This was my second time moving with Marathon. The first time was an interstate move to MA, and the crew packed and moved our 2br so carefully and professionally that there was no question who to call this time. The office staff were incredibly helpful and professional both times - they were very easy to deal with, and all our communications were very clear. The move itself was generally very good - this time they packed our kitchen, which they did very well (not one single broken item, exactly as we expected from our last experience) - however they hadn't taken into account the steep gradient and narrowness of the street at our new home and over half an hour of the billable time was taken up with moving items from the large truck to a smaller truck that would be easier to maneuver on our street. The crew was generally professional - the two Boston based guys very much so, the two from New Hampshire a little less - and I especially appreciated the multiple attempts primarily of the Boston based crew to try to get a large sofa up very narrow stairs. Unfortunately that didn't make it, but their efforts were valiant. I would like to give them 5 stars again but unfortunately given that this was an in-town move and in many ways simpler than the previous move I really did expect the same or higher level of professionalism as last time. They are still a very fine company and I won't hesitate to call them again. Just wanted to point out these small ways in which our experience could have been better.

It was a short move, from a temporary apartment back to my renovated home, and they accomplished it quickly and efficiently. I would highly recommend Marathon Movers. Great jod from the 1st time dealing with Lillian for a quote to the truck pulling away. Right from the start was great. Lillian was alway very fast to answer my email for the quote and any question I had. Then when I spoke with her on the phone. She was even better and even more helpful. It's so good to have the 1st contact being so helpful. Told the truck would be at my house between 7:30 and 8:30. It was there at 8. The three guys(sorry I forgot names) that came were also great. After seeing what was being moved. They came in and didn't stop until they had everything wrapped up and in the truck. They wrap everything including couch cushions and lay out runners on the floor so there is no damage to floors. Then walked around with me to make sure what wanted moved was moved. Exact same thing moving things in. Ask where it's all going and didn't stop until they were done. Then walked around with us to make sure it was where we wanted things to be. Made a great ending to a very long process of selling and moving from a home. So happy we went with them

I chose Marathon Moving because of the courtesy I received in a random meeting with a crew at EZ Storage in Needham. Then I called and the good experience continued. The process was smooth from estimate to the move. I also needed storage for a month – no problem, Kathy said, and it was arranged. On the day of my move, the crew arrived as scheduled. We were still packing, “no problem” they said and we continued. They were efficient, courteous, and professional, even serving as my therapist in times of stress (sort of kidding but they were great). Did I mention that they were helpful and respectful too? Well, they will complete the move soon (it is in two parts) and I am confident that all will go well.

We used Marathon to move our family of 4 from West Roxbury to Cohasset. With two children under the age of 3, we were a little nervous about the whole process. However, the Marathon team did a fantastic job helping us prepare for the move, packing up our house, loading the truck and delivering a few days later. As we are now completely unpacked, I can say no items were broken or lost as part of the move. The same crew packed and delivered our possessions, which helped with boxes being placed in the right rooms and getting the furniture put back together. The crew was extremely professional and friendly despite the heat wave they had to contend with. All appointments were on schedule and the office staff did a great job responding to any questions and scheduling everything. Would highly recommend Marathon to anyone moving local or long distance, especially those who need some help packing up their house. Thank you for everything!

FOLLOW UP Used Marathon Movers again - money well spent Guys that moved us were great - professional, on time, hard working and very patient. The price was by far much better then the 3 other quotes I received (not by a little but by thousands of dollars) Kathy was exceptional in helping me schedule the move - She came out to my house and went through everything that we were moving with my wife. We had such an easy and pleasant experience with Marathon Movers. From the first contact with Kathy, to the guys who moved our things in to our new home, they were driven to be sure we were happy with the process. Before the move, they were helpful to me by directing me to resource where I could get rid of a few things. They kept me informed of the process all along the way. We had a particularly challenging (heavy) table saw that needed to go into a basement, and they took on the challenge without complaint and were successful! The movers themselves were professional, polite and worked hard all day until the job was done. What a great team of people.

We did most of the packing ourselves, just leaving furniture and TV's for them to pack and wrap, which was done very thoroughly. We'll definitely use them again if we move in the near future!

My wife and I were referred to Marathon Movers by our son and daughter-in-law who had used them a little over a year ago after interviewing a number of different companies. As anyone who has moved can attest, the process is certainly stressfull enough without having to worry about whether your furniture or property is going to get damaged in the course of the move. With the aforementioned concerns, we scheduled an appointment for an estimate with Marathon Movers and met with their representative, Kathy Keane. She patiently explained just how the process would work and how the furniture would be prepared and protected for the move. She further informed us that their movers could either pack our smaller belongings for us or we could do it ourselves. In the course of the meeting she made numerous recommendations that ultimately proved to be right on the mark. In addition, she offered us boxes, packing paper and tape if we stopped by their warehouse. When she left our house, so did a lot of the anxiety that we were experiencing regarding our move. She had not only answered all of our concerns, but called attention to a number of things that we hadn't even thought of and provided solutions for them. When our moving crew showed up - as scheduled and on time - the foreman, Mike, walked through the house with us and went over everything. They put down protection on the floors and then went to work. In summary, the whole process proved to be uneventfull. Our furniture and belongings were handled in a professional manner and not one item was damaged in the process. The final price was exactly as Kathy Keane had quoted. No extra fees or hidden charges. My wife thought one of the best services that they offer is that you don't have to take anything out of your closets. They take your clothing, on hangers, and put them in the equivalent of sealed portable closets and then place them right into the closets of your new home. As a consumer, I'm not bashfull about complaining when things don't go according to plan or as promised, but I think it's equally important to acknowledge good customer service and professional work. We were impressed with this company and I would encourage anyone that is planning a move to contact them.

