My family and I employed Dumbo Moving for packing and moving based on their reputation for great customer service. To say we were sorely disappointed would be a huge understatement. We had previously used FlatRate moving and will probably go back to using them if we have to move again. I feel that we completely wasted thousands of dollars using Dumbo Moving. We were hugely inconvenienced, treated rudely and with disrespect, we incurred damages to our possessions, and our new neighbors were also inconvenienced and annoyed by the moving crew.

---------WARNING!! WARNING!!! DO NOT USE!!!--------- DISHONEST!!!! UNFAIR, GREEDY, RUDE & POOR LEADERSHIP by the owner with terrible business practices!! This company forces clients to repeatedly sign documents stating that any delays that are non-human error (i.e. traffic etc) are not their problem. They used this against me when they decided to book another move before mine and lied to me about doing so. They make you sign a document multiple times and pay in full and sign again making sure that you are basically hostage to whatever they want giving their clients zero rights to their agreed upon arrival times. They had asked my permission weeks prior to my move as to whether or not they could move my arrival window from 9am-11am to 1pm-3pm... and I firmly declined (in writing). On the day of the move they claim that their extremely late arrival of 2:20pm was due to 4 accidents and traffic (yet fell perfectly in THEIR desired window of arrival). Yet the actual movers (working for Dumbo) informed me that it was because they blew off our contract of the agreed upon 9am-11am and scheduled a 7am client before my move. The actual guys moving us said that even IF they finished the 7am job on time (which would have been 9am), that based on where they physically were, with NO traffic, they would have never been able to honor their arrival time due to the distance alone (logistically impossible). Dumbo Moving and Storage then continued to lie to me about the circumstances even though I have all the the proof in a recorded conversation (submitted to the Better Business Bureau). Their delays cost myself and my partner hundreds of dollars in losses due to moved appointments, extended hours of workers at our home who had to stay waiting for the movers (6 different workers!) in order to do their jobs. When I wrote Dumbo requesting a refund to at least cover our extra expenses that resulted from their human error in scheduling, they refused. They denied my claim stating that I communicated disrespectfully. It was a professional email to their team stating my case and questioned the legality of their workers (apparently its a VERY sensitive topic for them). Their business practices are terrible and their contracts put customers/clients in an almost helpless position. Luckily I have physical proof in the form of a recorded statement from the mover who was with us that day confirming that Dumbo did indeed choose to schedule another client before making their commitment to us of the 9am-11am, literally and physically impossible. This was a human choice, a decision from their team, and NOT unforeseen circumstances. The employee also confirmed that with human error, they also had the keys locked inside of their own truck, having to break a window to get inside since the office could not get them one. Additionally, it is confirmed that there were no crazy traffic accidents along the route that could have caused the over 3 hour delay. Additionally, I absolutely reserve the right to question the legality of a portion of their employees. My opinion on this matter is based on the multiple interactions I've had with the employees over several moves which lead me to believe that they may not only be taking advantage of clients with their contracting/booking process, but also taking advantage of men seeking work without proper work papers/visas. It became very clear after they had my money, that service was no longer important to them, nor was having a repeat client. They had the opportunity to professionally make things right in a reasonable manner and they chose to deny responsibility. I have now moved several times with Dumbo Moving and continue to have a positive experience. My recent move was a relocation from NYC to VA. Not only was pricing very fair, but the staff was helpful and accommodating with challenging building schedules. The Ernest crew assisted with my most recent move and were wonderful! They arrived on time, promptly coordinated with the building and were efficient and friendly. They took great care of my belongings and both apartment buildings. I have recommended Dumbo Moving for years, and continue to do so. You won’t find a better, more affordable mover in NYC!

I am a big review guy, I mean a BIG review guy. If I have all this information available to me while making a decision, why not use it? I was not looking forward to the process of moving from NYC to central Long Island at all, so I apprehensively dove into the process. The reviews for basically all moving companies were pretty scary, as it's a stressful time for people and undoubtedly things are to go wrong. I was moving during an extremely busy time of year (May 30th) with really just that one single day to pull it off. The first few big name companies that quoted me were over 2 GRAND and I have a tiny studio with 4 medium/large pieces of furniture and 5 boxes of clothes. Eventually I found Dumbo Moving, and right off the bat Eric was very professional, courteous, and clear in his quote and explanation of services. All that was required was a 10% deposit to hold reservation. On the day of the move, Dimitri (and his friend who's name I forget) showed up on time, with a reminder call, and got right to work. They worked fast and efficiently, with care for my belongings. Within 90 minutes we were on the road to LI. This company follows through on all of their promises and services, and I promise the price cannot be beat. Will recommend to all friends and family here forward.

My overall experience with Dumbo Moving & Storage Inc. was excellent from the initial call to receive a quote up to moving day. Customer service specifically with Service representative James responded within minutes with a reasonable quote. I had a feeling he is a friend who wants to help. Dumbo moving & storage Inc., was not a first company to whom I called. We are moved to high rise building with many requirements which not all moving companies can satisfy. (For example: insurance not accepted by building, or covered floor from Freight elevator to my apartment, etc…) Dumbo contacts the building management on my behalf and coordinated all requirements. The day of the moving they call me before scheduled time and arrived on time. The movers were very polite, accurate and professional. Nothing was broken or missing. When we arrived at new address they communicate with Doorman, deliver and put all furniture and boxes exactly as per my directions. The service is exceptional and I would without a doubt recommend Dumbo moving & storage Inc.

