So you're moving somewhere around Burlington, Vermont? You should hire Local Muscle. These guys are exactly the kind of company that you want to work with. They are super professional and prepared. They are courteous. They are wicked efficient (a huge benefit when you pay by the hour). They are careful with your things in your old place and in your new one. Look, Moving Day is stressful, and choosing the wrong moving company makes it worse. My strong suggestion is to take advantage of this great local company. If/when I move again, Local Muscle will be my first and only call.

We used Local Muscle for an in-town move from our apartment to our new house. A young woman and young man showed up with a large truck and in a very timely and professional manner moved everything from one place to the other. They had all the necessary equipment and were very careful with our belongings. Most importantly, every person I spoke to at every stage, from the man who scheduled the appointment to the folks who followed up about inventory to the movers themselves were well-spoken, polite, and just great to work with. Really wonderful customer service. And even better, it was not expensive at all. Now I wonder why I didn't use professional movers previously! The joys of adulthood. Ray & Justin helped us move form our apartment so we could set up to remodel. They were great! Very friendly, mindful of the items they were moving, and open-minded to suggestions. Our place in particular had narrow openings - about 30" at the widest. This made moving out a hutch and refrigerator quite a challenge. Fortunately, I am handy and would address the situation quickly. In fact, this would be my only area of recommended improvement: for the money, come prepared to solve problems like refrigerator door handles. Don't leave it to me. Alas, they saved us a lot of back ache and supplied a nice little ride for our junk to a storage facility in Williston. I'd recommend them to others. They were honest, hard-working, smiled even though it was raining, and were friendly enough to talk with one-on-one.

Local Muscle Movers are hands down the best moving company out there. They get 11 stars!! Mike and Leroy were personable, patient, funny, and went well above and beyond the call of duty. I would hire them again in a heartbeat (though I sincerely hope I don't have to as I really, really, really don't want to move again anytime soon!). Neither Leroy nor Mike complained once despite the fact that I changed my mind more than once, asking them to move (heavy) items from the 2nd floor to the basement and back again. You can't ask for better than that! Summary - great company with stellar employees (who deserve hefty raises!!)

Our Events

Very dissatisfied with the move, they broke the only truly nice piece of furniture we had. Very carelessly tried to flip a heavy piece of furniture without securing the drawers. This was especially disappointing because we took all the drawers out of the furniture so it'd be easier to move, they had us out them all back in so they could move faster, then they proceeded to bust one of the drawers and scratch one bureau up badly.

They were careful with our belongings and had us totally moved out of our old place and into our new residence within 4 hours! Their estimates for time and cost were right on the money! This company is great! The reservation process was very easy and very personable, from receiving the estimate to confirming the job. Oftentimes, I spoke to the same person that provided the estimate and provided communication about arrival times and other necessary correspondence. The movers arrived very near the scheduled time even though it was their 3rd job of the day. We were scheduled for 2 hours and they finished in about 1:45, which was also fantastic. They achieved this by working very efficiently and the guys worked very well together. Very personable folks at Local Muscle all around.

I had a really great experience with Local Muscle Movers! I needed a couch moved from Portland, ME to Burlington, and had no luck getting friends with trucks to volunteer. I had seen Local Muscle's truck around town (it's easy to spot), and decided to give them a try. I'm glad that I did! It turned out that they were moving some other things from Portland anyway, so I got a great deal. The two guys that I met, Jake and Kyle, were super friendly and showed up right when they said they would! I haven't had much experience with moving companies before, but I would definitely recommend Local Muscle!