I have moved often and have had many successful moves, but no company has been as terrific as Marathon. This was a really complicated move, with all my stuff going into storage for a few months, then being delivered to two different addresses in two different states, and making two additional stops along the way to pick up more things going to the final destination. There were so many possible places for errors, and all went perfectly. I had them pack a pottery collection of over 100 pieces and many framed paintings, and OMG everything arrived perfectly. When I realized I had some furniture in their storage facility that I wasn't going to be able to fit in my new place, they took it out and donated it to a local charity for me, delivering it at no extra charge. The movers were all permanent staff, not pick-ups, well trained, and incredibly professional. The same person who led the moving team on the front end, moving into storage, led the team on the back end, moving into my new place. Every single person I dealt with was professional, on top of the details, considerate, and definitely prepared to do all kinds of extras to make sure everything went smoothly. I had used a different mover for my last three moves and gave Marathon a try because a friend recommended them so highly. They were better and even lower cost than my former "high end" mover. And when my daughter, who lives in another state, needed a mover, Marathon recommended one of their affiliates near her, and they were great and she had her best move ever. Marathon is just fabulous - and I am very picky!

Amazing! The crew, Tommy and Jerry, were professional, helpful, knowledgeable, and efficient. They brought extra supplies for us to pack up last minute items (wardrobe boxes were a lifesaver!!), wrapped all our furniture to protect it, and had a special container for our art/frames. This is my 5th using Marathon and I would NEVER go anywhere else. Moving can be so stressful and they made us feel at ease. Highly recommend.

Excellent. This was our second move with Marathon Moving. Courteous and swift, the five man crew did not stop the entire time they were packing up our house. It was raining the day of the move out. I thought the house would be full of mud tracks and grass clippings chalked up to moving in the rain, but the house was surprisingly clean when the job was complete. Marathon Moving stored our items for two months in their warehouse without any issues. Marathon Moving exceeded my high expectations once again.

Marathon Moving is one of those companies. I hired them after listing my condominium and went through the entire process I try and prepare my clients for. Kathy Keene came out to my property for a site visit and told me exactly what to expect and then followup up with a proposal. The move was booked. I had a two man crew show up on time, and immediately get to work. Quick questions were met with quick answers, and they knew exactly where to be going. Upon arriving at my new property, they moved items exactly where they should be going and made the process as simple as possible. I even jokingly asked if either of them were interior designers, and then they both helped me plan the furniture layout in one of the rooms. Moving shouldn't be fun, but I had a good time. Going into hiring this company, I knew that you really get what you pay for, and after Kathy explained the process in detail to me, I felt extremely comfortable and was in great hands. These guys were fabulous. We had 3 guys show up, Jim, Joe and Oscar. They arrived on time. They took apart and carefully packaged various pieces of furniture that needed to be moved. They packed attic items where we had given up. They hustled through the move, reassembled furniture and got through in the estimated time. They were very accomodating when they needed to move the truck for neighbors to get out. Would definitley use them again. Worth every penny.

* Put two shoes of a pair in two different boxes. (Not by accident for a pair, this happened to few pairs.) * Dropped a box on a shelf in the garage, and the contents were scattered and damaged. * Lights were put together, but shades and bodies are all mixed up. * Several boxes were not marked at all. AND, some boxes were marked wrongly (i.e. Ski Stuff - But, there was nothing relating ski in the box.) * The boxes were placed all over the house in a random order. (i.e. Mudroom - some were left in the garage and some were placed in a bedroom.) They are movers, but I would not call them "professional." For the work they do, they are very expensive. I give two starts only because I don't hate anything.

The best moving company around. My (very particular) boss swears by them. I almost went with a cheaper company for my move, but when I realized that Marathon was pretty average in their prices (while being WAY above average with their service) I decided to go with Marathon. There is no way I'd go with any other company. If you find other movers that are cheaper, remember that these are your belongings and you want to make sure the place you move out of doesn't get damaged and the place you move into doesn't get damaged. Plus, you want the movers to be courteous and trustworthy. Go with Marathon, you won't regret it!

Our experience with Marathon was excellent. Pricing was fair, staff was courteous and professional and they were extremely helpful leading up to the move. On the day of our move, the team showed up as expected, took a walk through the home to get our instructions and worked quickly and efficiently from there on out and handled our belongings with care. The movers were great to work with and did a fantastic job getting everything done for us and actually completed the move just under the low end of time on the estimate (including travel).
