I request Jake's Moving and Storage to deliver my stuff from silver spring to Washington DC. The Disspatch was able to book me up pretty fast and explain me everything before regarding pricing time date and all the nessuseery info. All movers did the job perfect, was kind and had the best costumer service, they cover all glass furniture and brought it to my home in Washington DC in the same condition. These guys are great. I called, had a productive conversation with John about what I needed to have moved, sent pictures so he would have an idea of the antiques and what would need to be packed. Very efficient, thorough, and polite movers. Took care to protect items. They arrived 2 hours late, which was stressful, but only took 2 hours to move everything. I had budgeted 4 hours, so ultimately was okay.

For the most part the service was ok. Until the end when the employee asked me to tip him. After they left I we went to put the kids to bed to gind out my daughter's crib was not fully assembled. Went down to the basement and my and found an expensive desk in the same manner. The desk is actual damaged beyond repair. I understand moving furniture equals damaged furniture in the long run. I execpt damages, but just having left stuff unfinished and not being informed of issues is horird. If you ask for a tip please ensure you actual deserve it. I go to work everyday and provide a service and never ask for someone to tipe. I also do not destroy or leave work unfinished without notification. The company refunded the tip plus 150 dollars more for the issues. They honestly seems sincere when they spoke to me about the issues and wanted to correct the problems.

we did not have a good experience with this company. the end result is damaged staff. actually, i wanted to give them 1 out of 5 rating. do not believe in great reviews or don't complain later. the only reason we went with that company is we were late and all better companies were all booked...yes, there is no perfect moving company and we were moving a lot in the past but this one is something...we will never use this company again, sorry guys...

I had a local move done from Rockville to Laurel. After calling 5 different moving companies and getting quoted prices in the range of $1,200 - $1,400, I was almost about to give in to these crazy prices until I called Jake's moving. John, the general manager, was very professional and he gave us the best price, almost half of what these other companies were quoting us. I am satisfied with the results. The 4 movers arrived about 5 minutes early and got right to work. I needed assistance disassembling my large dining room table and bed and they were very good at taking everything apart and even putting it back together at my new apartment, something that would have taken me hours to complete since I didn't have power tools. I am satisfied with the results and would use Jake's Moving again in the future. 5/5 Stars!

Had a small move involving exercise equipment within Maryland which I thought would be no big deal. Went to the website and filled out their online form and got a quick email reply. I follow up with a call to John on the phone and he gave an initial quote based on the job requiring 4 movers and 3 hours. The pricing was straight forward and rational so I agreed to the terms. Was really pleased when told that they could do it within the week. John was on the job site when we spoke so he asked me to follow up with him in the office the next day. When I called the office, was told that they picked up a few more jobs since my conversation with John and would need to push my move to the following week. I had already told the seller that the movers would be coming this week and made plans. I understand that my job isn't a big one so they probably just took a bigger job over mine. But whats the point of the online form request and phone call with the general manager? I basically got bumped because they got another job. To me, John's word that they could get to my move this week caused me to set things up on my end. Now they can't get to me till next week so I have to readjust. Unfortunately, John's word doesn't mean much.

I had a great experience with Jake's Moving. Shimon was so nice, honest, and easy to work with. I went with Jake's because a friend recommended the company. I close the all-inclusive rate and it worked out fine because the price came in right on the estimate. They came on time and took great care of our stuff. As an executor of an estate, I had to move my nephew and his mother from a house that had to be sold into another house. Plus we had to deal with Jake's long distance by phone and email. John at Jake's was a tremendous help in making sure that our relative was prepared for the move and his men helped them pack some things on the day of the move. The crew was the hardest working people I have experienced in any trade in decades. They maximized every second! These folks came highly recommended by a family friend, they were exactly as he described them. They are priced favorably and deal honestly, non of the common surprise hidden fees you often get from service companies. I dealt with John on the phone who was very pleasant and clear, most important he was accommodating to my particular moving requests.Their moving staff are hard working and protect your furniture well, yet they don't waste time overdoing it. Great Moving Experience! My wife and I have used Jake's Moving about a week ago for a local move. They moved us from a 2 bedroom in Silver Spring to our new home in Gaithersburg, the team was very efficient they covered our furniture very well with clean pads, all the movers we're very carful with our floors and walls, the estimate we received prior was accurate , it was nice to have a certified moving consultant come out to do an in home Estimate ,very professional from start to finish we could not be happier with the personal attention,they really delivered what they promised and we will be happy to recommend thank you guys you are awesome!!

