Jackie Kulick the relocation Coordinator is really the person who gave me the peace and reassurance I needed to know everything was going to be okay, and it was. Mr. Neal came to my house November 9th 2017, and after he went through my house, he told me he would email me a write up/contract in 1-2 days. Well, after not hearing from him for 7 days, I decided to email him on November 16th. To this day, I haven't heard a word from him. We were doing a local move and needed to set something up asap. My husband and I are so disappointed with this company. I highly recommend using another company.

Our family's move back to the Washington area was complicated this time by the fact that it was unexpected and I departed my overseas diplomatic assignment before my family members, who remained at post until school ended. The Able team was highly responsive and helpful. Because we had to move in to a residence smaller than our own home, we had to access our storage at their warehouse and pull out certain items and have them delivered. The access process was especially smooth and efficient. The furniture assembly was also terrific. Apart from some minor damage, the service was five stars!

Although it was not a far move, it was still a big job given everything we were moving from our former house to the new one. There was a 5 man crew who did a great job at setup of getting the floors and walls covered, and carefully wrapped all furniture. Able was one of two firms referred to us by our real estate agents. Able's estimator exuded greater experience, and provided more insight and information on the mechanics of the move than did the one from the other firm. Able's estimate arrived within hours. It was comparable, maybe a bit higher, to the other, which didn't arrive for a couple of days. But the estimator had instilled confidence in Able's ability to handle all aspects of the move, which is a two-step process. And I liked the fact the firm is locally owned and operated, and takes care of its employees. I have so far not been disappointed. Moving the first batch of possessions to our other house and to storage went quickly and easily. The crew was terrific -- professional, almost overly polite, arrived early, was careful with our possessions, and dealt easily with any potential snafu. We have moved plenty over the years. This likely is our last one. Thank goodness, it's in good hands. Couldn't be more pleased.

Although it was a small move, (4 staff, moving 3 blocks away) nothing is ever easy in downtown DC...especially because they had to move us during rush hour due to our building restrictions. Evan and Kevin in the office were super responsive and friendly. I sold my 3-story townhouse and contracted with Able for the move out and storage. I was amazed that the gents got everything out without so much as a nick on a wall. They were very helpful in packing some odd shaped items. Add to that their professionalism and genuine courtesy. Three months later, it was time to move into the new house. Delivery was today scheduled for arrival between 8-10 AM. A crew of 5 drove up shortly after 8 AM and had everything unloaded, assembled and cleaned up by 11 AM. This was a 3-bedroom move! Again, a fantastic crew! This is the first move, and I've had many over the years, where NOTHING was damaged, not even a dish. I highly recommend Able Moving.

The teams were flexible as we engaged them on our needs, and nothing about the move went awry. I have used Able Moving and Storage twice in the past two years. The first time was in 2017 and was a move-out of a town home and all belongings were placed in a outdoor storage facility. The movers were prompt and courteous. They wrapped all of our belongings in padded paper and made sure items in boxes were secure. All of our floors were protected either using floor mats or plastic. The second move was in July 2018 and all of our belongings were moved from the outdoor storage facility (no connection to Able) to a single family home. The crew was again prompt and courteous and arrived early. Due to some unforeseen circumstances a large amount of our items were damaged by water. The crew was extremely patient and allowed me to take pictures of the water damaged items before placing them on the truck. They also waited for the storage facility manager to arrive on site so I could file a claim with our insurance company. Upon arriving at our home, they again made sure all of our floors were covered and had the truck unloaded in a very timely fashion. They took extra care not to scratch or damage any walls since the house had just been painted. I highly recommend Able for your moving needs. All of the staff is extremely pleasant to interact with and responds to questions in a timely manner. Their prices are also reasonable and fair.

I was incredibly pleased with my experience with Able moving in March 2019. Carlos and Richard were assigned to my move and they were timely, knowledgeable, and efficient. I am just a single person who is 5'1" and there is no way I could move on my own. Not only did they help me move everything out of a basement apartment which low ceilings and odd stair placement, but they did so in the pouring rain -- they brought water proof blankets for all of the furniture and were careful that nothing got wet. they also put down boxes to the entrance way to make sure we didn't track any dirt in. I kept asking to help then and they kept telling me to sit back and relax and that they had it covered. The estimate was accurate and this fell right in the middle. They made the move SO easy and I would not hesitate to use them again.

