Wonderful Experience. This has been my 4th military move and by far the best. The crew was courteous and extremely professional. Well versed with maneuvering furniture to not hit a wall or damage furniture. Unpacked everything requested and was more than happy to do it. Arrived earlier than expected by almost an hour and was done with enough time for me to still enjoy some of my day. Home office called while the movers were there to check on progress and my satisfaction which was a nice touch. Will be requesting them for my next military move and highly recommend for moving in general.

This is an indirect review. We had not hired them, but they ended up costing us an additional $600 for our own move by their arrogant and uncaring approach. They were rude and nasty. They insulted my wife, insulted me, refused to cooperate with the building management or to pay attention to others moving on the same day. If I had a choice in movers I would give these guys a very wide margin and avoid having anything to do with them. My sense is that they've gotten well-off from moving military families and have decided that puts them above common decency and concern for others. Observing how they interacted with others on the move-in day, I'd basically call them under-educated trash that takes out their own mean spirit as a form of torture on anyone else. They enjoyed watching us lose money while they crowed about how great they were. As they left they even wanted us to put a negative review into their competitor's bin (Covan), having fully realized what bullies they were to everyone they encountered at the building. Don't give them any business if you can manage it. This type of behavior shouldn't be rewarded or enabled.

Seriously? Moving guy from this company block the entire narrow street in DC to do their business at 9:00 am in the morning. (No sign, no excuse but rude manner of speech) Most cars should have to find other way or wait there for a long time. I asked moving guy to move his truck but he denied because he cannot move out now; however, the U.S law never allow your company truck get into small street to earn some profits with the cost of other people's time. Do your business with common sense and little manner. I do not know how this kind of rude company get higher stars as other reviewers mentioned already. I also report this issue to every government sectors related to commercial trucks and also leave the review on private websites as well. Shame!

Joe Mohalland Moving company are the best. Being a military family, our house hold goods are our home. When given a choice this is the only company that I trust with everything that we own. This is our 4th time calling on them and once again they have been fantastic at every level. This move has been tricky because all of our belongings had to be professionally remediated before they were packed and then each box had to be loaded to the truck immediately. Only downside was they did not show up with enough boxes, and I found some items (paintings placed in a corner out of sight, a chopstick that had dropped on the way out to the truck) that were missed.

Now I see why it was so quick, my stuff was just thrown into random boxes with no rhyme or reason.. I’m a corporate facilities specialist, so I deal with movers on a weekly basis and am well versed in what should and shouldn’t be done. To say the movers and back office staff went above and beyond is not doing them justice. From the initial estimate to the actual move to days afterwards the JM team went out of their way to ensure my move went smoothly and as anticipated. The back office team (Shelly!) went out of her way to keep me updated each step of my move, as well as calling me a few days afterward to esure I was settling in fine, no damage was discovered while unpacking. The movers JM contracted with (Mayflower) were professional, courteous and took extra precautions with both my old home and new home to ensure there were no dings nor dents to my home during the move. I just wanted to write you to let you know what a wonderful job that your company has done on my house. It's hard to believe that it's the same house. Everyone has been very professional from you all the way down to the installers. Even when they started on my house and found all the rotten wood I was very pleased with the price I was charged to repair and replace the bad wood. The installers cleaned up after themselves everyday and never left a mess. The quality of the siding was an A plus and I can already see a difference in how often my AC unit comes on and cuts off. I'm looking forward to lower electric bills. The money I spent was well worth the savings I'm going to be getting over the years, not to mention never having to paint ever again. For the packout, there were not any issues. Crew was friendly and the company called me to make sure everything was going well a couple times. For the moveout, there were some issues with the crew. Dropped my dressing table as it was brought down the stairs. Argued about dolly use inside/outside the house which became a bit uncomfortable for me. Scuff the walls in the upstairs hallway and stairwell. One of these would have been fine, but in compilation, they have to lose a star.

