
One of the most beautiful wedding venues in Huntsville let alone in Alabama. Noel and her staff answered all of our questions and helped all that they could along the way. Highly recommend.
Great place to go and take the kids. They have really good historical buildings. I actually worked then and replaced the siding recectly. It already looked really good, and now looks much better. They also have tours you can take. They show you how everything was done back in the 1800s. Also having live animals to help preserve how people lived a few hundred years ago. Really good place and neat to visit.
Great place to explore with the kids!
This is a magnificent estate located high up on Montesano Mountain with a majestic view of Huntsville and surrounding areas. They have a nice museum and many other rustic attractions in a natural setting. They have a nice coffee shop also. There's a small entrance fee for the museum and ample free parking. There's nice hiking trails that connect to the Land Trust and they are accessible for free. Weddings are frequently held here as well as other functions.
Beautiful place to host any event.
NICE more to come
Nice place for the kids to learn
The view was breath taking!!
cocktails with a view on Wednesday night's, watch the sun set have a cocktail and light appitizer (whennwe went you could purchase a cute basket with small cutting board, cheeses, grapes, prosciutto) really charming. visit during the day and check out the historical mansion...wish they would do more on the inside of the mansion and restore it more elaboratly. the grounds are well kept, there are educational programs, nature trails, event spaces. gift shop had a nice selection. theybwere setting up for a wedding the day i was there, looked prefect.
The people are so wonderful !
Attended a wedding here. The facility was beautiful. No bugs to deal with and the food was good.
GORGEOUS! Beautiful, well preserved estate & grounds. Knowledgeable staff. Really want to come back for the Cocktails on the View" overlooking the city!
We arrived late. We did not get to tour inside buildings. The outside was very nice. Many positive changes.
Great place. They have done so many good things since I was there last
Great Museum from the early pioneers time
Great Alabama history. Friendly staff.
No words to describe how amazing this place is. I love how it is setup and the feel of the place overall.
Amazing place with an amazing view.
Place my niece chose to get married at. As wedding coordinator ,found them extremely helpful and professional. The view exceptional, every aspect of the grounds clean and well maintained! Highly recommend.
The Kris Kringle's Candlelight Christmas was a great experience. The event provided many different styles of live music. Roasted chestnuts and figgy pudding were available for sampling. Crafts, Santa, and other activities were available for the children.
This is a very nice place to go and watch the sunset
Very beautiful!
Very interesting and everyone enjoyed it!
One of the most beautiful event venues I’ve been to!
Amazing place
Loved Cocktails at The View! Very romantic!
It was beautiful! I hate that you have to pay to get in to see the stars and lights
Burritt on the Mountain is a great museum for younger children and for a family trip. The livestock and the old structures really make you feel like you're leaving in the early years of Alabama history. The views from the top of Monte Sano are always brilliant.
Very lovely with beautiful scenery rich with history.
Had a great time
Wonderful place to learn history in an interactive fun way.
Can you visit this place for FREE???
Love going for city lights and stars. I always enjoy the gift shop too
Went here with my son on a 2nd grade field trip and really enjoyed ourselves. This is Huntsvilles first museum and is very interesting to take a step back in time to how things were done and very informative to little minds. I would reccomend going here at least once not very expensive and would make for a good something to do on a weekend trip.
Beautiful view of the Huntsville skyline from this museum. Lots of old buildings from the 19th century. The staff works hard to gear the exhibits towards the whole family, making it a great place to take kids.
Awesome Place to learn history and walk
Had a great time! Look forward to going back.
AMAZING VIEW of the valley. The content of the museum was a low point. But the house was neat and worth looking at.
I went with my wife to one of her relatives wedding. Nice scenery for a wedding. It was a great event
Very nice and knowledgeable people. Everything was wheelchair accessible.
Beautiful place and very friendly and helpful people! Wonderful atmosphere and a beautiful place to relax.
My son had his wedding at this site and we could not have had a more beautiful venue! Great veiws over the city and nice areas indoors for food and dancing.
