Joe and David packed us up to move from our home to assisted living. It was a difficult move for us, but they really made it easier. Greedy, untrustworthy weasels about sums it up. I could write pages on their unethical business practices. But a couple of highlights. 1) Their crew showed up two hours late for a move. So they didn’t finish on the day they had set aside. The owner of the company threatened to send the police to arrest me because I would not pay in advance for the extra two hours the next day. I wasn’t paying until they finished the job. He had to back off his threats after I complained to his on site manager. Who then told me the owner is certifiably nuts. 2) They did a cross country move and arrived on time. Great. But they rushed the unloading. They didn’t double check their truck for my items. Twice I said, hey what about...and they’d go back to truck and find it. They did not split up my items from other deliveries. So things got mingled. I was told they would unpack at destination. They did not. They dropped off and left as fast as possible. 3) After they left, found a box was missing. I spent six months emailing the manager about the missing box. And for six months, he kept saying they’d check. Finally, six months later, he says they can’t find it and to submit an insurance claim. Two weeks later...he writes that they can’t do anything with the claim because I didn’t let them do the unpacking! Yet, it was his team that refused to do any unpacking! And it was him that told me to submit the claim! So he already knew he was going to deny it and just wanted to continue wasting my time. 4) And finally, I had to purchase my own insurance to insure them (Booska Movers) in case their driver fell asleep or was in accident or the truck went up in flames. Booska doesn’t have insurance that covers anything happening to your items in transit!! Also, homeowners and the renters insurance doesn’t cover it either. You have to buy special insurance that is difficult to find and expensive ($2,000). So be aware that if their driver goes off the road or does drugs and burns up the truck...you are not covered. Stay away from this company. They are unreliable and cut corners. And the owner is a raving lunatic...even their staff says it!!

I was really impressed--4 movers and 2 trucks had us relocated in a matter of hours, right in the time estimated. Talked on the phone with Josh and Marlene at Booska and they were amazing in facilitating my move. Every time I called totally frantic when some of my details were inaccurate or I was wondering when a truck would arrive, they were there to pick up the phone and let me know that everything will indeed be okay. The two movers that came(Jeremy and Nate) BOOKED. I don't know where they found these guys but they were quick, friendly, and oodles of efficient in moving a 5,000 pound load. I was floored. No joke, these are the best in class. This service was well worth the investment. I'll look at this service as the gold standard to judge other moving companies by in the future. The worst experience ever. These people are thieves. When the guys arrived, I thought that 4 meth heads had just been released from jail. They were nice enough, and I tried to ignore the alarms going off in my head, but it turned out that I should've listened to the alarms. They stole prescribed medications, broke doors and door jams without attempting to repair them, then took off with my packed luggage that was intended for a trip the next day. When I called, their manager refused to send them back because they had gone over their allowed hours, had parked and locked the truck up, and gone home. I had to go on vacation without my luggage. I reported all of the above, and received a brief apology from the woman on the phone along with a promise to have the owner contact me. He never called. Minus stars or at least zero is my rating pref.

Amazing.. I contacted over 4 different movers and several quotes later with 2- 6 people to move an upright antique piano. They were just amazing realizing the craftsmanship of the piano and took precautions to prevent damage. Since they made it in great time my invoice was even lowered!!! I was ever so pleased. We needed a piano taken off our cargo trailer and moved into a home outside Burlington, and did quite a bit of research before settling on Booska. Their price was fair, they were easy to work with by e-mail, and communication was very good. The truck arrived within a few minutes of their scheduled time. Shane, Daniel and Jackson carefully wrapped and padded the piano and once the instrument had been removed from the trailer, they accomplished the move with a minimum of fuss - even though it was a challenging move - staying within the stated estimated time for the job. I'm sorry to have to write a less than stellar review, but I feel that this situation warrants it. We have been professionally packed and moved all over the country, several times. This was by far the worst experience we've had. The "professional" packers that were on our job did not seem to understand how to efficiently pack a home. I found items that had been in one room at the old house in many different boxes and in many different rooms in the new house. Instead of packing by room, they seemed to pack by category; for example, all lamps, regardless of what room they came from, were packed together. However, the lamp shades were in a separate box, and the bulbs in another box. Every bath mat, runner and rug I had in multiple rooms were all taped together and placed in my basement. Additionally, the boxes were labeled with ball point pen, instead of an easy to read sharpie marker. It almost seemed as if our job was the first moving job these guys had been on, and it caused the unpacking process to be much longer than necessary. There was much grumbling when I asked them to place a large area rug correctly in the room and centered over the rug pad, and then centering the sofa bed on that. This is not an unreasonable request, in my experience. In future, we will look to the big national movers and not take a chance on the locals.