Just Be Yourself

This service was used as part of a long distance United Van Lines move between AZ and VA. They are a contractor to United. Between1990 and 2005 I had used United Van Lines twice with good results. United Van Lines today has become a moving contractor and is not the same company it was 10-25 years ago. Today they are a series of complex shell corporations that only have an administrative staff and all physical moving, storage, and transportation services are contracted out. The contractors do not have the same work ethic or commitment to quality as past employee staff, not even close. United picks the contractors, but does not tell you who. United Van LInes only wants to make a buck now on their former reputation and have no liability for all "real" moving because services are contracted out. Do not be fooled into believing it is the same big company that has it's reputation to maintain and cares about it's customers. I found that out the hard way. Use this contracted service if you want the following: * Unprofessional, rude, low quality moving service priced at high quality professional service * Movers rescheduling several times, movers showing up hours late with no communication or respect of your time or commitments * Movers asking for multiple loooong breaks on your paid time for bathroom, smokes, calls * Movers disassemble, but unable to reassemble items at delivery, so you have to do it * Movers throwing and leaving trash in your home, yard, driveway * Movers coming unbathed, dirty, and foul smelling leaving a stench in your home * Movers lying and being disrespectful to you, your family, neighborhood, and your home * Movers complaining about everything while hinting for a tip regardless of bad service * Movers trying to hide your items on the truck so they can keep them * Movers arguing over obvious missing, damaged, or broken items * Hearing false excuses and how it was the other guys who damaged or lost your items * Movers trying to lie to and fool you into signing a form saying all was delivered perfectly and you are totally satisfied * Spending your time documenting, estimating, and trying to get reimbursed for damages only to be denied or ignored * Having to pay more than the final moving quote because there were "surprise" charges * Having to clean up after the movers destroy your home * Having to arrange disposal or repair of damaged items out of pocket despite full insurance * Having to search for and replace damaged items out of pocket * Having to spend your time writing reviews as your only form of justice My advice in general for relocations is to move items in a rental cargo van or box truck yourself. Tow the car on trailer. Discard, sell, or donate all bulky and heavy items that do not fit. Hire local realtor recommended labor to load and unload on each end. Purchase new items or used furniture items at destination with free delivery. Easier and better experience that costs about the same or less than full service movers. This does not apply to all situations, price it out, and if it does apply save yourself some grief. Life is too short.

These guys were efficient, hard working, and professional. We were very impressed by their work ethic - they really hustled for hours on end. The packing, inventory, move out and loading all went smoothly. The crews on both days were friendly and did great work. They asked questions if there was any confusion and handled all of our requests. The only hiccup was when a violent thunderstorm passed through during loading. I warned the crew that it was coming but they weren’t as responsive as they should’ve been to get the stuff either into the house or onto the truck. When it hit they all had to scramble in the rain - and they ended up having to repack a bunch of items that got wet. It could’ve been avoided if they’d just scrambled before the storm arrived. With that exception, overall we were very pleased with the service throughout, and highly recommend.

If there was an option for 0 stars, that would be what I’d give. If you get assigned this company for a military move. ASK FOR A DIFFERENT ONE. The three men who paked us out, stole about $2000 worth of stuff from us. One that they weren’t smart on was my husband leather Cowboys Jacket he revived as a gift from his mother for Christmas only a year sho. When they saw it in the closet, they cheer about it and praised how nice it was. It didn’t show up to our new destination. They didn’t care about the way they handed our goods. Threw things around. Our crib, we have only had for less than two years is broken, and now unusable for my 6 month old to use. I’m so very disappointed and hurt that we lost so much, and that the men from this company didn’t care for the way they handled our goods.

