My wife and I had furniture stored with A-1 Fargo for over three years. Last month we had it delivered to our new residence. I thought it was peculiar that a cashiers check for the total value of the move (this had nothing to do with storage fees) was to be handed to the movers before any of the furniture came off the truck. Soon afterwards we found why: Half the furniture had been damaged! And there was nothing A-1 Fargo was obliged to do about it since it did not have insurance coverage. So, it was as if a third party had stored it and moved it and A-1 Fargo had nothing to do with the cause of the damage. Very expensive mattresses were ripped, hand made furniture was broken apart or scratched, arm rests and cushions on leather chairs and couches were permanently damaged due to heavy objects placed and left on them for years, dents on metal and wood surfaces, etc. . A total disaster! "As a courtesy and not an obligation", a third rate refinisher was sent the next day to poorly patch and complete ruining the furniture. Stay away from this bunch. The movers arrived late, with only two movers instead of three. They didn’t wrap our furniture (our building's requirement). They didn’t have materials to protect the floors (building requirement). They put our building deposit at risk by not complying with building regulations. Rescheduling a move on the day of the move is generally not an option. They put us in a difficult situation. The furniture arrived to the new location with dirty sweaty handprints. It was scuffed, scratched and dinged from not being wrapped and protected. Dispatch was apathetic to the condition of our furniture and said, “well we moved you in within the timeframe." The owner went silent when we made him aware of the agreement, which was discussed and finalized in person with his estimator, 2-weeks prior to our move. Don’t be fooled by the nice person who answers their phone. The operations of this mover is far below normal standards. The failure to respond to our issues indicates deception or apathy. College movers would do a better job than these guys.