We visited Burritt on the Mountain for the first time a few weeks ago and my family and I had a great experience. All the staff was very helpful and friendly. The views were gorgeous and seeing the old buildings was great. Only downside is it's a little pricey.
A hidden treasure tucked away on the mountain. It might not be seen from the road, but when you arrive, the view is breathtaking! Our 3rd-6th graders went on a field trip here, and they enjoyed it immensely! The tour guides were very accommodating, and the children loved the activities they were involved in during their visit. Overall, it was a very pleasant experience for everyone involved! Don't miss seeing the enormous cross! You have to hike a mile to see it, but it's definitely worth it to view this beautiful structure! There is so much history to learn about here, and the tour guides were eager and willing to share it with visitors!
This was a great stop for our family in Alabama! We were on a road trip and Huntsville happened to be our midway stopping point for the day. I let my 6 year old choose between the Space Museum or the Burritt Mountain and he chose Burritt! It was a hot day (90 degrees +) but other than that, we had a great time and glad we went. The view was great, the mansion was very interesting to see, and the 2 men on the farm were very knowledgeable and friendly. The ladies in the gift shop were also wonderful, gave us other recommendations in the area for kids and meals. And the gift shop had some unique items too! We probably spent 3 hours total at Burritt, and very glad we got to see it! We will definitely recommend to others if Alabama is a place they are headed.
Beautiful view of the city - informative tour and interesting house and grounds. On a clear day you can see the rocket. Sunset is spectacular. Yearly events are a must-go!
This is a beautiful venue for a wedding! The views are spectacular!
Wedding venue is excellent.
Nice history. Pretty location. Friendly Folks! Good outdoor exercise. Must see in Huntsville.
Great little place. Lovely views, cool way to learn about history. Easy trails to hike.

Beautiful view, beautiful people!
Beautiful and relaxing looking over city.
Historically Good, not a lot of antique except for a music box
Beautiful, simply beautiful. Beautiful view, beautiful ball room for wedding receptions & parties.!
Great place to visit
It was a nice place....
Good visit.
Stunning view of the city.
Fun place to connect with Alabama heritage. Playgrounds and animals for the kids
Great experience. Learning about the natural beauty of what Huntsville has to offer Alabama.
A delight of a place Visit here to live the time of 1800s in a mountain of settlers. Wish today’s life could be so simple with produce in the farm, school in same village, small but nice hand-built houses. Must visit if you are in Huntsville.
It's heaven on Earth. Beautiful place to visit with your loved ones...
Want romance? Want history? Want culture & beauty? You can get all these plus much more just visiting this place! Be sure to check out the gift shop! Ideal stuff for Christmas! Stuff your stocking with honey made right from the Tennessee Valley!
Didnt get to enter for being closing time but looked nice. Will return to visit.
The most beautiful wedding venue imaginable.❤
Nice family plac3
Management last year let the pool get green and did not do chemicals often
A true gem in Huntsville!
Beautiful views,
Wow, is this Huntsville? Went here for one of their City Lights and Stars concerts Friday night. $12 for advance tickets. Beautiful venue for a concert. The view of Huntsville is fantastic during sunset. The tiered lawn nice enabling everyone to have a view of the band. Only complaint is I wish they wouldn't force you to buy their alcohol. It is nice they scheduled food trucks to come up. Will be back.
Awesome Learning Experience. Sheryl is an excellent guide with a wealth of information!
Great to see at least once
A great place to bring children and family. Great views and sights to see as well.
Excellent history park. Knowledgeable, friendly staff..in the house as well as the log cabin areas.
I only got to visit this place at night, but from what I saw, it has a lot of history and I was interested in the classes they gave there.
Loved the mountain has an AMAZING view. Perfect for weddings... the mansion wasn’t what we thought itd be but it was nice. They have a horse and some sheep you can pet. The staff is really friendly and they have a big sandbox for the kids.
I had wonderful niece's wedding to attend. Seeing my brother's with their wife's and sister's with their husband was fantastic everything was
Beautiful view over Huntsville. Great place for a wedding.