We had a great experience with Joe Moholland moving. We had 4.5 crates to unload, which was around 160 boxes in total. The 3 gentleman unloaded the boxes in record time and most importantly took great care with everything. Carpet was put down over our floors. We were a military move. Thought they were great until I noticed stuff broken and gone and had other people's stuff. Horrible experience and I will never ever advice anyone to ever use them!!!!! Pictures missing, bedding missing, glass not packed correctly and broken...... HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE But maybe if they gave their workers more time to pack and unload, rather than trying to make a dollar and get as many done as possible, it would be done correctly. Dave asked me, "do you have your personal belongings? (Purse, keys, ect.)" And I said yes but I accidentally had put down my wallet somewhere and it was packed up in the boxes. I didn't realize this until later that evening and the following morning I went to the packing facility and spoke with Dave and his manager. Dave remembered about where my wallet was packed and was able to retrieve it within 30 minutes. I am so thankful that they were so kind and willing to work with me even though I made a mistake! I hired this company after being ripped off by a company in Florida. My agent promised me the world and never delivered. I was told that my belongings would be the only ones on the truck. FALSE I was told my move in date would be honored. FALSE I was told my representative Dan would be there to answer all my questions. NEVER HEARD FROM HIM AFTER THE FIRST MEETING NOW I am a day away from the incorrect delivery date and Im being told that I must pay an additional $1100 to store my items. I tried to give them the benefit of the doubt but after several weeks and no communication I have decided to go ahead and post my review. This is our 8th military move and by far our worst. The packers were great but loading day was a disaster. The crew showed up on time but was mostly a crew of elderly men who bickered with one another and struggled with loading the house in the sweltering heat. Needless to say they were there until 11pm. It started pouring down rain after about 6 so the big truck left (taking two guys with it) and left a moving truck and the 3 oldest guys left to try to finish. Everything that went on that truck plus one crate that was on the big truck is now missing. I have tried calling, emailing, and even FB messaged and have gotten no response. Now we get to try to figure out what’s gone and start the painful claim process which I’m sure will go well. Moving every year is hard enough without the moving company making off with a quarter of your stuff.

Our experience was exactly what we hoped for: Our belongings were treated respectfully and arrived at our new home exactly when promised. Everyone from Diane, who came to our house to provide the estimate, (as opposed to the phone guesstimates that most companies were offering,) to Alex the driver and the locally hired loading/unloading crews were friendly and professional. Moving 1300 miles or 13 blocks is extremely stressful and the folks at Moholland helped alleviate some of that stress.

We did however, have a problem with the team that packed us out 4 years ago. From the estimating, through to delivery and unloading, my experience with all resources were excellent! The individuals that packed and loaded me were great. Mario was polite, professional and did a great job. I'd happily hire him again any time. Joe Mulholland Moving itself was terrible to work with. They lied to me repeatedly during the moving process. Mike, the dispatch manager, in particular shamelessly lied on several occasions. They sent fewer than necessary people to carry out the move than it required and arrived late every day because they'd over committed to other jobs. On my delivery day, they literally sent one guy to unload my 2500 Sq ft house worth of furniture. Help me out, is it a full service move if I have to do the heavy lifting? I've been in the military for 12 years and 6 moves... This was by far the least scrupulous company I've dealt with so far. Would not reccomend JMM to anybody.

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. This was our 9th move and without a doubt the worst one by far. *They were using one of our personal area rugs at the door instead of their own equipment. *While they were carrying the elliptical exercise machine down the stairs of the front porch, we heard it crack and then saw the damage. *They did not have a ramp to get stuff up on the truck, so they had to lift it up to the person in the truck. *At one point, one of our mattresses came flying down the stairs *The king pillow top mattress was left on its side and was bending in for an unacceptable amount of time. *Cigarette butts were left all over the front yard. *They left a lot of trash behind. *Many things, including high value items went on the truck without any wrapping. *Furniture was not wrapped properly and corners of furniture were left unprotected. *When we left, we noticed glass all over the street and driveway. I'm sure it is from our glass top patio table. No one had the decency or respect to mention it or clean up the mess. *Damage was done to the wood floors and walls. *Items were handled excessively rough. *The dolly was being used to carry large stuff down the front porch steps by one person, but the person didn't have control over it. So stuff would fall from one side to the other side and hit the stairs and ground. *There were boxes in the garage that they were instructed not to take and we caught them looking in them. *They had stuff leaned up against other stuff outside and it wasn't balanced properly and things came crashing to the ground. That happened several times. *A queen mattress was loaded in the truck without a bag. *The king pillow top mattress was brought down stairs, sat on its side longer, wrapped in pads on one side to take outside, once it was outside, the pads were removed, the mattress was touching the ground and was loaded in the dirty truck with nothing around it. Such a huge disappointment. Hope this review was able to save you a huge headache.

The office staff was terrible to deal with and after I emailed the primary contractor about my miserable pcs experience with them they would only call my wife. Also I'm still missing a box of glass dolphins that my wife has been collecting for years. Have not heard anything about it since October!

