Do Not Use Planes! We used Planes to move us across town...BIG MISTAKE!! In the move, we had numerous pieces of furniture scratched, eight glass items and/or heirlooms broken, and hardware for our dining room table lost. Although we purchased the maximum amount of insurance available in order to protect us in case of mishaps, they denied all our claims except the reparation of the scratched furniture. What a waste of our money that insurance policy was. When the furniture repairman came to our place, he told me that the hardware for our table couldn't be replaced because the table is no longer being manufactured. Although the claims adjuster directed him to find the replacement parts, once he determined that they were unavailable, Planes claimed it was our fault that the parts went missing, and they refused to give us any compensation for the missing hardware. To boot, they gave us absolutely nothing for all our broken items, even though we sent them pictures of the items and the boxes they were in. The writing on the boxes which I packed myself said: "Curio Cabinet Contents. Very Fragile!!" All the items were wrapped in moving paper, and the words on the box were written in black magic marker with two underlines under "very fragile." They mishandled our possessions in a BIG way. The crew jammed what was supposed to be a three-day move into two days, so that by the end of the second day, they were exhausted. My husband and I feel sure that their exhaustion led to the mishandling of our items. Worse than that, the Planes claims adjuster bore no responsibility at all for the botched job they performed. I Repeat: Do Not Use Planes!

For us, best decision EVER! Everyone who was involved was polite and efficient, and very respectful of our home - both the one we left and the one we moved into. Everything was in storage for 2 months and so far we have found nothing damaged nor broken and I don't expect to. Everything was backed incredibly well, might I even dare to say, excessively well, but I totally understand why Planes does it. Around the same time we were moving there were news reports of peoples stuff being held 'hostage' by other movers and prices being changed on the fly - not with Planes!! Everything was done exactly as promised. And on schedule as promised!! I can highly recommend Planes, United Wan Lines, and Mayflower movers for anyone's next move.

I requested an early moving time, and the time I got initially was late in the day. When I complained, they did change it, to a little earlier, however they were late in arriving. They arranged for my items to be delivered 10 days after we moved, and I felt that this was unacceptable, but they said it was not able to be shortened. We had no furniture for 10 days in our new place. The delivery crew at the new place was very late, being an hour an a half past the latest time in the range, and they did not even communicate that to me, so I had to hunt someone down to find out where they were. Many of my items had black soot on them..not sure where that could have come from! All in all, not very happy with Planes.

We’ve used these guys before and they were good. This time, not. Simple pack from Florida to Ohio. Several pieces damaged. Driver dropping in Ohio late by two hours. Then the customer service agent quoted $125.00 to pick up less than 20 boxes after having me wait on my time for the late driver. I own my own business. Time is money. If they were thinking they would have said ‘we apologize for the inconvenience and we will happily pick up the boxes free of charge, that’s the least we can do for our failure to drop your shipment in the promised window”. We were considering using them for another move of my son’s household effects in Cincinnati but we’ve gone elsewhere as a result. Advice, find some other vendor.

Had to move our stuff out of our townhouse after the tornado ripped through the neighborhood and needed it done very quickly. They were able to fit us in within a few days and were so extremely helpful and understanding, great point of contact to help with all of the move details. We used them to move from ky to ny and it was a smooth and seamless move. They packed a two bedroom, two bathroom apartment and towed two cars. We received our items on time. A plant stand did break, but they reimbursed us with no issues. We paid a set fee (not dependent on weight) and they took inventory of everything in an orderly fashion - each box and item was numbered with a description written. If a box was missing, we would know generally what was missing from the inventory list. Subsequently, we’ve used other moving companies and they were definitely not as organized.

He managed the crews on both ends well - we could tell the guys cared for our belongings from the moment they arrived through the very end of the move. I felt cared for and the cost was incredibly reasonable. My antiques were handled with care, and the only mishap was a fixable old wood table foot (old oak and very dry!), which they promptly reimbursed thru their insurance plan. Planes Moving made our moving experience a little more bearable. Planes provided us with used packing boxes for our four bedroom house, it saved us a lot of money. The driver, Charlie who was at the origin and the final destination, is a pleasure to work with. He is very courteous and careful with our items. Charlie's helpers were great on both ends of our trip. Of course, the administrative staff also helped the move to run smoothly. Planes was not our lowest bid while we were finding a mover, but we trusted Susan Geyer and felt Planes could help us move without added anxiety. My moving crew from Planes was fantastic. They worked well together as a team, had all our furniture loaded very quickly, and took care to cover and pad all furniture items to prevent scratching or damage. They even offered to take more items than were originally on our list. When they arrived at our new home, they were able to navigate the steep driveway without any difficulty at all. They were very meticulous in laying down floor protection to prevent damage. They even moved some items around for us in the house that we were not able to move ourselves. All the men were very nice and polite, and the crew leader / Foreman Joe was outstanding, very knowledgeable and professional. Truly a very professional job well done!

When we moved to the N.KY. area, our goods were stored and delivered by Planes 23 years ago. They were absolutely great at that time and there was no breakage. In 2017, we moved to TN and had Planes pack us, store our goods for 4 months and deliver them to TN. Their weight estimate was 'right on'. The packers and loaders were absolutely fantastic. There is an actual person at Planes that coordinates your complete move. This is great for communication. We ended up having an extremely small claim which was handled expeditiously. We still considered this, the perfect move. When you get down to it, moving is stressful. We don't believe that anyone actually likes to move. But if you do, Planes Moving & Storage are definitely the people to call.

