Jim, Anthony and Hombe were excellent. All provided fast, courteous service. Jim, the driver, went the extra mile and got our load reweighed when a weigh station worker gave him the wrong weigh ticket. His experience and knowledge of what the weight of our belongings should be made him concerned enough to reweigh the truck. His decision ultimately saved us thousands of dollars, and we are very grateful. Our belongings are here now safe and sound, 1,200 miles from where they started, without a scratch. We were so pleased with how well organized everything was, and I felt like the move coordinator help my hand all the way through the process. DeHaven's took as much stress as possible out of our move, so that we could focus on the important things, like the kids! Very disappointed! The one star is because no stars is not an option. Do NOT use De Haven's Moving and Storage under any circumstances! Now about to do battle with North American Van Lines over our claims which are significant. Even with full replacement insurance, our out of pocket loss will exceed $2000. Not counting lost time and aggravation. On packing day 2 men arrived telling us that the two other packers who were supposed to accompany them had been sent elsewhere. Result was that the packing did not get finished. In defense of the two men who did come, they did a good job. On moving day 4 people came, 1 who was to continue packing and the other 3 to move boxes and furniture. This was a second tier team and not skilled. The two men from the first day were sent to a bigger job in Charlotte. Crew worked in the morning, left for lunch at 11:45. After 2 hours we were concerned about the lengthy lunch hour and called De Haven. Crew returned close to 3:00. Informed that we needed to be out of our house that night, they began to hurry and stopped being careful. Started to pack our art works together without proper protection in appropriate boxes. My husband caught some of this and insisted the pictures be repacked correctly. Took 3 trips from De Haven for the right boxes to be brought. With our efforts to do our own packing b/c everything was going into storage, we did not track all the pieces/boxes going out to make sure everything was inventoried. Big mistake on our part! Two painting valued over $1000 were never inventoried. We missed this mistake so our claim was denied. Long distance move was from Raleigh NC to Redmond (outside Seattle) WA. Total panic at this end b/c the truck did not arrive within delivery window. Driver of our goods went silent, did not answer calls/respond to email from moving company. He finally surfaced, claimed personal problems. Our goods which were supposed to be delivered no later than 5/18/17 were finally delivered on 5/22. Warehouse in Durham lost the stone top of a sofa console almost 5 ft. in length -- apparently never inventoried separately from the base. Also lost a box containing two square framed prints between which they'd packed a small round glass table top. Finish on the base of our coffee table was damaged b/c it was not sufficiently padded. The base of our glass topped dinette table was wrapped, but subsequent handlers inverted the base leading to damage of the top of the base. 3 boxes packed by owner were lost. The glass shelf from our buffet was broken because the movers left it in the buffet to rattle around during transit. The glass of a framed piece of art was broken -- one of those pieces inadequately wrapped. Multiple pieces of furniture were scratched or gouged. Bottom line: This was the worst move of our life!

I wish I could put no stars. Their admin was the WORST I have ever dealt with. She had no clue what was going on. Told me my things were going to be picked up one day, after no one showed (and a day off work), she said, oops--sorry. it's Monday. So now 3 days off, 4 days late on delivery at the other end. NEVER use them. The salesman also lied to me about how things would get done. Claimed it's because northamerican took over, HAVE THEY NEVER WORKED WITH THEM BEFORE?!?! They are joint on the website, thought they would be more professional than this. Needless to say, NEVER AGAIN. and to get money back takes WEEKS.

Nicole came to my house and did a survey. After a week of not hearing back I called and spoke to a Tracy who said Nicole was on vacation but she would find out about the quote and call me back. That was five days ago and i am still waiting................

Zero. Insane. Bizarre. Unreal. I tried to work with them for about 2 months the year before in accounting which was impossible. The controller and his wife who was head of accounting LITERALLY had like 1 foot high stacks of loose papers ALL over their desks with dozens of unpaid bills buried in them, Dozens and dozens of lost, unopened, unpaid bills buried everywhere, bills going back for almost 1 year. They had no idea what they owed anyone because the records were almost non-existent. No calendars to pay bills. Nothing. They could not find files because their files were all over the floors and desks, often never put back. About 1/3 of their paychecks would bounce every week. They owed 10s of thousands of dollars to the city and vendors. It was disorganization like you would see in a horror or fantasy movie. The owner is a nice, gentle man, but he refuses to correct employees when they need it. If you are a vendor considering doing business with DeHaven's, do not do business with them. YOU WILL NOT BE PAID. Very sad, because it is about a 60 year old company and the owners parents worked hard to build this business up and it is has been nearly ruined. Sad. This company really needs to be shut down at least because of unpaid debt.

