I had a WONDERFUL experience with this moving company. I had a lot of boxes (about 200) and they were surprisingly able to get two huge trucks worth of my belongings into the storage unit. They were professional and hard working- not even wanting to take a break until 2 o’clock in the afternoon when they were nearly finished loading the trucks. Most notable was the care they took in wrapping and handling my items. You could definitely tell they knew what they were doing. When I move into my new house in six months, I will definitely call and specially request Jay, Marcus, Joe and Xavier. They were incredible and made what could have been a stressful day a breeze. In life, you get what you pay for. You can get your cousins to throw your things in a pickup truck

WOW!! What a pleasure to deal with this company. The owner is the person who came out and gave us our estimate. He was very friendly and flexible. The price we were quoted is exactly what we paid. During the move Dan also came by to check on the move. The moving guys were also friendly and did a great job. They made me forget I was moving with there good attitude. REVIEW 2 FROM SEPT. 2018: We sold our house, thanks in no small part to being able to move about half our furniture and stuff before putting it on the market. Move #2 was just as efficient as the first reviewed below. Scheduling was a breeze and the team arrived on time and ready to work! Back from Move 1 was Team Leader Chris (who got everyone organized, and then went to work hauling, wrapping, etc.), and Gerhard (wizard at dis-assembling and re-assembling plus takes exceptional care protecting the things we designated as special pieces, plus he has great taste in music!). New this time was Joe (serious muscle plus a really polite young man). All three of them hustled the whole time they were packing out and then in and all really cared about making sure we were satisfied, including moving and re-arranging existing items. This is a company that TRULY lives up to its name! Another five stars and highly recommend. ANOTHER five stars! Back REVIEW ONE FROM MARCH, 2018: Dan from A Friendly and Affordable Movers gave us an estimate on Monday which we found quite reasonable, plus he assured us that his people would go above and beyond what one might expect We signed the contract on the spot and the following Monday they packed us out the first half of our house in an hour and a half and everything was in our new house in NC before 3 pm. The crew was meticulous in being sure that everything slated to go made it on the truck, they hauled several items out to the curb for bulk trash pick up, AND, although they warned me several times that the huge armoire (that had to make it down a flight of narrow stairs) had a base in extremely fragile condition, they also were cognizant of how much this antique from my grandmother meant to me. It now sits proudly and intact in our new home! And they did not leave until they were sure they had done everything possible to get all pieces in just the right place, including moving pieces that were already there. I simply cannot say enough good things about the owner Dan who made us feel so comfortable that every single thing would be done to make this partial move (we will of course be back to them for the final move out once the house sells), and he definitely did not undersell the professionalism of his crew. Chris, driver and team leader, Lorenzo who despite only two years in the business has an uncanny eye for spatial relationships plus boundless enthusiasm, and Gerhard who was the rest of the muscle on the move out - all so far exceeded expectations, it is difficult to compliment them as individuals and their corporate culture highly enough! However they didn't send anyone out to fix it until I called several times and reminded them. I'd still recommend them by far over other moving companies we've used.

A long overdue review of an excellent moving experience. A few months ago, we reached out to A Friendly & Affordable Mover to do an in-town move. The owner, Dan Frasier came out in person to give us an estimate, with a solid fee with NO “depends on xyz” hidden fees. We asked them to do the full move - I was 35 weeks pregnant on moving day and there was no way I could pack or move anything. The price was reasonable - not the cheapest, but not the most expensive, and the initial estimate process felt very professional. The actual moving service was excellent. Jay and his team came to pack us on day 1 and they were all courteous, efficient, and careful with our furniture and items. Everything was packed well. The second day move was a long day and the guys worked hard all day, and extra guys came through to help out to make sure it was all moved in reasonable amount of time. Everyone was great, and made sure things were put where I wanted them to go. On the third day, two women came out (I’m sorry I don’t remember your names!) and spent all day unpacking for me; they were patient with me while I tried to figure out what goes where and very efficient once I told them where I wanted things to go. And they also took away the boxes!! Would definitely use them again if we move in the future. Thank you for making our move as easy as possible!!!