This company has moved me several times but they aren't the company that they used to be. My recent move was the worst. Our estimate was significantly different than the actual cost. Our credit cards were charged without authorization. Everything we owned was damaged. Nothing was wrapped or covered properly. They charged 18 hours for a move that a previous Able Moving and Storage team and JK Moving did in 5 hours. They requested 4 storage units when 2 units would have provided sufficient space. They smoked while carrying items which left ash burns on wood and upholstery. They played on the dollies, dropped and kicked boxes. They stacked heavy items, even lawn equipment, on top of fragile boxes and items. PLUS we were verbally attacked by the manager who also threatened to declare our items abandoned and refuse delivery if we did not pay in full in cash within 45 minutes even though the contract states payment is due at delivery. AND the moving team sexually harassed me based on my pregnancy and intentionally and recklessly endangered my high risk pregnancy. Inappropriate comments were overheard regarding my appearance and lack of physical ability to move quickly. The team laughed as they caused me to continuously get up and down and walk. They mocked and ridiculed my walking. Team members worked together to call me back and forth between the units, causing the most walking possible. I personally expressed to the team that I was a high-risk pregnancy and such actions posed a great risk to me and my baby. I showed Able Moving and Storage team members the excessive swelling developing in my legs, feet, and ankles. The EZ Storage management also addressed the team after witnessing me rush to the bathroom bleeding. The team also spoke directly to me in a rude, unprofessional, and offensive manner. They ignored my health warnings as well as my requests for the treatment and handling of my items. They made comments while laughing that my concerns were just my hormones. As I attempted to photograph damaged items and boxes, the team would run from me and were overheard telling each other to not allow me the opportunity to take photographs. The team members got irritated and defensive as I insisted on inspecting items that appeared damaged and told me that they could show me what real damage looks like. We finally settled the physical property damage claim almost 8 months after our items were delivered. We also filed a claim with Able Moving and Storage Customer Service Manager for the actions of the Able Moving and Storage team and management. The customer service manager claimed to be so upset by our situation that she cried and could not sleep. After reviewing all documentation and speaking to witnesses, the customer service manager admitted that Able Moving and Storage made many mistakes and that we did not have a good move and offered an apology. The customer service manager informed us that she was working on an additional settlement amount for this claim and even provided written confirmation that the settlement reached with the insurance company for physical property damage did not include this additional claim. However, as soon as the check from the insurance company was cashed, the customer service manager stopped returned my calls and we were contacted by an attorney that stated cashing the checks from the insurance company constituted final settlement of all claims.

Not only did they take great care with every item as they loaded us in Virginia, but they showed the same concern and care in the frigid cold as they unloaded. Shoukd I start with the fraudulent charges, the missing truck, or the broken family heirloom? I'm not sure if their estimator was just too inexperienced to accurately asses the time it would take to move us, or if the fact that the main truck disappeared for 2-3 hours (he was stuck in a parking lot??) caused them to miss their window of when they would finish by 2-3 hours (coincidence)? Then to find they double charged me, on two different dates. And, of course, the one thing, the only thing, I specifically mentioned to both the estimator and the crew lead was an antique heirloom mirror that has hung in both my grandmother and great grandmother's house, they broke taking it off the wall. We should have used Town and Country.

I have moved way to many times and used many different moving companies. Able blows them all out of the water. I received 3 or 4 quotes for my most recent move and all were all over the place from low to "I am just moving 30 miles and you want how much?". Derreck B. came in to do in house estimate and was very knowledgeable and honest. He estimated higher amount of weight for our home then other companies, but the pricing was comparable to what other companies were quoting for less. I went over our needs and Able was able to exceed all of those and then some. There packing crew, loaders and foreman were amazing. The packed the last bit of stuff we had and took care of every piece of furniture like it was a museum piece. We hope to never move again but if we do we will be using Able for sure. Once final note, the final cost of the move came in $1100 cheaper then what they quoted and if I used the other guys I would have had to pay more since they under estimated our home weight by over 1000 lbs. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!! I concur with Cynthia Leonard and Sara Devine’s comments. In addition to their experiences, ABLE now uses subcontractor movers (not even their own hires). Not one mover on my team of 3 could speak any English beyond a few basic words. This caused major problems as most items I did not want my belongings endlessly wrapped because this doubles the time (and thus cost) of the move. Since they didn’t understand English, everything was endlessly wrapped, then blanketed, and then taped up over and over (even though I had already done the packing, wrapping, and taping to my satisfaction myself). So items I didn’t care about were vastly overprotected at a huge cost to me. The wrapping and unwrapping of everything I’d estimate added 2-3 hrs to the move at $160/hr. I had only one item I really cared about, a large delicate heirloom sculpture piece that couldn’t be wrapped due to the shape, so I tried to ask that 2 of them gently take it out by lifting it straight up. They nodded like they understood but no comprende, as I left the room one guy had slung it over his shoulder and banged it on the wall on the way out. I could not believe it…... To be fair, the movers did work hard. They were not lazy and did the job. So that was never an issue. The issue is they are told what to do beforehand and that is what they do, there is no real communication with the customer upon arrival to work out details, which is unacceptable. And don’t even get me started on all the overcharging by intentionally NOT including “travel time” in conversation estimates (they instead tell you there is a minimum amt of hrs for the job, but don't tell you the travel time is additional and not included in the hrs estimate), taking forever to wrap things a million times you don’t want wrapped, and then charging you $50 for the tape!?! When you question the charges and say these weren’t explained up front, they call you a liar and say everything was explained and estimated perfectly. I will never use this company again, and I hope they go out of business. I urge you all to look elsewhere, you can do much, much better than UN-able moving…..

