When our move had to be rescheduled due to Hurricane Florence, they offered to move us a day early! We opted to wait and they kept in close touch to reschedule. My military move was sent through these guys after i got out of the Army and came back from Korea. I had to track down where my stuff was from the army wide moving office who was showing my property as being still in transit. Come to find out these guys have been sittin on it in their warehouse for weeks. I didn't receive a call, text, email, NOTHING! Now they say the earliest they can make the delivery is another two weeks!! Bad communication and no urgency in correcting their mistakes.

I would rate the services of Dale J. Cook Moving on a scale of 5+. Evidence to support this comes from my first move using Dale J. Cook in Jan., 2013. Such a great experience with all staff members and the actual movers (and I had lots of heavy furniture...and a lot of steps to go up and down), and I was especially impressed with their expediting my move with exceptional professionalism and attention to all details. Especially, the TLC they gave to my large grandfather clock. When I needed to move again in June, 2014, I didn't hesitate in calling Mary at Dale J. Cook. Again, I received that same fantastic service both in planning, keeping the cost down, completing my move and then the follow up. Dale J Cook has done 9 moves for my husband and me. These included to and from our primary homes, to and from second homes and condos, and business moves. I can say without any reservation that they are absolutely outstanding. We chose them originally when we were researching the best company to handle 2 large chandeliers purchased in the Czech Republic. In every move we have been extremely satisfied. They are professional, organized, careful and caring. Their people know the moving business well and give perfect service in all aspects of a move. We love these people and feel as though they are a part of our family. I wholeheartedly recommend them for any move-large or small. I would not make a move without Dale J. Cook!!

I can't say enough great things about this moving company. Over the last 15 years I have moved about 10 times and each time has been a miserable experience, until now. Dale J Cook was professional from start to finish. It started with Cornee who came out to give us our moving estimate. She arrived on time was professional and walked us through everything we would need to know about the move. Then our moving dates kept changing because of problems with closing our new home. We had to switch moving dates at least five times during the busy moving season. Cornee was fantastic and tried to accommodate the best she could under the circumstances. She was always polite and professional even though I know she must have wanted to scream after I called to change the moving date once again. We had the company do our packing and they did a fantastic job. The crew was polite worked hard and took great care of our things. Not one thing was broken during the move. On the moving day the crew showed up on time and got right to work. Again like everyone before them they were professional and polite. We were doing a local move so we were paying by the hour. I definitely feel that I got my moneys worth. I have never seen a moving crew work so hard. They took great care of our things and nothing was broken or damaged. Once we arrived at our new house to begin unloading a second crew who's day ended early came to help our original crew. They were just as hardworking as the first crew. After the movers delivered something inside they literally ran back to the truck to get something else. To top everything off the final price came in less then Cornee's original estimate. As a business owner myself I have a great appreciation for well run companies. Dale J Cook is a first rate organization and I highly recommend them to anyone who is moving.

Seems to be a common theme with this company paying their disrespects to military movers, based on the comments. My transition to Charleston was no different. In addition to all of my fragile things being simply dumped into one inexcusable and irreplaceable pile and incorrectly assembling furniture to the point of causing danger to my kids (pictures uploaded under the photos section), it turns out that one of the movers STOLE A CREDIT CARD FROM MY WIFE AND WENT ON A SPENDING SPREE IN THE SURROUNDING NEIGHBORHOOD!! DO NOT trust this company and do not let their subhuman indecent workers around your hard earned life. The finer details of this incident are being filed with both the BBB and the appropriate police department.

I wish I could give them less than 1 star. I have moved 4 times with the military and this has been the worst experience I have ever had. I really do no know where to begin. First of all, they did a horrible job packing. Nothing got labeled correctly they just threw whatever they found and named the box something generic. I just have 15 boxes saying garage sitting there not knowing what is in them. Not to mention that all of the boxes they brought to pack my stuff were all used, which I can understand, the problem is that they did't erase the previous information so then I had a bunch of boxes with other last names and labeled incorrectly. They also ran out of their used boxes so a lot of my stuff was not packed at all so they left a bunch of hardware around and now I am having trouble putting together my furniture in my new house. Another problem I ran into was I had overflow on the truck so Dale J Cook had to store my extra stuff until another truck picked it up and they threw everything on their truck without boxes or wrapping it and most of my stuff that was put in that storage came damaged. Two shelves just collapsed when they got off the truck and broke to pieces, they chipped the wood off of a bunch of my furniture and damaged other items. Again, I had a lot of experiences with movers and this has been the absolute worst.

Own a small house or rent a small apartment? Then this is not the company for you!!! To bad I can't give less than 1 star. I couldn't be more disappointed with my experience with this company. It is actually owned by family "friends" so I was surprised at how I was treated and also how they conduct business. This was the first time I have ever tried to use a moving company so I decided to give them a try first because like I said earlier our families know each other. I went into the store personally to speak to Tony but was told he wasn't in and was passed on to a sales person named Mary. She was fairly nice and after talking and describing what I needed to move (I have a small home) quoted me what I thought was a fair price of $320. I asked her if it was ok if I could step outside and make sure my girlfriend was ok with that and would be right back. When I came back in about 3 minutes later to tell her we were good to go she informed me the price was now $545. When I asked why she said 1 of the owners overruled her. I argued that she had just given me a quote only minutes earlier and she became very rude and right about then one of the owners walked in (also with a rude attitude) and said that's the price take it or leave it. His rational to me was why should he "waste" his guys time for a hour and half or so on my small house when he could POSSIBLY have the opportunity of having them moving a larger house and he could charge more. I was confused... so I'm there now to give them business but since I don't own a mansion my business isn't wanted or appreciated? I just said no thank you and left and went with another company (non "family friends") and was treated far better and with respect and no trickery when I go to accept their original quote. Needless to say i will never give them my business again and will be sure to try and tell as many people as I can about their shady business techniques. But.... not all is lost, apparently if you own a 5 or 6 or 7 bedroom house they will be happy to help you so could be good for someone if that's your situation.

Anyone who's moved a lot knows the million things that can go wrong from broken elevators in buildings to missing furniture parts at the final destination. And of course broken items. DJC packers are excellent: everything labelled perfectly, nothing lost, nothing broken. Movers are fast but careful and flexible. We have some very large pieces that they've successfully handled. We've had deadlines they've always met. Everyone works full tilt at all times. We've moved 10 times in 36 years. These guys did three of them and are the best we've ever hired. We would now reschedule our next move to get on their calendar.

Items not packed properly, priceless articles of furniture broken. Regardless of any kind of pay out, these items will never have the value they did prior to the move, and sentiment can't be reimbursed. The packers packed everything, even things that should not have been packed such as open bottles of cleaner and items in the attic that we had specifically told them to leave. Because they didn't listen we were over on our move and had to reimburse the government. If you have a choice, choose someone who will show a little more care with your antiques than this crew.