I was desperate to move a copier from one business location to another. It was Saturday and I needed to have it there by Monday the move was in VA and I am in St. Louis, MO a little stressful to say the least. When I called I was not sure what to expect concerning my urgent request. John was very helpful and reassured me that he could take care of the situation. I had the displeasure on December 16, 2015 of hiring the moving services of Jakes moving. It all starts by the Manager John lying about the efficiency of staff costing etc. on the day of the move a smaller inadequeate rental vehicle sent to do the job, which automatically drives up your cost, as your contract is estimated on an hourly rate, the staff "appears" to be moving efficiently while dragging the work to extend the hourly cost. I would not recommend this Company to anyone and also not to be fooled by the Manager's hypnotic sales pitch. as that seems to be the only good thing about Jake's moving

I inquired about a quote...and they never got back with me. I called them four times during normal business hours on different days and all four times I got hung up on. I read all these reviews about 'excellent communication' but I guess I'm the outlier here. Decided to go with another moving company that I was able to get a quote with over the phone the same day and they are much easier to deal with. Jake's gave me the cold shoulder and I'm never coming back.

I was just simply calling for a quote. The FIRST time I called, how the gentleman answered the phone was friendly but he rushed me on hold. I held, then disconnected the call after a minute. I did however, received a call back, but I made a mistake and ignored the call. Of course I called back because I'm thinking they obviously want my business. I was impressed. Bad mistake. When I called back I got John....he was downright rude. He introduced himself as "John with Jake's Moving and Storage". I then asked if I could get a quote. John says nothing... Then I said, "What do I need to give you To get a quote"? I'm thinking, First of all, if I have to ask YOUR company what do YOU need give a quote, that is a serious problem! But that's neither here nor there. What was said next and the tone used still has my blood pressure high! This guy then say to me, a potential PAYING customer, "Oh you don't know what you need to get a quote?" "This must be your first time getting a quote." That was it, I interrupted and advised not to worry about it and to have a nice day. One thing I won't do is beg you to give you my money. Clearly my business was not wanted. I would suggest you update your site to include who business you do want. AND, Uh, yes it actually was my first time calling for a quote and it sucks super bad that when I think of a moving coming in Richmond, Virginia I will think of this experience with Jake's Moving and Storage and will be disgusted. When I hear the name Jake's Moving and Storage I will make sure I will relay my experience and the professionalism the was displayed today. ***update**** i read your response. Unfortunately, I'm unable to reply directly to you. I'm happy the call was recorded and anyone with ears could hear how rude your employee was. Of course someones tone will get lost in translation. We were very happy the first time with the service so of course when we decided to move back to Rockville ( from DC ) we went with Jake's moving and they did a super job again. I called Jake's at 3:30p to have a heavy sectional couch carried down two flights of narrow staircase with tight corners. No way I was doing this myself. By 5:30p, the job was done. Texted some pics to the manager, sorted out the payment, two guys came over, wrapped up the sectional, carried it down, set it up, and done! Thrilled to be able to wrap it up that quickly and efficiently. Highly recommended.

I called Jake's after a Google search because initially I needed help with a local piano move. He was so easy to talk to that I requested a quote for the rest of my move as well. He was clear about what to expect based on the description of what I was moving and his reasonable quote (size of truck, number of people, time etc.) I was able to schedule the local move within a week.

We moved from a 2 BR apt to another 2 BR apt. We received a phone call five minutes before the crew's arrival, asking us if they could come a half hour early. Great! They got there and got right to business. We had 55 steps up the apartment we moved out of, and 55 more steps at the apartment we moved into to. These guys never stopped the whole time. I even bought them lunch and they did not take a bite until the move was complete. They wrapped everything neatly and broke down our furniture without ruining any of it. They even removed our light bulbs from our lamps and wrapped the bulbs! Jeff was friendly and helped speak on behalf of the crew and owner, when the owner was preoccupied, which was very helpful. They all had a great attitude even when you knew they were completely exhausted from all the steps. The price ended up being twice the amount of what we were quoted, however the price was just an estimate. It took the crew twice as long to complete the job and they worked non-stop. Shimon allowed us to add 30-40 boxes as well as a patio set and never charged us extra for it.

