These guys were awesome. Having never hired movers before, I screwed up and requested two movers for what should have been a 3-person job. But the crew was very graceful about the situation. On top of it, I was moving out of a third floor apartment with a very narrow stairwell, but they maneuvered my furniture out without a problem. Finally, they the best price in town that I could find. Hands On Moving was absolutely perfect! From the initial quote process all the way through unloading the truck, their team was professional and efficient and made this move the easiest I've ever had. Getting a quote through their website was incredibly easy and they immediately contacted me to follow up, field any questions, and get the reservation set up. They had great communication and contacted me prior to the day of the move to confirm everything and again field any questions. The crew (who could not have been any nicer) showed up at the exact time they said they would and worked quickly. Our move was not simple to say the least. We were moving from an office with no elevator and about 60-70 stairs to climb. Not once did any of the crew complain or not have an upbeat and professional attitude. The crew did not damage (not even a scratch!) any of our items, including our industrial office printer, which is very difficult to move. I cannot say enough good things about our moving experience with Hands On Moving. From their competitive prices to their excellent crew, to stellar communication and ease of getting a quote and making a reservation, Hands On Moving was terrific. I would HIGHLY recommend them to anyone looking to make a local or long distance move.

We had a very positive experience with Hands on Moving! We had first contacted other companies who led us on, were flaky, or just unavailable. It was a tricky time at the end of June when everyone is moving, and Tajah at Hands on Moving was so quick to respond, walk us through the process, and give us the confidence that everything would work out great. That it did! The New Haven-based team was wonderful and very professional. At first we were skeptical about the high percent downpayment compared to other companies. Ultimately, it was a non-issue, and they confirmed with us every step of the way to let us know that everything was in order. On moving day, they showed up on time, worked swiftly, and we could move in to our house in Pittsburgh the next day.

We contacted Hands on Moving in November and they sent someone out to give us an estimate. We were quoted $1,370, and given they were significantly cheaper than the other estimate and had great reviews online we chose to go with them. The men who came to do our job were very friendly however that is where anything positive I have to say about this company ends. First, the movers damaged SO much of our furniture. Little care was taken to ensure the furniture wasn’t damaged and even worse, our floors, walls, and door frames in the new house were damaged as well. To make matters worse, at the end of the first day, we were asked to pay $1,980 and told they weren’t going to be able to finish the job and would need to return the following day at a rate of $110/hour. When my husband spoke with Xzavier, the owner, to explain our outrage regarding the extreme difference in cost, he agreed to give us a “deal” of $140 for the second day. The problem with that deal is they were only willing to make one run with the truck, because they said they had another job, so we were forced to rent a truck to move the rest of our things that they left!!! That means we’re out well over $2,000 for the move with this company!!! Xzavier contacted me after I sent him the pictures of all of the damage to say that someone would be coming out to see if he could repair our items. I asked him what would happen if they couldn’t be repaired as some of the damage is significant. He said I would get the $.60/pound and “at least it was something”. I implore you to think twice before using this company if you have furniture you do not want damaged! The furniture repairman came today and made every attempt to repair the damaged pieces but almost all of the damage is still noticeable. AND we still have to repaint our stairwell and door jams ourselves. Moving is stressful enough without using a company that doesn’t know what they’re doing or care to make things right with their customers when they screw up in multiple ways !!!! We gave Xzavier the opportunity to make this right multiple times but clearly all that matters to him is his bottom line!!

On time and professional. They worked hard without break. We had no trouble with our 2-bedroom move. It took the 3 of them about 5 hours total, including the 1 hour drive. They were very flexible with how we had packed our stuff. Overall this was a great experience, especially considering all of the horror stories you read about other companies.

My experience with Hands on Moving was stellar from beginning to end. I received the moving quote quickly, found it to be fair, and appreciated how the staff was very attentive to us while we prepared packing boxes for the move. Very unprofessional. Movers did not wrap my furniture, when asked why I was told it was easier to lift. My dressers were scratched as well as my new washing machine and dryer. My cario cabinet was broken during the move, and I was told it would not be replaced. If it was wrapped and not left in the middle of the side walk it would not have been broken. They claimed that someone broke it as they were walking by. My items were not treated with care. The price is what attracted me, what a mistake I made.