I thought I got good price and was happy with the arrangement but the senior guy who actually did the moving was very grouchy and unfair to other junior guys. As the junior ones were asking politely where to put the furniture, he bullied and rushed them. I also believe that we are short of couple of boxes which did not make it to the new place. I don’t recommend them. Desk part of the job was fine but physical work did not meet the expectations. Who quotes and who does the actual job are day and night kind of different, so there seems always resentment and poor quality job in this business.

I think your experience will vary with which team you get, but personally, I was lucky to have Ernes and his team move me. Moving is a stressful experience and having lived in NYC for 10 years, I’ve moved a lot. I was referred to Dumbo by a friend and this was the best moving experience I’ve had. This review is for the particular team that was sent for my move. Day of moving: Ernes called 15 minutes before the agreed pickup time and informed me they were close and just finding parking. He came up first and reviewed the inventory list with me so we were clear. He was extremely professional and efficient. They got the job done quickly and even took my items set aside to donate for me. At my new apartment, they again efficiently set up my furniture and nothing was damaged or left behind. A final note: again, moving is hard and stressful under any circumstance. This was an especially hard one for me, but Ernes was both professional and upbeat. He was positive and had a reassuring manner, making it as smooth and easy as could be. I have since referred him to a couple other friends as well and they have all been impressed and satisfied.

Buyer beware! As soon as they arrived they wanted us to sign something and then they said they were going to start the move. Once we signed it five minutes later they said 'oh we're not going to be able to move everything in your storage for that price'. The movers tried to make a side deal with cash and they said they wouldn't tell the company. I was certainly not going for that. I'm not that type of person to do any shyster stuff. So we sent them on their way. Now we have to fight with our credit card company to get our money back. Unbelievable. Save yourself the headache and go with someone else.

They lie and scam their customers. Firstly I had a quote which I accepted and was told multiple times that I was under the delivery minimum. When the movers turned up their trick is to call the office to make up extra charges to get you to pay because at that point you have no choice as you have already paid for the whole move and you need to move out. So upon pick up which they were 5 hours late for, they tried to charge me an extra $260, I called Ana and she said it was for my headboard that I didn’t put on the inventory. First lie because the inventory I have on email from them says ‘bed including mattress’. After realizing they were wrong and they couldn’t con me on this because it’s in writing, they then made up another $102 charge when I even took less items than was on my original inventory - I minused a dresser which is a large item. Knowing that I had to move out that day I had to pay the $102. Then when they came to drop my stuff off they then charged me another $100 to carry my stuff down the hallway to my apartment. I arranged it so that they can park directly outside and the elevator was literally as you enter the building. The worst part of this was they told me they had delivered all of my belongings, another lie. When I asked where my $300 mirror was the driver told me it was broken and still in the van. He then showed me a text from Vlad at Dumbo movers advising him not to tell me that my property had been broken. They were basically hoping that I hadn’t realized, so they were not going to tell me until I asked where it was. The video clearly showed that they had not properly packed it so it was due to their negligence. When I claimed for compensation, they offered me $100 on the proviso that I wouldn’t write any negative comments on social media, so basically bribery. This was not even a third of what my property was worth and they said basically they were doing me a favor because they should only be paying me 60 cents per lb of my damaged property which I understand was in the contract. I then spoke to their claims manager Anthony who had the worst attitude ever and literally screamed at me throughout the whole conversation. When I said I would take this to court if they didn’t offer me satisfactory compensation he accused me of extortion. This company is an absolute joke, due your due diligence and go with a reputable company that wouldn’t take advantage of people during a stressful time. It’s a real shame that you treat customers this way.

DUMBO Movers did a great job helping us move (SAME DAY) from Boston to Manhattan!! Special shout out to Ernest and Sam, who were terrific. They were productive, efficient and thorough --all while being extremely amiable, personable and friendly. We had some extremely heavy boxes and a ton of furniture and they moved everything with significant ease. It took them less than 2 hrs to pick up our items and not even 2 full hours to move everything up a 4th floor walk up! We can't recommend Sam and Ernest more highly enough.

I've used Dumbo Moving 3 times. Each time I had 1 bad experience that I chalked up to being particular to that day, and made the error of trying them again as their price was so good. After this last time I have to believe that the unprofessionalism is company wide, and I will never use them again. My last move with them was two weeks ago. I experienced confrontational customer service that treats each conversation like a negotiation with an adversary, with the representative raising his voice to me on multiple occasion. Packing was painfully slow as they move about at a casual pace, often stopping to talk on the phone, sometimes all three disappear for 10 minutes, presumably 'packing the truck'. My one bedroom apt took 5 hours to pack, when in the past it took 2-3 hours. Granted there was a long hallway, which takes 50 seconds to walk. The movers were all very nice, but their oversight and lax attitude has led to the loss of two items.The last time my Crate & Barrel stool disappeared. This time a brand new pair of pants, still packaged and tagged, never made it to my new home. They quickly offered me 10% of the value and said they were removing themselves from this claim. This time my expensive kitchen knives were tossed in a box, unwrapped. If you like good kitchen knives you'll know how damaging this is to them. As they were not individually wrapped the edges were not, now they are dull and slightly chipped. Somehow two screws went missing on my bed, causing a wobbles ion the head bnaord, that's new. I thought being a repeat customer would count for something, but apparently even courtesy is too much to ask for. I generally tip well and even bought the movers lunch the first two times. I did not sign off on anything after the move, as they claim.