Getting the move confirmed was a bit tricky as I was on the road by the time my check made it to their office, but everything went smoothly regardless. Matt and Brandon were my movers and they were great. They showed up on time and they got everything done efficiently and with great care. These guys are amazing! Not only were they super professional, they were quick, gentle with our things, and punctual considering double closing times in one day. Not once did they stop and take breaks during our active move times - they just got the job done & kept moving. Not one item was broken, crushed our scratched! Not one wall was scuffed and if they felt like a piece of furniture could do some damage in tight areas they always inquired with my husband and I before proceeding. We got into the city late, as we were coming from Montreal, and Local Muscle was very understanding and accommodating-moving around other jobs in order to make the timing work. Some of my jewelry had spilled from a drawer in the moving truck, and they searched outside for it with lights (it was dark by this time) and actually managed to find it all. (UPDATE 6MAY19): For everyone that will be reading this post in its entirety, I would like to say that my opinion of local muscle has changed. Not even 24 hrs after I posted my first review below, their manager, Brendan, called me and left a voicemail. I was not able to get back with him that day and he called me again the following day. Brendan was very persistent in wanting to know what happened and to make things right with me. When we finally talked, we had a lengthy conversation where he mostly listened and was very concerned about my experience. He explained to me in detail that what I have experienced was not up to their standard and is an anomaly in the day-to-day operations, executing many jobs. Of course I believed him because I see the awesome reviews that Local Muscle got from many customers. Brendan made things right with me when he listened to my concerns and provided some compensation for not receiving best service possible. Folks, as with any customer service based business, things will not always go right. However, the positive actions the company takes when you have a negative review or a complaint, speaks highly of that company. It really shows if a company is truly professional and reputable. I wholeheartedly believe Local Muscle took very positive steps in making things right by me and keeping me happy. For this reason, I raised my review to 4 stars and If I ever had to move again in Vermont, I will use them again; primarily for their superb consistency in providing excellent service. I just happened to not get the best crew on the ground that day. Brendan realized this and expressed to me that he is taking action to remedy the problem. Yury --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- My experience with this moving company is average at best. Although the movers were very nice, they did not seem the most experienced. My move was only a few feet away and they took about 7 hours to move just a few things out of my house. On top of that, they almost refused to move my dresser for safety reasons. What moving company refuses to move a dresser? It's not like I asked them to move a piano the day of the move. The dresser was on my inventory list prior to them coming. The mover stated that his partner has a prior back injury. Although I sympathize with him, its not really my problem. I am paying A LOT of money for a simple move and I should not be hearing, "Sir, for safety purposes, we cannot move your dresser". I asked him if they can send out another crew to pick up the dresser and the mover said no. I eventually had to convince the mover that I will help move the dresser, in which I did. No discount was given to me for that. Not professional at all. Also, the movers could care less if they walked all over my clean carpet with their dirty shoes. My wife and I had to insist that they lay blankets down and walk on them instead. And even so, they did a poor job at that. I also had to insist that the mover saran wrap the dresser to prevent the drawers from coming out and protect the dresser itself. Standard procedures but seemed like a huge inconvenience for the movers. They also did not wrap my couches for protection when moving them, and neither did they put the mattress in the a mattress bag despite my request for it when filling out the cost estimate. The customer service prior to move date was great. Not so much after the move. No one from the company contacted me to see how my move went and if I was satisfied. You would think that if I paid almost $1000 for one day's work, someone would make sure to see how it went. Nope! One of the manager's called for a transaction mistake issue and never asked for my feedback. Very unprofessional! Bottom line, I am in the military and I know all about the moving experience. This was by far the worst one I had so far and they did not even have to drive anywhere. I would not use this company, nor will I recommend this company to anyone else.

This was my second time using Local Muscle and everything went well, again. Super fast, friendly and efficient. They took great care of our stuff and really went out of their way to fit some larger items through some small entranceways. They showed up exactly on time and the price was reasonable. Used these folks to move a couple of wood stoves from Williston to Fairfax. Very impressed with the 4 fellows that showed up to move my stuff - C.R., D.K., P.M., and D.C. They all shook my hand and introduced themselves to me. That impressed me! They were careful with my stuff, and the move went without a hitch. My only negative comment would be about the estimate I received. My estimate was from between $252 to $411. Actual cost was $717, not even close...

We used Local Muscle to handle the big/heavy furniture pieces, and our experience with them was excellent. We made our appointment only a week before the move. Truly thoughtful and thorough customer service is an increasingly rare commodity these days but I'm happy to say that Local Muscle Movers are committed to delivering exactly that. They loaded our entire life into their truck this morning and they did it with efficiency, courtesy, and care. Our crew consisted of Matt and Sam. I could tell these were solid people when I showed them around our apartment and detailed what needed to be moved. They asked the right questions and wasted 0 time before getting to work. I watched the boxes and furniture being neatly organized and well cared for as they entered the truck. They drove carefully behind me on our way to the new home and unloaded with the same efficiency as before. We ended up about 30 minutes under the quoted time and Sam therefor adjusted our total cost. That level of service makes a big difference during this stressful/expensive period of life transition. These folks took a lot of work off of our plate for a reasonable price and provided outstanding customer service throughout. I'm grateful for such an amazing resource and will highly recommend Local Muscle to friends and family. Thanks, guys!

I had everything boxed and ready, futon and bed disassembled etc. They were very quick and got everything moved perfectly. They were able to work with my schedule on a very busy day. These guys were very supportive when I mixed up a truck rental and ended up having no truck when they showed up. Instead of giving up and leaving me stranded (which would have been understandable), they called around and tried to locate a truck. They ended up grabbing their cargo van and loading it up with as much as they could (all of the big things I wouldn't have been able to move by myself), stuffed my car as well, and off we went. Definitely made a stressful situation much more manageable! Absolutely would move with them again: nice, efficient, excellent movers.