Please see original review and warning below: To address the company’s reply to my review, I’d like to point out their errors. I Did I fact communicate verbally and in email that damage had been done to my piano. They ignored it. My television was 1 year old and the value was $800 at the time of purchase. The televisions that the company want to compare it to run $400 less because they are side lit, not back lit. My television was backlit. From what I saw on a quick google search, the comparable televisions are now more than $800. Our deductible does in fact cover our television. We didn’t think the company would have damaged it, since we paid them a good deal extra to professionally package our electronics. Finally, I did NOT Original review: WARNING! Read their BBB complaints before hiring! I wish I had. I paid them over $600 to securely package my electronics. Despite paying them They broke my year old $800 television. In addition, my upright piano was gouged in several places along with other smaller damage to other wood furniture and I had to rebuild an old bookshelf and my desk. In good faith, I asked only for my tv to be replaced. The owner sent me a check for $250 saying my tv was only worth a fraction of its actual value. I suspect it was in order to him to not have to make an insurance claim. I am adding to the BBB complaints.

If you are looking for a Moving Company I would definitely suggest this company . I was in the middle of a move when my husband had a heart attack . I was lost and did not know what to do, The management team came to action after hours and moved the entire house and had everything set and ready to come home to . Brenden, Dee and James, were very cordial, they spent 8 hours moving from a top floor apartment to a two story house, moving much of the furniture upstairs. They were exhausted, but never complained. Picked up after themselves and broke nothing. This is the third time I have used this company and would recommend them (I already have) to anyone.

3 movers showed up on time and "ready to go." Finished in under 2 hours, which is what we had scheduled and budgeted. The only suggestion would be to let the customer know in advance there will also be a $75 "truck charge," which I didn't know about beforehand. Otherwise, service was just fine.

Best Mover in Virginia Beach!! This was our 3rd time using them. We recently moved out of a large 2 bedroom apartment into storage. Stephanie and her team did a Great Job !! Dan, the owner, was prompt and professional. Dan gave us a quote and the quote was accurate and did not change. I was super impressed with the movers from A Friendly & Affordable Mover. They arrived promptly during the promised window, and they immediately got to work after confirming the inventory of my belongings. They did not waste any time talking or slacking off. Three gentlemen had my 1 bedroom apartment on a third floor walk-up packed within 1.5 hours. Two of the men had to drive my stuff 5-6 hours away to my destination. My mother met them at that location, and she said the men worked extremely hard (again having to go up a flight of stairs) and had everything unloaded within 2 hours. They took extreme care in covering my furniture with blankets and nothing was damaged. They were much more affordable than other options I considered. I would use them again and recommend them in a heartbeat.

I saw some of the reviews on here and while most were good there are a couple of bad ones. I still chose this company because I have some friends who have used them and highly recommended. I am glad I chose to go with them after calling a few others. The owner is very knowledgeable and upfront about everything and there were no last minute changes when it came to rates or what I was promised. I can’t say the same for some other companies I’ve dealt with in the past. I will be calling these guys every time I need help moving and I highly recommend them to anyone who needs a mover they can trust.

They were very gentle with my fragile pieces. They took down loaded unloaded and put together all the stuff we needed. We had a goal and a plan. I am moving offices and chose A Friendly & Affordable Mover. Thia isimy third time using them. This move took place on October 13th and I couldn't be any happier.Tony & his team met me at my office..They were on time and ready to work! It took me over a week to get things staged and no time for them to load it all,and Tony making sure all items leaving were loaded,covered and wouldn't shift,as well as going over the contract to make sure I understood everything.Very professional! When we got to the new office, I explained it was on the second floor and there was no elevator. No complaints whatsoever the whole time (I was tired the 2 trips I made up and down the stairs ,they made plenty more trips) and it was a Saturday to boot. I can't recommend them highly enough! Always professional. I will use them for all my moving needs in the future.

