Joyce van Lines did an awesome job packing and moving our stuff. They wrapped and protected our stuff with so much precaution. We had basically no damages. Our stuff was delivered within a week of our move. We moved from California to Virginia. After dealing with a nightmare moving company (We Pack Moving), Joyce Van Lines came to our rescue and we are so appreciative. We will always use Joyce Van Lines whenever we move again. If I could give them 10 stars, I would. I cannot praise this company enough.

I wouldn't use ANYONE else. Amazing customer service and the guys that do the moving are the most polite and professional around. I have hired Joyce Movers about 4 times now. They put down runners on my floors to keep them clean, they hustle like crazy and just all around nice guys. My third move was a difficult one, they had to unload my furniture up over a porch balcony because my stairs we very narrow. I have some large, heavy pieces. I was so impressed that over the 12 hours it took 4 men to move me 45 miles, not one of the guys complained even once. Joyce Movers are simply the best.

UPDATE: Dear Mr. Joyce, We are in receipt of the attached. Being New Yorkers, we frequently enjoy sarcasm and smart attitude, however in this situation it is altogether inappropriate. Your letter completely disregards the cause for our complaint. Allow me to remind you of our conversation... We took issue with how your staff, subcontractors and salesperson held our property hostage on three separate occasions on the date of our move. We were told on each of these occasions that work was being halted until we went to the bank and got more cash to pay the driver, AND that until we did, the clock was running. This is completely inappropriate and abusive business practice, especially considering that we were repeat customers and were not a payment risk, as you claim so many of your clients are. That said, may I also address your comments from our conversation on Monday. Your characterization of me and my husband being, "you people from New Canaan" was completely uncalled for. You don't know us and have no right to make that judgement. In fact, on the prior move, the movers did real damage to some of our furniture, however you never received so much as a $1.00 claim from us, much less the "$10,000.00 claim for a scratch" that you claim to receive from people from New Canaan. If you can't deal with the facets of your business, then you shouldn't be in it. That said, in good faith, we handsomely tipped the workers as it was the right thing to do, regardless of how we were treated by their management. The fact that Jeff The subcontractor has five children is heart-warming, but I have no idea what that has to do with the way we were treated. For that matter, my husband and I have four children... does that give us the right to treat our clients this way? No, it does not. That said, the $300.00 settlement is no longer sufficient to settle the matter. I will not be removing those posts at this time as that was not discussed between us as a contingency. My husband and I are owed a sincere apology for what happened to us last Friday from you, Will, June and Jeff, and a guarantee from you that this won't happen to any of your future clients, regardless of what town they live in. We had an A+ experience last week with Joyce. We moved from Connecticut to Georgia. Bill Adams did the estimate and Doug was our office support. Joyce packed up our breakables on Monday, loaded the truck on Tuesday, and delivered everything on Sunday. The head man, Chris, was skilled and friendly. He and his crews showed up on time each day, broke nothing, did no damage to either house, and the job came in under estimate. I would recommend this company, especially if you get Chris in charge of the actual move.

Marcel and crew were so professional. They padded and film-wrapped all our furniture while in the house and even padded the doorways for further protection. They worked straight through and had a great disposition. I would use them again without reservation.

The driver Jerry was GR8!! He made everything go smoothly. I would definitely recommend. Moving can be very stressful but our move from Fl to NC was much easier than I had anticipated.

Would not recommend this company. My move had to be broken up into 2 shipments. Both times they charged me twice for the van, saying they had a right to make money. Originally they were going to use a shuttle and then place the contents in a larger moving van. That didn't happen but they still chose to bill me twice - once for the shuttle and once for the moving van that they didn't use. I am missing boxes yet they say that isn't so. When the 2nd shipment came I told the mover boxes were missing. He took the form from me, checked off all the ones I never checked off as I didn't see them and said he delivered them. Then he told me I had to sign the form, that I had no choice as it was mandatory, but that I could still file a complaint if I felt like it. Although, he constantly said he was worried about any complaint I may have as it would come back to haunt him. I could care less about him being haunted. I filed a complaint with the company who chose to support the individual who marked up the sheet (as he was so worried that some boxes didn't arrive so he fixed the sheet to say the did arrive), and they said it was all my fault. The missing boxes were clearly marked with my address and name, and (perhaps not wisely) I had marked what the contents were, figuring unpacking would be easier for me. Sadly, the boxes were marked Lenox, Christmas, Crystal. Bad enough my Lenox that had been gifts and collected since I first got married, a Nativity my mother had made for me shortly before she passed away was also in one of those boxes. It's all gone. They refuse to pay me what I was asking for, which wasn't even what the items are actually worth. I figured into the amount some depreciation but they have not responded. I filed a complaint with the BBB but got no where. If you value your hard earned dollars, and your possessions I would look elsewhere for a mover. It is always stressful moving to another state but this company made it the worst experience of my life. Overcharged, not reimbursed for missing items (and I wasn't asking a lot), and other issues that happened that I won't go into at this time. All I can say is, once you sign the agreement to have them move you, their office in Oxford could care less about you as you are just the little guy.

First of all, this is an honest review by an actual consumer who used Joyce Van Lines for a cross-country move. I have given them five stars because quite frankly they are a fantastic company which provides EXCEPTIONAL customer service. We used them for a move from LA to DC in 2010. They were able to accommodate us on very short notice. The move went flawlessly - we had NO damage; NO lost possessions; and everything arrived on time, as scheduled. The team was great and extremely polite. I wanted to use them again for a move we are about to do from DC to FL. I will this time being using another moving company for this move to respect my new company's relocation process; however, I just wanted to make a point about the outstanding customer service from Joyce. Bill Adams sat on the phone with me and answered all the questions I had about using Joyce again; however, he also answered questions I had about the other companies and RECOMMENDED one for me. He told me to go with what my new company would like as they have contracts, and to use him next time. He didn't push me and gave me ADVICE on the moving company he recommended. Who does that? That is top notch customer service from a company that just wants you to have a good experience - regardless if they are not the ones moving you. I HIGHLY recommend this company. And will use them for sure in the future if I am doing an individual move. Please give Joyce a chance to provide you with an amazing moving experience - especially with all the horror stories out there with agented moving companies. Thank you Joyce for being great!!!

Just making sure that you took my complaint seriously. The woman answering the phone did not seem to care. You have a driver who is not following the posted rules of the road and is instead following a GPS down roads unsafe for tractor trailers, driving at speed in excess of the speed limit and causing damage to the street in Hampton NH. What a disgrace.
