Disappointing service and response I recently hired L&J Transportation in Pottstown to handle my move from Pennsylvania to Utah. While their estimate was higher than other movers, I felt confident in their process, they verbally indicated they did not outsource work, and most reviews were positive. Unfortunately, my experience has been very disappointing. My belongings were not safeguarded within the vehicle and they literally bounced across the country. The company that unloaded the vehicle in Utah was astonished and indicated that the shipment and contents had not been secured at all. See arrival pictures. Additionally, I have been communicating with L&J Moving since my move over 4 weeks ago to discuss the negligent behavior and to find a mutual resolution regarding their service fees. I cannot get anyone to have a conversation. I absolutely would not recommend this company for your move.

Tina Tinari

The best moving company ever. Professionals. Good driver and crew. Very attentive to our needs and concerns. Office staff kept us informed. Service is 10 out of 10. Will highly recommend to family and friends.

I would NOT recommend this company to any of my friends. This was a bad experience from the start. The kid they sent out to do the estimate was in a rush to get through (I think because he was the only one estimating while the others were on vacation). He missed a lot of stuff and severely underestimated the amount of space and crew needed. Took him a few weeks and a reminder call or two to get me the estimate. The crew showed up on moving day and seemed OK until they realized we had too much stuff for them to handle due to the poor estimate. They got sloppy as they rushed and broke a number of things. We watched as our chiminea was picked up by the neck and snapped in two. Filing a claim afterwards was like dealing with a government agency. More stalling and bureaucratic BS than anything else. We got a terse reply and no offer to reevaluate when we called to clarify. Take my advice: read everything twice and make sure you select the highest amount for reimbursement. We got paid 60 cents per pound for the broken chiminea. The chest freezer they broke was not paid for at all since they "had no way of knowing that it worked before the move". It was obvious they didn't really care to make things right now that they had our money.

I was very fortunate to have a terrific experience with L&J Transport. They were very careful with the packing and the transporting of my goods and were extremely timely and helpful.

L&J recently moved our entire household from Philadelphia suburb to Sedona, AZ. The packers did a great job. The driver, Mr. John Kraft, was simply superb. He was professional, courteous and totally efficient. This was the best of our five interstate moves.

Really couldn't be happier with the service of this moving company. I had furniture that was a real pain to get out and the movers I had were so patient and professional. I would suggest them to anyone. Moving in day into our new place went great and they were fast and neat. Really took a lot of stress and worry of my shoulders.. thank you!!

Two issues: 1) We are missing some items in which we know was left on the truck as it was loaded at origin. Ground flag poles which I saw them load. (But did not sticker) They are not that clostly but it is the fact they where never delivered. 2) They damaged my motorcycle and refusing to fix or compensate me for those damages. The paperwork was clearly marked as having Goldwing to me transported, when the truck arrived to load, they had no clue they had to move the bike. No straps, no tie downs, nothing needed to transport the bike. Driver said he will just 'pack things tight around it'. You cant do that with a 900 lb motorcycle. Well they did. In doing so they broke the front fender causing about $350 in damage. The damage was not noticed when it was initially unloaded as it was hidden up under the frame. Since it was not noticed upon delivery on the paperwork, they refuse to compinsate me. I did inform them of the damage the very next day. Had I not just put a new front tire on the day before they loaded the bike, I could not be certain when the damaged happen. But, I did just put on the new tire the day before loading and the fender was fine and with out damage. Our Goldwing was a concern from the frist day about getting it to CA undamaged. And it was damaged and NA does not care they caused the damage.

