For months I have been searching the internet for a company to remove my old very old baby grand piano at a realistic price. I was searching services on Craigslist and found John. I sent a request and within a minute I had a quote. He was polite and just seemed like someone I could work with. We spoke and he was very busy but said he would keep in touch with me while out on the road making his was towards my location. I don't think these guys sleep. He showed up Saturday evening with his boss. They couldn't have been nicer and ready to take care of a massive challenge removing my piano without damaging the surroundings. They knew what they were doing and had the task at hand within minutes. John and his boss went to work and removed the piano onto the truck within 5 minutes. Could not have been more impressed and asked if they would take an old chair as well and they did for a very reasonable fee. I have saved there number in my phone and it will be the first call I make in the future when I need some thing moved or removed!! Thank you Shields you guys RIOCK!!

I did not have the best experience therefore I cannot recommend them. * Communication between home office, the online chat and local movers was not good. After confirming a 9:00 move three different times, the movers were not prepared to start at 9. It then got pushed back to 10am (with no communication from the local movers about them being even later than that). I had to call the 800 number a few times. The move didn't begin until after 11:30am. * The ad advertises a 26sq ft truck. The truck that the movers came in was much smaller and already had old cruddy furniture in it. On the website, it talks about how we will be responsible if our items have bed bugs or fleas...what about packing my stuff with things from a previous client? How am I to know that that was clean? Furthermore, how did you whether or not my stuff could fit in the truck with other furniture still in it? I feel that the job was rushed because the movers were late. Some of my wooden items have nicks in them. When I tried to follow the process of talking about a claim the mover and dispatcher were on the defensive. "_______ has been doing this a long time." should not be the response to a claim. The move lasted a little over 2 hrs. Positive: No funds needed up front...if they are late or have poor communication, you can look for other options. I chose to wait because I was desperate (had been waiting on my furniture for over a month...it was hard to schedule time off work to make this happen). I had a choice to pay using Pay Pal after the move was completed.

We would not recommend. We used them and hired 4 people with dollies and packing material. 3 people showed up, and the 4th never showed. They had no packing equipment, but luckily we rented some just in case. They loaded quickly but one man was very unprofessional and dropped or damaged some of our belongings, as well as leaving for almost 2 hours to pick up a friend, and returning with a baby that sat on the side and cried off and on the entire rest of the move at both locations. We additionally had to tow him out of our yard because he parked in mud and spun out, which wasted another 2 hours and required a truck we had. At the end, they couldn't tell us a price because they didn't keep track, and we haggled out a deal based on memory, the result of which almost led to blows between two of the movers. At the end thwe discovered company gets over half of the pay, and the movers only received a very tiny portion of the fee, which was very sad since the two movers we really liked we would have loved to pay more. Overall it was very strange and we would definitely not recommend. We are giving them 2 not 1 stars because we loved the 2 movers that were there consistently.

Our last minute decision to hire someone to help us load our moving truck turned out 1000 times better than we could have hoped for. Shields confrmed our request and the next day Raymond and Chris showed up exactly on time (actually a few minutes early!!). Super nice and friendly guys who have apparently worked together and done this a time or two before! They hopped right to work and didn't stop till they finished the job...in half the time we figured they would need!!! Very Disappointed with their service, wont recommend them to anyone. WARNING! They came up with smaller truck with there own stuff was already there dont know why they keep on doing this to everyone. They are not at all professional, I have been booked them for my moving on the basis of 2hours , 2 person at $250 + $25= $275. The moment they started, they were very slow. I started helping them in order to get my moving within 2 hours since the distance between TO n FROM was just 4 miles. When they noticed this job might finished within 2 hours they started showing their tantrums by wasting time by seating in the truck and asking me to SIGN on document which was saying CLient will be liable for any damage b/c i asked them to put furniture first insipte of smaller boxes. I dont now whats wrong in that and they didnt warned me that this might damage anything, directly they have created this issue so big by calling here n there and the intension was only to earn more time so they can charge on me more money. There manager/boss was so rude on phone like he is doing my job for free. I was very disappointed with their service. The guy who was making this issue, his name is Ahmed. They have wasted 40 mins from 2 hours and charged me 1/2 hours charges more in order to make extra money. The basic intension was only to earn time. They left my furniture in basement and didnt put it on respective floor. We requested them alot but they were so rude. Only one thing they were keep asking. Give us extra money will do it. Shame! If this is the way to do the job, i wont recommend them to anyone.

