I've moved A LOT in my career(s) and have used various companies throughout the years. I also know the reputation that moving companies have and that is why I conduct thorough research prior to selecting a company to transport my personal items. In July/August of 2015, I moved from Maine to Florida. , I received quotes that ranged from $5,000.00 - $10,000.00 Allen and Coles was mid-range and (I forget the reps name/silly me). That rep came out to my house at LEAST 3 times to help put me at ease. I managed to get the weight down (thank you on-line yard sale sites) and the cost of the move was surprisingly low once I completed packing everything. It was hard work, but worth every moment that I invested into this move. I recommend that you pre-plan, sort, toss and pack accordingly to what you really need when make a long distance move. To make a long story short, the driver who transported my goods was one of the best communicators that I have encountered during a long distance move. For that matter, in customer service! He was exceptional. I failed to write this review earlier because ... I forgot! One item lost a screw during the move and one picture was damaged. I packed the picture so that was my own fault. But the screw? Would you believe he found a tiny screw in his massive truck and returned it to me? This driver was amazing. Back to the nitty gritty.... I interviewed close to 10 moving companies at least 4 months prior to my move. Maine is a tough market and some of the companies would not come out and conduct a visual. They wanted to take inventory over the phone or email based on what you tell them. I do NOT recommend this method. If they want your business, they need to come out to your house and conduct a visual. You will miss items. Moving is a very stressful time in your life. You are human. In the course of packing up items, you might toss stuff, sell stuff, etc. You might even buy more stuff since the movers are transporting it, right? The professionals will come out and meet you. They will make suggestions to help you cut costs, pack, etc. They will do everything this company does and PROMPTLY. I do recommend Allen and Coles of Portland, ME. Great service and standards.

Quick and professional. Started the process with Donnie O in the Portland ME office. Needed to move some custom cabinets / kitchen and granite and "needed it done yesterday". He had a quote to me within a day, and we finished with the Leominster, MA office finalizing our details via email and phone within 24 hours. The move itself was expeditious, yet the movers took the appropriate amount of time to make sure our items were wrapped, stacked and loaded properly to ensure their safety on the truck to the destination two hours away. Would highly recommend Allen and Coles for their professionalism and attention to detail. We are very happy with their moving services.

Rock stars and Hall of Fame are the words to recommend this company. From sales to driver to crew, the entire team provided excellent care and service. The sales and administrative team was accessible at all times--weekends, evenings, whenever we needed our concerns addressed. The driver and crew arrived on time or early and delivered at each stage of the process in our cross country move. The driver was a gem. He kept us fully informed, recognized the value of all our antiques, artwork, furnishings, and was good natured in the face of our anxiety. This was a complicated move from three sites on one side of the country into two separate historic buildings on the other side. Our sales representative met the delivery team and made sure--before, during and after the move--that we were happy. We were! We would use them again in a flash!

There are some times when you need to pass along the good word, even if you can't choose a business. Circumstances of our upcoming move dictated that we couldn't go with Allen and Coles to move us out of state. But that didn't stop us from wanting to thank them for a wonderful experience working with Tyler on the estimate and logistics of our complicated relocation. He was stellar. From the first time we contacted him through my telling him we were not going to use his company, he has been the consummate professional in every way, including follow-up and problem solving. I will always recommend this company since they have such great people working for them. And Tyler represents them well. We are so grateful to him for his intelligence and kindness, as well as his willingness to be flexible and patient with us as we threw him a few curve balls. As a former customer service trainer, I couldn't praise him more. As a mom, I would be proud to have him for a son, and know that he is out in the world treating people in a way we don't experience often enough. I recommend heartily that you give Allen and Coles Moving a call.