Packers were fairly good. Only 3 of the 4 showed up the second day; therefore causing the packing to conclude late in the evening. The actual movers were speedy and also appeared to do the job well. After the truck was loaded everything changed. I was given a window of 5 to 9 days for delivery of our belongings. After the truck left our house that was all I heard from the company. By the day prior to the last day of the window, I still had not heard a word. I spoke with our coordinator who relayed that I should have heard from the driver to set up the arrival time, and that he would check into it. The next day a moving truck with a different trailer arrives at my house. When I greeted the driver and told him this was not my truck, he showed me the paperwork, and opened the doors to the trailer. Yes, it did contain my belongings, but not packed as I had witnessed the week prior. After phone calls to my coordinator, I only then find out that my original trailer had been in an accident somewhere in Pennsylvania (where the move originated). The driver had hit an overpass, causing the roof to peel back like a can. I can only wonder if I had not inquired about the trailer would they have informed me of the accident? The men unloading the trailer were awful...well, 3 of the 4 were. I was told by the claims department to inspect everything thoroughly when uloaded and to take photos. She also said to tell the men to slow down if necessary for me to keep up with the inspections. The driver himself told me they could not do that, they needed to keep their pace and I needed to keep up with them. They guys putting the furniture together were careless, and damaged more of my bedroom furniture while assembling than what was damaged in the accident. And trust me, a lot of furniture was damaged either in the accident, or while they were moving it from the wrecked trailer to the one that actually delivered it. It really kind of ticks me off especially considering that all of the packers and movers were tipped generously, and were fed lunch, beverages, snacks, and on one instance, dinner while they were working for us. The claims was a long and tedious job, several pages including initial cost, from where, replacement values, and photos. Way too much research for something that was someone elses fault. The bright star was the furniture restoration company they sent to our house to make repairs, and to take furniture to their shop that had sever damage. They were great, and although for a move that happend in May I just received my furniture this past week. (partly my fault for taking so long with the claims). To date I still have not unpacked all of the boxes (not unpacking holiday decorations and such until necessary), but thank goodness I have up until 9 months to get a final claims report in. The most unsettling thing about this move was the accident, and the lack of information given to me in regards to it. I was finally sent one photo, only shown from the rear of the trailer. No other information other than it was somewhere in PA and that the driver has been removed from the road. The fact that they did not notify me of the accident...like I said earlier, would they have said anything had I not realized that it was a different trailer? (original one was white, the delivered one was orange) Also, we went through a relocation company via our realtor...if we had done this on our own, and by reading all of the previous reviews here, would we still be dealing with trying to get a claims paid? I can only guess that we would be. I understand accidents happen (literally and figuratively), but the lack of communication is completely unacceptable! Clearly a total lack of disrespect shown to me and my family. NO, I would NOT recommend this company.

Let me start off with this was my 16th move in 22 years. So, I am not a novice mover or packer. I am especially disappointed in L & J Transportation as they were recommended to me by someone who had used them for both a local and long haul move. My move was local, I packed the boxed items myself and L & J packed/wrapped my furniture. The move it self was adequate, the men were nice, dragged their feet a bit but I expect that the move will always take longer than quoted. In this case an hour and a half more. My main issue was the claim process and the lack of integrity by L & J Transportation in handling the process. I purchased full insurance coverage as I have a dinning room table that is my favorite piece of furniture and didn't want to pay to replace if it was damaged. The table is round and the movers did roll it on it's side on the ground outside (not inside on carpet) instead of lifting it onto the dolly. I suspect however that most of the damage was done once it was on the truck as I suspect it was rolled into position. I also had two other minor items break I suspect these broke during the unload process when something was dropped or fell onto other items while being un-stacked on the truck. I was inside and I went out to check and was ignored when I asked what happened if everyone was ok. When the move was complete I was asked to sign the paperwork. There was no where that I saw where I could note the damages that I was aware of, the dinning table and a plastic storage container. I did not want to sign because of this and said as such to the move manager. I said it more than once in fact and he never showed me where I could note that there was damage. That is why L & J Transportation denied my claim. Because I did not note the damage at the time of the move. One item I found after I unpacked, in 16 moves I've never had movers stay while I unpacked so I am not sure how L & J Transportation expected me to note the damage on the paperwork, but that is an aside. I hope you find this helpful, good luck with your move.