Horrible, unreliable, dangerous and dishonest. I spent two weeks trying to work with Shields to confirm a two man crew to help us unload a 26’ U-Haul truck in New Hampshire. I paid my deposit up front which they were quick to collect, and expected some prompt customer service in response. Instead, the day before the move I couldn’t get anyone to confirm a crew would be at the storage to meet us. The morning of the move I was texted by the company that their crew wasn’t responding to their calls so they would find another crew and give us a 10% discount. This was after I had been calling them because no one had shown up or called me. About 45 minutes later a gut and a woman shuffled in and said they were our crew. They had no equipment and were clearly not in good condition. The woman was covered with sores and couldn’t have lifted anything heavier than a pack of cigarettes. The guy stumbled around eventually taking over almost breaking our furniture. We sent them away within minutes of their arrival. I called Shields and their statement was that we agreed to a two man crew only, no equipment, and they them quickly refunded our deposit. I think they are experienced in that!!! No apology, no acknowledgement that they sent two tweakers, and no offer to actually get us a good moving crew. We did get a great crew after this proving there are hard working responsible movers out there. But Shields is definitely not one of them. STAY VERY FAR AWAY FROM THESE GUYS!!!!

DO NOT USE THESE MOVERS, THEY WILL STAND YOU UP, TAKE A RESERVATION AND NEVER SHOW UP. I reserved them for my out of state move a month in advance, with an email confirmation and was assured the day before our move the time of arrival. The hired movers never showed up to my house and they didn't even call to say they weren't coming or will be late. Had to move myself in 100 degree weather since I had no notice to hire new movers. WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE I'VE EVER EXPERIENCED!! I wouldn't even give them 1 star!!

I scheduled my move with Hamilton on a Saturday afternoon for the following Sunday morning. With less than 24 hour notice, Hamilton and two other movers came with a truck and were highly professional, courteous and extremely careful moving my grandmother’s belongings from her apartment to a storage facility. They worked tirelessly for 6 straight hours with positive attitudes the whole time. I could not be happier with their service. Highly recommend!

My son text the night before saying that he had no help for his move the next morning. I found Shields Movers listed on Craigslist and starting texting them immediately. I needed help fast. I got a quick response and was told I could hire 2 helpers for the next morning after paying the deposit. The next morning, I contacted Shields to get more details because the number came in from out of state and I needed a local move like ASAP. Sheilds explained that they are a network team of national moving service providers and connected me to a team of local movers who in addition to showing up with 4 helpers and could also supply the moving truck. I could not believe it could all be possible on such short notice. After my 9AM call, we have a licensed and bonded moving company at the door by 1PM the same day. So I must also shout out my team of expert movers, "Latasha Jones of Focus Moverz of the Carolina's L.L.C." and " Rodney Battle of Rodney B All Round Movers Services" They attended to the care of the items to be moved like each peice was worth a million bucks. Had a really great experience with these movers. 3 very professional and friendly workers came to do the job. I felt very comfortable with them moving my stuff. They moved me from a 2 bedroom on the 2nd floor to a 1 bedroom on the 3rd floor. They had no complaints and were very respectful! My stuff was in great condition while they packed everything into the truck and unloading it into my new apartment. I was really stressed before moving and having this company be so professional and genuine made the process so much easier. I would recommend them to anyone and I guarantee an amazing job. If I could give - points I would. A lot of confusion from booking to order. 1. Asked for 26 ft truck got a 15 ft 2. Supposed to start at 10 am they showed up after 3 pm 3. The owner is an ignorant ass. 4. Would not waive the mileage fee nor the hours for a double trip despite their mistakes 5. Wouldn’t even talk to me after I was sarcastic. Excuse me for waiting for 6 hours for you to show up with inadequate equipment. To boot they were told to leave by the owner and did not pick up a box. So after my family, friends and additional help had staged my 4 br house on the lawn and driveway they left us high and dry . They left because of the owner’s lack of common decency to follow through or fix his own mistakes that led us into the situation.