Brooklyn resident for past 5 years. Lived overseas as well as various parts of NY and moved many times. I have to admit I was nervous about the move using Dumbo after reading some negative reviews. I have to say that now AFTER the move has been completed, it was by far the most professional moving company I have ever used! Niko and his team were pleasant to deal with and extremely accommodating as well as hard working. If I could give them 10 stars I would. Make sure you are upfront about your moving needs and your true list of inventory items. You will have no surprises and excellent service. When doing our research, Dumbo Moving started our very promising: they were extremely helpful on the phone and got someone to come out to survey our apartment for an item count to determine the price quote for our upcoming cross-country move from NYC. They let us know that it would be $2100 - we signed all the paperwork to move forward. The movers came on time with the set number of boxes, planned by the surveyor. As they were packing, they made numerous phone calls only in Russian. When they were almost finished, they let us know that we had more items than we originally planned for. As a result, they were going to have to increase the price. The mover on-site said it'd be about $500-800 more than the original estimate. We were especially surprised because we sold a good amount of items in our apartment and we had the surveyor purposely come out to provide us with an estimate so this scenario wouldn't occur. When the mover got off the phone with the office, he said we'd be receiving a new quote to sign before moving forward. You can imagine our surprise when it was over double the original estimate - we were shocked! We asked him to call the office back so we could get more clarity. They explained to us that it was our fault for giving them the wrong number of items and we could either pay or they'd be happy to leave our boxes on the side of the road. We were stunned and appalled at how the manager (I believe his name was Steve) spoke to us - he was extremely rude and said that "the company doesn't care about our review, feedback or experience with the company" and Dumbo "doesn't need your money, so pay up or don't, we don't care either way." When we called him out on it, he said he was being respectful because he was calling us "sir & ma'am." At that point, we had to be out of our apartment that day and was left with no other choice but to continue by paying the additional fee. In addition, the movers were still asking for a high tip, saying the price increase was not their fault. However, the way they packed our items was unprofessional (threw the electronics in one box, resulting in scratches and some items broken, etc.). Upon unpacking, we were happy to find that most of our items arrived however, our power drill set was stolen from the bottom of a large storage container, a leg from our nightstand was broken off and picture frame was chipped (both due to the lack of care/packing prep). The mover who delivered our items was much more professional and counted all of the boxes with us but unfortunately, it wasn't enough to change our perception of our experience with the movers and management in New York.

I would give lower if possible. We had a super stressful move after finding bed bugs in our apartment. They guys made it even more stressful and used the opportunity to charge us extra at every turn ($300 in extra charges!!!!). We were told these guys could do the fumigation move we were looking to do (pick up all of our stuff one day, drive to fumigation site, leave overnight for $200 fee, and then delivery the next day). These guys contracted out the move. They rescheduled on us 3 times for pickup. The morning of delivery, they rescheduled again. My partner and I had to switch who was taking off work after the switch. Then, we found new bed bug bites. We freaked out, obviously. We called them immediately to ask if they could hold off on delivery while we went into crisis mode. Called the doctor and the fumigation company. They explained that these could be old bites that were just showing (bites can take up to 14 days to appear). We called back and spoke to Danny who was managing our account. We explained that we were ok with getting the delivery that day. Note: this all happened within 35 mins. He told us it was too late and that the truck was fully unloaded and the drivers were gone. The fumigation place was in Long Island City. The storage facility was in Jersey. We knew this was not humanly possible. The GPS at the time showed that the drive was 55 mins minimum, and that was before unloading. I accused them of not being honest and reitterated the facts, the GPS time, the size of the job, etc. They said that the guys drove fast and had helpers on the other end. I asked for the address so I could come see my supposedly unloaded items. Danny put me on hold. He then came back and admitted that the things actually weren't unloaded. He screamed at us when we called him a liar and still refused to deliver our things unless we paid $300 extra ($150 for a change fee and $150 for a new unloading fee). We were being held hostage, so we had to pay the $300. When the drivers got there (remember: they had to reschedule themselves in the am and they still got there at 12, the time they had rescheduled to), the drivers confirmed that they weren't even on the highway yet, so it was easy to hold until they got further info. They confirmed they never went to the storage facility and it wasn't much of a hassle for them at all. They were also sub-contractors who were not really affiliated with Dumbo. We weren't going to tip at first since we were so tight on money after the bed bug move. However, we felt bad for the actual drivers who were super kind, efficient, and from a different company. So, we tipped anyway. Called today to get a refund after the fiasco. Spoke to the man who answered the phone. His name was Nem. I asked to speak to a manager or supervisor. He asked for phone # associated with the account. When I gave it to him, he said that he was the team leader and Danny's boss (very convenient that the manager answered!!). He said that despite the notes that showed the trail of events that matched our story and the fact that Danny lied that the best they could offer us was a $50 good faith refund and 15% off of a future move. They started screaming at me when I stated how unfair I thought this was. We do have one more move to do, as we are combining apartments, but we would rather pay more to a more honest and reliable company. HARD PASS ON DUMBO MOVING. NOT RECOMMENDED. YOU CAN FIND ANOTHER COMPANY EASILY. SUPER BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE. NOT WORTH IT. LOOK ELSEWHERE.