This makes a world of difference with me; it can make or break the whole deal - regardless of the cost. They all got through it - packed and moved - as scheduled. Its very unfortunate that I must leave such a poor review but all other options have been exhausted at this point. This company came to move my belongings as I was out processing the military back in march of this year. After fighting with the military moving office and filing claims and getting no response from joe moholland either this is my last resort. To start off 3 gentlemen came to move my belongings earlier of this year and were very professional. I offered these men beers which they gladly accepted and even helped them myself with carrying down all my belongings 4 floors to their truck. So I wont lie the men were very efficient and quick with the packing. They did not damage the property and they were very nice and professional. They moved all my things in a timely manner and left on a good note. Here comes the bad... So after only a little over a week my goods were delivered to my new address. I was not able to be there for the delivery so my mother handled it on my behalf. She gave them a tip and everything seemed fine. Upon my arrival back home and after sorting through my items I noticed quite a few things missing. Of the items I was missing a full box of kitchenware, a full box of books with years worth of year books inside, 20 lb. weights which were specifically loaded last onto the truck because I remember. There was also a box with a catalytic converter inside which I now need for inspection. I filed claims with the military tmo office and was denied. I consistently called the moving company who told me they would contact the drivers of the vehicle and ask about the belongings. They gave me the run around multiple times said they could not locate the drivers or get ahold of the drivers? how can you not get ahold of your own drivers? Essentially the lady upstairs who kept taking my calls just told me to file a claim and they would let me know if anything comes about the missing items. I never heard back and even have proof from the inventory list that they packed and wrote books on the sheet. This company showed ZERO sympathy and didn't try to help me in any way. STAY AWAY from this company and be sure to hire someone else. I thought by helping out offering a drink I would get taken care of but I only got screwed. STAY AWAY from these guys!!!

A horrible experience during a military move. Joe Moholland Moving tried to pack our 3,600 square foot house with 14,000 pounds of household goods in one day with just three people. Unsurprisingly, the packers did not finish in one day so they were packing as the truck was being loaded the next day. We also noticed that many of the boxes appeared to be over-packed and poorly taped. The movers brought two U-Haul trucks to move our stuff. As the movers were trying to squeeze everything onto the last truck, they started disassembling furniture in my driveway and front lawn. Finally they realized everything wouldn't fit in the U-Haul trucks but the lead guy had a plan. He backed his personal pickup truck into the driveway and loaded our remaining household goods into it. I've never seen this before and when I told folks about it at work the next day it was quite the topic of conversation. We have a pool going whether I will ever again see any of the stuff loaded into his truck. The movers were at my house until 9 PM loading the moving trucks, which was way too late because I have young children who were trying to sleep. Joe Moholland Moving is totally unprofessional and I do not recommend them. We are expecting many damaged or missing items on the back end of our move.

Macy willams the crew leader was disappointing reevaluate Your crew staff she was rushing and didn’t not care about the fireplace that got lost in transit ! The worst moving company we have ever dealt with. If there was an option for 0 stars I would have selected that. My husband and I had a military move. Everything was poorly packed. Our expensive furniture was simply wrapped in brown paper causing it to sustain a great deal of damages. We had over 7,000 worth of furniture damage. My husband's military awards and memorabilia all damaged. Everything was just poorly done. I was surprised the military even recommended them.Things got even worst when they tried to move our belongings into our new home. Our newly built week old home sustained drywall damaged, hardwood floors were damaged badly dinged and scratched, front door, railings and stairwell was badly damaged. Save yourself the suffering and deal with a different company.