20+ military moves and this was by far the WORST. Don came out to do our move out survey. Said we'd need three full days to pack. Day one of the move and for an 8:00 show time, we receive a call at 10:30 saying they're coming tomorrow because they don't need 3 days. I called Crystal, who was organizing logistics at this point since she'd said they'd be there at 8 am. She was on vacation. I tried to call multiple other numbers and got no return calls. Day 2, 1 day behind they send only 2 people! More of the same for the following days. Finally reached Crystal late in to the 2nd day and she very rudely told me "it will get done!" Her customer service was ridiculous. Well it did end up getting done very late which put all of our well planned steps behind. More time in hotel. Rescheduling cleaners, etc. They had a company come out to box up our glass dining table. Don, the owner told me 10 days after our unpack was completed that someone would be calling to unbox it. Never happened! Had to have someone local do it here. Large master dresser had all 4 feet broken off and the bottom of our entertainment center loaded on top of it! Multiple other things broken. Our neighbors had a seamless move using Admiral Moving Co. Their packers were there on time and finished their move early. I'd certainly recommend anyone but them.

This company is the best. Start to Finish. Don Oldakowski took the time to give me helpful hints with packing and getting ready for the big move day. On time, friendly, courteous and provided a budget friendly price point. Appreciated all the information he provided me prior to the move. The team that actually moved me and the kids were on time, friendly and courteous. They worked quickly and efficiently throughout the entire day. They were communicative through out the entire process and took minimal breaks. All of our items were handled as if they were their own. Every team member was pleasant and helpful. This move is only temporary and I most definitely will be calling Don Oldakowski and his team next time.

If you are not available on the delivery day, it cost you. Fair enough. But if A&C exceeds their delivery window that's fine. The first day of delivery window we called for the estimated delivery date. We were told the company did not have a date for us, but the driver would call us 24 hours in advance of the delivery. He did not call. Near the end of the window we called again and we're told they couldn't find a driver! That was news to us. Our calling sparked a renewed interest in A&C finding a driver. Eventually, A&C delivered our household goods well past their delivery window. We then deflated our air mattresses. The late delivery pushed our move into a lower fate bracket. Our credit card was automatically charged for the full amount of the move without any consideration for late delivery and the personal hardships put upon us struggling day-to-day to carry on with our lives without our belongings.

Allen and Coles is fantastic! We had an amazing crew that was not only helpful, respectful, and efficient, but were also extremely friendly and easy to work with. They started early, worked hard, and stayed until the job was done. My crew was excellent and I give the biggest complements to Arthur King, Rodericus Buford Sr., Charles Martin, & Chris Post Jr. Charlotte Collins was so helpful in arranging everything. If we ever move again, this team will be my first call.

Disappointing move. Several damaged pieces of furniture. Things ere not packed safely. Biggest concern was that several boxes also have disappeared. We suspect theft. Several items were discovered after we submit claim so we are out of luck collecting anything. Move was also managed poorly and we incurred extra time costs because things we unloaded in wrong order. No attempt was made by Allen & Cole to compensate us.Movers were very nice to work with.

This is a very long story but we were scheduled to move on 06/24/2019. I had proposals with four different movers and chose North American/Allen and Coles Moving Systems. They gave me a proposal for almost $18,000 to move halfway across the country. I accepted and the move was scheduled for more than 30 days out which is what they suggested since it was their busy season. On the Friday before the move (06/21/2019) they emailed me confirming my move date and time. On the morning of the move they didn't show up so I texted our salesperson, Bill Biniszkiewicz, to which he didn't reply back. So about an hour later I called him and it went to voicemail. He didn't call me back so I texted him once again. They were supposed to be there by 09:00 and at this point it was approaching noon. He finally returned my text stating he was checking to see what was going on. After multiple texts and one phone call l was told that they weren't going to make it that day but MAYBE tomorrow. I said can you guarantee that? Bill stated he couldn't but would find out more and call me back. Another hour went by and by this time it was approaching 4:00 in the afternoon. I finally texted him and asked him if I should be renting a Uhaul (hoping it would light a fire under him) to which he replied "I probably should." To say I was upset was an understatement. This was all via text mind you. Finally, I ended up getting lucky and getting a 26 foot Uhaul and trailer so I could move most of our possessions and one car from New Hampshire to Wisconsin. I ended up leaving several thousand dollars of belongings behind because we couldn't get it in a 26 foot Uhaul. During all of this they didn't offer to help load nor did they even volunteer a simple apology. Not even so much as a simple "Sorry." Needless to say we may be speaking with a lawyer to try and recoup some of our losses. As one person stated if I could give them less than one star I would do it. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. IF YOU DO YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!!!!

