AVOID. Was allocated this "local" company for an international shipment. One of the two individuals allocated to pack my personal items stole a bottle of alcohol (spirits) and proceeded to drink the alcohol whilst on the job. He then proceeded to attempt to continue working, whilst intoxicated, resulting in me having to try to restrain him from injuring either himself and/or my personal property for between 3 and 4 hours. During this time the other individual continued to work, whilst not acknowledging the drunken state of her co-worker (other than to ask him to twice "go sit in the truck") - leaving it to me to "babysit". When they finally finished and were leaving I noticed they were throwing packing paper into my rubbish bin. When I went to investigate I realized that contained within the packing paper they were throwing away was an item of my artwork worth several hundred dollars. Given the weight of the artwork (wooden frame and glass), I can only assume this was a conscious decision on their part to discard an item of my personal belongings rather than to return to pack the item correctly. I never received an apology from Johnson United for either event, and was charged the full amount quoted for the packing service - despite both of the above events.

This company is the local United affiliate that was tasked with receiving our belongings from the long haul freight truck and delivering to our house. The leader of the crew was very friendly and polite; however, the moving crew did not really seem interested in doing the job the company was paid to do. They did not unwrap any of our furniture, nor put together the beds that were disassembled by the United affiliates on the other end. The workers did not take care to place anything on the floors to protect our floors or our doorways (the United affiliate on the loading side did all of these things prior to removing items from our original location). The moving crew was not very careful with our items and scratched the wood floor in at least one place, and banged a wall in another place. The biggest disappointment is that they were unprepared to deliver our Buddy Scooters which were noted in the shipping manifest. Since our items arrived in crates, I guess they didn't know what the manifest meant when it said "scooter". So, the two scooters (each weighing 250+ pounds) were in crates high up on a truck that had no ramp and was unable to be lowered. Because they were unable to figure out how to safely unload the scooters, we suggested they take them back to their warehouse and we would come get them. This wasn't a big deal for us... until my husband went to try and pick up one scooter today... The woman working in the front office was rude and insisted that he take both scooters today because we weren't paying for storage. Reminder: the scooters were only there because the company was ill prepared to actually deliver them. That is their fault, not ours. However, because the lady was so insistent, my husband went out of his way (and paid to take an uber to the location from our house twice) to get the scooters home today. While I've been happy with United on previous moves, I was not impressed with this local affiliate.

As a Realtor, I'm very particular. The entire Johnson Storage & Moving Company were terrific. The driver, Michael Graham was wonderful! All the boxes arrived and NOTHING was broken! I highly recommend their services.

No. Oh no no. I have no idea how this place has 5 stars. It's been over six weeks since this all started. Let's review: - I still don't have my things. - Your coordinator (Chloe) will not answer the phone or call you back if you leave a message. - If you're given a window for packing, expect the packers to come two hours late. - You won't get a phone call to be notified of the lateness until 10 minutes before the window is supposed to close. - Expect the packers to be unprepared. Packing was supposed to take one day. Not only were they so slow that they had to reschedule, they also forgot to bring a box for my TV. - Don't expect this company to coordinate with you or even call you back in a timely manner. If there is a way to go over their heads, it will be the only way you get anything done. -They will disassemble your furniture. Expect a piece of something to be left behind. - My delivery window was supposed to end today. My property is still in transit, and there is no ETA. - Do not give money to a company that couldn't possibly care less about you or your belongings. When my things get here, I fully expect damage.

From beginning to end Johnson Storage & Moving Co. made things easy. Other companies dates for delivery were much farther out. Mr. Tafarkis estimate was spot on, Ms. Sheila Gathwright was more than helpful all the way through, and I needed help. All movers, from the three that boxed my belongings and loaded the truck in New Orleans to the two that unloaded in rural Southern Illinois were professional and personable. Can't recommend Johnson Storage & Moving Co. highly enough.

My family just moved out of a house of 20+ years and I was dreading it. Security Van Lines made it very stress free. The movers were so awesome, paying attention to not scratch our new wood floors or chip freshly painted walls. I would recommend Security Van Lines to anyone looking for a professional and proficient company

It was a good experience, except the limited things that they can take. They cannot take any home products that are not sealed meaning any product that's open you have to take it with you. They made complaining comments about how I have too many books and if they ran out of boxes I had to take them with me. They said my furniture had some stains that "look like mold" and in that case they can't take it. They said that they were not informed about the 2 beds that were in my apartment. I don't like negative comments like these but I'm just sharing my experience.

Thank you for a great move! This was our first long distance move (LA to TX) and it went very well. The movers were great and even a few minutes early on the delivery date. Great experience!

Very good service across New Orleans ! I recommend them to all my real estate clients ....

A majority of our furniture (including washer and dryer) and boxes arrived crushed and damaged. They didn't wrap many pieces of furniture which resulted in the damage. Please don't tell customers furniture will be wrapped and not wrap it. They refused to answer multiple calls and emails. Would not recommend this company.

It was great all the way through from the moving quote to the delivery at the final destination. I highly recommend.