This is the second move I've done with Dehaven's. Robert and his crew beautifully handled my family's move from Durham to North Raleigh. I was so impressed and pleased with the number of men who arrived to handle the job. Robert and his team brought all the right equipment to disassemble and reassemble beds and pack or pix, mirrors and TVs. Thoughtful about how they handled my mother's antique piano and all of the rest of our furniture. It was a tough job and long couple of days. Up and down 3 floors and they did it all with smiles. I hate that I can't recall the guys' names but they were all fantastic. Thank you Robert for a pleasure of a move! Will be totally recommending you to everyone!

HORRIBLE. Everything was fine planning the move/arranging storage-then everything else was unacceptable. The movers were slow, arguing with eachother and several items were carelessly damaged and our new house walls and stairs were a mess after the move. One item was broken in half during storage-and claim was reported at the time. Lionel (the owner) failed to respond-several emails ignored, and just said "its out of my hands", Lionel CLEARLY does not care about this business or his customers. DO NOT use this moving company-you will be very disappointed. **We were charged 100% MORE than the estimate that we were given prior to the move... really? NO accountability whatsoever. Please let my terrible experience allow you to avoid this mess. This was a move within Wilmington, NC.

Jim Corry, our driver, did an outstanding job during our move from beginning to end. Not having moved for many years, we weren't sure what kind of service to expect. Jim texted us the day before to tell us what time to expect him and his loading crew. All showed up on time and began by protecting our floors, staircase and certain wall corners. Packing and loading took two full days. The guys packed "everything that wasn't nailed down", not sparing boxes or wrapping paper. Again, Jim notified us a day in advance of his arrival from NC to GA with our belongings. Off loading went as smoothly with placement of all and reassembly of some furniture. We could not have been more pleased.

My customer service rep and local manager, were both incapable of following through on his word. Customer rep provided incorrect/false information that after he left this company (based on information provided by his own team and General Manager from local team in NC), general manager made excuses for his lack of follow through and lied about changing my move delivery window. Also, company was not truthful on terms and conditions and were not well explained. After the delivery of my goods, damages were found and it has been a nightmare to get this resolve. Local General Manager said that I will be provided with final weight and charges for my move and never received anything from anyone from this company. Stay away from this company. Terrible customer services

The crew & driver was very nice and helpful on site so no complaints there. My fragile/china was marked but was still put on bottom of book stacks. Several of my boxes were crushed or split. Several peices of the China I inherited are destroyed even though I wrapped them in thick bubble wrap. When putting a dresser in the bedroom, the door was damaged. Overall, I will probably not use North American Van lines for my next move.

Very pleased with initial phone consult, as well as the in person consult, but my satisfaction with this company ended less than 48 hours later. No estimate was emailed - was told to expect it the next day. Several calls and emails sent, all were ignored. Even when leaving a message with a live person, intended recipient never contacted me. Twice I spoke with a live person indicating that I needed my estimate, and that I needed it to reflect our change in services needed - change of move date and addition of storage for several days. When I did receive an estimate via email it was only for the original move date with no storage, and it was sent from an individual with whom I never spoke in the week and a half I spent trying to get much needed information. Employees were friendly and polite, but service left much to be desired.

They try but don’t succeed in performance. I would not recommend them to a friend. Poor coordination of good men; supervision is inadequate. Systems not in line with the work; movers don’t have shoe protectors so I had to buy some to protect my floors. No tools to work with, no ladder to reach safely etc. Lost two self packed boxes and had significant glass breakage from poor packing out of Illinois by another North American affiliate . Bummer !

We have done 4 corporate moves in the last 15 years and this way by far the worst experience from a moving company. I should have cancelled when the first round of packers were complaining of not getting paychecks on time. We were not assigned a contact person at the warehouse, they messed up on the dates (several times) and tried to blame the confusion on me except I had the emails to verify. Never did they apoligize even when they changed the delivery date without giving me the 1 week notice that was promised - so I had to do the unpack of a full load with out support due to the date change. Every time confronted it was someone elses fault. I had to call Greensboro to get even an apology and then when it was all over the GM did call and apologize and stated he would be really concerned if our case was happening often but it was just a bunch of miscommunications internally. I would stay far away from this moving company until they can get their act together unless you enjoy miscommunication, schedule chages and major stress! Just began working on my claim form.

