The coherence displayed by the movers from MidAmerican Moving & Storage during my last move is absolutely commendable. I wasn’t expecting much from the company as I didn’t really know much about them. But they were just unbelievable. The movers were very strong and organized. They packed and loaded all my belongings in just 3 hours. The delivery was made on time and the men assembled all my furniture for me. Highly recommended moving service.

It's been a few days since we had our stuff moved down from Iowa to Chicago. I could easily have used my colleague's pickup truck but we had a lot of luggage to be moved and felt it will be wiser to go for a moving company that could help move everything at once. I normally wouldn't write a review but then again the service was good, and they deserve five stars even though there was a slight mishap with one of the boxes which was later delivered to me within 24hours. Last week I was promoted to regional director to head a branch of the company I work for and had to move the next day. I left my family at Iowa since I was called up to resume work immediately. At first, I thought of a fast and reliable moving company to help move my boxes and furniture, basically strip the house apart. Two days after my arrival at Chicago, I grabbed my phone and searched for moving companies based in Iowa, there were quite a number of them but I just had a good feeling about MidAmerican Moving. I did some research and read reviews about the company; most of their previous customers were satisfied with the service and I decided to try them out. I got the customer care line from their website and put a call through to them. A female representative answered (I can't recall her name). It was around 1 pm and I was keen on getting them to send their men and a truck over the same day but the call rep calmed me down and assured me that she would get back to me with a fixed date since the moving vehicles were already hired at that time. More haste more waste they say so I decided to slow the whole thing down a bit. Fortunately, she called back within an hour and we were booked for the day after. I immediately alerted my wife and took a flight back to Iowa later that day. The next morning we woke up to meet the moving vehicle already in front of the house. They were punctual (I mean they arrived as early as 7: 30 in the morning). We got all the help we needed from 3 of their employees. They were happy to help us pack up and transfer all the boxes, furniture, and appliances. We had quite a lot and those three were godsends. They communicated very well, were obviously experienced and very professional in executing their expertise. We had some cabinets to unmount and they assisted with that too. It took 4 hours to get the truck fully loaded and ready to move. I, my wife and the kids took a flight back to Chicago and got to my new apartment in less than two hours. I checked on the driver once I had settled and he reassured that our things were safe and everything was good. Fast forward 11 hours later and I got a call from the driver saying they were a couple of blocks away. 11 hours to get a fully loaded truck to Chicago from Iowa; pretty impressive I must say. Everything arrived in one piece and we got help from the four friendly lads offloading the truck, unpacking everything and also setting up my apartment. After the furniture and every other thing were neatly placed in their respective corners and the truck was empty, they headed back for Iowa. I know moving companies get a lot of complaints, it's either they broke your guitar, left a dent on the wall or fell a couple of days behind schedule. In our case, Mid-American moving made our movement from Iowa to Chicago smooth and stress-free and on top of that, they were on time. The 3 employees that accompanied the moving truck were very organized and did very well. I sincerely appreciate the quality of their all-round moving and storage service. Moving is hardly at the top of anyone's to-do list, it's tedious and difficult; thank you for making ours convenient and affordable

I were just so reluctant to hire a moving company. But Mid American really convinced me. They were very experienced and took a very gentle but thorough approach in moving and carrying out my old pieces of furniture. They were very careful while loading them. When I received my furniture, I was absolutely ecstatic. All the pieces traveled without a scratch. I don’t think I would be scared of hiring moving companies again since Mid American Moving did such a good job. I would recommend them to anyone and everyone.