We just finished leg one of a cross country move with truck 17 and it couldn’t have gone better! 4 awesome guys showed up early, worked efficiently and carefully and even took time to scratch my dog in between heavy lifting :) they wrapped all fragile things thoroughly and I’m only sad I won’t get the same crew for leg 2! The manager Steve was unprofessional and rude on the phone. Dumbo charged an extra $250 for hidden fees at the time of moving. It ended up costing close to 1K for a one bedroom move. The movers were nice and effective but the business is run by deceitful staff with a dishonest quote.

Just completed a Lower East Side Manhattan move with Dumbo and couldn't be happier. Was considering just renting a uhaul with friends but had to move into a 5 story walk up so we decided to go with professionals, and it made a huge difference. Moma and his team were super professional and also really nice and helpful. Was a little worried after reading some of the reviews on here but in my experience they couldn't have done a better job. Would recommend.

USE A DIFFERENT COMPANY! I used them as they advertised you don't have to be finished packing. As if there wouldn't be any pressure. I am disabled so it's difficult to manage a lot. Don't believe it's ok to not be finished packing and don't expect for all of your items to get to your new location as mine didn't. Also, don't expect Several items to not be damaged or broken. As it was hard to pack, it was also hard to unpack. So it has taken me a while. Things like my pictures I had hung on the walls and stereo equipment I didn't necessarily need to hook up imediately, I didn't fully unpack. Now I see I'm missing my eldest sons large newborn picture along with other items that I kept having a feeling that they were missing. I was in my other apartment for 14 years and there wasn't anyone really helping me watch the movers so they saw they could basically do what they wanted and I wouldn't know. I acquired a lot of things over those years and with 2 children. I'm upset also that basically I tipped them $100 to rip me off. If you can afford another moving company, change. If you can have people shadow the movers if you have to use this company, I would strongly suggest that. I wish someone would have warned me about them. Definitely Use a different moving company.

The movers were punctual, polite, and careful. I’ve used several different moving companies in New York but none compare to the quality and value of Dumbo Moving. I recently returned to NY and had my stuff delivered on April 4, 2019. I'm happy to report that all aspects of the move went smoothly and my things were delivered intact. I got the best quote from This company base on my items . The crews came on time and did excellent job packing and loading my stuffs . I had few extra stuff by the end and I was willing to pay extra if the charged , the didn’t charge any penny more . The company had told me ,my stuffs would take 5-10 days to deliver to new address which was in another state . To my surprise they came way before the time frame , again the crews did amazing job . I don’t plan on moving anytime soon , but if I did , I will definitely use this company . I can’t name all of them , but the person I dealt with is called Danny , he was very easy to work with . I was given this companies name from a friend who moved with them. Obviously it's always great to have referrals but you just never know. I'm happy to say that referral paid off and this company is a very professional outfit. In the build up, my sales person (Andrew) was very good at getting me a quote. He didn't mind that I needed to change a few things in the build up which was helpful. The day of the move was good, the movers very courteous and arrived on time. There truck is huge so it easily fit all our stuff from our 2 bedroom. The movers made short work of moving our stuff up a 4 floor walk up and disassembled and reassembled items with ease. Would highly recommend and will certainly use them again.

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY they are con artist from the front desk down to the packers and movers. I can’t describe it all or I’ll be here all day. The movers were rude and constantly talked in polish ( I’m all for speaking your own language but they were obviously doing it to talk about ways to get over) they insisted in the end on a huge tip (10percent of my 6000 tab) speaking of my final cost we were initially charged half of that until moving day . Anyway back to the movers . They kept trying to make me give them money for in return they wouldn’t tell moving company I have more items. (They were helping me in their own words) . As for the office side they sold me on days of delivery that ended up being way way off and when I would complain I get broken English rude emails in return . I can go on and on . In the end I should of read past the first few fake reviews and researched better. Will def Be reporting them. I highly suggest not using them

It was easy and fast to request a quote through their website. The price was very competitive. I was able to call the sales rep and update my inventory as it got closer to move day and I had a better idea of what was moving. My buildings required COIs which they sent promptly. Zero stars. This company is a scam and charged me a $300 mark up after arriving at my place. I called the day before for the price to move exactly 9 pieces of furniture to a spot 10 min away. They first quoted me $950. I declined then they called back a minute later offering a price for $470, having “accidentally” used the wrong zone code. I accepted. They showed up and didn’t have three of the items on their list, including the beds, but wanted the same amount. They upcharged on both beds a total of $265 plus other non-disclosed costs. The best part is, they charged me for a same-day request on the beds (the $265) despite their screw up, even after the phone operator admitted to accidentally leaving the beds off the day before. (Same day request was $100 more than the day before.) Terrible customer service. They could’ve at least given me the price for not same day moving. They knew I had no options and offered no compromise. Total rip off artists. Fraudsters. I am considering filing suit against them. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES.

