Worked on this local intermodal account as a driver/trainer for almost 5 years, and honestly I wish I didn't move a hour away. A lot of people nag and complain about companies for a living than they do driving. i.e-They don't care about us, they get to go home everyday, we're just another number, etc.. You know, the truck stop preachers. The turnover rate on this account isn't the best but I honestly think its because people are just weak minded or complete morons that don't need to work for them.
I honestly believe this is hands down the best account to work for, for the company as a whole. It's almost impossible to not gross over $1000 a week. Yes people, if you ACTUALLY work you can make some good money. On average working 5 days, I mostly made over $250 a day. Benefits are a little pricey if you have a family, but for a single filer its around $40 a week.
Pros-5 day work weeks, volunteer overtime(never mandatory), 2 consecutive days off, they actually know your name if you walk in the office, pretty easy turn around from Indy area to Chicago and back, either you have your own truck or you slip seat with just 1 person, weekly pay, everyone actually tries to help each other out if there is a problem
Cons-The tires suck in the summertime(retreads), not a job if you want consistent start/end times, you get drivers who don't do there job and bring an empty back to the yard after doing a DROP AND HOOK because "they don't get paid for it".
I also forgot about load planning. They now have 2 planners. The newest planner there I didn't really like the way he did things at first, but we found ways to make it more efficient towards the end. The office personnel is actually some really great people, just may take a few times to warm up to each other LOL. I'll give this a 4 star because no place is perfect. HONESTLY one of the best local driving jobs in Indianapolis
