This is an interesting decision. On one hand the first move was not great but the second move was wonderful.
We sold our house and needed to move into an apartment while our new house was being built. For this move we were supposed to have a group of men come day one to take what we were taking to the apartment. An extra person was supposed to come to do the packing of pictures. Day two was supposed to be for the guys to come and take the rest of the items to storage.
Day 1 - 3 guys and a way too small truck arrive. It takes 10 hours to load the truck and not everything can be taken. We get to the apartment and the guys are in such a hurry because they have to be in Iowa that night that they didn't finish putting things together. At least we had the bed.
Day 2 - 5 guys and a larger truck came and instead of just moving to storage they had some items that had to come to the apartment. Another 11 hour move. Way too much time wasted because of the small truck and the lack of bodies. (By the way, the 5 bedroom 5000 square foot house was looked at twice so they should have know what was needed)
Ten months later. Moving day. 5 guys and large truck come to the apartment and are wonderful. Done and taken to the new house in less than 7 hours. Day two the stuff from storage came with more guys and a wonderful foreman. The guys were great and did everything we asked them. So the move depends on the staff.
Then there was the issue of broken or lost items. Because we didn't unpack everything for awhile, we didn't realize that a large picture that they had packed had a cracked glass.
Also, we couldn't find a piece for a glass and marble table. We waited to unpack everything to make sure it wasn't somewhere.
I contacted Ace on June 12th (94 days after the move) and were told it was too late to make a claim by 4 days. No exceptions. They were going to keep looking for the piece for the table. If they hadn't been the ones to pack the picture then I could see that, but THEY did it.
I realize this was long but we had good and bad with this company. If you use, make sure that they bring enough help and that the crew does not have anything else that day. Also, if you have expensive items make sure you take out their insurance, because we didn't use the "best" insurance and when they broke one of our lamps we didn't get replacement, we got poundage - so it came to $12 for the $175 lamp . Just warning.