Jake's Moving and Storage just completed a rather small move in-town for our CEO. Even though it was a lighter load, they treated us like we were their only priority. John provided an accurate quote, gave us some good suggestions and showed great patience as I changed the date and time - all within the week of the move! Come the day of the move and we realized we had not reserved the loading dock and needed a certificate of insurance before anything could proceed. Called John and got this taken care of in under 30 minutes with a great attitude! He told me not to sweat the small stuff - never pointed fingers and his level of service stayed rock solid. Then when the movers were finally able to go up and begin the move, the experience did not change. The crew took great care, and were very fast and extremely professional. Could not be more pleased and would highly recommend them for the quality of service as well as the price which was very fair for the service provided.

I had found this company via Yelp where it had gotten excellent reviews. I contacted the company and then had to change the date. No problem. On the promised date the truck and three men arrived on time on the dot. They had estimated three hours for the move, but had everything packed and on the truck in just about two. They also graciously moved couches exactly to my mother's specifications and had the job completed again in record time. We needed to have a granite table top weighing about 200 pounds moved from a basement apartment up two flights of stairs to our dining room. It was too heavy for us to move, especially up the step steps from the basement. Called Jake's on a Sunday morning; they returned my call Sunday afternoon and by Sunday evening had made arrangements for 2 men to come by Monday afternoon to do the job. They arrived promptly at the scheduled time and completed the work in about 15 minutes. They were very professional. While they weren't cheap, I felt it was well worth the cost. I didn't want to damage my back or the table top trying to move it myself. Would definitely recommend Jake's Moving and Storage for this kind of in-house moving job.

I will definitely use Jake's Moving and Storage again whenever I move. I called Jake's Moving and Storage to move my sister's furniture, who is on chemotherapy, from her old apartment to her new apartment. The service was EXCELLENT! Having a relative on chemotherapy and moving is stressful enough but Jake's made the move pleasant and less stressful. The mover's were on time, looked over the apartment , explained what they would be doing, told me the price and than proceeded to work. The movers set up the furniture in the new apartment and if we needed it moved to the left or right a little more, they were happy to do it. There were 3 movers and everyone one of them were kind and thoughtful. At no time did I feel rushed or just another client. I gave them a 10% tip because they were so helpful and professional.

*****UPDATE******UPDATE******UPDATE***** Bad to WORSE- I filed a complaint with the BBB who rated Jakes an "A". This is the response I got from Jakes through the BBB. Pay close attention to the facts that: 1. Jakes offered $200.00 (which is really only $100.00 off because of the fee to use a credit card). I declined as the general manager said he needed to "investigate" the matter. I never received a call which is why I ended up posting a negative review. Isn't that what reviews are for? 2. Then he says he wanted to promote "productive dialog". Jakes does not understand one thing though- you need to actually answer the phone or respond to an email to have a dialog. I called and emailed them four times over two weeks and never got a response. 3. "blackmail"..."threats"...seriously? The only one making demands is Jakes by telling me I need to show "restraint" in order to resole the matter. At first I encouraged my friends to make sure they read all the small print and get a min and maximum of the estimate...at this point I have changed my stance to...PLEASE, NO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. Attn: To whom it may concern, After much deliberation and careful thought, we at Jake's Moving & Storage believe, that the Consumer (XXX) simply do not wish to resolve this matter amicably. The Consumer (XXX) was recently engaged in an online activity, posting numerous negative reviews in various websites regarding his overall moving experience with us. In his bias negative reviews, the Consumer (XXX) simply bashing Jake's Moving & Storage and its employees on all levels, twisting and manipulating facts. Consumer's recent actions clearly creates a contradiction, between a sincere attempt to resolve an issue with the Service Provider and the strong desire for provocation. We, at Jake's Moving & Storage, strongly believe, that every issue, every dispute between two parties (Re: Consumer Vs. Vendor/Service Provider) can be resolved in a civil manner. Therefore, we at Jake's Moving & Storage, would like to promote a productive dialog between us and the Consumer (XXX). In order to do so, the Consumer (XXX) must exercise restrain and project sincerity regarding the process of reaching a resolution with the Service Provider. (Re: Jake's Moving & Storage) Having said that, Jake's Moving & Storage under no circumstances, will tolerate Consumer's "blackmail tactics", and do not take lightly any type of threats, and/or manipulation in order to prompt consumer's agenda. At the 6th hour I’m told it would take an additional 3 hours so 9 hours total. Because of the higher price I did not have enough cash to pay for the move so I have to use a credit card. According to the small print there is a 5% credit card fee which cost me an additional $100.00. The entire job ended up being 53.5% over the contracted amount. General manager was called and he put all the blame on me saying my expections of getting it done in 6 hours was too high and that all move contracts go over by 20% to 30%. Also blamed me for not managing the move better by directing the crew and of trying to “take advantage of situation”. They also broke two legs of my master bedroom headboard and put a hole in an interior wall with no notification to me of the damage. This company has had had great reviews but beware and ask about “not to exceed” the quoted hours.

