This company is the BEST. My husband and moved from our home of 32 years. Torey, James, Mike, and LJ did an excellent job of packing up our old house and getting everything to the new place without incident. Runners were put down on all floors and stairway as not to damage them or get them dirty. The way they padded and wrapped everything was incredible and during the biggest snow of the year! The price was great, the guys were all polite and wonderful, and owner Terry was a pleasure to work with. Fast and efficient. I would recommend this moving company to any and all that have a need. Thank you for making our big move go smoothly.

Highly recommend! Lawrence and Tory were fast, fun, and very respectful of our belongings! Even with a big couch that didn't want to get through any of the doorways at my old home or my new place... they figured out a plan quickly and got the job done! I don't think I've ever laughed so much while moving. More affordable, efficient, and way faster than moving by myself... I'll only use Above Average Moving from now on!

We were still pleased with our movers from Above Average. They arrived right on time, were friendly and were all about getting the work done--the right way. They were careful with our items, but moved quickly (they were clearly experienced movers). Even with some hiccups and delays (things out of their control), we strongly recommend Above Average Movers. Lastly, Terry, the owner was AWESOME. He came right to our house the day I inquired, to give us an accurate estimate. He confirmed with me a few days before the move that we were still all set. Excellent customer service all the way around.

Lawrence and Tory are amazing. I've used many moving companies in the past but Above Average exceeded all of my expectations. I had to move my father into assisted living with very little notice and I called Above Average for a move the next day. Terry got me a quote immediately and it seemed quite reasonable. The next day Lawrence called to let me know when they were 30 minutes out, and they arrived on time. Both Lawrence and Tory were personable and easy to work with. The items were removed from the house quickly and carefully, and at the other end they took great care to be polite to and respectful of the residents of the assisted living facility. Moving large items past people using walkers and wheelchairs was a challenge but these guys are professionals and handled it perfectly. And they finished in less time than the estimate. I highly recommend them!

My sofa sleeper was too big to fit up the stairwell in my apartment so I had to call these guys to move in my furniture over the balcony on the second floor. They had the whole job done within 25 minutes! They brought all the equipment they needed and the guys definitely knew what the were doing (and they were friendly). They even brought a carpet runner so they didn't get my carpet wet from outside. Would highly recommend to anyone looking to move!

They live up to their name. My wife and I are just getting the last of our boxes unpacked. I have a few reviews to leave for people who have helped us, but above average moving comes first, due to their exemplary efforts and employees. We underestimated the volume of belonging to be moved, but the two movers assigned us, possibly through years of tetris playing, fit everything onto the one truck allocated. They stopped for a brief lunch on the way up (from madison to steven's point), but besides that they literally did not rest until the move was done, running back amd forth to the truck the entire time. Were i a mover i would think it reasonable to slow down a bit, but this just shows how committed and honest this company is. Despite the very active nature of the move, none of our items were damaged. It's difficult to say enough good things about these, they are clearly hungry for more business and i would reccomend them confidently and without hesitation. I dont know how they did it and we are very grateful for their dedication and professionalism.

Worst mover ever in 28 years, seven moves! Terry, owner, doesn't respond to calls or emails! As I am now unpacking, movers put 5 items in a huge box, used 10 pieces of paper plus bubble wrap!!! Items not fragile!!! Worst mover ever!!!

I can not speak highly enough of this company. We had a complicated move and Terry and his colleagues were professional, organized, efficient, and had a great attitude. Moving is stressful but this company made it so much easier. I would highly, highly recommend them for your move and also put in a plug for the upholstery cleaners that work with them.

I will only use Above Average Moving in the future! Their professionalism, pace, and safety with my items was above and beyond. I had to suddenly move when I discovered that my roommates were abusing my dogs. I called Above Average and spoke with Terry, who was able to schedule a next-day full move of my unpacked apartment. The movers helped me pack quickly and efficiently, with excellent regard for my fragile/breakable items. They moved my piano like bosses, too, and I knew that my piano was in strong, safe hands. They were also completely professional when my roommates decided to begin a verbal conflict; the movers stood quietly by my side and made me feel safe. The movers were fun to talk to, kind, professional, funny, and hardworking. I’ve never had a better moving experience before, and I will only hire Above Average in the future!

On the way out I glanced into their truck and I was floored by how neatly and safely everything was organized; they must be really good at Tetris. They were also so much fun to be around. Terry and his crew were awesome! My job was a small move job...I only needed to move a grand piano (not the whole house) and all the employees treated my family like we were were their #1 priority. They all said "hello" and "thank you" to us...very noticeable how friendly they all were. I had two different crews - Lawrence and Ethan for move out and Terry and Jimmy for move in. Each one was flying around working super hard but also being very careful. I couldn't have been more impressed or happy that I decided to go with above average. As a very frugal individual this was my first time "splurging" on movers - with a pregnant wife with twins on the way it was money very well spent.

