REVIEWS OF Carolina Moving & Storage Co IN South Carolina

Luna Park

We've moved 8 times in the last 26 years with some very bad experiences. However, Carolina Moving & Storage completed our last move on time and less $$$ than expected. The crew was great, respectful of us and our property, and efficient. Hopefully, we won't have to move again but if so, we would call on them again.

Worked hard all day. Great guys. A couple of wall scuffs but to be expected when you have furniture going up stairs. Would recommend to others. This was an in town move.

Josh Lauener

I would not hesitate to recommend them and/or use them again. The crew that showed up...John, Cedrick, Cecil, and Noah...were ready to get to work. They were very professional and fun. Our experience with Carolina Moving and Storage was one of the least stressful parts of our move.

Excellent. Best moving experience we’ve ever had. Packed us 10/7/19. Load out 10/8/19. Move in 10/10/19. Mike, Deb and Jennifer in the office were unfailingly helpful. Our moving crew made what is usually a very difficult experience (move out and move in) almost fun. These four men.....Al, Cedric, Noah and Reggie were a delight. Thank you for your professionalism, hard work and for all the laughter. FC

Do NOT use Carolina Moving and Storage in Beaufort! I used them to move out of my house, storage for 3 months, and then into my new home. The move out seemed to go well. HOWEVER, upon getting my things back the varnish on my 1960's piano was damaged in the supposedly climate controlled storage, a wallhanging that they packed was damaged beyond repair, a bookshelf was damaged beyond repair, platters were broken in pieces, and a lampshade was broken in pieces. Most detrimental, upon moving my furniture into my new home, my NEW hardwood floors were scraped and dented. I counted more than 40 dents! I had to have my entire hallway refinished and Carolina Movers would only pay half of the cost even though I had told them that I had just put down new floors and they needed to be careful! They used NO special equipment or blankets on the floor to protect it! When the owner came over to look at my floor, he had a VERY BAD ATTITUDE! Then they ACCUSED ME OF LYING about the damage. This move cost me A LOT OF MONEY! I had to PAY IN FULL BEFORE THEY WOULD UNLOAD THE TRUCK. Then I had to sign for damages before I could even unpack the boxes. I would NEVER use Carolina Moving and Storage again!

No complaints. Wish I had done a little better recording of items at my end when I started my move. Can't find a few little odds & ends. Did they lose a little box of stuff or did I misplace it? Not sure. Not the end of the world. Wouldn't hesitate to deal with this company again. They were very pleasant to deal with & helpful (picked up packing boxes when I was unpacked).

They owe our company money and it's approaching a year old and have yet to respond to any of the information sent over to them on it.

We have relocated 3 times with Carolina Moving / Wheaton Van Lines and could not be more pleased. The crew was professional, expedient and made the stress of moving easier! My estimate was accurate and everything was done as promised.

Anthony Mastroianni

We moved several times over the years. This move ranked very high on our list. Very professional, and friendly from the estimate, to the office staff and the 4 men who conducted the move.

My husband and I just relocated to the low country from Maryland. We brought our furniture down and stored it in a facility near where our house was being built. We decided on Carolina Moving & Storage to move our furniture from the facility to our new home and were impressed with their willingness to assist us. The movers were very professional, courteous, and respectful and made it a point to handle our furniture with care. They also made sure each piece was positioned where we wanted it and took the time to set up our beds. The mover’s personalities were funny and they all appreciated the snacks and water we provided. And last but not least we were given an estimate for what the move would cost, which was reasonable and received notification when the job was finished the cost would be less. We couldn’t have be more pleased, we highly recommend Carolina Moving & Storage for all your moving needs. Charlie and Suzanne Sherwood (Hilton Head Lakes, South Carolina)

The staff was courteous and polite.