The initial contact was pleasant and easy to work with. What you would expect from anyone wanting to do business well. Preparation was easy, trouble free, and did not require a home visit. Where Jakes really excelled was in the team of movers sent to do the actual work. I have 11 times in 37 years. This was #12. These guys were the best. Searching and finding a moving company when moving with reasonable pricing can be so stressful on anyone. I was given a suggestion to us Jake's and I did. I started with speaking with Tracy and she was very respectful and knowledgeable with addressing my concerns that I had regarding my move, items, and pricing. I wasn't sure if the cost was gong to be extremely high because I had multiple locations to have furniture picked up. The cost was affordable and the contract was placed. As moving day got closer I received a follow up call from John confirming the move. MOVING DAY: I was called by Malik (I belieive) letting me know how close there were to the arrival time agreed upon. My experience on July 27 was a team of four: Malik, Javier, and Tony from Jake's Moving and Storage was nothing less than exceptional. My husband and I moved out of a 3rd floor, 2 bedroom condo into a 3 bedroom condo (all one level). So, the guys had to take lots of furniture down 3 flights of stairs. Also, they took an extra good care of all our furniture, wrapped it really well with their moving pads. They were very efficient, and very careful with all of our items. They were super nice, and ask questions if they weren't certain where things were going. When we got to the duplex- they unwrapped everything, and put in all furniture in the places that I designated. They worked like clockwork, so very efficient, that our move in total took only 6 hours, instead of 7 hours as estimated. It was great for us. We would definitely choose them again, and most certainly recommend them.

The WORST company I have ever dealt with. I had my fair share in dealing with movers being prior military, and this one wins the prize for being the worst. And it wasn't the actual workers, it was the rude ass Manager John who has absolutely ZERO customer service skills. DON'T TALK DOWN to your customers JOHN. Don't raise your voice or talk over and interrupt your customers..JOHN. They showed up at our house at 10:30am. This is a 3 bedroom modular home 2 bath and a hot tub room. 2000 sqft home. They show up with 3 people and a 24 foot truck. Once there...KNOWING the truck is too small, nobody bothered to call and get another one. My wife already packed alot at the house to begin with and they were hired to PACK along with load and move...yep...same 3 people to do it all. So the estimate was 2175 for the pack, move, unpack. They didn't have ENOUGH ROOM IN THE DAMN TRUCK. The move was only an hour and a half away. So, after they left half our stuff behind (now I'll have to rent a truck and do it my own damn self), We had them for 9 hours and after that it's 189 dollars plus a 5 PERCENT CREDIT CARD CHARGE if you use that. They finished over 14 DAMN HOURS. Why didn't you get other people JOHN when you knew this was going to drag out. THEY NUKE THE MOVE. You get charged for them FOLDING THE BLANKETS AND CLEANUP also....tick tock. Got there at 1030 am and finished at 1230 am. Cost me an ADDITIONAL 700 bucks AND THE JOB DIDN'T GET DONE!!!!! I will be letting all my military contacts in logistics know to stay clear of this company. I, as a 20 year Veteran of the United States Navy, Retired(2014) am being straight about this company being THE WORST THAT I HAVE EVER DEALT WITH. They EVEN TORE MY FLOOR which is linoleum. Oh John says they don't take responsibility for DAMAGING YOUR DAMN HOME. Tore it almost in half. Waste of money. Waste of time.

I had a very good experience with Jake's Moving. They called me on the way to notify that they would be a bit delayed, 15 min, and they came prepared with all the essentials. After a short conversation and explaining my needs they headed straight into work. They carried all my belonging 2 flights of stairs and where able to wrap the furniture within 2 hours. After medium length drive they put my furniture where I asked, no damages and no hassle.