Recently, I needed to set up a local move in the Madison area – made all the more difficult because I was trying to arrange such from another state and there was a family medical issue involved that made the situation very fluid and uncertain at times. Fortunately, I ended up speaking with Terry who guided me through the entire process. I quickly discovered that Terry was a real professional in his line of work as he patiently answered the multiple questions I had and inspired my confidence in him and his crew. Of equal importance to me was the fact Terry was “a really nice person” – that was meaningful and helpful because of the medical issue, which Terry was very understanding of and sensitive to. Despite the fact that I needed to change the day of the move a couple of times, Terry and his crew were very flexible in accommodating me even arranging for a move on a Sunday. To make a long story short, turns out the medical issue took a positive turn and we no longer needed the move at all. I called Terry, explained the situation and he was thrilled the medical issue had been resolved and “no worries” about having to cancel the move. He wished me well and welcomed me back any time. Can’t say enough about this wonderful organization.

I used this company a few weeks back to move. I was able to get a quote right away and they were able to accommodate a last minute move fairly easily. The moving crew was even nice. HOWEVER I would NEVER use them again, nor recommend them to anyone! During the move my brand new sectional and mattress was damaged, multiple rips. The moving crew said someone would call me, that never happened. I called 6 times to date and have never received a call back. Every person I’ve spoke with has promised a call the next day for the owner, and NOTHING! I’m so angry. I would suggest using another company.

Excellent experience! Their quote was significantly less than others in the area. They recently moved a piano downstairs for us. The crew that arrived was friendly, polite, and did a great job. They were very careful and got our large 52" upright piano down the stairs quickly and without a single bump. They also were happy to move it to two different places in our lower level so we could decide which location we liked best for the piano. Would highly recommend!

Update, to an original post! I did go to the BBB to get results. I did apologize and the owner got back to me. I admit, I used poor choice words in my original post and I regret losing my cool. I didn't take kindly to being told I broke my own Television. I only resorted to posting reviews because I was brushed off for so long! I really enjoyed the crew and everyone, I didn't leave a 5 star because of the lack of communication. Overall will use them again!

Mike and Lawrence showed up to our apartment at 8AM, and were done unloading at the next apartment 45 miles away by 12:30PM. They were courteous, professional, and straight hauled ass. This was my first time hiring anyone for a move, but will not be my last. I can whole heartedly recommend these guys. Excellent work.

Above Average Moving did an unexpectedly difficult local move for on May 17, 2017, and did it very well. The expected part was a from a stuffed apartment to a condo, with a long stop at a Beltline storage locker for more furniture and a very heavy piano. They did that well: on time, focused and hard-working, had the right equipment, protected the floors and the odd-shaped items. Best crew I've worked with across 30 years and lots of moves. The unexpected part was that I became seriously ill and thus unavailable right as they were unloading at my condo. So they had to finish the move on their own. They made good judgements on where to place things, and were trustworthy throughout. And, Terry, the owner, offered to have 2 guys come back, at no charge, when I was feeling better and on site, to re-place any boxes and furniture. They did that well too-- very flexible in scheduling and on time. All in all, a very professional experience.

These guys are the BEST and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them to anyone looking for movers. On time, reasonable cost, and some of the hardest working guys I've ever met. We had a complex move and a 1-day time frame to work with between closing on 3 different houses and moving stuff from 2 storage units. We couldn't have been more happy with the crew. They were determined to get everything done and the owner Terry even showed up to help out unloading at 8pm on the night before the 4th of July. They were done at around 11:30pm that night and would have been happy to do more work if we needed. That shows a lot about what kind of company it is. Don't look anywhere else, call these guys and you will NOT be disappointed.

One fan broke and they left my pallet at the storage facility. Promised to bring back the pallet and never did. Refused to reimburse me for the fan. I didn't even ask for reimbursement for the small gouges left in my wall. Would not use again, would not recommend, which is too bad because the movers themselves were nice guys.

5.0 star rating 10/31/2016 WOW! Hats off to ABOVE AVERAGE MOVING! Extremely careful, detailed from arrival to end, fast, professional and reasonable. Terry is efficient, careful and helps you feel relaxed. Above Average takes the stress down significantly by their knowledgeable staff & Terry's leadership. Their prices are reasonable and I am delighted we went with them. I requested them to go by my warehouse to get more furniture which took more time than anticipated but that was my fault. They moved fragile items for me with the utmost of care. I've used Wheaton, (they broke our hand carved couch's top piece & leg off as well as my desk drawer was broken.) I've used Two Men & a Truck who promised me an experienced team yet sent two amateurs who were pokey& broke a special order door due to their inexperience! Both companies were stressful and damaged items. Both of those moves were horrific and men showed no compassion or respect for us or our items/ furniture. How wonderful to know there is one COMPETENT company if you want to move. I would use ABOVE AVERAGE MOVING AGAIN! Moving was an entirely different life experience using this company.