I also wish I could give 0 stars. Worst experience of my life. The communication was terrible as it took me 5 calls to get them to send me the correct form for my original inventory list. I then explained I lived in the city and parking would be an issue where they assured me "they would take care of it". Movers showed up and were completely shocked I didn't have parking spaces so they blocked my entire street upsetting many of my neighbors. The movers acted like I was inconveniencing them every time they picked up a box. It seemed to me that they went out of their way to stack very heavy boxes on top of all the ones marked "fragile", breaking several items. Afterwards I filed a complaint as they ripped the entire back off of my entertainment center. My move coordinator told me they forwarded the information along and I would hear something back in 24-48 hours. A week later I followed up and couldn't get a response. I left several e-mails and voicemails when someone finally got back to me and told me I had to fill out a separate form and have it notarized (never mentioned to me when I originally complained). I did this and sent it in and again never heard back. I followed up several more times over the next few weeks with little to no reponse when FINALLY, their "claims agent" Gyna Craigo, THE MOST MISERABLE, INCOMPETENT, RUDE, person I've ever met said a check would be sent out. They would only pay me .60 for every pound of damaged materials. They NEVER explained this to me originally. They broke a $650 entertainment center and an antique typewriter from my grandmother and they were only going to give me $60. It was an absolute joke. Nonetheless, after I was told the check would be sent out, 2 weeks later I still hadnt received anything and started e-mailing Gyna and leaving her voicemails asking her to please call or e-mail me back to let me know what was going on. Over a month later, the check still has not come. They are an absolute JOKE of a company and I would NEVER trust them for a move ever again!

The crew that moved us was wonderful -- and fast! Can't remember their names just now but they were careful and precise

Our move from New Jersey to Ohio could not have been made easier by the L&J group. The driver and crews at both ends were hard working and very knowledgeable of our needs. Not only did they move our furniture but an entire wood workshop to boot. Each item, household or large machine was wrapped and protected to a degree that I would have never thought needed. Everything arrived in perfect condition and keep on mind it poured rain at both end of the move. They protected both our old house and the new one from the soaking outside. While I hope to not move agsin for many years, I would whole heartily recommend L&J Transport to anyone in need of a very hardworking and reliable mover.

Michelle O'Leary

Our move from Westtown, Pa to Cape May, NJ was executed perfectly. The move was smooth and painless. Tom Lavin was professional and helpful through every aspect of the move. His cheerful demeanor and up beat attitude provided positive support and excellent problem solving throughout. The team of movers led by Jay (Xavier) Rivera could not have been more professional, consistently cheerful and accommodating. They provided us with “white glove” care with all our possessions. No damage!!! Great group of professionals. We highly recommend L & J Moving. Thank you Michelle & Jerry O’Leary

I WOULD RATE ZERO STARS IF I COULD!!! THIS WAS THE WORST EXPERIENCE OF MY LIFE!!!!!!!!!!!! The movers themselves were fantastic, HARD WORKING CREW. However, L&J is run by people who truly don't care about about anything other than getting paid. I had numerous broken items that I never received compensation for. The moving crew arrived at my house without a clue they had both my house and a storage unit to load. I was promised by Ryan my items would be dropped off in the correct buildings at my new property. That did not happen, took me two weeks to move everything to the appropriate buildings. I was also assured everything would fit onto one truck load. THAT DID NOT HAPPEN!!!!! The movers had to make two trips and on top of that I had to make a dozen trips to my old house with a pick up truck and an SUV to get the remaining items. I FELT LIKE I MOVED MYSELF AND HAD TO PAY SOMEONE $4000!!!!!!!!!!!! STAY AWAY FROM THIS TERRIBLE COMPANY AT ALL COSTS!!!!!!!!!!!

Driver was outstanding but the unloaders were too few. I had to help unload in order for the driver to keep to his schedule. Overall the goods were received in good shape with some exceptions. A piano bench was not wrapped and was received in the scratched condition. Freezer and dryer showed a dent that was not present at the time of shipment.

I was not there at the location when move was picked up. I was already in New Mexico when movers arrived. Everything was neatly packed, nothing broken, nothing missing. The driver Bruce & the helper James were both courteous & experienced. No problems, everything went like clockwork! Great Job!!! Thanks Kim

L and J Transportation were very professional and caring with our furniture and personal items in our move back to Fort Lauderdale. They took their time packing and loading. I would highly recommend L and J transportation to anyone who is moving.