It's a real local company located in Potomac MD with a real office and a real owner name Shimon Suissa. He showed up on time, and worked very quickly. I was surprised at the level of care they took with my girlfriend's furniture (they wrapped everything in pads). The entire loading process only took a few hours, and they were equally fast and careful with the unloading at her new apartment. Given how little they charged for the move, I expected to have a bunch of yahoos show up and toss everything into a pickup. :) But the movers were very professional, two loaders and a manager (Igal) who kept on top of the workers to make sure that they did everything correctly. Igal checked that all items were properly loaded and secured in the moving truck prior to their loading the next series of things. Very impressed, and would definitely use them again.

My brother and I needed to move out of our apartment and didn't have much time. We called over 10 moving companies and none of them could help us with the limited time we had. However, Jake's Moving and Storage happily fit us in and after the move was done, I couldn't help but come write a review for them. They were incredibly fast and respectful. None of our furniture was damaged and they ever helped us move our motorcycle which we didn't think they could move. I can't recommend them enough. We are gonna be moving again in a few months and we will definitely be using Jake's again!

To start John, was very helpful and great to work coordinating the move. Then when the moving day came, Man talk about effient the three gentlemen who were assigned to my job were Professional, careful and fast. I do not want to insult the guys by not remembering their names and I have misplaced my notes, I would tell you their names, but alas I cannot. Now saying that, there is one drawback Jake's Charges a SERVICE FEE to use a Credit card to pay for the move unless you pay with a certified check. In this day and age, I feel this is unreasonable.

Jake's crew arrived consistently on time and stayed within the contracted time on each and every move -- there were no hidden or surprise costs or charges. Jake's delivered in the allotted time and with great care with each and every item that was moved. Even with different crews on each move the quality and performance was consistent across all three moves. Jake's also delivered on price. I got several estimates before contracting with Jake's and they offered the best value of all of the companies I contacted. They are determined and highly motivated to do a great job and have the right attitude all around -- you can't go wrong if you decide to pick them to help you with your move!!! I would use them again and again, but after three moves I am hoping that I won't have to look at another box or packaging material for a long while.

Jake's moved us from a condo to a townhouse on Thursday, 12/28/17. The customer service they provided from the beginning was awesome, starting with John who was very thorough in his explanation of everything over the phone, to the three men that did the physical labor of moving us. All of the men were hard working, accommodating and timely. I was quoted for 4 hours and 4 hours is what they did (we did move the majority of the little things such as boxes and anything that was not big furniture ourselves over the last week by making runs back and forth in my SUV) to ensure that we didn't run over on the 4 hours. I even bothered the guys a few times to relocate furniture to a different place in the new house after deciding I didn't like the layout the first time around. They were so nice about it and very flexible with me. Moving is stressful as it is and these guys did the job. One of the legs of a dresser in my daughters room got messed up and I'm about 98% sure that it was not like that beforehand, but when I asked the guys they said it was already like that. All of the other furniture that had damage to it from the beginning, they were quick to pinpoint it so that I would know that it was already damaged. They did not bring this damage to the dresser to my attention. I was hoping my daughter wouldn't notice, but she was quick to ask why her dresser was crooked. We slide some cardboard underneath to even it out. Aside from that, they were great guys and I highly recommend them which is why I still gave them a 5. I hope to not move for a long time, but if I had to do it again any time soon, Jake's would be who I would call!

I couldn't have been happier and stress-free! Not only did Jake's coordinate my move in date with my last minute request, but was very thorough and helpful in making sure I knew everything I needed for preparation! Shout out to John for his helpfulness with that being said. On the day of the move, the movers called ahead to let me know their ETA, then once they arrived they got my stuff out so quickly! Once I got to my new location they walked around my space and listened as I laid out where everything needed to go and they got it in and unpacked quickly as well. I've moved 5 times and this was the first move I actually enjoyed. Highly highly recommend.

I spoke with John who told me the only way he would move my student was if I scanned copies of my credit card and driver's licence and emailed it to him. I explained this was not PCI compliant and he could lose his ability to take credit cards if his carrier discovered this and I was told he was a small business and that was how he did things. I would say that you should be very careful. Scanning and copying personal information is very dangerous.