I moved last week and had a good experience with Dumbo Movers truck / crew 61. I choose the option with the plastic bins which makes life a lot easier to not have to breakdown boxes. I felt like the company as a whole was very prompt and on time and in constant communication. Even when I made a major error with not double checking my new apartment's address which caused Crew 61 to put in a lot more extra work for nothing...they got the move back on track quickly and were kind.

Save yourself the hassle and just book with another company. Like many others I fell for the reviews here. Maybe they used to be reputable, but I had only negative experiences with this company. They are guaranteed to extort you for more money on the day of your move when you are helpless. Prepare to have your cost increase by 20-30% on the day of your move when you are helpless and have no choice but to pay. The movers got a parking ticket on our day and said we had to pay in cash. We called the office and asked what their policy is on parking tickets and they told us it was our responsibility to pay. Well sure enough it is illegal to force your customer to pay for your parking ticket. After they added it to our invoice we called and said we won’t be paying it, at which point it was a “suggested tip” which was coincidentally the same amount as our ticket. Lastly, make sure to inventory all your boxes before and after your move, some of our things ended up missing. Save yourself the hassle and headache and just use another company.

9/7/2019 Use this company at YOUR OWN RISK and PERIL !! They just put me through the worst experience in over 35 years of moving internationally and domestically ! Moving is stressful for all of us and involves a lot of logistics for the customer. Timing is everything. So when the manager for the company cancels the move 24 hours before the agreed date and refuses to discuss his decision in a civil, professional manner you can imagine how that customer would feel ! That customer was me !! I"ll now let you know how I arrived in this 'Dumbo sized' nightmare. I had discussed the move with several companies and felt that the representative from Dumbo, Nem, was one of the more thorough and professional, and seemed to have a good grasp of the nuances of moving. I then decided after reading a few reviews to give my business and trust to him and Dumbo. I was doing a 2 day move, being packed on Labor Day, loaded and moved the following day. They had asked for a deposit which I promptly gave them and I was in contact with Nem, on a daily basis, for the days leading up to the moving weekend. In fact, I spoke with him twice on the Saturday afternoon, where we both agreed to a slight adjustment of the pack from the Labor Day morning to the afternoon. He told me he was off on Sunday but to reach out on Monday if there was anything I needed. Fine.... or so I thought !! After partially packing myself through the Saturday night and into the early hours of Sunday I went to bed exhausted. At shortly after 7.30 AM Sunday I started to receive a barrage of texts from Dumbo saying 'was I ready for them that afternoon' [ this is ominous I thought, they already got the day wrong ! ]. So, I messaged back to say that the agreed appointment was the following afternoon. Then, the messager, who I later found out to be STEPHEN, the manager, started to demand immediate full payment for the balance, which I had no issue with EXCEPT that it was Sunday 7.45AM and I was exhausted and half asleep in bed and I told him to call back at a civil hour like 10AM when I would obviously take care of matters. Also, I mentioned that despite his manic insistence for immediate payment that never once in my Saturday conversations with his colleague had I been told I was being tardy over that issue. I then received the following message ''OK, THE JOB IS OFF THE SCHEDULE COMPLETELY SINCE THERE IS NO REAL CONFIRMATION....CANNOT WORK ON VAGUE INFORMATION'' . This character was making it up as he went along, he was being beyond unreasonable and demanding considering the circumstances and time. ALSO, it was NOT vague, the job was in the books and on the schedule !! I then was forced to call him to try to sort this out in a civil adult manner but he just screamed down the phone to me '' Get another company, the job is off '' and slammed down the phone and then refused to take my calls. His behavior had for no reason become psychotic, rude, unprofessional and downright aggressively unpleasant. For Dumbo to have a manager that obviously has unjustified anger management issues is a telling knock against how that company is run. There are further displeasing elements to this whole episode but for brevity's sake I won't go into them here. The bottom line was that I had to get another company in at very short notice later the following week and I had to pay a price accordingly. I also had to pay my landlords additional rent for the extra time I occupied the apartment until I finally vacated. Finally, there is not a price that can be put on the stress and hardship this company caused my wife and I. I did try to follow up with Dumbo the following week but unsurprisingly they never responded. Furthermore let me say, I've owned and run businesses for over 35 years and have never remotely treated customers as they do regardless the circumstances! STAY AWAY.....YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED !

This Corporation is a bunch of Thieves their movers are thieves. Management particularly the claims area very rude and they're very disrespectful. I'm reporting these people to the Better Business Bureau and consumer affairs they are a bunch of Thieves. After moving my items on March 28th 2019 unboxing my items I noticed one whole box was missing and this box contain my work boots expensive bags Etc ( I used no other Moving Service other than these creeps), contacting the claims apartment today May 15 to 2019 they're going to tell me that they're not responsible for my missing parcel???!!. On the day of my move I tipped these jerks $200 had I have known that one of my big boxes would end up missing which contained my work boots I would have put on the different hat and had every single one of them arrested.

