I sent a shipment from our downsizing from NC to our daughter in Seattle. Everything went pretty well on our end, except that my case manager never directly communicated with my daughter prior to shipment. This led to her delivery without any previous warning, which was most inconvenient. There seemed to be a lack of communication between the driver and the case manager, each one denying what the other one said. Two antique pieces of furniture were included in the lot. The dressing table arrived damaged with the back rim completely torn off. The desk had multiple scratches from the small drawers inside not being secured. As a result they came out and scratched the entire interior surface of the slant top desk. Now my daughter needs to file a claim. I liked the people with whom we dealt, but I think there needs to be a better system of correspondence between the planners and the movers.

Had a great experience with this company moving from NC to NY. Got a lot of quotes and was very nervous about the industry but they were great to work with and flexible when my dates changed on the back end. The office followed up with me daily during the move to make sure everything was going smoothly and the guys doing the packing/moving were terrific. I would definitely recommend them.

My recent move with this company included full service..... packing, loading and delivery from NC to Florida. This move was my 3rd. relocation move within a 10 year period and was my first "and last" experience with this company. Although I was treated nicely via phone with two of the office staff as well as the Representative that came and gave me an estimate, I have experienced the worst outcome of a move with this company. I have property that was left and not unloaded, lost/stolen or misplaced property, and property that was packed and removed from the my previous location that wasn't mine. And the most significant of all, is after unpacking at my new location, I have "numerous" property items (some of which are significant in value) that are damaged, missing pieces, and inoperable due to the packers or movers. Additionally, I have not heard anything as of yet after weeks of submitting a claim in regards to repairs, replacement or reimbursement of my property. Moving is a very expensive experience and after I had thought I did my research prior to hiring L & J Moving, I would strongly suggest you look elsewhere and take the time to do a thorough background on your moving company.

Consumers should alert others when they have experienced deceptive business practices, especially when it involves the elderly. My parents contracted with L and J Transportation's Clayton, NC, moving company. Because some property was not packed following contract specifications and company protocal, there was irrevocable damage. The Claims Manager admitted to this when our claim was hand delivered. We have been to both Small Claims Court and District Court (judged ruled in our favor in both cases). The company refuses to pay the judgement. Why? Although this company is doing business in Clayton, NC, their company assets are registered in the state of Pennsylvania where their home office is located. When a judgement is placed against a company, the company can refuse to pay if they have their company property registered out of state. This means that, although there is a lien in place, the person they owe money to will not receive a dime from the proceeds of property being sold because the company registered all their property in another state. L and J Transportation company has not only taken advantage of elderly individuals but is using legal loopholes to ensure they do not have to abide by judgements made in a court of law. We did our homework meeting with several nationwide moving company representatives before making our decision to go with L and J Transportation. However, we learned consumers need to ask additional questions regarding the holdings and registration of company property and vehicles before choosing a company to move their property. Protect yourself from a horrific moving experience and steer clear of L and J Transportation.

Our move was a disaster. Items arrived broken and attempted to be put back together by screwing it themselves. We never received weight tickets as we had requested several times. Our coordinator did not answer phone calls and never returned voicemails. If you need a good moving company I advise you to look elsewhere.

L&J made our move as easy as possible. After numerous changes in move date, L&J was flexible in working with dispatcher and packers. The driver and packers worked with my wife to get us boxed up and in the truck. I needed to drive ahead with our pets ( 3 cats) to our new home. All our furniture and personnel items arrived undamaged with no missing inventory. After six military moves, this was the best move yet.

From estimate to receiving our furniture in our new home, L&J's staff were superb. We had thought of getting one of those storage things and packing ourselves, but sanity ruled the day and we were amazed at the speed with which our property disappeared, then reappeared six months later when our new house was finished. Great service at a good price; I heartily recommend them.

Very pleasant personnel, but entrance is not monitored. Doors are locked, bell is out of order, and office staff are out of earshot of any knocking. I finally had to call someone to call someone to come let me in. Once inside, friendly and helpful staff!

Wish I could give less than 1 star. I chose this company because they came in a little less than others, and the sales guy did a good job making (empty) promises. You get what you pay for. They destroyed the home I moved out of (which I still own) by not using any protection on my carpets on the second floor and steps. The result: black grease all over my carpets on the second floor and all 14 steps. I immediately called the move coordinator and told her about it. Come dispute time, they had no record of my complaint, therefore, they owe me nothing to help with the carpet damage. Ironically, the move coordinator is no longer with the company. Well played, L&J. The second issue (of many) was that they were beyond late to my destination. They guaranteed me a timeframe of a Friday to Wednesday. Closer to the move, said it would be Wednesday. Then on Monday told me it would be Thursday. Moved plans around and took my family from PA to FL on Wednesday, then they ended up coming on Saturday. I hate to say it, and I hate giving reviews, especially negative, but this company is an absolute rip off. They had no respect for my property or family and I never once received an apology or admission that what they did was wrong. They turned a very stressful and emotional time for my wife and kids and made it worse than we could have imagined or prepared for. If you chose this company, good luck. If you have another choice, go with it. Where I saved $2,000 on the move, I now have to pay over $5,000 for new carpets let alone the expenses they BARELY covered to stay in a hotel for the time they were out of contract.

L&J did a great job overall. Two minor glitches that could be improved upon: not all loose items were tagged and the stickers for tagging items didn't stick very well. Otherwise, service for the price point was outstanding.
