I'm a disabled veteran and we hired this guy to move our things from storage to our new place. He had a bad attitude from the start. Inside of the storage unit we had stored some things inside of the entertainment center to conserve space. He tried to lift it without first removing the things from inside and the weight of it all caused the top to crack. He lost his patience and threw it onto a cart and then banged it again really hard into the wall. He proceeded to throw a tantrum like a 3 yr old and completely demolished our entertainment center into pieces. When I asked him if he was going to reimburse us for it, he tried to say it was already broken before he tried to pull it out, when I was standing there watching the whole thing happen. He got really upset and aggressive and told me to forget the whole job, he's not doing it, and proceeded to throw all our boxes back out of his truck. He was so aggressive about the whole thing I had to call the police and get them over there to make sure it didn't escalate into a physical confrontation over the way he was handling our things. My wife who was there too was so frightened by the whole thing she was shaking and had to hide out in the office of the storage building.

Just keep looking. Hired this company and the guy told me his wife ran the packing side of the company. No problem. She told me she only had two hours to work before she had to leave for an appointment so I was appalled when she showed up 10 minutes late. I was then charged for materials we probably didn’t need and didn’t even know we were using. I also got an attitude when I called the day before to ask about buying some materials since I was in the Uhaul store and could save them a trip. I don’t know if they make money marking up materials, or not, but it seemed kinda strange to get a bit of an attitude when trying to help out. Additionally, I had some bird taxidermy which I was VERY clear about having packed as protected as possible. When she was putting one of the ducks into a box, I watched it break. I told her it was breaking and wasn’t going to make the trip like that. She got rude with me and told me she does this all the time and it would be fine. When I got to my new house, I opened it up and surprise, it was broken. When I confronted her about it after discovering it being broken, I received this text: “I am so sorry about that sir. I couldn’t put them into larger boxes because that would leave too much room for them to get jostled around. So I put them in the box that they fit in with Packing materials. I remember you saying that you were worried that one was being broken. When you said that I looked in and nothing was broken. You did drive 3000 miles in a U-Haul and those trucks even with the grandmas attic wiggle a lot, especially on some of the roads I’ve been over in the Yukon. I apologize as I know that those docs are very special to you. My scrapbooks are special to me And if one got dinged I would be upset too. Let me offer my most sincere apology for The damage. I hope you and your family enjoy going back to Palmer. I’m kind of jealous because I miss Southeast Alaska so much myself.” I watched it break while she was packing it and even brought it to her attention. I think she was frustrated because they were taking way too long to finish. She told me it would be fine and proceeded to pack it this way. It wasn’t. She admitted I told her it was breaking but SHE didn’t see anything broken so she rolled with it. Now I have a broken taxidermy mount and I’m being offered a most sincere apology to make it right, along with an underhanded transfer of blame to me. On top of all of this, even though I paid for the entire time they were there, one of their vehicles had just been stolen and she spent what seems like a quarter of the time she was there on the phone with the cops. She didn’t offer any type of discount for the reduced services I received. She even kept hinting around the fact that they can’t pay their employees enough and if it weren’t for TIPS they’d probably not be able to afford a place to live. I know what I paid them for a few hours of packing and four hours of loading a truck so if their employees can’t afford reasonable places to live, I would suspect, although I have no way to be certain, it’s because they aren’t passing enough of that money on to the people actually doing the work. In my opinion, they’re unprofessional, inexperienced, may show up late, might not work the entire time, and could bill you full price, regardless. If something ends up broken, in my experience, you’re pretty much on your own. I will not do business with this company ever again.

Scott seemed very irrationally angry any time I or his workers had a suggestion.What kind of business owner cannot listen to his workers or the customer? Got a very bad vibe, definitively would not recommend.

Our experience was extremely disappointing as we ended up with a repair bill that was higher than the cost of the moving service. This happened after their Uhaul backed over the corner of a new sidewalk. The sidewalk corner was exposed and higher than the soft ground surrounding it (new construction.) We addressed this with Strong Backs 4 U and they blamed the damage on our contractor, failing to take any responsibility, even though the driver and spotter obviously didn't communicate when the truck was backing up. There was plenty of room to back the truck up without hitting the sidewalk in the first place. Their argument was that trucks back over sidewalks all the time and I'm sure they do -- but not uphill over the corner of an exposed sidewalk surrounded by soft dirt. (My husband has an engineering degree and attempted to point this out to them). Had it been a level sidewalk, and not an exposed corner, perhaps the damage would not have occurred or been as extensive. It's unfortunate that the whole thing came down to not paying attention to what they were doing, and then failing to take responsibility for their mistake. Instead, Strong Backs 4 U became angry at us for asking for reimbursement for the damage.

The owner / worker was nice but does not have the right equipment or enough manpower. Go with a larger company who can do it right. Items were dropped and scratched.