Moving day arrived; the team showed up early and immediately went to work. The entire team moved with a purpose. There was constant movement, no resting. We completed packed out our house, they even put out two huge boxes and told us to fill them up with odds and ends and they'd put them on the truck. We then traveled to our new house some 15-20 minutes away and they unpacked everything. The estimator was great, movers out were OK and the movers in were great. Overall good experience but did have quite a few furniture pieces that were damaged. We didn’t up the insurance from the standard and the one claim we made would have costed us $50 after paying the deductible. A Perfect Move Our move date was Aug 8, 2019 and it went very smoothly from start to finish. The team of Courtney, Bob, and Stephanie handled the business end of our move while Samuel and his team of movers did physical part of the move. We recently completed an interstate move from Virginia to Indiana with Able, and I have nothing but good things to say about the move. The estimate was complete thorough and accurate. My wife and I wanted an "exclusive use" of the truck, and they accommodated that with no hassle. On load out day the crew showed up exactly on time, the truck was clean as a whistle both inside and out; the crew leader did a complete run through of everything that was moving and what was staying and then got to work; they worked very efficiently and were done in about 4 hours; they protected all the furniture very well and took care to not damage anything in the house, not even a scuff on the wall. Then two days later the truck showed up in Indiana at the right location and on time. Most of the goods were unloaded into a storage unit and the crew leader was expert at packing that storage unit so that everything fit with room to spare. The second stop was at a private home a few miles away and they unloaded a bedroom set into the house and again took great care of the furniture and the home. As for cost - they are not cheap, but the estimate was pretty much spot on, there were no hidden charges are surprises, in fact the final cost came in a few hundred dollars below the estimate and they refunded the difference right away. Everyone I dealt with was professional at all times. I have recommended Able to friends and would use them again if needed.

Let me first say that all of our things arrived within the provided arrival window and with very minimal damage to any of our things. They will return email but not necessarily phone calls in a timely manner. That being said here's my story... After a diligent search I selected Able Moving & Storage, Inc to move us from Alexandria, VA to Charleston, SC. Bob was excellent in providing us with an accurate estimate and cost of our move and offloaded our case to Stephanie, his assistant, for further interaction. Our moving truck and crew showed up within 30 minutes of the proposed time to begin loading our things onto the truck. Bob's advice was to be "completely ready" before the arrival of the movers so we had broken down furniture and packed mattresses into protective bags because we were warned we would be charged an extra fee if the movers had to take more time than allotted if we were not ready upon arrival. Our moving crew lined our carpets with runners/plastic to protect it, lined our stair railing, and lined the door frames to prevent damage. After about an hour and a half (of our 4 hour window) the movers slowed noticeably with loading the truck and would disappear for several minutes before re-emerging (we were sitting outside watching the loading process/staying out of the way). It even got to the point I sent my husband back inside to see what they were doing since it was a dramatic change in pace (without much stuff left to go on the truck). Fortunately everything was loaded within the 4 hour window - so even slowly it got done on time. Fast forward to the date/time scheduled for our truck to arrive with our things in our new home. I was called the day before (as promised) and our driver scheduled to arrive at our home at 9AM the next day. At approximately 9:30 an Able Moving truck arrives - only for us to discover these 2 men were on their way back to Virginia and stopping at our house only to assist our driver with the unloading of our things. They were surprised to discover our driver had not yet arrived so they tried to call him... and the manager... and the driver's hotel... without success. Fortunately all of the trucks have GPS so they were able to discover the location of our truck (approximately 45 minutes north of our location). After another 30+ minutes of debate/attempted contact my husband ended up driving the two men from the Florida truck to a hotel where our driver and our things were located in an attempt to wake him. An. Hour. Later... I got a text from my husband that they were finally able to wake our driver and he was on his way. So a 9AM deliver time turned into 11:30AM with extreme inconvenience of the Florida crew as well as to us. The crew from Florida was EXCELLENT. Hard working, polite, and genuinely seemed to care about providing good customer service. Our driver (the one who had to be awakened) laughingly "apologized" as he walked past me into our house. He also quit unloading boxes halfway through to pull packing tape off of the moving blankets. I have since emailed Bob this story and he said he would sent it on to an operations manager and make sure it is "properly addressed." Apparently addressing this means not calling me/contacting me at all. It has been silent from them since May 30 (our stuff was delivered on May 19). In my opinion customer service was very poor, especially in light of the fact management was contacted by the Florida crew upon arrival here when our driver was absent. I guess if they dropped off our stuff they are "through" with us regardless of the debacle with our driver. Tread carefully.

It was a steady drizzle of rain, they had a long driveway to carry the furniture up to the van, but no one complained at all. They just worked efficiently and professionally.
