Ricky and his crew are absolutely amazing! Very professional, efficient, personable, and courteous. They ALWAYS make sure our items were very well protected and secure. I had such peace of mind with them. We have moved alot and every single time, I call A-1 Movers. We have alot of breakable pieces of furniture and wood like a huge glass curio. Nothing is EVER scratched or broken. I recommend these folks to everyone!! My husband and I couldn't be more pleased. If you want your move done right, you definitely want. A-1 Movers! Thanks Ricky!

We were referred to A-1 movers because the moving company we called were all booked up. Three moving guy's, took twice as long as the other company, even with same amount of help, and almost cost double the amount. After they left, we found scratches on our furniture, marks on our walls, multiple boxes just left in garage that they were specifically told to bring in, and an antique server was also left in the garage. We asked when initially called, if they knew how to move a Grandmother clock, they said yes, well they didn't. We had to hire someone to come reset the clock. The other movers, "Almighty Movers", knew how to reset the clock, moved us in half the time, and had a further distance to move us, and charged almost half the amount. We did eventually receive a refund for the clock repair, after contacting them a few times, however would still not recommend them unless they could improve the efficiency of their movers, and adjust their pricing.

Plain and simple, this is only moving company you should ever rely on. Ricky’s team loaded up my 1 car garage and 2nd floor apartment furniture and had it unpack at our new location in 2 and a half hours. 2nd time I’ve used them (same crew) and they were outstanding both times.

It was a mistake to hire A-1. I was standing in my driveway for an hour and fifteen minutes before they showed up. And at about 30 minutes after my scheduled time I was told they had to stop and fill up a cooler because it was going to be hot. Only to find out later that the people slept until about 10 when our moving time was 9. The move went okay. Only okay. Then I was charged 400+ dollars for approximately an hour and a half of actual work, driving time included. So my experience is ugly. I see damn near the same problem all the way across the bad reviews, so be aware that this may happen.

Best movers in Des Moines! We had an amazing experience with A-1 movers. Courteous. Prompt. Efficient. Extremely nice! This was the the third time our family has used A-1 because their level of service is phenomenal. We plan to use them for an upcoming move this summer.

A-1 gets an A+ from us. The were courteous, respectful, and flexible. Due to a previous appointment cancelling they were able to get us in earlier than expected. Additionally, they were very efficient getting done sooner than expected. The took the time to wrap everything and be careful. If you want the job done fast, try to have as many things boxed and ready to go when they show up. Would highly recommend them without any reservations.

Two of the three movers were great. The third was the bosses son and hardly did anything all day. My husband called the owner and he said he’d refund money for the third worker. Four months later and several calls, the guy refuses. Horrible costumer service and dishonest.

I would like to first off say the movers were late by 45 mins and did not contact me beforehand to let me know. Secondly, they are WAY overpriced. I had everything boxes and ready to go. The move itself only took two hours TOTAL. I was moving from DSM to Waukee and given a bill of $479 (for a one bedroom apt with not dining set and only 15 boxes). Also, I had to move anything not in a box, leaving all tvs and electronics to me to move; they did not grab all my wall decorations either. Note, I have moved for work (3) times in the last year for work and NEVER received a bill this high for such little work. Instead of charging mileage, they bill you at a rate of $135 per hour.. meaning, I paid for travel time at a rate of $135 per hour on top of a $50 service fee. HORRIBLE company and will never recommend or use EVER again.

Ricky and Matt moved our entire 3 bedroom apartment in just a few hours. They were very professional and much cheaper than the competition. I would recommend them hands down. Hopefully we don’t move soon but when we do, I will certainly call A-1 again.

3-months ago. I do not know about others, but our experience was outstanding. They were professional, courteous, and prompt for our move. They also were flexible to accommodate the uncertainty of our schedule due to closings on the houses. They worked hard, going above and beyond in my opinion. When they entered our new house, the first thing they did was cover the floors to prevent any damage. They took great care with our belongings, and to date we have not found any issues, unlike the last company we used five years ago during which move several items were broken or damaged; we filed insurance claims, and to date we have not heard from them. A-1 Movers was the fourth moving company we have ever used, and they were by far the best. As I said, I have no idea of what may have happened elsewhere, but our experience was great, and we would have them again if the need developed.