Due to a setback in the construction, the building was not going to be fully completed by the date of the move with Allen and Coles. From the moment the team arrived to pack up our apartment to the last box moved into our new home, we experienced nothing but the best service. Along with any big move comes many emotions, but one thing we did NOT have to worry about was the safe and efficient transportation of all of our belongings. Our packing team (Arthur King, Corey Read, and Robbie Coomb) did a fantastic job, great attitude with high professionalism - everything was labeled appropriately in boxes and wrapped with plenty of paper. They even made sure screws that belonged with certain furniture were placed into small bags and attached to the appropriate corresponding item. Our delivery team (Arthur King, Bruce Hodge, and Josh Wyman) treated our furniture and belongings as if they were their own with nothing broken or misplaced. In fact, our bed was in even better condition when they reassembled it in our new house. The furniture could not fit up the stairwell - no problem - they brought it up through the upstairs window with ease. I would recommend this service to anyone who wants to take a huge weight off their shoulders during a move. Along with their wonderful work, they were also extremely pleasant. Complicated move gone very wrong. We were told we'd have two trucks to separate items going to different locations. (Some items were going to our camp in Maine and some to storage and then on to an apartment out of state). We were told we would have a crew of 4 men. On moving day we got one truck and 3 men. One of the 3 spent a lot of time on our toilet, and they all seemed very confused about how to get large pieces downstairs. They had been sent on another job the morning of our move and were exhausted before they even arrived – they were 4 hours late arriving but took a lunch break within an hour. Furniture was disassembled and parts were left lying around. They crew didn't know how to lift heavy items from the 2nd floor. Whoever decided to send our crew to do a different job first and then send us a small, tired, inexperienced crew with a small truck set the ball in motion for all the screw ups that followed…. Calls to the office to report the chaos we saw unfolding didn't help. The crew kept calling the office for help and couldn’t get a response. Overbooked, oversold, no one to send, etc... The move out was so delayed and the crew too small and so overwhelmed that we hauled boxes and emptied our garage ourselves. Essential hardware and parts to furniture were scattered around our yard. Our mattress was put into the truck uncovered and wasn’t boxed till it got to the warehouse for storage. The central office was pressuring the small, grumpy, exhausted crew to deliver our items that same night to our rural camp over a one hour drive away because they were overbooked. Because we knew the truck couldn't navigate delivery in the dark, we called and insisted on the next day for delivery. We were told there were no guarantees as to when we would get our items. After several angry phone calls, the next afternoon the same truck arrived at our camp in Maine (2 men). (They got lost on the way) Because items were all mixed on the truck, no out of state bound items had been off loaded yet so everything was still on the truck (which came close to tipping over on our driveway). When the driver opened the back of the overcrowded truck, items fell out and shattered. We helped with unloading and guiding. Items were missing from the delivery so I went back to the warehouse to meet with our sales rep to talk about how badly the move had gone and to look for missing items. He said he would waive charges to me for a “dig through” in the warehouse to look for my things? Over the summer we identified a table in storage we wanted brought to our camp when we realized we couldn’t take it with us out of state. That table was delivered,.but parts were left behind in the warehouse. I drove out to the warehouse (again!) to get the missing pieces. We were charged almost as much to deliver that table (with missing pieces) as we were for the move out of our entire home. We made an insurance claim for a broken desk, coffee table, dresser and shattered artwork. Phase two - Bruce and Wayne were prompt and hard working. There was a sense of time pressure, and a 3rd guy would have been very helpful. (Again disconnect between demands of a job and scheduling choices) Again, my husband worked hard helping with heavy pieces and figuring out how to get larger pieces into the elevator, etc. At the end of the day, the hardware to our desk system was missing. Our sales rep told us the desk would be professionally reinstalled for us on site. Instead, it was left in pieces because ABC Moving lost the hardware. We tracked down the manufacturer and got replacement parts and rebuilt it ourselves. More art work and dishes were shattered, a tv console was chipped, a jewelry armoire was broken, a desk leg was broken. I think our job was too complicated for this company. They were over scheduled, and skimped on staffing and time, with the attitude that we could recoup our losses for damaged and lost items with insurance.