They were so respectful to all the old rusty furniture pieces I own. They very carefully transported them to my new house. These guys were great I hired them for my granny to move here from Tennessee and everything went smooth. I expected to receive my granny’s things within 3 days but it did take 5 days. I’m so grateful I chose MidAmerican for my cross country move. I spoke with several different moving companies and they seemed rather shady with their pricing system and also wouldn’t divulge the extra prices that come with moving. MidAmerican disclosed all the details from the beginning and that definitely eased my anxiety and made me comfortable choosing them. Worst moving company on the planet. We have a such a long list of complaints ranging from intentional misrepresentation to negligence to fraud that I can't accurately detail how miserable this company is while staying within the character limit. MidAmerican intentionally underestimated our move to incentivize us to use their services then proceeded to hold our items hostage for $1,200 in additional cash payments. At one point they threatened to leave our things in the street if we didn’t pay an additional $300. Many valuable items were broken, even those packed by MidAmerican. They failed to respond to phone calls and emails in a timely fashion. They lied about the location of the storage facility. They were rude, unprofessional, abrasive, threatening and had worse customer service skills than the DMV. If you still find the need to use this company we suggest requesting Kris, Max and Nick not partake in your move. Here are some examples of how our things were delivered.

STAY AWAY! STAY AWAY! STAY AWAY! We moved from SD to CT in June 2019. This is the worst Moving Company Ever! They don't reply to your emails unless you call them 20 times. They were 7-8 days late for delivery. They over charged me. Estimate vs the actual cost had a huge difference. They lost Coffee table glass and and I had to call them many times to follow-up. Finally they found my glass but now they are not responding to my calls or emails and ignoring me. Save yourself time, stress, and money and choose another moving company!!!!!!!!

TL;DR 0 stars, took a month to get to us. Most of our items are water damaged or smashed. Charged based on estimate weight and didn't actually weigh our stuff, they charge based on weight. Do not use at least for long distance moves. We used the company for a long distance move from Des Moines to Orlando. We highly recommend looking elsewhere. We were told to use this company through a broker, United Relocation. They go based off weight and since we only had 55 boxes, a king purple mattress, and 2 dressers we figured we could be moved at a decent price. They said 1600 based on a 2000lbs limit. We paid 326 upfront to have them come out and the another 600 at pickup to supposedly make up what would be half the cost based on a 3000lb estimate because he likes to go over on his estimaese just in case, but they will be weighing the truck for an exact amount. They asked when we were going to be down there and we told them the 1st, 2nd, or 3rd of July. They picked everything up the 24th of June. We were told it would probably take them a couple weeks to get down there and they would probably arrive around the 10th-15th. We called numerous times to find out when they were going to be there after the 15th had passed. No one answered and the broker said they would try to get ahold of the movers, but even they couldn't get ahold of them and they never called us back anyways. We found out after trying to get ahold of them for a few days. On the 22nd of July I got a call from the driver saying he would be there the next day between 4-7 maybe sooner if he finished with the job prior to ours early. The next day we went to a late lunch, 2pm, and I texted the driver to let us know if he was going to be early. He texted me right when we were ordering saying he would be there in 25 minutes. So we left lunch. We got there and got everything ready for where we wanted our things to go and moved our cars out of the driveway. 45 minutes went by and I texted the driver to ask if he got lost, our property is new as of September but it is on Google maps and Apple maps. Another half an hour goes by and I get a text that he was coming the next morning with our stuff. He texted the wrong person that he was on the way. So we went back out to eat. The next morning he arrives and we get the total of 1126, on the phone he told me 1026. We asked to see the weight. THE TOTAL WAS BASED ON THE ESTIMATE, THEY NEVER WEIGHED THE TRUCK. The dricdrsaid he couldn't do anything about it and even he couldn't get ahold of his boss. They don't have a voicemail setup to even leave a message. And after we called we were told to text them. We texted everything and still have not gotten any sort of response. We finally pay the driver and he starts bringing in all our items. They are almost all wet and smashed. Driver told us to call the company and we had 2 days to send all the pictures of the damage.

MidAmerican Moving & Storage were truly amazing. The team was professional, efficient and got my entire move from a 5-floor walkup complete with no complaints. They even helped me disassemble and reassemble very large pieces of furniture and were very careful with our fragile pieces. There were no surprises in pricing and everything proceeded just as expected from our estimate. After the move was complete, the sales rep reached out to make sure everything went well. This extra touch went a long way to make the experience a pleasant one.