UPDATE:2/6/19 1. A woman claiming shes trying to "run this business" called me saying she is trying to run a business so she wants to know why I left a 1 star review. No problem there. The problem occurred when I tried to explain why I gave my review she kept Interrupting and telling me that I was wrong and that I was just hurting the business. She yelled at me for leaving my review before even trying to hear what I had to say! She was flat out harassing me for my Google review which is my opinion 2. As the conversation continued her tone and attitude with me was out of this world ridiculous. I had to make sure that I wasn't being over sensitive about her tone so I put the phone on speaker and let 3 other coworkers listen to how she was talking to me and we all agreed she was very rude and belligerent for no reason! Side note: I got an attitude AFTER she started being rude to me! 3. She called me stupid and told me I needed to go back to school. I asked her to stop interrupting me and she said she doesn't have to listen to someone who is young enough to be her daughter 4. She THREATENED me with a lawsuit if I made another review about her company! I will not be bullied into being quiet! I stand by my original review! She WAS NOT clear what to expect for my price. 5. Just know she will quote you for an hour but you will literally never get that price! All I needed moved was a bed that was already broken down, a dresser, and a table(a table which now has scuff marks on it) and like 4-6 small items! Point A to point B is 5 minutes! I had everything packed and at the front door besides the dresser! The guys said oh forsure we can knock this out real quick! If I'm not mistaken it took an hour and a half! So for that amount of time for the price of around $265 this company is NOT worth it! 6.If you have any issues with this company they will not try to fix it(based off my experience) the "woman in charge" will just yell at you, insult you, and definitely won't listen to you! So what ever you do don't Express your dissatisfaction because they will threaten you with a lawsuit! The "price quote" is bogus! I was charged and extra $100! And they didn't help me put any of my furniture together! The movers were very nice but the overall experience and price was not very good! If you're gonna spend this type of money be sure to get your monies worth! Aka help setting up and an upfront honest quote!

They were 2 hours late without notifying me. They were tired and slow from the previous move they came from. One of the guys did his best and kept a steady pace, the other was total dead weight. I was organized, had a small amount of large items and my move was close by. It cost me close to $800 when it was FINALLY over with. I've been scammed and ripped off my fair share of times but this really hit hard and I regret ever using this company.

We were looking forward to working with a local moving company- bad choice! To keep a long, terrible story short they broke my 4 month old son’s crib. Their “wood guy” fixed it, however there is still a huge crack where it broke. Since the piece was a support beam hopefully it will still hold up like it’s suppose to for my son’s safety. I am planning on asking them to replace the part. While moving they did not cover our floors (this was after a big snow storm), so our carpets and wood floors were trashed. I had to spend $35 on flooring covers to prevent this from happening at our new house. Their website states they provide what is needed for the move- apparently that doesn’t mean covering the floors. When asked one of the movers said they could, then the guy who seemed to be in charge said no. They said they left tools at someone else’s house so they had to borrow ours. This isn’t a big deal, except they then left them at our old house. Luckily we had spare tools in the car so they were able to put all of our furniture back together. Even though we had the tools they still didn’t tighten any of the bolts holding our furniture together. We noticed before we put it all back together because it wouldn’t have stood any weight. They also broke a piece off our freezer, which is now very wobbly and unstable. During the move to our brand new house, my husband offered they could move items through the window in the basement since it was a difficult staircase. They moved our furniture through that, but dented the window in two places. Luckily the window fit was able to be put back together. However, I asked how they were going to fix it and they told me it wasn’t their fault since my husband made them move through the window- this was ABSOLUTELY not the case. If they were uncomfortable with this they had every option to say no. When it was all over with, we still had large items at our old house they didn’t get. We told them we were done since we didn’t want to waste more money with poor quality of work. Plus, we didn’t know what else they would break. They then left all the wrapping they used for our move in the middle of our driveway for us to clean up later. We even provided them with lunch without so much as a thank you. I am VERY disappointed in the service we received and would NEVER recommend them to anyone.

Emailed back and forth to set up the move. Quick responses and helped me figure out details on cost. Moved a house and garage from storage to a raised ranch with stairs. Trey's crew was great to work with. They got lost and showed up 10 minutes late. Called to say they were a little behind. When they got there all 3 guys apologized and got right to work. Didn't stop for anything other than to swing into Casey's for a drink (they asked if I was fine with that before hand). I have antiques so I am a little touchy on moving. They did a great job. Put stuff right where I wanted it. No dings or scratches. Hoping not to move for quite a while but if I do, I will be using A-1.