These movers are great, they are fast when giving you a quote and even let you do a mock quote online so you can see the prices. Every other mover has two extra steps until you even know what you’re paying. They were the most affordable I could find for a five floor nyc walk up to a three story Brooklyn townhome. Truck 055 was kind, fast, and packed my items with care. The whole move took about an hour and a half from Manhattan to Brooklyn. When the movers accidentally forgot my tv on board they immediately informed me they were on their way back soon. I recommend these guys to my friends now.

All I can say is I'm glad I didn't see those negative reviews before booking my move. Dumbo Moving was fantastic. Moving apartments in NY is stressful, and it's even more stressful when I decided on a Saturday evening that I wanted to move that next Sunday. Thankfully, Dumbo Moving responded to my quote request on Sunday morning with what I considered to be an incredibly reasonable rate (less than I was expecting, that's for sure!), and by that afternoon, they had three guys at my apartment, packing things up. When they got to my new apartment, they placed things carefully and efficiently, and left without any extra charges, despite the fact that they had to carry my sofa up a flight of stairs because it didn't fit in the elevator. They provided me 10 storage bins that I could have for a week while I unpacked, but since I was working during the day and out of town the following weekend, they were kind enough to let me keep the bins for an extra week since we couldn't find a time to schedule the pickup earlier than that. Honestly, I have zero complaints. It was a super last minute move and they did it perfectly.

I booked it online, they offered the best price in NYC! Russ from sales helped set up the Reservation. Our building COI was a demanding process but they were prompt with responding and coordinated with both buildings. On the moving day, William and his team arrived early and got to work right away. They helped tape the boxes and wrapped up all monitors and tv in the blankets. Took really good care of everything to ensure there was no damage. It literally finished in 2 hours. It’s probably because we didn’t have furniture to move. Overall, moving was a breeze thanks to Dumbo! Recommended 100%!

Called and described what I wanted to have moved. I gave them my address and the rep said they know my Buikding. They gave me a quote: Movers arrived , began loading the furniture. I receive a text : you must pay an additional fee because the drivers had to park 100 feet from the elevators. 25% Increase. We all know how stressful moving day can be. I ask them to call me. Man states if I do not pay I will have the movers stop. I completely understand the moving company has to pay their employees an hourly wage and more time at a site means more costs for them. However, when a representative at the time of booking my move tells me they are aware of my Buikding and have moved tenants from my building charge me for that. We agreed on a price and then wants to me pay online ASAP otherwise movers will leave the furniture in the loading area. Do you want to experience this ? The two stars are for the employees who moved me. 0 stars for the company extortion policies.

The service was bad and not even close to what I expected. My furniture was broken during the move. The company refuses to pay the price of the furniture and instead offers a reimbursement based on the weight of the product. They are only reimbursing approx. 30% of the cost. Further, some of my things were left on the truck and the truck went to its next job with my stuff in it. Total nightmare!! Honestly, it might be way easier and less stressful to just do the move Yourself. or pay a bit more and get a better service. Do not recommend.

Dumbo was priced higher than the competition, but we were ok with that because of the high level of customer service we were led to believe we'd receive. As it turns out, Dumbo's customer service was the worst we've ever received. Our move suffered from a severe language barrier, which resulted in items that weren't meant to be moved being boxed up and put on the truck. We had to spend the days immediately following our move packing up the things that belonged at our old apartment and taking them back. Additionally, a lampshade, two picture frames, and a box spring were broken during the move. Our move coordinator didn't follow up with us until we reached out to him twice. When we told him that the move didn't go as expected and that the movers had actually packed and moved things they'd been instructed not to move, he insisted it was evidence of his workers going above and beyond. He completely didn't care about the broken items. We asked for a discount on our move, but the best he offered was a discount on our next move with Dumbo, which will never happen. All in all, really bad customer service from our smart aleck move coordinator. Can't recommend.

I was charged several hundred dollars more than their estimate because I had more boxes than they thought. Note that there was not more stuff than they expected, but just that the boxes I used were smaller than the large ones they like. So that was disappointing, but what could I do. The person in charge was very difficult to understand, and to make it worse, seemed impatient and unfriendly right from the beginning. In spite of all this, I gave the three guys (the other two were nice) a great tip, and not even a smile or thank you in return. I will not use this company again.