This review is for Carolina Moving and Storage/Wheaton -- affiliate moving companies hired to move my parents from Hilton Head to Dallas in 2017. This was their 10th across country move with professional movers but by far this was the most unprofessional move. From the initial estimate to the final resolution of bill, incompetent mistakes were made. 1. Deceitful Estimating – When they provided an estimate for the move, my father said he wanted to insure for Full Replacement Value (FRV). On the day of the move, they shoved a piece of paper at my mother and asked her to sign it and crossed off FRV indicating that they had chosen the option for 60 Cents a Pound Replacement Value (60PRV). This document was signed AFTER the truck was fully loaded, late at night, without any explanation and multiple price options on the page. Why would a company obtain a signature with an agreed price AFTER they have arrived with their crew and loaded up the truck with their possessions? Even after their items were shipped, we were told in writing by Wheaton that my parents had opted for FRV….but later they informed us that they had actually signed for the “60PRV”. So for example, if you have a $4000 TV weighing 50 pounds, you will receive $31 compensation. 2. Beware! The initial estimate is a “non-binding agreement”. We later learned that there is no cap to what they can charge. The total cost of the move was +19% vs. the original estimate. The only thing that changed vs. the original estimate is that my parents DID NOT TAKE a large mirror and golf clubs and ADDED one additional CHAIR. This is hardly enough to justify at +19% increase in price! The weight of the move was 16.5K which was an increase of +22% vs the original estimate…which then increased transportation charges +18% and fuel charges +18%. Dish packing cost was +153% over estimate. They blamed my mother and said she had told them that she would pack up half the plates. No. My mother is in her 80s and has never packed any of her own plates for a move. Was this part of their plan to provide a lowball estimate with a non-binding agreement? 3. Moving Day Nightmares – One truck was dedicated to this move. A few days before the moving date my mother was told that there would be a truck arriving with some other items already loaded on the truck. Mom expressed concern but the company said it would be fine. It wasn’t. A SECOND back up truck was required to come for the remaining items…. but was still not large enough. A THIRD truck was required and this delayed the move significantly. Additionally, on the initial day of the move the moving crew did not show up. A back up crew was arranged that did not arrive until noon. Needless to say, it was an extremely long day and very late by the time they left. (And this is when my mother was asked to sign paperwork with their “pricing”.) 4. Delivery Nightmares – Movers were specifically told to put clothing and computer on the FIRST truck….but didn’t. The move in date was scheduled for Monday 10/16. No crew was available. We were told Tues. that if we wanted the truck weighed for verification, it would delay delivery until Wed. This was only for the FIRST truck delivery. They still “didn’t know” when the remaining items would be delivered. TEN DAYS LATER the SECOND truck arrived. 5. Nightmares with Billing– Repeated attempts for clarification on billing overages were met with vague answers, unsatisfactory explanations, lack of documentation requested, differing answers about our contractual agreement and a general answer of “non-binding agreement” to explain the overages between estimate and actual expenses. This was a really difficult experience for my whole family. I only hope that by sharing our experience, it will help someone else avoid the months of hassle and heartache that our family had to endure by using this affiliated and incompetent team of Carolina Moving and Storage/Wheaton.

First they damaged wall of home when loadking up. On hand supervisor was to pay me (found out later) and did not. Challenged office and only then did they pay $100.00 Secondly they overcharged my credit card amount above the agreed amount for move. Good thing I caught it, challenged them and only then did they issue a credit to my credit card. THIRD--THEIR MOVERS TOTALLY DAMAGED AN $1800.00 PRINTER AND REFUSE TO REIMBERSE FOR IT. GOING TO OFFICE THEY STATED THAT THEY WERE NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR SENSITIVE GOODS. LATER THEY SENT e-mail STATING THEY ARE NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY DAMAGED CAUSED TO GOODS BY "INHERENT V ICE"!!! NEVER KNEW THAT EMPLOYEES WERE INHERENT VICE??? DO NOT use Carolina Moving & Storeage, Beaufort SC -- they like you for your money and claim absolutely no respnsiblity to damaging your belongings.

This was the best moving experience we have ever had. From the man that came and crated and took apart the amoire to the men that packed and moved us, including the piano were pleasant and worked very hard. it took exactly has long as we were told and there were no extra changes. We have already been telling people of this experience and pass your name on.
