The movers showed up on time and moved my furniture quickly and efficiently- no complaints about that. However, I am annoyed by the lack of professionalism of the movers. From the moment the movers arrived, the driver let us know his displeasure that he had to move furniture from my former apartment complex, which has narrow stairs. According to the movers, my count of the number of staircases was apparently not accurate (very hard to estimate in my former complex, since the layout is like a maze), so the movers told me they'd add an extra charge or "I could treat the boys well." I was astounded. This is NOT professional behavior and puts the customer in a very uncomfortable position. All in all, I ended up paying $75 extra for my move (seemingly an arbitrary charge decided on by the driver) because I couldn't stomach the idea of handing money under the table to people who asked me for a tip. CCM should have a policy in place to deal with situations like this in a fair manner instead of leaving customers at the mercy of the movers. I do not normally write reviews, but I wanted to offer my view since it differs from many of the more positive reviews on Yelp. CCM has failed to cultivate my repeat business, and I will be looking at other moving companies when I move again for medical residency in two years.

What a delightful experience! From the quote to the day of the move James and his co-workers went above and beyond the call of duty. They were very professional and even had some funny conversations along the day. James made me feel comfortable and they even helped me get rid of some trash that was not even part of the estimate! Nothing was damaged and they showed great care for my items. If I ever move again I will make Charm City Movers my first and only call.

We used Charm City Movers for our recent move from a fourth floor apartment to a townhouse. The crew, numbers 7, 27, 11, 24 arrived exactly at the scheduled time and carefully reviewed the items to move with us. There was no elevator in our apartment building so it was a big task to get all our furniture and boxes down to the truck but the crew jumped right in and was incredibly efficient and professional. All of our fragile items and furniture arrived at our new home in perfect condition. All four of the guys were very polite and easy to work with. All in all, the whole process took only two hours, which given the amount of stairs involved, was really amazing. I also was impressed with the folks who work in their office who made the contract process very simple. I can say that after price comparing with a few other moving companies, Charm City was the best value.

Before they moved us they gave us a quote based on the items we were moving. They moved all our furniture without any mishaps and did not go above their quote. Great group of guys, polite, and stayed on task until the job was done. Will call them again whenever I have items to move!

Charm City Movers really came through for my wife and I for our move. Our first move date with this company was scheduled for a Wednesday and they called the day before to confirm the time and itinerary of the move. The crew that came were great, fast (but careful), efficient, and were upbeat and funny. Then my wife and I unfortunately overestimated what we could do on our own and I needed some more help. I called Charm City Movers back and spoke to Chris and he was able to get us back on the schedule today last minute. We had two of the same guys from the other day and two new guys. Again, they were absolutely spectacular and I can't thank them enough for everything that they did to help me get everything out of the old place and over to the new place. I would absolutely recommend them and use this company again for a future move.

Charm City Movers was able to fit us in for a three-stop move (furniture from two apartments into a rowhome) on a relatively quick timeline and gave us a quote based on the number of items we planned to move. They provided detailed information on what to expect for the move, and were easy to work with when we sent an updated list of items for an updated quote the day before the move. On moving day, three movers (Chris, Donte, and Tyler) showed up right on time and went straight to work. Chris checked with us to go over our moving list and make sure everything was accurate. The truck was waaay bigger than we thought it would be and was bigger than we needed, but they said they trucks were pretty much all that size in case they had a large move. The guys were definitely there to get things done quickly, but were communicative and pleasant to work with. They drove across town with us twice (Mt. Vernon to Fells Point to South Baltimore), navigated some tricky parking situations, and picked up all of the furniture and unloaded into the house and were done in three hours! They guys very careful with everything and things went off without a hitch. We gave them cold drinks and tipped them for their help and hard work. We paid exactly what we were quoted and are excited to start settling in to our new home. Thanks, guys!

