I had a great experience with Kris and the movers! They worked around my schedule. Everything was packed up great and nothing was damaged. I drove over a 1000 miles and nothing moved in the truck. I cannot thank you guys enough for what you did for me! Tell the guys they were great!

My family has a complaint against Dan’s Moving Van. They had been hired to both do the packing and moving for my elderly parents who were moving into an assisted living facility. The problem began with the packing. There were nothing but complaints even though they knew the amount that needed to be packed in their small apartment. They also informed us that we were required to pack as well. We were confused because that is what we hired THEM to do. We felt that we had no choice at that point because the following day was moving day. Moving day was also a nightmare because all the employees did was complain about moving things up 3 flights of stairs (which, again they were fully aware). When they brought boxes up to the apartment they dropped them anywhere even though they were labeled. They left an antique plant stand sitting by the elevator. I’m just glad I spotted it. The BIGGEST problem was that a number of things went missing: Antique table Collectible Depression Glass pieces Antique Chicken Feeder used for dried flowers 24 X 36 print of flowers (matted and valuable 2 large rocks (decorative) When we asked Dan’s about these items, they accused us of inadvertently giving them to Goodwill.We did NOT give these items to Goodwill. All the items donated to Goodwill were in open baskets and in my car. Dan’s REFUSES to take responsibility for these items missing, saying that that “has never happened to them”....well it has NOW. This is the absolute worst experience with movers that we’ve ever had! If you want all your belongings to be delivered to your destination NEVER Use Dan’s Moving Van! They don't even deserve 1 star.

2 man crew (Mike & Evan) showed up on time and got right to work. They were courteous and professional the entire time. They listened to my concerns and made sure I understood every step of the process. It was a very hot, muggy day and they maintained an upbeat attitude. While I hope not to move again, I would not hesitate calling Dan's again for my moving needs.

Nick and his friend, Omar, were pleasant and respectful to me; however, I cannot say my furniture got the same treatment. I have hired movers many times in the past to move me and have never had so much damage to my furniture, which was all brand new 6 months before this move! They came with no dolly, and did not secure my items as I have seen other movers do. I was concerned but thought they knew what they were doing. I wish now I had participated more in the wrapping of my furniture and in the packing of the truck. I am still finding damages as I slowly organize and unpack. My microwave cart drawer was broken into pieces, cracked and nicked across front, having been forced open past the drawer stop screw. (Not sure why they had to open it at all.) Just noticed this morning that that cart is all nicked up along the side edges too. My new white box spring was filthy black on two sides. There is a chip in the front drawer of my new dresser and a long scratch on the side of my chest of drawers. My oak file cabinet has a deep scratch on the top. Several of my plastic crates are cracked beyond further use and a couple of my coffee mugs which were wrapped in bubbled wrap in a box labeled "glass" were literally shattered. My 90-mile move was from a ground floor duplex into a third floor apartment with a small building elevator, however; I do not feel my furniture or my personal items were handled with care. I made Nick aware of the damages I noticed before he left and he apologized and gave me $100 off my $1250 fee. Kris and Nick both expressed regrets and gave me suggestions on how to get the stains out of my box spring and various products to use to hide the scratches. They also gave me the name of a furniture repair company and told me the $100 should cover the repairs to my furniture. Although I appreciate their suggestions and the discount, I am still very disappointed that there was so much damage. It should never have happened in the first place with professional movers. Again, I have NEVER experienced such damage with any movers. I do not feel this was a professional job and am sorry to say although they seem like very nice people, I cannot recommend this company for moving furniture. Carole Hare Marquette, MI

Moved from Cecil to Howard. Dan's Moving was definitely the most reasonably priced. They showed up on time, worked steady to load and delivered and unpacked all within 5-6 hours. The guys were courteous, polite, and we didn't find one thing broken or damaged. Dan Gauthier (owner) personally followed up with us the next day to be sure everything went smoothly and that our customer experience was outstanding. I would recommend them and have. We will be definitely be using them again.

At first the two men that came seemed great! They were efficient and seemed very nice.They packed up their truck with the first load and then informed us that they would need to "get gas" because they were almost on empty. It was obvious that they knew they were on empty prior to coming to my house seeing as they told me about it before getting back into their truck. That is something that should have been taken care of PRIOR to arriving and not done on my dime. Once we arrived to the new house with the first truck load, comments were made about the amount of stuff they had to unload and they called in another worker to help. This guy was USELESS. He was RUDE and not careful with our items. I could hear all three guys talking among themselves, saying things like "they just sat there and watched us work". I am not sure whether that was directed toward us or not, but since their were several similar comments, we decided we better help unload. The worker they called in wouldn't look at any of the boxes to see where they should go and would tell us that he will just "set it there" and that we could put it where we want it. He would drop boxes into our arms and not even assure we had a grip on the boxes before walking away. During the unloaded process, he would make comments like "...why don't we just put everything in the garage" or "the garage looks like a good place for this" because he did not want to have to bring the boxes into the house. We went back to the old house and loaded the truck for the second time. The guys this time around were NOT careful whatsoever with my things and anything that was in a bag, they just tossed up the basement stairs. I went into the basement with two of the three workers and I noticed one of them had gone into my refrigerator and helped himself to a soda. He never asked. I called him out on it and stated that it would be appreciated if he would ask before helping himself. Come to find out, when I went back to the house the next day, three other sodas were also opened from my refrigerator and left in my basement. None of which were asked for. Not only did they help themselves to my refrigerator, they left the garbage in the basement for me to clean up the next day. When I informed the owner of the company of this, his response was sometime to the effect of "...most customers offer our employees beverages but since you did not, they know better than to help themselves." I did offer beverages (prior to the 3rd guy showing up). Moving peoples things is their job. They should know to come prepared with their own beverages for if they get thirsty while working. I don't feel it is my responsibility to make sure they have something to drink. The owner did state that he suspended the one employee who I confronted about taking the soda. He also stated that because I did not tell the employees before they left about any items being broken, that it is not their responsibility. Who in their right mind can go through all of their boxes and check over everything moved in that day to see if items were broken or not? We were also never told to check the back of their truck to make sure all items were out, they just closed the truck up and told us they were finished. Come to find out, my shoe rack is broken, my desk has a big chunk chipped out of the side of it, my bed frame is missing a wheel and the list goes on. VERY disappointing in both the employees and the owner. I do want to say however that one of the gentlemen was professional and careful the entire time, but the other two were not.

Nick kept in touch with me for weeks before the move and made me feel so confident that all would go well. I told him about my terrible experience with a local mover and was fearful of having another bad experience. It went perfectly.