Friendly & affordable was a blessing. Firstly, if you’re thinking of using all my sons, DONT. Used them a year ago and then friendly & affordable this year- we loved them. We will never go back to any other moving service. Yes it is expensive to have people pack & move your items but you get what you pay for and believe it or not we paid this company to pack & move the same amount we paid the other company just to move- with a lot less of the furniture. It all started with the owner coming out for a consultation- which we accidentally stood him up the first time as something came up and I completely forgot to call! He was so kind and understanding! He came out the next week & basically audited the place to see an estimate. So affordable. I paid right then & there for the full service. Communication from then until the move (about a month) was exactly what it needed to be. Email communication, calls to verify expectations, and even a handwritten letter saying how to best execute the move- very personal! Then the day came and they only had a 30 minute window. When you’re moving this is HUGE. We have a new baby so it’s so appreciated when people can budget time appropriately. They showed up within the window with time to even spare. A group of 4 gentleman showed up. Jay & his team. They were very professional, made me feel comfortable, and I didn’t feel the need to watch over anything they did! I could go all day saying positive things but I’ll save you all the time! This team is great!!

I wish I could give this company negative stars. I have never done a review on a company before but when I pay as much as I did and get garbage service that I received I had no choice. These movers used old boxes that came apart regardless of them charging you for boxes, they charged extra for my clothes on the hangers and threw them in old boxes but didn’t take them out when we got to the new place. They damaged my furniture and left after trying to leave without putting everything together before. I called and complained and unprofessional Barbara at the front told me to take the clothes out myself after I paid extra for them to do it. Dan came by, I don’t know why because he is even more unprofessional and would not honor the estimate that he did. Stay away from these unprofessional and rude people. Take your money elsewhere.

Overcharged me for the move PRIOR to the move! We hired them for a labor only move and paid a $100 deposit to reserve the move date. I asked if they worked on Sunday and they said that they did so I scheduled the move for a Sunday. The Friday prior to the move I receive a call confirming the move and a demand for full (overpayment) payment PRIOR to the move. This was never mentioned during the scheduling and was not included in the email confirmation when the appointment was set. We had discussed the move taking 3 maybe 4 hours tops as it was only large items. The move took 4 hours. It would have taken 3 but our treadmill needed to be dismantled (into 2 pieces) and reassembled at new location - and yes that took them a whole hour. A Friendly & Affordable Mover required me to pay a MINIMUM of 5 hours for this move PRIOR to the move. I received my refund the following Wednesday for overpayment. The movers were fine, on time, but not super fast. We have had faster movers and slower movers both. They looked tired as they had worked 13 hours the day before. We tipped them as they were certainly friendly and willing to help. Just beware, if you hire this company for a Sunday move, you will be paying BEFORE you receive the service and most likely overpay. They wanted to charge me for 6 hours!

Will and Kelly helped our grandparents pack up their house. They were incredibly well-mannered, nice, efficient, personable. The pod we had rented visibly looked too small to fit everything that was planned for it, but they by far exceeded expectations and did an incredible job of efficiently packing everything up. Not transparent when it comes to their insurance. First they dropped boxes from their truck while moving them in and told me to not worry about it, only to find out this company is not responsible if they weren’t the ones to actually pack the boxes. BEST MOVERS we ever had!!! A big thanks to Barbara who was so great and helping us get organized for my dad's move to an Assisted Living Facility. She was totally understanding about having to work around the ALF's moving in schedule and made accommodations cheerfully! Our actual movers came a few min early (they called to make sure it was okay first) and they were AWESOME!! A big THANK YOU to Marcus, Tommie and Eric T!!! Professional, hard working, super patient working around my dad (who is very ill) and friendly as well. They brought everything door to door and set my dads room up in the ALF the way he wanted it.