While interviewing representatives for an upcoming move, my wife and I were fortunate to encounter Jeff Greaves. Jeff proved to be very professional in his approach and clear and concise in his presentation. He easily sold us on using Allen & Coles. The actual move, loading, transporting and unloading supervised by Chris and assisted by his crew made a normally stressful experience as comfortable as would be possible. They were hard working, respectful of our belongings and courteous in their interactions with us. I would earnestly recommend Allen & Coles for your next move.

Give the men a raise! (please read till the end) While we cannot claim to move a lot, being retired military we are not ignorant to the amount of back breaking work that loading and unloading entails. This is why when we schedule a move, I make sure we have professionals to do the heavy lifting and stacking; and typically, that means young people who aren't really into the job and just want to get it done, they don't understand customer service they just want the end of the day to arrive, so they can clock out and go home. It is typically a quiet day with a lot of groans and complaints spoken just under the breath so one hears them but cannot be clearly deciphered. That was not the case with Arthur and Drek. They arrived full of smiles ready to help us get into our new home. They were jovial, asking questions and engaging us in conversation and overall helped us forget about the herculean task ahead of us (unpacking it all). For three hours they labored continuously bringing in my boxes of books, papers and all of our other stuff stopping to make sure they were taking it to the right location within the house. Then once all is said and done they walked through all of the boxes with me to make sure they were in the right places, so we wouldn't need to move them once they were gone. That is what I call quality customer service. While we don't plan to move again anytime soon, should the need arise I will be calling Allen & Coles, and asking for Drek and Arthur!

The though of moving was overwhelming but Bill Biniszkiewicz and the Allen & Coles team made it easy and quick. The estimate was right on, the movers were there on time and it was done without one scratch to anything in 6 hours. I highly recommend them and they will take the frustration out of your move.

When the driver arrived on the day of the move he was incredibly rude and negative. We had been told it was possible to move from 1 location to the other in 1 day, although we had been told it would be tight. The driver was clearly unhappy with this and seemed to work more slowly in order to ensure that the move would not happen in the time frame we had hoped. He made my husband and I both uncomfortable, his attitude also clearly affected to the 2 young men working with him. At one point he said to my husband "Well, I was under the impression this is a corporate account and you're not paying for it." How rude. The way they carried many items, clearly labeled fragile, made me extremely nervous. It was almost as if they carried them less delicately. After they took an entire day to pack our belongings into the truck, which I had pre-boxed for them they then began driving down the highway excessively over the speed limit. We left just before them and were on the highway when my husband made note that a tractor trailer truck was coming up on us extremely fast. This tractor trailer truck was the closest to my bumper any vehicle has EVER been. I was incredibly nervous driving and as he finally passed us, at about 90 mph, we realized it was our moving truck. We watched as all of our memories & belongings rocketed down the highway hitting every bump hard. Due to traffic we had the pleasure of maintaining the speed limit and never losing sight of the truck in the distance which allowed us to watch his horrific driving and care of our belongings. The next day the driver would not stop referencing that we were a "corporate account" and gave us the impression that we were a hardship and that his superior had told him to do whatever we asked because we were a "corporate account." Their pace was so incredibly slow that my husband and I began literally running on and off the truck with boxes ourselves in order to get the job done. There was also a clear running joke, at our expense, between the driver and his helpers which they referenced by stating "the struggle is real" or "the struggle is so real right now." The driver even answered personal phone calls and made social plans in our presence. At one point the driver asked to use our facilities which we happily obliged and then he proceeded to smog the bathroom with his axe body spray before I could ask him not to. I am an asthmatic and this triggered breathing difficulties for me that lasted days. When they were finally finished and I was signing paperwork they appeared to be standing around waiting for a tip. I felt this way because the driver made comments about how nice my wedding ring was. His attitude was terrible throughout and even though we had planned to give a tip there was certainly not one coming and I can't imagine how he would think that there was. I absolutely do not recommend this company.