This is the absolute worst experience i had trying to move, it started out great and they were nice until i signed the moving agreement and made my first payment and it went down hill from there. i worked with Gary and he was nice and then no where to be found after, then my bank notified me they had charged me the same amount twice of 658.44. They were supposed to charge me 658.44 after reserving/booking them and get another payment after picking up my things and then the final payment once they delivered which makes sense for both parties but instead they charged me the first payment after i signed the agreement and another a few days later. i wasn't mad because i figured it was an error and could be corrected but i couldn't get a hold of anyone. i called several times and even left voicemails but no one called back. Chris then answered the phone this morning and said it was outside business hours and that he'll call back in an hour when they open but he didn't, i called again and he was rude and unprofessional and just sounded uninterested and just wanted the call done with. i had to find another company today but prices had gone up because of the timing. This is just unfortunate and i just don't get what went wrong but i'd rather pay more for better customer service and no fraud than deal with this company. oh by the way this is Esther, i'm writing this under my husband's email

Great experience moving from from MN to FL Found them through Craigslist in local Miami area and began my research to find that they were rated fairly high on google reviews and yelp so I thought I'd make the call. I spoke with Gary who gave a me an estimate that beat the other companies so I was in. Gary was able to get me a crew and a truck in less than 24 hours so I have no complaints considering how hard these guys worked. The crew was Demitry, Andre and Nick (apologies if misspelled). These guys were amazing and I would recommended them to anyone. These guys busted there behinds with a smile while cracking jokes and having a good time along the way. With Demitry you got guy who probably could lift the house himself with Andre who looks like he will lift the house and the truck. Nick is a great kid who sounded like he is excited about college and working hard to make some money with the team. Just an outstanding hard working crew trying to make your move as easy as possible. Way to go Mid American Moving and Storage for the quick turnaround and great crew!

5/11/18 I am very frustrated. I have been trying to get someone to respond to me. My belongings were packed up on 4/23/2018 in Colorado and I have not yet received them in Florida. I keep getting voice mail (or full boxes) and no one has responded to email or voice mail. If you work for the company please contact me my Job number is L7537724 5/12/18 I plan to contact the company every day until I get an update. I also will be updating this review as we progress. I hope to have someone contact me so that I can also have a friendly and perhaps outstanding review. To be fair. I did reach Chris on last week Thurs 5/3. He did tell me that my belongings were still in the Denver area. ***Note: I am in a wheelchair and need my belongings. Outside of this lack of communication the company did well with my packout. Will have to see what happens with the delivery.

Do not use this company...it is not worth the hassle, lies, mediocre service and disrespectful attitudes. Use a reputable company which will end up costing much less or even just doing it yourself versus using this company. My recent move was a nightmare. They estimated an equivalent size for 13,000 lbs at just under $10K. Upon arrival and loading 2/3 of my belongings, they demanded an additional $5K...basically 150% of estimate. The final weight was near 9,000 lbs. It was full service packing, but the foreman Nick refused to condense and pack my plastic totes for which they destroyed a few in the parking lot...but still charged me for the sqft after stuffing the contents to other boxes, and for packing them since everything was based on sqft. They used old trashed boxes from my trash bin rather than new boxes. They took a ripped up box and completely slapped tape around it to hold it together. They took my brand new moving blankets out of the plastic and used them rather than packing them. Again, this was suppose to be a full service packing. After receiving my items, many things were damaged, missing, and many boxes has excessive empty space in them. My furniture was missing many screws, and they refused to assemble. They tried to dump as many items into the garage rather than bring them inside which made it impossible to do inventory. Very rude and lack of attention. Many damages occurred to my belongings and to the residential property on both ends. My estimate was for full insurance, and upon arrival, they claimed it was 60 cents per lbs and changed the terms of the contract. The foreman Nick kept demanding I sign it, and kept threatening he was going to leave my remaining items. I am still working through trying to file my claim as there were so many things to go through, and document...a real headache. The total damages to my belongings, damages to residential property, missing items and more are currently near $30,000s. This company and especially the foreman Nick have intentionally committed fraud. They only communicate through text. Once I did receive get a person, and his English was very hard to understand...sounded like a heavy Russian accent...not midamerican. Again, it is not worth it using this company.