Very displeased with the physical service. The representative(s) on the phone were very informative and extremely kind and accommodating as to my needs. This made me decide on Charm City after several other movers being very vague and dismissive on the phone. All this changed however when the movers arrived. I was told that I lucked out and that there were 5 movers showing up. This in reality turned out to be a nightmare as from the moment they showed up the only interest was to get my things in the truck as fast and as carelessly and unorganized as possible. No organization, order, or care was given to my items that were basically manhandled into the truck and only then covered or protected. Also it seemed as if my lessening of quoted items to be moved (I was able to move alot of smaller things the day before with extra help) seemed to displease the foreman even tho the main office was informed in the allotted time before. Once arrived at my new house this got even worse as the truck ramp was stuck (due to an earlier careless incident i witnessed). It was also obvious they smoked pot on the ride between my addresses. My items were then unloaded scarily off the rear of the truck in just as a disorganized manner as they were loaded. It took all i could to keep up with directing them as to where my items needed to go. Several items had to be moved twice due to the rushing. At one point I had to scold them to stop and slow down after being unable to direct 5 people at once as to whete to put my things. I will say nothing was broken (how do you break a couch) but as the only items that were moved was heavy furniture i can only imagine what boxes with fragile itens would have ended up like. They moved a total of 15 items in 2 hours for $520. Just glad it was over.

Customer service is great on the phone. When movers showed up different story. Didn't wrap in blankets brand new very expensive wood furniture, so when delivered to our new home, there were plenty of nicks, gouges, and broken edges. Luckily it is oil and wax finish and I sanded down imperfections with fine sand paper. Two small rips in sofa also occurred. A plastic wheel was broken off of a piece of office furniture and pushed underneath it so I would not notice. Very careless movers!

I had a last minute move due to water damage in my home. Felix and Charm City movers were available, recommended to me, and extremely accommodating. The gentleman who moved my furniture were careful, respectful, and professional. I could not ask for anything more and they will be moving me back into my home! Felix is just wonderful and kind!

DO NOT USE CHARM CITY MOVERS (ccm). Bottom line: for a company that offers a guarantee price, you WILL NOT get a guarantee from them, and you WILL receive poor customer service. I emailed ccm telling them about all of the furniture that I had and that I was looking to move on 8/13/2016. They told me that they have a minimum price of $400 and based on our conversation and my email, I had so little furniture that they could move one of my TV’s (I was willing to move both to save $) plus all my furniture and I still would not be above the minimum. They said this amount of $400 was all I would pay and reassured me of this multiple times. The day of, they got to my house and saw my sectional and told me that they had not been informed I had a sectional and it would cost be an EXTRA $120. TOTALING $520. I had no choice (I am a single girl) and had to agree. When they got to my new house, they told me that my sectional would not fit in the basement. I asked if we could try from the back door and they reluctantly agreed. We tried to get it through that door and it would not fit. Since they had been there for LESS THAN 1.5 hours, I asked if we could move the couch inside through the front door to the living room and I would figure out what to do. They told me that they “didn’t have time and wanted to get to the next job, then THEY LEFT MY SECTIONAL OUT OF MY DECK FOR ME TO MOVE IN MYSELF SO IT DIDN’T GET DESTROYED IN THE RAIN that night. The next business day, I called and explained how I was charged an extra $120, including a fee for a sectional that I told them I have that they chose to not put on their inventory list, and, on top of it THEY DID NOT EVEN MOVE THE PIECE THEY WERE CHARGING ME EXTRA FOR AND LEFT IT IN THE RAIN. I was told that they did have the sectional on the original email I sent but it “just must have been an oversight” and that they would get back to me the next afternoon at the latest. That was yesterday and since I did not hear from them I called them this morning and they did not pick up. Do not use, I honestly would not wish this awful experience on anyone.

We had a GREAT experience with Charm City Movers. We've done the whole "move it yourself and hire college kids to finish off the really heavy stuff for $150" routine before and a bunch of our stuff ended up scratched. Not ever doing that again after seeing real professionals in action. NOTHING was scratched, dented, broken, missing after they were done, and they were so quick and cautious. They were funny and pleasant which isn't necessary but really makes the experience nice. So professional, noting existing scratches on walls and furniture before moving anything to make sure everything was out on the table and accounted for. One furniture piece we have is broken, and they didn't notice until it was brought out to the truck, and they IMMEDIATELY came up and notified us, saying, we don't know if it was broken already or if we broke it. Very honest!! They could've just hoped we didn't notice. But they brought it to our attention right away and we acknowledged it was previously broken. Nothing but praise for this company. Definitely recommend them and would use again.

These folks are great. I've used them three times in the last few years, and each time it's been the same: the pre-move process is simple-- they ask me what stuff I have, and give me a quote. No haggling or nonsense about hourly charges. On moving day, they show up on time (aka 10 minutes early) and get my stuff into the truck quickly and carefully. They clearly know their business. Unloading goes smoothly-- nothing broken or scratched.