Not a pleasent experience working with this company. Called to get a quote and they gave us for three men. For whatever reason I didn’t conform with them. Called me after a few days and suggested that we don’t need three movers two should be fine, was just trying to sell. I fell for it. Two men came and took forever to load the truck. I had to call the company again and asked to send another guy. Had to pay extra for his commute. And to add make it better the truck was so small that I couldnot put about 10% of the stuff. That now I am moving stuff on my own. FYI i had already got rid of bed and some other furniture.

We hired Hands on Moving for our move this past May from a 2-bedroom apartment to our new house. The company estimated 5.5 hours for the move and gave me an arrival time of 8-9:00 AM. The movers showed up just before 9. They worked quickly and got everything put into the truck on schedule, but the lead Nelson complained a lot about a large and heavy file cabinet we had. We got to the house and I noticed the workers started to rush. The large file cabinet wouldn't fit in the basement as planned so we put it upstairs instead, which prompted more complaining. After the file cabinet was moved Nelson went and sat in the truck for half an hour, leaving the other two movers to handle the rest. I found out they were scheduled to be at another move for between 2 and 3 PM. They ended up leaving my house at 2:30, exactly 5.5 hours as estimated. During their rushing they pushed a large hutch across our hardwood floors, leaving a wide scratch about 4 feet long. Somehow during the move my tool set and drill got misplaced and unfortunately I didn't notice until after they left. After the move was completed I sent photos of the damaged floor. They had a repair man come out a few weeks later to touch up the spot, which I was happy about. I reported the missing tools and was told there wasn't much they could do about it. Nelson said he didn't remember seeing them and they weren't in the truck at the end of the day. The owner Xzavier said he would not pay for a replacement because I didn't include them in the inventory. I was told to only list large and unique items on the inventory, so I'm not sure how I should have known to include a drill and tool set. He said he would do one last look and get back to me. That was a month ago and I haven't heard anything since. The price seemed right and customer service seemed great prior to our move, but I'm left wishing I spent a little more to go with a higher quality company. Considering the cost of replacing my tools and the time spent dealing with these issues, it probably would have come out even.

Hired this company for a kind of complicated move - load one day, store overnight, unload the next day, with time constraints. I was frustrated trying to explain what I needed to another company, but the HandsOn receptionist was very helpful, spending enough time asking me questions so that she could book it correctly. The guys on both days were great, helpful, polite, and got everything done within the estimated time. They arrived a little late on the first day, but I expected that with a mid-day move and they started the clock from the first box coming down the stairs instead of the scheduled time. Reasonably priced, all our stuff is in order. Very pleased.

I recently purchased a new home and there was an old brick fireplace in the backyard which was falling apart. My brother and I tore it down one weekend but then didn't know what to do with the bricks and other debris. I looked at several moving companies and found these guys to be the most responsive and best priced. I called to have a commercial freezer wheeled in our small store. Told them the details, and they confirmed they can do it. When the movers came, they had a hard time figuring out how to put in the wheels. However, after explaining to their manager what the other people did to the one we ordered previously, they were able to figure it out and able to do the job. They left the place clean and were able to do as promised despite some problems. Will definitely recommend then because of their reasonable prices and professionalism of their manager and movers.

As usual, another seamless experience with Hands On Moving. This time I needed a very heavy mechanical chair moved from East Haven to my office in New Haven and they were able to fit me in right away and the move was perfect. A few months ago, I needed a dumpster at my house...one phone call and it was delivered to my driveway for a great price. Another recent service was junk removal...we had to rip up our basement carpeting after a flood and had about 30 trash bags. A truck arrived the next day to remove them. I have referred Hands On Moving to many of my friends and clients over the years and have heard nothing but raves for their moving services. You simply can't go wrong putting your trust in this company.