I wanted to send another note to thank you and your crew, Jamie & Bill, who moved me out of my home in Essex Junction (taking goods to local storage in Winooski) earlier this week. Arriving early Monday morning, they completed packing additional kitchen items, entertainment pieces and fragile items. Booska has been incredibly professional and easy to work with during what is usually a pretty stressful situation- moving! They have answered all calls and have been very responsive to all questions and all of our needs. Mark, Scott and Tyler came to pack the truck. I just wanted to let you know that both Joel and Josh (the driver) were wonderful in our difficult move to Wisconsin from Vermont. Josh is so organized, empathetic, skilled in business and client relationships you must give him a franchise or something to own or run. Joel was wonderful in helping us get things rounded up to pack, soothing our sometimes worried selves and keeping things going forward. My husband, Al Roupp, an architect, owned two businesses. One had, at one point, 20 employees, and was located in downtown Chicago. I was the office manager for quite a while. It is rare to find employees like Josh and Joel - people who are responsible, trustworthy and hardworking. People who never quit, never moan or complain, have problem-solving abilities and keep the job moving forward. Booska moved us out to Vermont in Oct. 2011. Moving out of our big house was traumatic to say the least, but we found the same quality of service then. Clearly, if (dare I say this) we ever move again (oh, no I did say it..) we will always, always use Booska. Josh and Joel are treasures as employees. I hope you treat them well and they are given even more responsibility in your fine company along with a good raise.

Yesterday (7/31) we moved our home across town. The items moved included a piano that needed to go up a narrow staircase and a narrow turn into its new home. Our Booska movers, Jeremy, Jonathan and Adam, plus two others added during the last hour, worked as a team to hoist our piano up those stairs. Our movers actually made the move fun. We could not believe how efficient and friendly all three were in their handling of the job. Thank you for such wonderful service!

Josh Osborne and Booska to the rescue! I am writing this review so any potential moving clients won’t make the same mistake. I opted for a less expensive source that did not communicate effectively with me. They left me hanging on the day of the big move. No return phone calls, texts or emails. I was in a rut! One quick call to Josh and Booska and they were able to recover my day with in a couple of hours. The movers were super friendly and efficient. The price was on point and Josh’s professional demeanor helped to calm my nerves on a stressful day. They got the job done! Lesson learned: don’t go for cheap, go for the best! I want to take a moment and provide some feedback on our recent move and take the opportunity to compliment the team who moved us. Pam and I moved with our girls last weekend from Middlesex to Underhill and we contracted with Booska based on our previous experience in moving to Middlesex six years ago, the attention to detail on the proposal and because of your experience with moving pianos. We were a bit anxious about the move due to the soft pine floors in the new house and our intent to move a piano across the floor and down one level. Throughout the day, Shawn, Jamie and Bill made us feel comfortable with the process and worked quickly, carefully and professionally. They were super accommodating to our requests and really made our two girls feel at home in their new home and rooms. We were amazed at how organized and how well they worked together and were really pleased in the care they took with both of our homes and possessions; everything arrived in fantastic shape. In addition, Shawn acted as an "arbitrator" in positioning furniture when Pam and I had trouble agreeing on the right layout.Thanks again for all of your great work and while we hope we don't need to use Booska anytime soon we will wholeheartedly recommend you to friends and family.

Had a negative experience with this company. Make sure you know ALL costs up front as they will charge you with late fees if you can't move into a house at the exact time that you anticipated. These fees aren't disclosed until after the fact. Not a professional outfit.

I've waited a few weeks to write this review in order to avoid an angry review of Booska. I arranged and confirmed the time (twice) of the pickup of my belongings in Ferrisburgh. Due to staffing mistakes with coordination, Booska was 4 hours and 15 minutes late and they brought an 18 wheeler instead of the box truck I originally requested (I was clear from the beginning that an 18 wheeler would not fit in my driveway). During the delay, I was professionally courteous in expressing my frustration and letting them know I would likely miss my flight and incur costs for an extended rental car and plane change. Three different staff members suggested I check out with my driver and leave the house while they packed my belongings. I disagreed as my move involved a partial house move and I wanted to be there. With the 18 wheeler parked at the end of my 200+ yard driveway, I requested a van or box truck to ferry my belongings. David Booska called me on the phone and was loud, disrespectful, intimidating and belligerent. When I expressed concern about the movers taking all my belongings by hard cart down my driveway, David suggested I did not know how to pack and that he could send packers to repack my belongings, at my expense. Having no other option, I borrowed a neighbor's pickup truck to complete my loading. I have never been treated with such disrespect in a professional situation. I think Booska has some serious staffing issues and they need training in how to treat their customers. The only bright side of my move was the driver and loaders. The driver, Chris, did an outstanding job and treated me with kindness and respect. I urge caution in hiring Booska movers