Excellent from start to finish! Received helpful hints from Brian for packing (eg, using pillows and thick towels for filling), plus free boxes and packing tape offered by Michelle. Coordinator, Kyra, guided us through and followed up with timely reminders of what to do in case of any damages (there were none). Lead team member, JOEL, is very experienced and led his men well. They first laid down coverings on our wood floors and carpet (rainy day) and they got right to loading. It was completed in record time with no problems, and we were on our way to our new home where unloading went just as smoothly. I have since received feedback from the director of our community that Joel and his men were a pleasure to work with, and that they will definitely recommend Planes Companies to others looking to move here. They listened intently to my instructions about what went and what didn't. They immediately went to work wrapping the glass tops to tables and padded our furniture. We recently hired Planes to move us from the Midwest to the South, and this has been hands-down the worst service experience of our lives. We estimated, conservatively, that Planes did $2,625 in damage to our belonging, and what we requested only covered the most egregious damage to our property and doesn’t even touch on much of the cleaning, repairs, time, and energy we have faced, thanks to the lack of professionalism shown by Planes personnel. A few of the lowest points of this moving experience include: • Approximately $1,000 in damage to the loading dock when their crew arrived to pick up our belongings, which took four months of repeated inquiries to finally get paid. • No care taken with our belongings: Everything from clothing to appliances wadded up and thrown into boxes with no protection. • Little effort made to protect our home – it took a full day to clean the floors after their crew came, and much of the furniture was damaged. • Our delivery date was changed at the very last minute, and we were not informed until the driver called to say he wasn’t coming. We ourselves even had to inform the third-party crating company Planes hired that the move was not taking place. Planes still had not informed them on the very morning it was scheduled. • Throughout this, our relocation counselor rarely initiated communications with us to notify us of the many changes in plans, and repeatedly has not returned our calls and emails. • Our replacement delivery driver completed our inventory checklist without our knowledge and insisted that we sign off on the paperwork before all items were even off the truck. • When we expressed our concern about the last-minute delayed delivery, we were sent a check for a paltry $100, about ½ a percent of what the move cost us, and the fine print on the back of the check said that if we deposit it, we are releasing Planes from all liability. • When we submitted our claim for the very worst of the damage, we were offered a mere $500 and told we would have to accept that or agree to an inspection of our things, months after the move was completed. • When we sent a very polite email asking if they could increase the settlement offer without putting us through the inspection, Planes showed complete indifference and just sent us the phone number to set up the inspection, which we, not Planes, have to coordinate. This indifference to everything we have been through shows us that this sort of thing must be pretty standard for Planes, or they would be horrified and trying to make it right for us. For this move, we chose the highest bid, expecting the highest level of care and professionalism and a stress-free experience, but that is the opposite of what we have received. This moving experience has caused us a great deal of stress and disappointment. All Planes has bothered to do is add insult to injury. We will never use Planes again and we recommend that no one else should ever, ever use Planes, unless you don’t care anymore about your belonging than Planes will.

Very Disappointed. Quoted one price and then sent a bill that was for thousands more even though they moved less stuff than what the quote was based upon. Weeks after moving we still have exercise equipment and a pool table that was damaged during the move left unassembled in our basement. Won't reimburse for damage done to pool table and elliptical machine or reassemble other exercise equipment until we pay the new invoice. Crooked business practice in my eyes.

I told her I had to have everything go. She told me we were overestimating and there would not be an issue. The day of the move, the movers told me before loading a single item it didn't look like there would be enough space. There wasn't and I got charged an unexpected extra $2,100. They refunded $400 for "inconvenience". Even the movers that night, as we were scrambling to figure out what to do, told me I shouldn't have to pay a dime for the problem. I insisted I be refunded for all of it, but they did not care and did not budge. Add to that, I claimed $2,000 worth of damaged items and am now going through corporate claims. It's been more than a month since I moved into my new home and I still don't have a single item fixed or refunded. This includes our kitchen table, so we have no eating surface as we hang in limbo. DO NOT use this company if you want good customer service and someone who actually cares about your items. All they care about is taking your money and once they have it, forget it. I spent hours on the phone stating my case. They did not care. It was, and continues to be, the worst customer service experience I've ever had.

Our experience with Planes Moving & Storage, a partner of United Van Lines, has been terrible. Simply terrible. Unfortunately, we were fooled because Planes had a good salesman, but it went downhill from there. They broke our belongings and damaged our property, and Planes personnel throughout the move were indifferent and unprofessional. And although they ultimately paid for most – but not all – of what they cost us in repair and replacement, they did nothing to make up for the stress and anxiety of the whole experience. The movers were incredibly unprofessional, and customer service was so indifferent that I can only assume they were not at all shocked by our terrible experience. And believe or not, we chose Planes even though it was the most expensive bid for the move because we wanted a top-notch professional and stress-free move. This was definitely NOT that. The damage they did to our properties – at both ends – was significant. They took no care in packing our belongings. Movers were careless. Move coordinators were unresponsive. By the time it was over, I was having panic attacks. When we filed our claim, which was for several thousand dollars, they offered a “quick-claim settlement” of $500, which was just insulting after all this, or they said we could jump through lots more hoops to try for a figure closer to what our broken and damaged belongings actually cost. We’ve given up hoping for satisfaction, and now we are trying to put it behind us. Unless you are up for a roller coaster of pain, I suggest you steer clear of Planes.