4 hours ago THESE PEOPLE ARE A COMPLETE SCAM. KEEP YOUR MONEY AND STAY CLEAR. THEY ARE LIARS, RUDE AND UNPROFESSIONAL!!!! I HAD TO GIVE 1 STAR JUST SO THAT I COULD POST. THEY DESERVE NO STARS AND NOT A DIME OF ANYONES MONEY!!!!! We were told our tv's would be dismounted from the wall and reassembled, which didn't happen! We were told that we didn't have to remove anything from the dresser drawers and everything would be wrapped, which didn't happen! They lied about how many items could fit in the wardrobe boxes. They were hired for a 2 house move and the owner sent his 19yr old son and 2 other little boys. They had full knowledge with an itemized list of everything that was in both homes. this was a well calculated plan so that they could get more money out of us. we were quoted a price for 6 hrs, which was agreed upon by both parties. But because of how INEFFICIENT, LACK OF MOVING KNOWLEDGE AND UNPROFESSIONALISM, the little boys TOOK NEARLY 13 HOURS!!!! OUR TV WAS DROPPED AND SHATTERED!! A HEADBOARD WAS BROKEN TO PIECES!! THEY SCRATCHED UP OUR FRESHLY PAINTED WALLS ALL THE WAY FROM THE BOTTOM OF THE STAIRS TO THE TOP!! they didn't have enough equipment and supplies to wrap our furniture, glass, and mirrors. the 19yr "manager" insisted that we stop with the move and unload to fit the rest of our furniture and so that they could unwrap to use those blankets they had. when they came back with the 2nd load after THEY LEFT OUR ENTERTAINMENT CENTER BECAUSE THEY COULDN'T LEFT IT TO GET OUT, they had the audacity to demand an additional $315. when we refused the money he proceeded to close the truck and tried to drive off with our furniture. THE POLICE WERE CALLED AND AFTER THE OWNER WAS THREATENED WITH THEFT, THAT'S WHEN THEY UNLOADED OUR FURNITURE ON THE SIDEWALK!! THIS IS THE ABSOLUTE WORST MOVING EXPERIENCE I'VE EVER HAD. DO NOT HIRE THESE PEOPLE. DO YOUR RESEARCH AND KEEP SCROLLING AND GIVE YOUR MONEY TO REAL PROFESSIONAL MOVING COMPANY!!!! AGAIN I HAD TO GIVE 1 STAR JUST SO THAT I COULD POST. I had a great experience with the guys who showed up to complete my job. The neighborhood transformer blew out right when they arrived, but they didn't miss a beat. This company is a total FRAUD! Do not waste your money if you want to have ACTUAL moving professionals come out to move your things. We answered an ad on Craigslist for movers. We needed them the next day. I paid a deposit via PayPal. All of the communications with Shields Movers was done via text. The scope of job was to move our belongings into a moving van. We had 3 pieces of very heavy furniture but other than that just a lot of boxes and light things. When the movers showed up, they were two younger kids. Neither was a professional mover. One had move some things before and the other One, she had NEVER moved anything before. They didn't even know how to put on those moving shoulder strap harness. While we were talking during the move, we learned that they also answered an ad for people looking to make money. They did not work for the company nor were they independent contractors. There is no way they were fully insured. They also told us they were told NOT to say anything to the people who requested the service that they also answered an ad!!! The kids worked hard for their money and were very nice but. Not at all their fault the situation was a total FRAUD. I would stay very very clear of this company. They are 3rd party for people needing services and people who want to make money. Not at all how they present themselves or what was told was the situation. **in response to the owner. I'd like to know which of the things I described above you think are not true. Each and everything happened as mentioned above. If those people worked for you, then why would they tell us they were visiting their mother in Lancaster and that they live in Florida. We were under the impression we were getting qualified professional movers. Not two young 20 somethings who had to be shown how to use a moving harness.

Would have given 5 stars because the moving team was very helpful a friendly with our move. But the time it took was much longer than I was quoted and so we had to ALOT more than we planned to pay. And there was an extra fee added on to my final bill for $70 or so that I didn't understand when I had to supply a lot of the tools the movers used. I would recommend them again but definitely be careful of the time you get quoted vs the actual time you have to pay because mine doubled.

So so so great! Can’t recommend Shields Movers more!! We moved from the county to the city and had Shields Movers take all of our bulk furniture items we couldn’t move. They were able to get all of our pieces into our townhome with TIGHT doors. Only one piece didn’t go upstairs (queen box spring) but it wasn’t a big deal at all. They were super friendly, efficient, and so helpful!! They came equipped with tons of packing materials and tools, and were able to take our stuff extremely quickly. Price came in under what was quoted! And they were able to fit us in last minute. I called on Thursday and they moved us Saturday morning. We’re beyond happy with our choice and will use them again. They also donate meals to kids in need which is another awesome benefit! Thanks guys!

Movers arrived late. The only professional person I dealt with was Chris, the other two were rude. During the move a 100+ year old bookcase (a family heirloom) was damaged. The truck they brought was too small and the cargo door looked like it had been replaced with an old wooden shed door. I'll be using a different company next time.