Beat the other quote I got by $250. They were prompt, efficient, and friendly and took everything in stride. I had to ask them to unload and reload two separate storage units to access some items buried in the back, and they just went to it. Honestly part of the reason I'm writing this review is so I can pull it up later if I ever need movers again!

The reason I chose this company for my move was because it seemed like they quoted me a fair price, and the woman I spoke to on the phone to arrange the move was so nice. She asked me about the main items I had to move, and I told her all the biggest items I could think of (all my things were in a storage unit in another town) and I estimated the number of boxes I had. She said, great, you're all set! I met the movers on moving day at my storage unit. When I opened the door to my 5X10 unit that held the contents of a 400 sq ft studio apartment, the head mover guy gasped and said I had way too much stuff. He said my items were not on his list. I looked at his list that listed my bed, day bed, rug, etc., all the biggest items I told the woman about on the phone. I said, I don't understand what you're talking about, I told her the items I had. He said he just didn't know, that they would probably only move the things on the list. I said fine, whatever, I'll move the rest. He said oh no, no, no, we'll move it, don't worry, just make sure you give my guys a really good tip. My moving day was a really big deal to me and I was so excited that morning. This guy took all the joy out of that morning from me when he acted like I intentionally deceived his company. Of course I found out later this is a common scam among movers to get a large tip. When we got to my new apartment they moved everything in. I carried the last couple things in when I noticed one of the guys was out on my new balcony, checking out the sites. I asked them if everything was out of the truck and they said yes. I didn't even know if they were done or not, they didn't tell me. As I was getting the money together the guy on my balcony came back in and started looking in one of my totes. He saw a pair of boots he liked, opened it, took them out and said those were nice boots. I thought that was really strange of him to go through my things and it made me really uncomfortable. I paid them quickly and was relieved when they left. I did not appreciate being scammed like that and overall did not have a good moving experience. I hired movers once before and they did not try to pull this stuff on me and were actually a lot more helpful, like willing to help set up my bed. I would not use this company again.

2 lady packers came to my house on September 24, 2015. They were the friendliest 2 ladies I had the pleasure of meeting. Not only did they pack up my 2 bedroom apartment with nothing being broken, but they also packed everything up in less than 2-1/2 hours. Totally amazing ladies !!! On September 25th, 4 moving guys showed up before 10:00 a.m., had my entire apartment loaded up on their truck and unloaded my belongings into my storage unit in less than 2 hours. These guys were totally amazing and exceptionally friendly and cared very much about my belongings being handled with extreme care !!! Would I use them again ? YOU BET I WOULD !!! Really great, flawless experience with these movers. Nothing but polite and professional. I hired them to move a two bedroom apartment (already packed) into storage and they knocked out both ends in about half an hour. I was late to the storage facility and kept them waiting but they were very cool about it. I already had a small storage unit and rented a larger one for this move. Turned out there was enough space in the larger unit to consolidate all of my stuff there. They went above and beyond by voluntarily moving all my stuff in the smaller unit to the larger, for no extra charge, even though this was not in the original order. I was very grateful. Thank you guys!

The people on the phone are really nice and give a fair quote, but the actual movers are scam artists. They complained THE ENTIRE TIME they were moving furniture. I know toddlers who whine less. Also they made strange comments and gave unsolicited advice about the items (i.e. "you should get a flat screen TV instead of this curved one" or "you should hang this on the wall"). When it came time to write the check, the foreman laid on the guilt pretty heavy to get a bigger tip. Save yourself the headache and hire more professional people.

I moved with Charm City Movers about a year ago and had an overall horrible experience, very similar to those with low-star reviews. It was my first time moving with movers, so I did not realize exactly how horrible this experience was until yesterday, when I moved again with different company that was phenomenal. During my move, my Amazon Fire Stick, along with an entire box of clothing, went missing. The movers insisted that I had more boxes than I indicated during quoting but if I “treat them right” they wouldn’t tell their office staff. I was moving alone and felt extremely uncomfortable receiving that comment. When I was instructing the men where to place the furniture, they made comments about how it would look better set up differently and would not move it until after I insisted repeatedly. My sofa started the move in perfect condition and ended with giant black marks across it from the truck being dirty. I strongly recommend against using Charm City Movers. Yes, their rates are a bit lower than the competition, but once you factor in the money they insisted I pay to “treat them well”, the pricing came out equal to other companies anyway (not to mention the missing items, damages, etc.)