Everything went smoothly with Dumbo Moving. I left an email to Dumbo to contact them and someone got back in touch within a few hours. I told him the two pieces of furniture that I needed to picked up in Brooklyn and delivered to my condo in Midtown. Their quote was a among the lowest. They also were able to email me a filled in copy of a Certificate of Insurance the next day. It is required by my building. On the day of the move the mover texted me they were going to pickup the item. They also kept informed about their timing since traffic was very bad in Manhattan. I had gone with DUMBO after using them in the past. I had even recommended them to several friends. This time, however, I was very disappointed after using them for a long-distance move. Not only was a major proverbial ball dropped, but the dismissive attitude I received after calling to talk through the issue completely turned me off from ever recommending them again. In short, why on earth would they NOT mention the plans to bring an 18-wheeler—an 18-wheeler!—into a major city and to make sure your storage facility could accommodate it? Why would transferring to a smaller truck not be automatically added on if the destination is an urban address? Why would you completely lack empathy when a customer calls to express their dissatisfaction? Here’s what happened, longer version: They came to pick-up at my apartment in Brooklyn with ~24’ truck. Not a single hiccup. Everyone was professional and diligent; great experience. While I would have preferred more than 24 hours’ notice as to when my stuff was going to arrive in my new city, I understand compromise. But boy was I surprised when I found out—about five hours before arrival—that they had planned to bring an 18-wheeler into the middle of a major city, on a two-lane street with parking on both sides, and to a storage facility that couldn’t accommodate the 70-80’ tractor and trailer. At the last minute, I had to find a new storage facility. Since none in the city could handle such a large vehicle, I had to get one about 25 miles away. Given the density of traffic where I am, this can be an hour each way due to traffic jams. When I called a few days later to register my disappointment with the salesperson with whom I booked the move, I was condescendingly dismissed. Real attitude. “Why do you think we send all those emails? Did you not read the contract?” Well, yes, let’s discuss the contract. There’s one bullet point that didn’t register with me when I first read it—I had a few things going on in my upending my life to move 700+ miles away after all—it mentions that an extra fee would be charged if “no access for a 53 foot truck!” Got it. But that doesn’t read to me like “we’re bringing an 18-wheeler to your major city,” especially since my truck had to be larger than 53’ if you include the tractor. I couldn’t believe that a company that does long-distance moves hadn’t notice the very obviously urban address of my new location. It was an upsell opportunity for them after all and I would have gladly paid the ~$250 fee to do a shuttle service rather than deal with the last-minute stress. Never mind having to deal with being spoken to like I’m the one with two heads, like I was a complete idiot for not knowing the ins and outs of long-distance logistics. I’ve done a long-distance move only a few times in my life; DUMBO does long-distance moves several times a week I am sure. I remember asking the sales guy, “So this is normal to you? To schedule an 18-wheeler into the middle of a city—without any highway that allows trucks being nearby for miles—and NOT bring it up with the customer?” Just got a “Yes,” in a dismissive, the-customer-is-the-problem tone. I do believe it’s perfectly reasonable to assume that when the moving company knows to show up at your apartment in a city in a ~24’ truck that the same thing will happen on the other end. I also believe it’s perfectly reasonable to be verbally advised that they recommend getting a shuttle service to a smaller truck if the destination is in an urban environment. Or that a shuttle fee would be automatically added to the quote if an urban destination address is given. My advice for DUMBO: It’s your job to know how to move a home and find out what a customer will require for their move to be smooth. Train your sales staff to anticipate the needs of the ENTIRE move; It’s their job to educate the customer and to sell more services. And train them to not be obnoxious and confrontational when a customer complains. So much for my loyalty. So much for my referrals. So much for my business.

RUN RUN FAR AWAY, THE WORST EXPERIENCE WITH THEM. I WAS CHARGED ANOTHER $365 ON TOP OF MY BASE PRICE $695 FOR EXTRA 10 BOXES. MOVERS LITERALLY WALKED IN AND PICKED UP THE SMALLEST BOXES AND REFUSED TO MOVE ANYTHING ELSE UNTIL I MADE A PAYMENT. I WAS BASICALLY BACKED INTO A CORNER TO PAY MORE TO HAVE THEM CONTINUE TO WORK. DO NOT HIRE, DON'T EVEN GET ME STARTED ON THE BROKEN ITEMS I FOUND ONCE I OPENED MY BOXES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We used Dumbo moving in July 2019. We did an online quote which increased once we spoke to a person. Unfortunately you pay per box and we had bought small boxes to make it easier to move, and we ended up having to pay TWICE the amount quoted! All this last minute when the movers were already at the front door. We were therefore caught off guard and had to accept the payment. Honestly, this is poor management on their part. They should send a person to evaluate the content and have an agreed price PRIOR to the move. Seriously, not a great company. The movers were nice!

I got a referral discount from a friend who had moved with them three times. The price was reasonable. This company is unreliable and and unreasonable!! I would not recommend to anyone.!! I had planned to move today after consulting with the company a week beforehand. I had explained everything regarding the total amount of boxes, bed, drawers, china cabinet, the floor I lived in, etc. They told me that each bed and each dresser would cost 200$ each. However, when they arrived, they refused to move the items claiming that I hadn’t mentioned the number of items. They only sent in 2 men and said that it was too much work to do by themselves. They roamed around my apartment and two hours later, they said they would only move my belongings if I paid an extra 1140$ because they needed “extra padding” for my China cabinet and to disassemble my bed because it had a head board. In the end when we asked how much it would be just for the boxes they said it would cost 200$ less for the original price( so no bed, no dresser, no china cabinet). They specifically said “200$ for each large item and now that we aren’t taking them, they only wanna reduce a small amount. Overall, they wasted my time and now I have to search for a last min mover.