I have been moved twice now by two different crews with this company and have nothing but good things to say. If they hadn't been so experienced and good at what they do, my couch never would've made it up three floors to my new apartment. My salesman, Patrick Turner was also the best. He answered all of my questions and didn't make any promises he couldn't keep. He was also available 24/7 when I had questions or concerns. His coordinator Brenda was just as helpful and walked me through everything from scheduling to signing paperwork. Everyones attitudes were relaxed and helpful. I wholeheartedly do not recommend using Allen & Coles Moving Systems, doing business as an agent for Allied Van Lines, as an agent for North American Van Lines, or known as ABC Moving & Storage. I contacted Allied for a quote and in person consultation for a move from New Hampshire to Florida. The salesperson promptly came to our home to estimate the cost and outline the date of the move. He completely fulfilled the title of his role: he made the sale and assured everything would go smoothly. It did not. Although we had a signed contract and agreed upon pick up date, our shipment was not scheduled. I repeat: our shipment was not scheduled. On the date of our move we were told that our shipment was "double-booked" and there had been a mix up. From there, the communication was abysmal. The movers that did eventually arrive were courteous, efficient, and friendly. However, they were not surprised that my shipment was forgotten about. Our shipment arrived to Florida two weeks after the initial load date and three days after the agreed upon deadline. Moving is stressful, chaotic, and even the best laid plans, such as in my case, can be thrown to the wind in unexpected circumstances. I caution you when considering any moving company. Do your research. Go beyond the salesperson. Operate with your best interest in mind. Because this company will not do it for you.

We wanted to share that we had an excellent experience working with the three person crew, as well as Don over the phone. This is our first experience using a moving company ever! They worked closely with us, as we changed our move date due to pouring rain. As well as delivering to two locations. So packing all the furniture from one house and putting part into a storage unit and the rest in our basement ... took a lot of detail and memory. Plus we did it with about a week and a half notice! The crew had a wonderful attitude and we all worked as a team. It was a long day and total relief at the end. Thank you!

I had a great experience with Allen and Coles. We moved quite a distance: from western Kentucky to Portland. Pat Turner made sure everything went smoothly even when I changed my mind about several large items. He contacted drivers for our furniture and car, and found the ones that worked best with our schedule. He also arranged to have our washer and dryer prepped for the move, and coordinated the visit with the driver. I received several follow-up calls from Pat and Crystal, making sure everything was working out for us. Importantly, they were willing to invoice my employer (who was paying for the move) directly, saving us out of pocket expenses and the need for reimbursement. We absolutely recommend them.

While there was a bit of confusion in the paperwork/scheduling, it was corrected quickly once I notified the office. Most importantly, I was quite pleased with the movers, and especially AJ, who handled the move (along with a temp) from A & C storage to my new home. AJ was very responsive when I communicated with him throughout the move and he seemed to know what he was doing, helping to coordinate things with the temp worker (they worked well together). AJ also took care to lay down mats so as to minimize any floor scratching when moving the heavier items of furniture.

The movers have been on time and were hard working. When it didn't seem like we had enough movers to complete the job in one day, they were able to send more movers to ensure that it was finished on time. They are upfront and honest about cost. We have done both in-state moves and cross country moves. Moving is always stressful, but they go out of their way to make sure that everything goes as smoothly as possible. ALLEN and COLES MOVING SYSTEM's is FANTASTIC . Yes I hate moving. I hate it! I'm not the easiest person to deal with at times. The very first person I meet with was Donnie Oldakowski. This guy is great and Donnie covered the whole process and you could not meet a nicer guy. We changed a couple of things and weekends and evenings Donnie was spot on getting back to us. The warehouse is very clean and during my first visit I met Kathy at the office. She is very kind and the owner Julian Coles is definitely a character. He told me I hate furniture but I like you. Furniture was not made to be put on a truck driven around corners and be loaded and unloaded. He made me laugh at the time. At the end, the crew and everyone did a fantastic job. They were very polite from start to finish. I highly recommend them to anyone. 5 Stars!!!

He assured us that we would have a much more pleasant move than we did with our last moving company just 7 months earlier, which did not go well. He was absolutely right! The movers came and carefully packed our items in a timely and efficient manor. They were sure to ask if they had any questions about an item they were packing. Every box was labelled with it's contents. They let us know the plan for the day, when they were taking their normal break for lunch and when they were back to start working again.