My expectations were not met. 1) I requested a 26 ft truck for 2 br move and noted all items large and number of boxes that needed to be moved. They show up with a 15 ft truck that still had furniture in it. They were also aware that my travel was a 28 mile trip. Which meant I was left with no choice to do a double trip! Totally unexpected when I was not notified of the smaller truck and expected to pay the double moving fee. The move that could have taken 5 took 8 plus hours. 3) Many of my items were damage due to the cramming that was done of the furniture into this tiny truck. I asked for management to call me and no one ever did.

They moved ALL of our items (including king size bed, 7pc sectional couch, washer/dryer, huge dresser with mirror, crib) and their price was LESS than half of what the other guys charge. Don't think twice about these guys; if you're looking for a moving company who cares and won't rip you off, Shields is the way to go. We had tons of last minute requests and they accommodated without question. They even supplied junk removal for us which was helpful! Very reliable, they gave us a time they would load up and they were right on time. They even provided GPS location when they were headed to our new house to drop the items off. This rating is not for the men who did the actual moving of our 3 bedroom house, though it did take over 12 hours and cause damage to several pieces of furniture, the new flooring and fresh paint in multiple places, and somehow broke the arm off the storm door. This rating is in reference to the response I received from the individual who I spoke with on the phone when I called about the damages done to our property. I believe that it was the owner who answered the phone. The first time I called, I was told that he would talk with his workers, figure out what happened and get back to me. So I waited. About a month later, I called him back. He assured me that he wasn't trying to dodge my calls and wanted to have his employee on the phone for a group conversation. Once all 3 of us are on the phone, I was asked to speak of the damages that occurred during the move. I told him of the damages to the floor, walls, and furniture. When I was done, I said 'thats pretty much it'. I didn't think it necessary to comment on the broken plastic container, or the torn and squished boxes, or even the storm door. When asked what else was 'it', I told him the rest of the damages. He then interrupted me, became rude, told me that I was being short and nasty to him. He then said that he' was done talking with me' and hung up on me. Buyer beware, this business is not concerned with customer satisfaction.

I booked through Shields for a small move in New Orleans, LA. The online correspondence was timely and polite, and I spoke with someone over the phone to confirm the time and date of my move. I paid a $75 down payment via Venmo, and was told that this payment would be deducted from my $275 total moving fee. The company that showed up to move my belongings was not Shields, but a local company through which Shields had subcontracted; they responded to a Craigslist add posted by Shields to execute a move for $200 cash. I have spoken to a other people in my area, and apparently this is how Shields regularly conducts business in New Orleans. The subcontracting company did a wonderful job (I wrote them a favorable review on their page), but I think Shields should be transparent about their business model. It seems pretty clear that the intent is to broker New Orleans bookings and collect money off the top via the mandatory $75 down payment. I wouldn't go as far as to call it a 'scam', but there is a lot of potential for a customer to get scammed, if the subcontracted company isn't legit. If you are in New Orleans, I would not recommend booking through Shields. Just book directly with a local mover, since they will ultimately provide the service.

Just to let you know the move went very smoothly. Both Herlando and Mike were very efficient, courteous and professional about time and carefully moving items. As a student from out of state, who has moved several times, I am glad to have found your company and the gentlemen handling business on the South Carolina side. I also learned the more organized I am about everything packed and sealed before the movers get here, the shorter time it takes for them to move things out. In the end saves me money.

This moving company is a scam! I paid my deposit for 2 movers to come for 2 hours to come unload a moving Uhaul from 2-4pm at our new home. Several times between 2 and 2:30, I call and try to get in touch with someone as to where they are? They finally respond saying they’re running late and will be 2 hours late. Then they say they didn’t know about this job and will actually be there by 5. At 5:10pm they finally show up. One mover was actually wearing Nike slip on sandals. By the time they actually got there, we had already unloaded half the truck because it needed to be back and was already late. The lazy movers proceeded to use the little furniture dolly we rented to attempt to roll in a massive armoire in which they damaged the top of the wood. They slid our boxes along the floor instead of walking them in. They just put boxes wherever even after directed of which room to place them in. Icing on the cake, they slid our sectional couch across the living room resulting in massive scratches. When contacting who they stated was in charge, they said to pay the movers and send photos of the scratches. I sent the photos immediately and the movers also took photos, after staying “they didn’t scratch anything”. Days later, I contact “Shields” again asking if there is going to be any reimbursement for the floors, he said “That nick was so small on the floor I could barely even see it within the picture, what you're going to have to do is send us a estimated cost of it and connect me to the repair person as well”. When I responded asking if he got the 7 pictures and videos of the floor, they didn’t bother with responding. Use your money on a more professional moving service. Despite being licensed, bonded, and insured, they are lazy, unrealizable, untimely, and not people of their work. We now have so many damages and repairs instead of just enjoying our new home. Beware!