Stay away from this moving company, and Mayflower Moving too. Let me start by noting that in the Washington, DC metro area there were many complaints of fraud and scams in the local home moving industry. To avoid these scammers my wife and I used an online registry to request a move from Springfield, Virginia to Dorado, Puerto Rico in May 2011 by the Mayflower Moving Company. Mayflower sent a local mover, Joe Mulholland Moving who told us they were the local reps for Mayflower. The Joe Mulholland Moving estimator gave us a quote of $14,000 for a !4,000 pound move (this quote was higher than other alternatives, but I thought it was worth using Mayflower for the peace of mind). The estimator also advised us to get rid of anything we could live without so as to reduce the cost of the move--he claimed anything over the 14,000 pounds would be billed before the delivery, and anything under would be refunded after. My wife and I evaluated every item we owned and decided to donate, give away, sell, or discard a large portion of the belongings we'd accumulated over 30 years in northern Virginia. When the move arrived in Puerto Rico the delivery driver (Crowley Freight) told us the total weight of the move was just over 10,000 pounds. We contacted Joe Mulholland Moving to request our refund but after 18 months and over 40 phone calls or emails we had not received our refund. They eventually just stooped answering our calls or returning our emails. We became so frustrated with Joe Mulholland Moving we decided to contact Mayflower directly to see if they could help. After about a year of exchanging emails with Mayflower they informed us there was nothing they could do because, to quote their most recent email: "As an agent for Mayflower Transit, Joe Moholland Moving represents Mayflower in interstate moving, however, with regard to international moving, (to Puerto Rico in your case), our agents can use any licensed forwarder to arrange transportation. Regrettably, they chose not to use our services to handle your move, therefore, we cannot help in this situation. After contacting Joe Moholland Moving on your behalf, John Grimsley, Jr. replied that he believed the forwarding company was settling this with you." I felt this was a cop-out because 1) when I contacted Mayflower I specifically stated the move was to Puerto Rico and 2) I didn't have a formal contract with the "forwarding company". I don't expect to get a refund, but I hope my experience can help other families moving in or out of the Washington, DC metro area to avoid using these scammers. Or atleast, to go into a move knowing that the DC area moving company scams are unavoidable. Please don't make the mistake of trying to reduce the load to save money--the only money that was saved in this move was pocketed by the Joe Moholland Moving company on their freight forwarding costs at the expense of the items we gave up to lighten the load .

Small thing but I found it offensive. I needed to know if a certain item (a bicycle) would fit into the official US Government size shipping carton. Moholland refused to bring a box to check. The person who did the initial evaluation told me "They don't allow me to do that," and that was confirmed via e-mail with my point of contact. I had to contact another State Dept employee who had recently moved, go to her apartment and borrow a box to verify. That one issue is why I took off a star. Come on. It was a reasonable request. They can give dimensions but a bicycle is a difficult thing to measure (it fit!).

Worst packers and movers I've ever had out of 7 moves (4 military, of which this was one) I'm normally pretty lenient and easy going because these are tough jobs but the packers were rude and had no regard for packing properly. I found loose papers (important and/or sentimental) out of folders and wrapped/crumbled with the packing paper so who knows what I might have tossed already. They packed open food/spices that spilled. Multiple wardrobe boxes packed improperly so that all the clothes were at the bottom crumpled and loose. Even the delivery movers at my destination commented multiple times how badly my stuff was packed and treated. The movers had no regard for my house that I recently renovated myself. My new wood stairs/railings had deep scratches and dings in multiple areas. My original hardwood floor has scratches all over the living room. Their conversation was inappropriate and unprofessional. I don't care if guys want to cut it up and BS but this was explicit and descriptive details of women and situations that shouldn't be talked about in front of customers. My mother in law had to help be at the house for a short time while we had a family emergency and she was less than impressed by what she also heard. One good thing, I applaud them for getting my dresser down the tight stairs. But I wish they padded/wrapped the rails and post that got damaged in the process! Oh well. If you have a choice, avoid this company.

Stay away from these people, or at least make sure you take before pictures of all your stuff before you let them touch it. They handled my military move, picked up my stuff on May 19th. After numerous delays finally delivered my stuff on the 12th of June. Numerous items were broken which they refused to fully reimburse me for. The worst part of the ordeal was that they shipped my 1 year old $4,000 sterns and foster bed standing up, completely voiding the warranty and damaging the coils on one side that is now completely collapsed. After a sham inspection they denied my claim saying that the damage was the result of use, complete and utter bullS***. So now I'm stuck with a voided warranty on a bed that is now almost half collapsed, and a worthless company that won't take responsibility. My only option is to go to small claims court. Learn from my drama, don't trust this company.

Overall it was a good experience. There were a few frustrations, like we were told that no one would take things off the walls, however when people started packing they removed several things we didn't want packed. We also had difficulty scheduling the packing day for one day, as they insisted on 2 days, however almost packed the entire house in one day. The 2nd pack day was very inefficient and the person missed several cabinets of things. Loading the truck was very good and efficient.