All three phases of my move were amazing and relatively stress free (no move is completely stress free, but Dumbo didn’t add any stress!) Starting with my girlfriend’s move last month, the movers picking up were early, professional and knew their stuff very well. The movers for the pickup from storage and my place at were PHENOMENAL! They were the same thing. Showed up early, worked quickly and managed to move everything without issue from start to finish. Overall the movers were excellent and did great work. Additionally, it was wonderful having a singular point of contact there to help manage and assist the move in all three phases. From pick up, to storage, & finally to transporting multiple moves to one singular location, he was always on top of it and super responsive. I was happy to see the green bins moved out of my apartment at last today, but it was such a pleasure using the Dumbo team during the move! I had an awful experience with Dumbo on a New York to Boston move. I paid them to pack and move for me and arranged for the packing to happen the day before I needed to be out of my apartment. They were 6 hours late to pack, and when they showed up they were too tired to do anything so they said they'd come back in the morning. Unfortunately, that was only the beginning of their problems. When I moved to NYC I had to hire a company called Sofa Surgery to take my couch apart before moving in so it could fit through my apartment door. I made an appointment for them to come back for the move out, and timed it with the Dumbo movers. The Dumbo guys told me to cancel this appointment because they were sure they could do it themselves. I assured them it was harder than it looked but I stupidly let them convince me to cancel. As I had expected, they couldn't take it out so I had to call the sofa company to take care of it on short notice. Things went wrong again when they delivered my things in Boston. They were ready to go and I had planned to tip them $100 (I asked many people if this seemed reasonable and they agreed). When I handed it to them they started to count it and told me I had to tip them $300 and that this was in my contract. I double checked the contract and nowhere did it say anything about tipping. I didn't have any more cash on me and they were making me very uncomfortable so I had no choice but to go to the nearest ATM so I could get them the $300. They finally left when I gave it to them. The saga didn't quite end there. While unpacking my box of kitchen supplies I found my kitchen knives just thrown in the box haphazardly with no padding or wrapping, and I almost badly hurt myself taking them out. They were just bouncing around loose in the box. When I called my salesperson Alex to complain about everything that happened he failed to take any responsibility and just said too many moves were scheduled for that day and the movers were tired (hmm, sounds like the company's fault). He said they would refund me $100 if I signed a form. The form essentially would have forced me not to complain about Dumbo anywhere so I didn't sign it or take the money, which brings me to this moment. I sincerely hope this will save you a terrible experience. Pick another moving company!

I had an initially great experience with Dumbo! I moved out of my apt on 12/31, and they easily arranged storage and a move to my new place, since it wouldn't be ready till 1/4. I requested the same truck that moved me out (Truck 23) because they were great. A different truck arrived on 1/4 (Truck 21). When we were just about done with the move, I noticed a section of my closet wasn't right, and I asked the mover about it and he told me that I was correct and one of my wardrobe boxes (box 32) was missing, and that they would go to the storage unit and find it. I tipped both movers generously, and signed the paperwork, but noted prominently and multiple times that I was missing said wardrobe box. I spoke with the company and they assured they would look for it, and if they could not locate it, that I would be compensated. Fast forward and they say my box has not been found, and went back on their initial statement and now say that the box was delivered with my move and was never actually lost, and offered me $50 for the inconvenience. The knobs for my nightstand are also in that box, so I have an unusable nightstand and thousands of dollars worth of clothes missing. They have not contacted me and refuse to call, will only communicate through e-mail in broken English. This is completely unacceptable and they will be hearing from a professional on my behalf.

This was a very last minute move. The were the only company that would accommodate us and gave us a great quote (not hourly). The COI was free and they were easy to work with. Documents were emailed and we were able to text info too. Arrived on time and were efficient. Very Happy with service.

Customer beware! I was given an estimate. It was a little bit cheaper than other places I checked out. I agreed. The day of moving it went well initially. Then the movers started argueing. The next thing I know the movers told me my furnitures are too heavy; I should be paying more money. I have wood furnitures. It was their job to ask what kind of furnitures they are. While they were moving, I got a text message from Dumbo to add $275 more. The movers asked me to pay first. At that point they were trying to move my paino. I thought I'm at their mercy. If I argue, they will drop the piano and I will have a bigger problem. I paid right away, they started moving the piano. They scratched my floor, literally dents on the floor. I told them look what you're doing. They kind of apologized and were careful afterwards. The damage was done. Mind you they were taking pictures of all existing scratches and they were showing them to me. However, they didn't take any picture of the dent they made. I missed two shelves from the china so I made a complaint and told Anthony about the scratches. He told me that I have to show pictures of the floor before and after. He kept responding to my emails saying that the scratches were there before. He offerd me $50 for the shelves and no reviews. I didn't take the monbey because I'd rather know that other customers are not ripped off the way I was ripped off. I would never have used them if I was given the whole quote in the first place. I would not use them again. What was quoted first should have been honored! They should have at least be apologetic and try to do what they can for the dents they made. I'm writing this review so other customers know what they are giong into!! Customers BEWARE!!!

I had different quotes from different companies but they all sound complicated and the cost was overpriced. Then I found Dumbo moving and everything was very easy and smooth since I got in touch with them.