I used Mid American Movers & Storage for their storage facilities. I was able to contact Kris and he was very reasonable on the pricing for a storage unit on a monthly payment plan. So far, things have been smooth sailing with Mid American Moving & Storage. Couldn't recommend them enough.

I'm only giving them a 1 because I can't drive them a negative!!! Took our deposit...TWICE!!! When we tried to call them to confirm and change the date, no answer. Left 10 voice messages, no return calls. Left a message with Aaron at which point we got a creepy, b just text me message. Why am I texting a main business line??? Sent email to Gary to cancel to move and never heard a word. 1 day before the original scheduled move date were got a call from a subcontractor to move us. Told Gary was the owner and he wasn't told. Still can't reach them and have filed a Fraud complaint with our bank to get the deposit back. DO NOT USE THEM!!

I’m not gonna lie at first I was kinda skeptical because I’ve always used my dad and brothers to move me around but because this was such a long distance move I went with a company. these guys were awesome.from the customer service I received from my sales agent to the very hard working and polite group that picked our things up and the other group that dropped our things off from Jax Fl to Birmingam. All awesome awesome awesome now if I can speak on the good I can also speak on the bad my glass dining room table was shattered and a few glass kitchen items but they were very polite about guiding me to the right direction to file a claim. I have a lot of friends that look to me for referrals on things like this and i will definitely suggest them. I would also use them again. Depending on if their claims department help me buy another table.. lol kidding. good company.

Our last move with MidAmerican Moving & Storage was completely effortless. It was so easy getting a quote from them. The number was quite reasonable. I wondered how the actual move would go. But fortunately the movers I got were very experienced and professional. They took only 3 hours to finishing packing and loading everything. They delivered my belongings on time and in great condition. The final matched the quote perfectly. The best part was that I didn’t have to do anything. What a rip off!!!! 17 days and still have not received my sisters belongings! This is the worst company EVER! Nothing but empty promises and increased costs! Charged triple what they quoted initially! DONT USE THEM!! They threatened her with suing if she didn’t pay them. My sisters tool box with thousands of dollars in tools was never found and all of her furniture was scratched. They did not set up her bed right! What a joke this company is!! MidAmerican Moving & Storage is an awesome moving service. The foreman and his team packed up my things and moved them so efficiently. They were organized and did not draw out the time. All our things were well cared for and they took care to put things in the correct rooms after the move in such a way to make unpacking easier. Don't trust this company at all. They hyped me with promises they couldn't keep. Then when I canceled my move with them within the contract dates specified in the contract, they decided they would just keep my deposit. Almost $1000.00 I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and they replied to them that my deposit was justified and that the check was in the mail. No. They are attempting to just keep my money, counting on the hassle it will be to get it back after moving out of state. Not the kind of people I like to have around. Pitiful. I'm not done.

I have never seen more reliable moving company than MidAmerican Moving. I live a life of regular relocation and I have used the services of many moving companies. While some people can be really picky, I am usually just glad if a moving doesn’t try to rip me off. They not only didn’t rip me off but they provided amazing services. Their movers were just the best I have ever seen. They were punctual, energetic, strong and very quick. Everything went very smoothly in this move. All my belongings reached my new house in perfect condition. I really have a lot of respect for these movers.

Do not trust this PILE OF CROOKS that prey on honest, trusting Midwesterners. Quote: $5300, delivery 4-8 days after pickup, payable by credit card, all items that protect your belongings included, like shopping blankets and mattress cover. Reality: $9500, delivered 2 weeks after pickup, payable ONLY by cash or POST OFFICE MONEY ORDER, blankets included, mattress cover, yes, but not for mattressES or box springs... oh... and they won't move them unprotected. Every time something bug money related came up it was last min bye and after business hours. They will say anything to get you hooked and then bait and switch when you are out of options (because you close tomorrow and the banks are closed). Don't believe ANYTHING you are told unless you can get it in writing on a document you sign.