I have been with L&J since April and it has been one of the most rewarding and best job I have had. The owner and sales team who brought me on board went above and beyond to ensure I was set up for success. The men and women who work here are dedicated, driven and i would highly recommend anyone who is looking for a reliable, responsible and professional moving company to L&J.

Pat Sylvia

The men that packed and unpacked my home where excellent on both ends. They took great care to protect my furniture and all of my possessions. They were polite and professional the entire time they worked. They took care not to mark the walls as they moved furniture. They placed everything where it was to go and even moved things when I changed my mind. They were excellent overall.

Short staffed resulting in late packing until 10:30 at night and late loading the next day. Return phone calls were nonexistent. Actually very little damage on our long move but a good bit on the local move. The lead for the local move was a complete and total jerk. Purchased full replacement insurance - company tried to send me $50 for a damaged item. Never move in June and find another mover. Maria Mattson was the only bright spot in this company.

Worst move ever. It has now been six weeks since L&J picked up our belonging. After telling us they couldn't hold our belongings they drove about two hours from our house, unloaded the truck, waited for another truck who didn't have room for everything. As they were unloading at our new home we find out this has happened and not everything was loaded onto second truck. Had to wait another two weeks for the "crated" overflow. Oh and surprise...we are missing four boxes. All customer service at L&J can say is they are sorry and have started a tracer. General manager will not return phone calls, president will not answer his phone.

Josette Grillo

Move was great

Well executed move from our home into storage. Nice people, personable and thorough. We will reserve final comment until our household goods are delivered from storage.

Easy quoting process and walk through before and after the move. Ryan, Ken, and Lito were my professional movers. They were careful, professional, and courteous.

Kathy Turnowchyk

This was the most unprofessional, disorganized stress causing mover I have ever used. They were not able to load our belongings in one truck on the day promised because they picked up another load before ours and could not fit our stuff. This was a major inconvenience. We had to scramble to find a place to sleep that night, thank goodness we had no pets or children with us. They picked up the rest of the stuff the next day and held it for TWO WEEKS before delivering it to our final destination. We asked the driver on the first day to make sure some of our belongings we new we needed on the other end were on the first truck and the request was completely ignored. The first driver told me he would take a plastic container full of candles and did not. Second driver refused and the moving company refused to send them to us. They took no ownership for the mistakes they made that cost us money and inconvenience. The entire experience was awful. I highly likely recommend hiring a different service. I have moved 7 times across country so know there are good ones out there! If I could give them 0 stars I would.

This was the best experience ever. From the minute I called and scheduled the estimator, who by the way was right on with weight and cost, everything went smoothly. The driver and the crews that helped him were so professional and nothing was too much trouble for them. We have moved many times over the years and this was the best. Thank you!

The pickup of our belongings was the most disorganized move that I have ever seen. It took four guys all day to pick up and load our belongings into two trucks. Two of the guys were more interested in their cell phone and talking to their baby mamas than moving our stuff. The third guy spent the whole day talking to himself and making weird noises. At the end of the day, the supervisor wanted one of the trucks, and the race was on to finish the move before the supervisor arrived. We were nice and gave the movers water and snacks. More about that later. Our stuff had to be moved into storage for three months. I called about a month ahead of time to arrange delivery. We could not get the date that we wanted delivery. So, we had to wait an extra day for delivery. The guys who delivered the stuff made this a three star review instead of a two star review. However, we found all of the water bottles and trash from the original moving crew stuffed in different containers. What a bunch of pigs!!!!!! I guess that you get what you pay for!?!?!

Anil Bhavnani

Maria Mattson was awesome from start to finish. I will only use this company going forward and have recommended it to everyone I know. Definitely the best moving company in USA!!

Robert Capone

The driver and his helper were a great crew very polite and nice. They covered the rugs and did not make a mess. All my items arrived perfectly with no damage. I was very satisfied.

Joel Rosenblatt

L&J gave us an estimate which was competitive. We chose them. Then they sent a moving truck that was too small. They sent a second truck a week or two later and told us that the sales person who gave the estimate had estimated too little. It cost us another $1,600. The driver who delivered the second delivery to us told us that this had happened to him 4 times in the previous several weeks. Several items including a desk were broken.
