I rarely write reviews, and it's even rarer that I write a negative review, but here goes.
A lovely person came out and did our estimate. Unfortunately, when the crew showed up, several things we had asked for had not been communicated to the crew and they did not have the supplies to move our lamps. No big deal, it was a local move, we moved our own lamps. The truck was also too small to take all of our items - an outdoor table (and our lamps) were left behind. The crew was willing to go back for the table, but since the move is paid for by the hour, we declined. The next morning, we rented a truck and took care of it. Again, no big deal.
The crew did a great job, they worked hard and efficiently, and they had a great attitude.
Then the big problem happened. We had set a bowl on the counter in the bathroom of the old house. In the bowl were a few things, including two necklaces, an inexpensive watch, loose change, etc. We packed nothing from the bathroom (planned on doing it the next day). The crew, of course, used the bathroom. The next day, when we went to pack the bathroom, one of the necklaces was missing. The necklace was a gold necklace that had three charms on it. One charm was found over by the bathroom door. The necklace is gone. The bowl was exactly where we'd left it and appeared otherwise undisturbed.
We called Von Paris the next business day. All we wanted was the necklace back - it wasn't an expensive piece of jewelry, but it had a lot of sentimental value. For all we know, someone somehow bumped the bowl, picked up the necklace and forgot to give it back.
When I called, I asked to speak to a supervisor. The receptionist gathered all of the information, put me on hold and came back and said that they couldn't talk to me because something had been stolen and that I needed to file a police report. I informed her that I did not want to file a police report, all I wanted was the necklace (a police report would not get us any closer to getting the necklace back, in fact it would escalate the situation). After I declined the police report and asked for another option, she transferred me to the person in charge of losses. I left a voice mail. I called back again later that afternoon. I was told that the person was gone for the day and that I would hear from her in "a day or two". That was Monday. It's now Friday. And I've heard nothing.
I'm concerned that they chose to not address what happened with their staff and that they clearly don't want to deal with the situation at all. We've already paid, so their interest in us as a customer is over. I strongly suggest finding any other company.