They overcharged me for more than 1 hour and when I requested a refund it took almost 2 months. They also quoted me $40 to dump a chair and forgot to include truck and driver time on the quote, which ended up being $110. Just watch out for their so called quotes and look at your times closely. Also note that the movers will take breaks on your time and that your stuff may end up smelling like cigarrette smoke.

We went with Booska for a cross country move from Vermont a few months back, and were quite pleased with the service and care we received. Here are a few examples: For delivery day, Jason (the driver) hired two extra hands locally to help unload, which is common. What wasn't common was when Jason sent them away early because he (and Jason #2, his terrific right hand man) didn't like how they treated our things. It meant more work for them, but they didn't bat an eye. When Jason was putting our son's bunk bed together, he noticed that whoever had first put it together back in Vermont had done it wrong. Rather than just re-doing it the same way, he took the time to figure it out and get it done right. I didn't ask him to, he just did it. During the final walk-thru, I noticed that a wooden slat was missing from one cabinet. Jason figured it was probably buried under the packing blankets back on the truck and said if he found it he'd mail it to us. Sure enough, a few weeks later a package arrives from Vermont. A lot of folks wouldn't have bothered. It says a lot that he did. Thumbs up for Booska. If life ever takes us back to the Green Mountains, we know who to call.

I had always heard that Booska's was an excellent mover and I found out first hand just last week. We moved some very bulky, heavy furniture out of our home to our son's house several miles away. The movers came promptly, were very careful moving these items out of the house without damaging any walls or the furniture. They were courteous and friendly. Glen, one of the movers, shared that he had been with the company for 18 years and said it was a family-owned and a very good company to work for. Jason, the other mover was conscientious and polite. My dealings with the office staff setting up the appointment and the follow through was outstanding. Thank you Booska's. We will recommend you and continue to do business with you on any other move we might be contemplating.

We have used Booska twice and have, overall, been pleased with their service. We had some items damaged on our last move and are yet to receive payment for those items 2 months later. We were told two weeks ago that a check was in the mail, we haven't seen it or been able to get a response from the company. I would love to give these guys 5 stars, but I have been very displeased with the follow up on our insurance claim. UPDATE: got my issue resolved this morning through a very pleasant phone conversation with Adam. Upping my review to 4 stars.

I have used this company several times in the past, so I was unprepared for how lousy their service has gotten. After they told me they would come for the pickup on the "19th or 20th" of the month (they refused to give me an exact date or time, and did not return my phone call when I called for an explanation), they showed up on the 17th. Then they told me they would deliver everything at the destination on the 25th. I was pleased to finally have a specific date. It is now the 26th, and I have not heard from them. No call, no response to my email. I stayed home all day yesterday waiting for them. They have my stuff. This is easily the worst service I have ever received from a moving company, and I get the distinct impression that they really could not care less about that.

Nice enough guys and hard workers, but they don't keep their promises. If you are doing a local move hire another company. They don't tell you they charge an hour each way even if you are ten miles from their departure location. I hired 4 guys, but only 3 showed up and I was charged $210 an hour for travel to and from their base ten miles away. I decided to hire four guys because I thought it would get done faster. Three showed up and then more than half way through the move two more guys showed up to ride the gravy train and they padded the bill for the extra guy even though I didn't want to hire five. Also if you are moving into a new house do not get your carpet cleaned before they move you. If anyone has been moved by a professional company you know that they will place floor protection down to include placing covering on carpet to prevent tracking mud in. Booska does not wear boot covers or protect floors, so they will track dirt on your freshly cleaned carpets. Hire a professional moving company and you will be happier and have more money in your pocket.

Booska did a great job with our move from South Burlington to Williston. We had previously used VT Moving and Storage, who was booked and recommended Booska. They were able to accommodate our Saturday move request when I called two weeks before moving day, which we were grateful for! When the job was bigger than they had realized based on my phone estimates when booking, they were able to call in an additional person for the day upon arrival. They expertly handled a crazy heavy pull-out couch and king-sized mattresses going up and down narrow staircases, and didn't cause a single dent, scratch, or scuff mark along the way. I would like to say we would happily use again, but hopefully we won't be moving for a long while - highly recommend!