Moving can be stressful. The team we had was thorough and very patient. We had to pick-up items from a couple different locations and packed the truck. They were efficient and hard-working. No one likes moving, but they definitely helped ease the process. We'd use them again.

I have used this company to move two separate times. Both time the movers, especially Sean, were very professional and cared about our things. During our second move, we had an issue with our treadmill being broken. Both Amanda and Ricky went above and beyond to take care of the issue. When A-1 found out about the repair costs, they replaced the treadmill! I couldn’t be happier with their service. Their customer service went above and beyond what I would expect from a moving company. I would recommend them to anyone needing a moving company who will take care of your possessions and look after the details. They have earned the name of A-1!

While they were the ONLY moving company that could move us on short notice. They couldn't fit all of our stuff! They also didn't bring any moving blankets so we had to provide our own blankets for items. On the receipt we received it had our 2 sectionals marked down but also marked that we had 4 love seats?? We were quoted between 350 and 400. I understand a quote can change and that's fine but they charged us $700! They were also late. The weather was horrendous and were warned that there would be a delay or cancellation but they were about an hour and a half late with zero communication from the company. Handful of other things but I'm just so exhausted and have to find different movers to finish what they didn't....too expensive.

A-1 showed up a few minutes before schedule. They were polite and friendly. More importantly they were extremely careful! They wrapped everything in pads and plastic. They took time and didn't just ram our stuff into their truck. They never told us they couldn't accommodate our requests, including not stacking our furniture on top of other furniture. If all of this wasn't enough they provided great service DURING a winter storm. They kept assuring us "A-1 will not quit until the job is done". We would definitely use them again!!!!!

This is NOT "A-1 Getter Done Movers!" or "Always Affordable Movers". I contacted this company to make sure they had no affiliation with the "Getter Done" movers because I had an awful, gut wrenching experience with the "Getter Done" movers. When I contacted this company to make sure they weren't affiliated the Owner of the company IMMEDIATELY responded back and said they are NOT in ANY way affiliated with them. A couple of minutes later she CALLED me on my cell phone to ensure that I knew they weren't and that they have never had any issues with their company or complaints until the "Getter Done Movers" named themselves "A-1 Getter Done"... The "Getter Done" Movers are awful, beyond awful. BUT! This company is the kindest, most professional I have ever dealt with, she treated me like I was one of her family members, and i am not even a customer of theirs...yet. I would HIGHLY recommend them based solely off of the professionalism and kindness I encountered on this chance meeting.

Where to start? The office manager is very kind, but don't let that fool you. She will write down your phone number wrong and is kind of the only person you will be able to talk to so if she is at fault she will just push you aside. Once I finally got the correct number to them, they were able to call and tell me my move that was scheduled at 2:30 pm wouldn't start until 4 or 5. That soon turned into 6 or 7.... and finally they arrived at 8:30 pm! After waiting 6 hours after their promised time, spirits were low and I just wanted to get the show on the road. Luckily they did as well. I was satisfied with their pace, one even had time to pee in my toilet. The move finished at 11:30 that night which is kind of late since the move could have ended at 5. The next day, I drove back to get the last few items, and lo and behold, I was welcomed to a toilet full of stranger urine. I literally had just cleaned that toilet. I knew at this point that I was extremely unsatisfied with the service I had received from this company so I called the nice office manager lady. She actually cared less about my problems than I thought she would, except for the pee portion. She was on my side for that one. Anyway, I thought I would write this review because it is the only way my story will reach the light of day. Find a different mover, this company is trash.

Very unprofessional. They showed up late, took their time between loads to run up the time so they could charge more. Only one guy carried an item from the apartment to the truck, and from the truck to the apartment at a time, and took them at least 5-10 mins to come back to the apartment from the truck. They brought a dead power drill with them, which they had to charge at the apartment, wasting another 20-25 minutes before they could take down our bed. We had a brand new couch they scratched in five different places, and when told about the damage to our couch, they told us it's because the couch was too big. The same couch had been moved in and out of apartments and never been scratched. Don't waste your time with this moving company...they don't respect your furniture and behave unprofessionally. There are way better moving companies out there. Never will I hire them again or recommend them to anyone. Horrible, horrible service.
