We recently moved from MA to North Carolina. We couldn't have been happier to have selected Smart Penny for our move. They came to the house and gave us a detailed estimate. We first needed to have everything moved from our house to their storage facility in Cambridge for 3 months, while we searched for a new house. Then they packed it all up again and moved it to our new home in NC. It could not have gone smoother. We were so hesitant to hire a moving company, as we have never used one before and have heard some horror stories. But, our house sold quickly and we needed to move into our temporary condo till we could find another house, so we desperately needed help and to move fast! The crew arrived on time, on the dot, and worked hard and efficiently. We were so impressed. They didn't even stop to take a water break! Especially since we got a snow storm on moving day, in April! The crew covered our floors with their own equipment and efficiently protected all of our furniture from the elements. They moved a 3 bedroom home into a tiny condo and broke down and set up all the furniture in about 4 hours, can't be that! The crew was so nice, helpful and courteous. We will definitely be using them again when we find our next house. I could not be happier with their service and I will absolutely be using them again. Best decision we could have ever made. Smart Penny Moving moved my son to/from 1 BR apts within 25 miles of each other. They worked quickly and did the job well. They had an employee who arrived at work ill and had to be sent home, so they had to replace him, but the delay in their start time was only an hour and they did call to let me know. The workers were pleasant and accommodating. They were careful moving the furniture and breakables and there were no mishaps. Despite lots of stairs, they finished the job within the expected time frame and at a reasonable cost. I would hire them again.

Excellent service. No hidden fees. Prompt arrival. Only constructive criticism is that for a one bedroom apartment, although 2 movers suffice, I think 3 should be the minimum when several large and heavy pieces of furniture have to be disassembled and put together again. I would rather pay more per hour for 3 movers and save on the time instead.

By Kevin Fleming on 07/07/2016 (Published on RateABiz) I have to tip my hat to the SmartPenny crew who moved six rooms of furniture plus numerous boxes and appliances from our home of 28 years to our new home in Vermont. The crew showed up on time and commenced immediately to break down furniture, wrap it securely and develop a load plan that fit all of our furniture and boxes into the moving van before embarking on a three hour plus trip to Vermont for unloading. Everything arrived intact and was set up according to plan. The crew of three young men were polite and extremely attentive to our guidance and concerns.They were organized and energetic throughout the move. They were very committed to making this interstate move successful. It was indeed. I'd highly recommend this firm to anyone. They exceeded my expectations from the initial estimate through to final furniture assembly.

I cannot tell you how pleased I was this company! The 3 men who came to load the truck were extremely professional and pleasant to deal. they carefully wrapped all my furniture in blankets (not like my last moving company they were horrible!) loaded it and placed everything where I explained I wanted it. These 3 men were also good when the elevator went down for short period and had to carry something's up 5 flights of stairs. I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND THEM AGAIN!

Called when they left the office and showed early than expected. Had a discussion on what should be moved and any packing that was need because I couldn't finish. I used Smart Penny Moving to move a one bedroom from Framingham to Somerville, MA. The movers were very prompt, and even were willing to add a stop along the way to pick up a couch from another location. It was a very very hot day but the two movers practically ran up the 2 flights of stairs each way to get all of my stuff inside. While they were moving, they would provide helpful tips on how to get the larger items back down the narrow stairwell for when I move out. I found the pricing to be affordable given the excellent service and very quick total move time!

Movimg companies get a bad rap! We contacted Smart Penny Movers to discuss our local move. The rep came by our house to look at our furnishings and give us an estimate. He was very clear on the process, t hier flat hourly rate for local moves. Very transparent and upfront. We hired them and could not be more pleased with the team that was sent to move us. They were on time and professional, worked hard and careful with our belongings. We were done in less time than estimated and that equated to less cost. They showed up right on time and moved my things quickly and carefully. They carefully wrapped my furniture and transported it easily. The movers asked me once where each box or item were going and I told them several different rooms per box and they were able to remember without asking me again. These guys are how moving companies should be organized and function. Easy setup process (estimate over phone, that puts the onus on the customer to be accurate, in my case I was off. Plus Docusign process to confirm). On Moving day, the team called to let me know when they left their office, arrived on time and go to work immediately. No time wasted in 'discussing' or 'chatting'. The team lead constantly asked to ensure everything was being packed and unpacked in the right place. Also - he ensured to let me know when they were taking short 'breather' breaks. Overall, very impressed with the quality of service and will surely be using/recommending these guys.

Honestly couldn't have asked for better movers. I had a 2-bed apartment local move, total time for the move was about 6.5 hours INCLUDING like 2 hours of drive time--these guys were crazy fast. Pretty decent rate too. Would highly recommend.

The pleasant and highly professional team of Tom, Romano and Ishmael were efficient, careful and thoughtful regarding every aspect of the move. They made a complicated move seem easy. Oleg, the estimator came to my home twice to prepare the estimate which turned out to be the exact final cost of the move. (All other top tier movers contacted asked us to send a list of items for their estimates). We used Smart Penny for our move in June of this year, 2018. We were moving out of a house we lived in for 31 years, so we had a LOT of stuff. We also lived on the 2nd and 3rd flrs, which made moving a lot of our furniture difficult. Smart Penny sent 3 guys, they were AMAZING!!! Fast, friendly, courteous, professional. We could not have asked for a better moving company.They did the move in just under 3 hrs, i was shocked. We liked them so much that I referred them to a friend. They were very affordable, professional, and took very good care while handling our belongings. Another thing that stood out for this company is the short time period between pick up and drop off.