I contacted Johnson Moving & Storage in Kenner, LA, on Feb. 18, 2017 after reading their online reviews (Google & Yelp) and comparing them to those of their competitors. Shawn Marshall came to the apartment on Feb. 20, on short notice, and provided me with the most reasonable quote of those that I received. He made all the arrangements, working with Chloe Phillips, the Move Coordinator, for a load on March 2nd (two days after Mardi Gras). The load was delivered well within the expected timeline on March 7th. As I have unpacked the boxes, including those marked fragile, I have found no damage. The move not only met my expectations, but exceeded them.

I strongly urge you to stay as far away from this company as possible, whether its a local move to a long distance move subcontracted by Mayflower/United. They were dishonest, disloyal, and at times even deceitful throughout our entire move. I will outline the problems without move, and if you want specifics don't hesitate to get in touch with me and I will be happy to provide them to you. I do have to preface that Mayflower (the company we had contracted with) did recognize the faults of Johnson Storage, were sympathetic, and worked with us. They truly feel bad that were essentially cheated by Johnson Storage. Consultation: Dan Uhle, while a nice guy on the surface, is a snake oil salesman. He did not show up on our appointment date for consultation, in hindsight that should have been a red flag. When he did show up he was nice, and we decided to go with him because of his demeanor. Please don't fall for it. When he had us sign the contract he estimated the weight of our cargo at 3450 lbs (in the fine print you can only claim for compensation for a delay in pick up or delivery with a minimum cargo of 3500 lbs - a fact that he knew full well and did not divulge). He also nonchalantly had us waive our rights on obtaining the actual weight of our cargo. I do take responsibility for not doing my DD but I did trust him when he said that this would cause a delay and that they were a responsible company so this was not a necessity. Pick-up: The movers did not arrive on the schedule time of the pick up and ultimately not even on the scheduled day. We live in a downtown high rise (on the 21st floor) and had to book our freight elevator to help with the move. In addition, we had planned a trip to visit family and friends around the move, planning to leave town the day of. The movers NEVER called to let us know that they would not be showing up on their scheduled day. Glenda, our "move coordinator" was virtually unreachable. Dan was of no help. When we did finally manage to get through to her she reassured us that the movers would come that day, which they never did ruining our travel itinerary, forcing us to pay for an extra days rent, and stay at a hotel because we did not have electricity. They wanted to "accommodate us" by scheduling the move 3 days later. This was not possible because we did not have the apartment. We reiterated this and they reluctantly scheduled for the next day. Move: Movers showed up 2 hours behind schedule, despite us being the first move of the day. We have told them that we only had the freight elevator for half the day because they are booked well in advance and there was another move planned that day. The movers were unprofessional, they took frequent breaks, even going up to our rooftop to snapchat with some the residents of the building. This led me to have to pack and move our cargo myself because of the time constraints with the freight elevator and long journey ahead of us, since we had to alter our travel itinerary. Delivery: Dan assured us that we would be top priority because of the mishaps. This was not the case. The delivery was delayed 5 weeks (3 weeks past the last date of the delivery window) because of the disorganization of this company, despite repeated phone calls from the customer service at the Mayflower HQ. They went on to even lie to us and to Mayflower HQ. This is documented, and in particular it was Chloe, Joe Valdez, and Glenda. When our furniture finally arrived, approximately 1/4 of it was visibly damaged, and a number of items unrepairable (please ask me for specifics and I will be happy to provide pictures). A number of our items remain missing, and we are now 7 weeks from our initial pick up. Know that this was only a 700 mile +/- move, not a long, transcontinental move. The delivery team was fantastic (Virginia local movers subcontracted by Mayflower). They too felt sympathy for the way we were treated. Do yourself a favor and stay FAR away. We are talking to BBB and Mayflower HQ regarding this company and in particular the personnel that I mentioned.

This experience actually ended up being the worst moving experience I've ever had. Not only are they offering only $25 for almost $1K in damages and denying completely coverage on items that their own driver noted they damaged, it has now been 7 months and we haven't received a dime. This is disgusting that a company would do this to anyone. If anyone is considering this company, I recommend you look elsewhere if your belongings mean anything to you at all.

Roger Rydell

Johnson Storage & Moving just denied our claim involving their loss of a family heirloom and a cherished gift from a beloved friend. They did not deny losing the items. They said we did "not note" the missing items on the day our belongings were delivered. Everyone knows it takes time to fully unpack and complete an inventory of all items -- NOW WE KNOW WHY THEY MAKE YOU SIGN FOR THINGS THE SAME DAY THEY DELIVER!! We strongly urge others to avoid Johnson Storage & Moving Company if you want to do business with a reputable and caring moving partner. Shame on you Johnson Storage!!!! And, by the way, we would have given them a ZERO star rating if they allowed a score that low to be posted on this review rating.

Very "ON THE BALL"! Close attention to detail & anytime I couldn't reach the person I needed to talk to, they were very good to get back with me. Laid out everything and followed up great!

I just moved my family from Mandeville, LA to Katy, TX and used Johnson Moving and Storage for my move. The entire experience was great from start to finish and I had no issues at all during my move. All of the staff from the estimator to the packers to the driver and delivery team were great. I was given a quote and my final invoice was for the exact amount of the quote. Overall my families experience was great and we would highly recommend Johnson Moving and Storage to our friends and family.