My husband works here he gets paid on time every week. He is a out of town crew so if u were moving outta state he probablyhelped with your movewith david long brother of the owner. Their crew always has great reviews. Great service , they get your move done quick with little or no stress. Recommend them a 100 percent

I could not disagree more with most of the other post. Just goes to show it is easier to get bad reviews than to get a good one. DeHaven's handled my move from California to North Carolina. My family and I were so stressed by this huge life change, but DeHaven's walked us through each step of the process. The Move Manager keep us up to date on everything and the crews were professional and courteous. Would recommend them to everyone!

Moved from out of state... happy with the move coordinator, so friendly! Everything checked on inventory and showed up in GREAT condition!! My couch was even shrink wrapped and cushioned! Would definitely recommend!!

Terrible! This company should be ashamed! They give employees excuses as to why they can not pay them. Checks continuously bounce. Check cashing companies will not cash checks from this company anymore. Someone needs to do something about this! There is a video on Youtube of the cashier at the check cashing company refusing to cash their checks. Her exact words, "their checks are no good. They owe us thousands, we no longer cash checks from this company." The owner says he can not pay because his custmers aren't paying him. If you run a company... Do you render services before or after payment??? Thats like you grocery shopping, going to the counter and telling the cashier, I'll pay you next time. Pay your employees! Stop with the lies! Or turn the business over to someone that can run it! Many people have already quit! Someone needs to stand up for these employees!

De havens is such a joke. They suck! They don't pay their employees. They owe thousands of dollars to so many people and are in constant debt. Office staff is great but management absolutely sucks. They are always breaking people's belongings or damaging something. They tell the customers to file a claim and then never pay them their refund. The manager almost refuses to speak to customers when they ask to speak to the manager. Everyone I know that has either worked for them or used their moving services has nothing good to say. De havens takes advantage of all of their employees. Some employees are 4-5 checks behind. I do not recommend them to anyone for anything. They should be shut down. I feel bad for the people who work there and for the people who use them to move. DE HAVENS IS SO RIDICULOUS!!!!!!

The in home estimate was FAR below actual. I was charged an additional $600. If a proper estimate was given I may have reconsidered my other estimates. The estimate of weight was more than 1000lbs of actual. What is curious about this is I down sized my belongings considerable after the in-home estimate. This means that the estimator was likely nearly 2000 under His initial estimate. It seems like I was given a low estimate and price gouged on the backend without recourse. The home I moved from was 1660 square feet moving to an even smaller house. It took TEN HOURS for the team to pack and load my belongings. I repeat TEN HOURS. I reported this to the vendors office and was told that they were working to protect my belongings from the rain. This is very considerate however, they were able to back up to my garage and load the house. The packing was intricate. Imagine 2 yards of paper to protect a shot glass. I appreciate the care however it was overkill and unnecessary. It took my 3 hours to unpack my kitchen. And I have what feels like a tree worth of paper to recycle. Lastly, I thought they lost a box because items from one room were missing. No. I found antique glass that was in the living room thrown In with the pots and pans. I couldn’t watch them every step of the way. At least dealing with them is nearly over.

0 stars. We're in the process of moving today from NC to Maryland and so far, this experience could not be worse. We've had a contract for several months stating packing and moving for 2 days. The first day (yesterday) they didn't show up. No one even called to tell us. When we called, the dispatcher said they could do it all in one day (today) and would send additional crew to get the job done. Only 3 men showed up this morning and had no idea about the items we needed packed and moved. They said there's no way they can finish the job by 5 today, as we were adamantly promised by Ameera. They didn't have enough boxes for our items and didn't even know we have a hot tub to move (which was itemized on our contract). We called and demanded that additional movers come. The movers are nice but overall this is a clown show. The office staff at Dehavens has offered no apologies. I've moved 8 times over the last 17 years, 3 times cross country, and I've never experienced anything like this. If I make it through today without having a nervous breakdown it will be a miracle. I don't even want to think about the condition of our stuff upon arrival. We have insurance but may need to lawyer up on this one, as they are already in breach of our contract. I'll write a follow up after unpacking. But this a total disaster. A company with customer service this poor should not be in business. The better business bureau will also be contacted.

I have used DeHaven’s for both commercial and residential relocations, and I have only had positive experiences with my moves. I’ve had many different crews, and each crew was very professional and courteous. They work hard, and make sure that I am completely satisfied before leaving. And it’s amazing how versatile these guys are. I can request assistance with packing, storage, moving my house....but I can also call to have my offices relocated, disassemble high-dollar equipment, and coordinating multi-office people moves. There really isn’t anything these guys can’t do. I would recommend their services to anyone!
